Joyce Rae Miller Jones

Joyce Rae Miller Jones, 62, of Lumberton died April 6, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Loeb in Loeb with a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston under the direction of Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A native of Center, she lived in Lumberton 24 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Jones of Lumberton; daughters, Kim Jones Meineke of Beaumont and Karri Jones Busbee and Kayla Jones Compton, both of Lumberton; brother, John Franklin Miller of Humble; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Loeb, Lumberton Band Boosters or a charity of choice.

Patsy Payne

Patsy Payne, 65, of Vidor died April 5, 2001, at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor with burial at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at the funeral home.

A native of Port Arthur, she lived in Vidor 23 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Raymond Payne of Vidor; son, Glen T. Payne of Vidor; daughter, Pamela K. Smith of Vidor; brother, John T. Quebedeaux of Anaheim, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Charles ‘Jerry’ Picton

Charles "Jerry’’ Picton, 86, of Port Arthur died April 5, 2001, at Park Place Medical Center.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Rockport, he lived in Port Arthur 66 years and was a retired D.M. Picton Towing Co. manager.

Survivors include his daughter, Geraldine Picton Seale of Austin; sister, Mary Beth Caspary of Rockport; brother, Harold Hynes Picton of Rockport; grandson, Charles Kent Seale of Austin; and granddaughter, Mary Ilene Seale of New Orleans.

Ben M. Rogers

Ben M. Rogers, 87, of Groves died April 5, 2001, at Doctors Hospital.

A graveside service will be at noon today at New Catholic Cemetery in Abbeville, La., under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation was Friday at the funeral home.

A native of Decatur, Ala., he lived in Groves 37 years and was a retired Texaco Marine engineer and World War II Merchant Marine veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Rogers of Groves; son, Bradley J. Rogers of Groves; sister, Nell Foust of Coleman, Ala.; brother, Ernest Rogers of Decatur; and one grandson.

Jessie Mae Ward

Jessie Mae Ward, 80, of Pineland died April 5, 2001, at Mary Dickerson Hospital in Jasper.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Sabine County, she lived in Jasper and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son, Homer Ray Wood of Port Arthur; daughters, Ruby Jacobs of Pineland and Shirley Brown and Lillie Rousse, both of Hemphill; brothers, Chester Boaz of Kansas, Arvil Boaz of Pineland and Elic Boaz of Beaumont; sister, Dorothy Jones of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Aline Wheat

Thelma Aline Wheat, 93, of Beaumont died April 5, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., she lived in Beaumont several years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Sally Serio of Beaumont and Patricia Janise Williams of Port Arthur; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Building Fund.

Clyde Willis

Clyde Willis, 79, of Gilchrist died April 4, 2001, at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakhill Cemetery in Oakdale, La., under the direction of Broussard’s in Winnie. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery .

A native of Oakdale, he lived in Gilchrist many years and was a retired furniture store owner.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Willis of Gilchrist; sons, Charles Willis of Montgomery, Ala., Chris Willis of Winnie and Mark Willis of LaGrange, Ga.; brother, Calvin Willis of Oakdale; and one grandchild.

Maurice Yarborough

Maurice Yarborough, 77, of Groves died April 4, 2001, at Hospice Home Place in Tyler.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A lifelong resident of Groves, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Root of Tyler; son, James "Jimmy’’ Barrie of Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Henry Andrepont

Henry Andrepont, 81, of Beaumont died April 7, 2201, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with burial at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary. A quiet hour will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

A native of Iota, La., he lived in Beaumont 55 years and was retired from Gulf refinery. He was also a World War II U.S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Freda Andrepont of Beaumont; son, Malcolm John Andrepont of Beaumont; sisters, Dora Andrepont of Beaumont and Mary L. Andrepont and Dorena Guillory, both of Lake Charles; and one grandson.

Josephine Laverne Harris Baszile

Josephine Laverne Harris Baszile, 81, of Port Arthur died April 7, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at New St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Port Arthur with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home in Port Arthur. Visitation will begin at noon Friday with a praise service at 1 p.m. at the church.

A lifelong resident of Port Arthur, she was a beautician.

Survivors include daughters, Charlotte M. Wills of Port Arthur and Madolia A. Harper of Grand Prairie; sister, Florence Walton of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jima Lou Benton

Jima Lou Benton, 73, of Orange died April 8, 2001, at her residence.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Covington, Okla., she lived in Orange 33 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Jill Guidry of Orange.

Roy Franklin Clough

Roy Franklin Clough, 89, of Nederland died April 8, 2001, at Golden Triangle Convalescent Center in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Blooming Grove, he lived in Nederland 54 years and was a retired Texaco Inc. maintenance supervisor.

Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Colleen Hickman of Nederland; sisters, Catherine Sims and Minnie Tart, both of Katy, and Mamilou Loper of Groves; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Virginia Lee Cooper

Virginia Lee Cooper, 74, of Singer, La., died April 8, 2001, at DeQuincy Hospital in DeQuincy, La.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy with burial at Newlin Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Orange, she lived in Singer most of her life, was a clerk for Nichols of DeQuincy and a former employee at Equitable Bag Factory in Orange.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon Treme of Singer and Pam Boyer of Fields, La.; sons, Ernest Cooper of Singer, Mike Cooper of DeRidder, La., and Steve Cooper of Oretta, La.; sister, Ruth Klock of Beaumont; brother, Richard Gamblin of Fort Worth; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Eva D. Cornelius

Eva D. Cornelius, 84, of Woodville died April 8, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville with burial at Camp Ground Cemetery near Woodville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Somerville, she lived in Pasadena most of her life before moving to Woodville 24 years ago and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son, J.M. Cornelius of Zavalla; sisters, Virginia Dickey of Pasadena and Alyce Sublette of Athens; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 South Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Jeff Daniels

Jeff Daniels, 46, of Groves died April 6, 2001, at Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Port Arthur, he lived in the Groves area most of his life and was a homebuilder.

Survivors include his wife, Laurie Licatino Daniels of Groves; daughters, Stephanie Daniels and Marcie Daniels, both of Groves; father, W.L. "Jack’’ Daniels of Groves; brothers, Billy Daniels of Port Arthur and Chad Daniels of Groves; and sisters, Sherry Whitfield of Houston and Lori Dattalo of LaPorte.
