Jerry Leroy Mathis, 68, of Port Neches died July 4, 2001, at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Mid-County.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Henderson, he lived in Port Neches most of his life and was a retired Ameripol Synpol operator.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Boothe Mathis of Port Neches; daughters, Sherilyn Goodman of Beaumont, Betty Bourgeois of Orangefield, Bonnie Lehr of Montgomery, Linda Allred of Birmingham, Ala., and Debra Stagner of Orange; son, Jerry Lee Mathis of Mauriceville; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
Luther J. ‘Bud’ Moss
Luther J. "Bud" Moss, 68, of Port Neches died July 3, 2001, at his residence.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Broussard’s in Nederland with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
A native of Port Arthur, he was a lifelong resident of the Port Arthur and Port Neches areas, the retired owner-operator of BB&M Boat Shop and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Moss of Port Neches; son, Carl Joseph Moss of Maryland; sisters, Sue Raggio of Port Neches, Marlene Thibodeaux of Deweyville and Rita Coon and Lorraine Blanchard, both of Port Arthur; and brother, Emile "Butch" Moss of Orange.

Evelyn Rose Olson, 85, of Beaumont died July 4, 2001, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church with cremation under the direction of Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland.
A native of Chicago, Ill., she was a longtime resident of Beaumont and a retired self-employed photographer.
Survivors include her daughter, Diana Olson of Beaumont.

Agnes Yarbrough Peet, 86, of Orange died July 4, 2001, at her residence.

A native of Hope, Ark., she lived in Orange most of her life and was a homemaker.

Iris C. Ross, 90, of Vidor died July 3, 2001, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

A native of Eunice, La., she lived in Vidor many years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include his son, F.O. Leonard of Pearsall; daughters, May Lois Odom of Vidor and Dorothy Jay of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel Smith, 83, of Winnie died July 3, 2001, at The Arboretum.
Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Broussard’s in Winnie with burial at Smith Cemetery in Kempner. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
A native of Copperas Cove, she lived in Winnie most of her life and owned The Winnie Flower Shop.
Survivors include brothers, Thomas Walker and L.J. Walker, both of Lampasas; sister, Claudine Bear of Lampasas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A native of Newton County, she was a longtime resident of Jasper.
Survivors include her sons, Johnie E. Henry of Trinity, Thomas B. Smith of Jasper and Ronald Lee Smith of Brookeland; daughter, Angie Elezabeth Howland of Garland; sister, Vada Bunk of Bay City; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.

A native of San Augustine County and former longtime resident of Midland, she lived in East Texas nine years and was a retired Midland Independent School District teacher.
Survivors include her sisters, Corine Thompson of Broaddus and Eldora Wynne of Kirbyville; stepsons, Michael Cobb of San Augustine, Estheridge Cobb of Fort Worth and Jesse Cobb of Colleyville; and a host of stepgrandchildren.
