Goldie Louise Travis, 72, of Merryville, La., died July 3, 2001, at Merryville Nursing Home.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Junction City, La., with burial at Meadows Cemetery in Merryville under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at the funeral home and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Merryville.

Survivors include daughters, Patricia Travis, Annie Hooper and Susan Ackerman, all of Merryville; brother, Delmier Burks of Wylie; sisters, Vera Jean Coburn of Lake Charles, La., and Inez Lanier and Lena Robberson, both of Merryville; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Sallie Maria Taylor West

Sallie Maria Taylor West, 76, of Port Arthur died July 3, 2001, at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home in Port Arthur. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

A native of New Iberia, La., she lived in Port Arthur 54 years and was a retired Port Arthur Independent School District educator.

Survivors include her husband, Burton West of Port Arthur; daughters, Ingrid Holmes of Port Arthur and Tonya West of Austin; sister, Wanda Mahoney of Beaumont; and grandson, Justin Fisk of Port Arthur.

Delia ‘Granny’ Woodcock

Delia "Granny" Woodcock, 84, of Votaw died July 2, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Broussard’s in Kountze with burial at Votaw Cemetery in Votaw. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A native of Johnson’s Bayou, La., she lived in Votaw many years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Thelma Mitchell and Sharon Woodcock, both of Votaw, and Mary Bland of Goodrich; sisters, Della Sangwin of Silsbee and Ollie Murphy of Wildwood; brothers, Buster Adaway of Port Arthur and Dan Adaway of Lake Jackson; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hardin County Unit, P.O. Box 834, Kountze, Texas 77625-0834.

Travis Hardin Ballow

Travis Hardin Ballow, 78, of Hemphill died June 30, 2001 at Sabine County Hospital in Hemphill.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill with burial at McRae Cemetery in San Augustine.

A native of Maybank and longtime resident of Hemphill, he was worked in road construction and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his four nieces and nephews.

Melvin Ray Eaves

Melvin Ray Eaves, 50, of Vidor died July 1, 2001, in Montgomery, Ala.

Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A native and lifelong resident of Vidor, he was owner of Outboard Services in Vidor and a Motiva Enterprises maintenance supervisor.

Survivors include his wife, Miechael Eaves of Vidor; sons, Aubrey Wayne Eaves of Vidor and Matthew Douglas Eaves of Houston; father, Morris Eaves of Vidor; brothers, James V. Eaves Sr., David Eaves, Robert M. Eaves, Ronald Eaves and Russell Eaves, all of Vidor; sister, Ada King of San Antonio; and one grandson.

Warren Richard Ellis

Warren Richard Ellis, 63, of Sand Springs, Okla., died June 29, 2001, in Tulsa, Okla.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Homer Cemetery in Jasper under the direction of Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

A native of Jasper and former resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., he lived in Sand Springs most of his life and was the owner of Pesco Inc., and U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Ellis of Sand Springs; daughter, Rebecca Veenstra of Durant, Okla.; sister, Patsy Allison of Dallas; brother, Jerry Ellis of Jasper; and grandchildren, Zachary Warren and Samantha Sue Veenstra, both of Durant.

Barbara A. Foster

Barbara A. Foster, 65, of Port Arthur died July 1, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A native of Groves, she lived in Port Arthur 65 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Foster of Kingwood and Vicki Foster Byrd of Port Neches; sons, Mike Foster of Nederland and Juan Foster of Port Arthur; brother, Lloyd W. Babb of Groves; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Cecil Hamilton Frazier

Cecil Hamilton Frazier, 66, of Orange died June 30, 2001, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at El Ethel Baptist Church in Orange with burial at Magnolia Memorial Gardens under the direction of Skipper Lee & Son’s Eternal Rest Funeral Home in Houston. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

A native of Houston, he was a longtime resident of Orange, was a retired DuPont mechanic and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadette "Bonnie" Thierry Frazier; son, Winston Dwight Simpson; daughter, Carol Lynette Simpson Gobert; sister, Gloria Frazier Evans; brother, Lee Jay "Skipper Lee" Frazier; and two grandchildren.

Bobby Lloyd Gilbert Sr.

Bobby Lloyd Gilbert Sr., 58, of Vidor died July 1, 2001, at his residence.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Restlawn Cemetery in Vidor under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor.

A native of Beaumont, he lived in Vidor 30 years and was a self-employed welder.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Gilbert of Vidor; son, Bobby Gilbert Jr. of Houston; daughters, Tina McGrew and Gina Ewart, both of Vidor, and Carla Gilbert; brothers, Billy Gilbert and Donnie Leblanc, both of Vidor; and three grandchildren.

Eugene ‘Gene’ V. Gill Jr.

Eugene "Gene" V. Gill Jr., 34, of Orange died June 29, 2001, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Community Church in Orange with burial at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A native of Beaumont, he lived in Orange most of his life and was a disabled U.S. Navy and Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Gill of Orange; father and stepmother, Eugene V. Gill Sr. and Shirley Gill of Mauriceville; mother, Fay Jean Rothrock Feagin of Vidor; son, Eugene "Pumpkin" V. Gill III of Beaumont; and sisters, Bonnie K. Gill of Mauriceville.

Logan Dionshae ‘Shae’ Howard

Logan Dionshae "Shae" Howard, 6, of Port Arthur died June 28, 2001, at Christus St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at noon Friday at Gabriel Funeral Home with burial at Johnson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her parents, LouKisha Kemper and Terrance Howard, both of Port Arthur; brother, Marcus Lee Cole of Port Arthur; grandmothers, Evelyn Hilts and Cheryl Steward, both of Port Arthur; grandfathers, Clifton Ceasar Sr. and Louis Steward, both of Port Arthur; great-grandmothers, Rosa Lee Kemper and Madelyn Leblanc; and great-grandfather, Clarence Howard.

Eula Lee McMahon

Eula Lee McMahon, 83, of Newton died July 2, 2001, at Harvest Care Center in Lumberton.

Private graveside service will be Wednesday under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Burkeville, she lived in the Burkeville and Newton areas many years.

Survivors include her son, Jim Tom McMahon of Houston; daughter, Gadelle Todd of Beaumont; sister, Adelle Gray of Newton; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lois Miller

Lois Miller, 92, of Burkeville died July 1, 2001, in Beaumont.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Burkeville Church of God with burial at Burkeville Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of San Augustine, she lived in Burkeville and Beaumont most of her life.

Survivors include her son, R.H. Miller Jr. of Lufkin. grandchildren, Ray Going Jr., Richard Going, Diane Hendor and Mary Alice Jacks; and four great-grandchildren.

Baby Boy Myers

Baby Boy Myers, infant son of Chris and Janet Myers of Groves died June 30, 2001, at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.

Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland.

Survivors other than parents include his grandparents, Rudolph and Margaret Lege of Groves, Jerry Myers of Bridge City and Alice Stom of Vidor.

Minh Hoang Nguyen

Minh Hoang Nguyen, 18, of Port Arthur died July 1, 2001, in Crowley, La.

Funeral procession begins at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Phan Thiet, Vietnam, he lived in Port Arthur 15 years and was a China Border waiter.

Survivors include his parents, Jimmy and Chin Nguyen of Port Arthur; brothers, Eric Nguyen, Michael Nguyen and Danny Nguyen, all of Port Arthur; and sisters, Jill Nguyen and Mariah Nguyen, both of Port Arthur.
