Flay Irene Phelps, 59, of Sour Lake died June 18, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Sour Lake with burial at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Sour Lake under the direction of Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A longtime resident of Sour Lake, she was a retired real estate agent.

Survivors include her husband, Windol E. Phelps of Sour Lake; daughter, Windi Anne Fourdraine of West Chesterfield, N.H.; son, Michael Eston Phelps of Sour Lake; sister, Dora Wheeler of Sour Lake; and two grandchildren.

MAUD M. RUTLEDGE

Maud M. Rutledge, 83, of Orange died June 18, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Orange, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Laura Johnston of Orange; son, William Rutledge Jr. of Orange; brother, E.W. Montgomery Jr. of Beaumont; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1452, Orange, Texas 77631.

A.A. ‘CHICK’ THARP JR.

A.A. "Chick" Tharp Jr., 80, of Groves died June 16, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Lindale, he lived in Groves many years and was a retired Neches Butane operator and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Tharp of Groves; daughters, Jane Landry of Beaumont and Judy Tharp of Groves; brothers, James Tharp of Dallas and Harold Tharp of Alamogardo, Mexico; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

THOMAS LaDONN TROBAUGH

Thomas LaDonn Trobaugh, 76, of Wildwood died June 17, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wildwood United Methodist Church with burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary.

He lived in Wildwood many years.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Trobaugh of Village Mills; son, Thomas L. Trobaugh Jr. of Pasadena; daughter, Donna Newcome of Pearland; and three grandchildren.

CHESTER WROGG

Chester Wrogg, 67, of Orange died June 17, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Orange, he was a retired machinist in the shipbuilding industry and a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Wrogg of Orange; daughter, Diane Miller of Silsbee; sons, Robert Richmond of Orange and Steve Richmond of Nederland; sister, Shirley Arthur of Orange; and three grandchildren.

ROBERT ‘BERT’ BERTRAND

Robert "Bert" Bertrand, 68, of Beaumont died June 16, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial at China Cemetery in China under the direction of Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Vermilion Parish, La., he lived in Beaumont many years and was a boilermaker and a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Bertrand of Beaumont; daughter, Jo Ann Barkley of Palm Beach, Fla.; son, Richard Bertrand of Vidor; sisters, Edna Martinez of Thibodaux, La., Una Henry of Crowley, La., Betty Langford of Mauriceville, Rosella Sarver of Rayne, La., and Stella Robideaux of San Antonio; brothers, Velia Bertrand Jr. of Biloxi, Miss., and Alex Bertrand and Eckel Bertrand, both of Crowley; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Heart Association or charity of choice.

CLARENCE L. BUCHANAN JR.

Clarence L. Buchanan Jr., 54, of Beaumont died June 13, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Funeral will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Mercy Funeral Home on Gladys Street with burial at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

A native of Orange, he lived in Beaumont many years.

He is survived by his parents, Virginia Baptiste and Kenneth Baptiste of Beaumont.

ROBERT F. CHIASSON

Robert F. Chiasson, 93, of Sugar Land died June 16, 2000 in Missouri City.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Abbeville, La., he lived in the Golden Triangle area many years and was a retired Texaco paymaster.

Survivors include his daughter, JoAnn Plessala of Sugar Land; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

HILDA MARIE DORE

Hilda Marie Dore, 99, of Port Acres died June 16, 2000 at Autumn Hills Nursing Home in Houston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Breaux Bridge, La., she lived in Port Acres many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Ethel M. Miller of Houston, brother, Ernest Leblanc of Lafayette, La.; sister, Clay Lee Jones of Dallas; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

DAISY CLINE EWING

Daisy Cline Ewing, 93, of Silsbee died June 15, 2000 at Bur-Mont Nursing Home.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Guedry Cemetery in Batson under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

A native of Rosine, Ky., she lived in Hull most of her life and was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Danny Joe Basham of Saratoga and Lester Basham of Russellville, Ark.; daughter, June Reid of Mount Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

FRED M. GRIFFIN JR.

Fred M. Griffin Jr., 86, of Beaumont died June 16, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calder Baptist Church with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Monday at the church.

A longtime resident of Beaumont, he was a homebuilder.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie Griffin of Beaumont; son, Fred M. Griffin III of Florida; stepdaughter, Linda Sutton of Austin; and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Beaumont Chapter.

FELTON GUILLORY

Felton Guillory, 64, of Beaumont died June 15, 2000 at RHD Memorial Center in Carrollton.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with burial at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Community Funeral Chapel on Irma Street. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the church.

A native of Mallet, La., he lived in Beaumont a number of years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Guillory of Beaumont; sons, Gregory Felton Guillory of Missouri City, Jimmy Guillory of Flower Mound and Darryl Martin Guillory of Carrollton; daughter, Gwendolyn Marie Igbal of Beaumont; brothers, Yorick Guillory of China, Adams Guillory of Houston and Henry Guillory of Los Angeles; stepbrothers, Joseph Guillory, Larry Guillory, Gilbert Guillory and Lonnie Guillory, all of California, and Lawrence Guillory of Baytown; sisters, Enola Guillory of Beaumont and Lillie May Porter of Lake Charles, La.; and stepsisters, Stella Laster, Mary Robertson and Eva Davis, all of California.

MATTHEW TODD JONES

Matthew Todd Jones, 40, of Beaumont died June 16, 2000.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was employed with Triple S Construction.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Jones of Beaumont; mother, Julia Jones of Beaumont; brothers, John Larry Jones of Beaumont and Luke Eric Jones and Mark Wayne Jones, both of Houston; sister, Nell Bitner of Houston; stepdaughter, Cindy McClelland of Buna; and two stepgrandchildren.

CHARLENE LEAVINGS

Charlene Leavings, 74, of Kirbyville died June 16, 2000 at her residence.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Hope, Ark., she lived in Kirbyville 26 years.

Survivors include her husband, J.W. Leavings of Kirbyville; daughter, Linda Everett of Orange; sons, Ronnie Leavings of Irving and Robert Leavings of Kirbyville; brother, J.T. Rogers of Hope; sister, Sue Coleman of Kirbyville; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

JESSE LEE McQUEEN

Jesse Lee McQueen, 52, of Beaumont died June 15, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church with burial at the Veterans Affairs cemetery in Houston under the direction of Community Funeral Chapel on Irma Street. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

A native of Camden, La., he lived in Beaumont and was a disabled U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Rosetta Kyle of Beaumont; daughter, Jessica Renee McQueen of Beaumont; sisters, Mary A. Cormier of Houston, and Lucille Freeman of Beaumont; and grandmother, Loudella Jones.
