Jerry Leroy Mathis

Jerry Leroy Mathis, 68, of Port Neches died July 4, 2001, at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Mid-County.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Henderson, he lived in Port Neches most of his life and was a retired Ameripol Synpol operator.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Boothe Mathis of Port Neches; daughters, Sherilyn Goodman of Beaumont, Betty Bourgeois of Orangefield, Bonnie Lehr of Montgomery, Linda Allred of Birmingham, Ala., and Debra Stagner of Orange; son, Jerry Lee Mathis of Mauriceville; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.

Luther J. ‘Bud’ Moss

Luther J. "Bud" Moss, 68, of Port Neches died July 3, 2001, at his residence.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Broussard’s in Nederland with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

A native of Port Arthur, he was a lifelong resident of the Port Arthur and Port Neches areas, the retired owner-operator of BB&M Boat Shop and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Moss of Port Neches; son, Carl Joseph Moss of Maryland; sisters, Sue Raggio of Port Neches, Marlene Thibodeaux of Deweyville and Rita Coon and Lorraine Blanchard, both of Port Arthur; and brother, Emile "Butch" Moss of Orange.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Evelyn Rose Olson

Evelyn Rose Olson, 85, of Beaumont died July 4, 2001, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church with cremation under the direction of Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland.

A native of Chicago, Ill., she was a longtime resident of Beaumont and a retired self-employed photographer.

Survivors include her daughter, Diana Olson of Beaumont.

Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic School.

Agnes Yarbrough Peet

Agnes Yarbrough Peet, 86, of Orange died July 4, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A native of Hope, Ark., she lived in Orange most of her life and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Virginia Owens, Sammy Delores Flippen and Allene Broussard, all of Orange; son, Clarence Yarbrough of Orange; sister, Hattie Baxter of Purcell, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; 29 grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Iris C. Ross

Iris C. Ross, 90, of Vidor died July 3, 2001, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor with burial at Del Rose Cemetery in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Eunice, La., she lived in Vidor many years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include his son, F.O. Leonard of Pearsall; daughters, May Lois Odom of Vidor and Dorothy Jay of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel Smith

Hazel Smith, 83, of Winnie died July 3, 2001, at The Arboretum.

Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Broussard’s in Winnie with burial at Smith Cemetery in Kempner. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

A native of Copperas Cove, she lived in Winnie most of her life and owned The Winnie Flower Shop.

Survivors include brothers, Thomas Walker and L.J. Walker, both of Lampasas; sister, Claudine Bear of Lampasas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 665, Winnie, Texas 77665.

Retha Ann Smith

Retha Ann Smith, 87, of Jasper died July 3, 2001, at Green Acres Nursing Home in Center.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery.

A native of Newton County, she was a longtime resident of Jasper.

Survivors include her sons, Johnie E. Henry of Trinity, Thomas B. Smith of Jasper and Ronald Lee Smith of Brookeland; daughter, Angie Elezabeth Howland of Garland; sister, Vada Bunk of Bay City; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.

Patricia D. Trosclair

Patricia D. Trosclair, 80, of Beaumont died July 4, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Beaumont with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s on McFaddin. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

A native of Beaumont, she was a retired South Park Independent School District special education teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Trosclair of Beaumont; daughter, Catherine Ellison of Houston; grandchildren, Cara Halbirt, Amanda Roessler, Keith Ellison and Casey Ellison, all of Houston; and two great-grandchildren.

Judy M. Armstrong

Judy M. Armstrong, 55, of Beaumont died July 3, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home with burial at Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon today at the funeral home.

A native and longtime resident of Beaumont, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Alden Sherrill Armstrong of Beaumont; son, Damon Sherrill Armstrong of Vidor; stepdaughters, Tammy Loraine Russell of Buna and Angela Kay Russell of Silsbee; brother, Richard W. Courts of Kountze; sister, Jimmie Lee Prejean of Magnolia; and five grandchildren.

Tracy Annette Olsen Cerce

Tracy Annette Olsen Cerce, 32, of Mont Belvieu died July 1, 2001.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Connally-Compton Funeral Home in Waco with burial at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery. Local visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the Waco facility.

A native of Waco and former resident of Baytown and San Antonio, she lived in Mont Belvieu 1½ years and was a Meador Staffing Services employee and homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, David M. Cerce of Mont Belvieu; mother, Amelia Olsen of Hewitt; father and stepmother, Floyd Olsen and Virginia Olsen of Dublin; sons, Sean N. Cerce and Spencer W. West, both of Mont Belvieu; stepson, Dale Cerce of Mont Belvieu; brother, Jimmy Olsen of Dallas; sisters, Debbie Price of Arlington, Shannon Summers of Hewitt and Kristin Williams of San Diego, Calif.; and grandmother, Virginia Olsen of Paris, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tracy Olsen-Cerce Scholarship Fund, c/o Molly Herring, 16302 El Camino Real, Clear Lake, Texas 77062.

Hazel Baker Cobb

Hazel Baker Cobb, 91, of Broaddus died July 1, 2001, at Twin Lakes Care Center in San Antonio.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hebron Cemetery in San Augustine under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home.

A native of San Augustine County and former longtime resident of Midland, she lived in East Texas nine years and was a retired Midland Independent School District teacher.

Survivors include her sisters, Corine Thompson of Broaddus and Eldora Wynne of Kirbyville; stepsons, Michael Cobb of San Augustine, Estheridge Cobb of Fort Worth and Jesse Cobb of Colleyville; and a host of stepgrandchildren.

Allen Lionel Davis

Allen Lionel Davis, 73, of Liberty died July 2, 2001, at Golden Charm Nursing Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty with burial at Worthy-Hylton Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native and lifelong resident of Liberty, he was a retired Texas Gulf Sulfur carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Lou Davis of Liberty; son, Roger Davis of Liberty; daughters, Donna Tacy of LaPorte and Gloria Turner of Anahuac; brother, Willie Ray Davis of Liberty; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

J.W. Davis

J.W. Davis, 87, of Beaumont died June 29, 2001, at Lindberg Health Care Center.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with burial at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary. A quiet hour will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

A native of Point Blank, he lived in Beaumont 55 years and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Davis of Beaumont; sons, Enoch Davis of Beaumont and Henry I. Jackson of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Deborah Kay ‘Debbie’ Dudley

Deborah Kay "Debbie" Dudley, 52, of Hull died July 1, 2001, in Cleveland.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty with burial at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral service.

A lifelong resident of Liberty, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Vernon Alberson of Hull and Bruce Alberson of Hardin; stepson, Johnny Dudley Jr. of Dayton; stepdaughter, Kelly Dudley of Dayton; brother, Burnard Craig Jr. of Hardin; and parents, Burnard L. Craig Sr. and Mary Rosetta McMurtry Craig of Hull.
