Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Liberty with burial at Cooke Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Throckmorton, he lived in Liberty many years and managed Allsurance Insurance Agency. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Odell of Liberty; sons, Michael Odell of Houston and Dennis Odell of Liberty; daughter, Patti Dickinson of Kingwood; and six grandchildren.

Ralph C. Peterson, 52, of Port Arthur died April 4, 2000 at his residence.
A private memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland.
A native of Hoboken, N.J., he lived in Port Arthur four years and was retired from the computer industry. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietname War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Robinson Peterson of Port Arthur; son, Russell Peterson of Elgin, Ill.; and stepsons, Craig Robinson, Alan Robinson and Blake Robinson, all of Austin.
LILLIE MAE SMITH
Lillie Mae Smith, 84, of Beaumont died April 3, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community Funeral Chapel on Irma Avenue with burial later at Live Oak Cemetery.
A native of Taylor, she lived in Beaumont 53 years and was a retired private home cook.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Otis Dean Swayzer, 42, of Beaumont died March 30, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
A graveside service will be at noon today at Pear Orchard Cemetery under the direction of Mercy Funeral Home on Gladys Avenue. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. today to time of service at the funeral home.
A native of Monroe, La., he lived in Beaumont 41 years.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Swayzer of Beaumont; sister, Robin McGriff of Beaumont; and brother, Cecil Brown of Beaumont.

Eddie Lee Whitaker, 81, of Beaumont died April 2, 2000 at Dubuis Hospital.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a memorial service from 7 to 9 p.m. at Maxson Memorial Church of God in Christ.
A native of Fletcher, she lived in Beaumont more than 30 years.
Survivors include sons, Leon Whitaker Jr. of Compton, Calif., and Ollis Whitaker Sr. of Beaumont; brother, Albert J. Reed of Houston; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Violet Bernice Bennett, 81, of Beaumont died April 17, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

A native of Glenpool, Okla., she lived in the Beaumont area 58 years and was retired in sales.

Gertie Blackwell, 95, of Hankamer died April 15, 2000 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Broussard’s Mortuary in Winnie with burial at Whittington Cemetery in Hankamer. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. today to time of service at the mortuary.
A lifelong resident of Hankamer, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Elsie Blend and Ida Haskins, both of Hankamer; brother, Wilburn Hill of Anahuac; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

Nell M. Callahan, 85, of Orange died April 18, 2000 at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, La. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A native of Ragley, she lived in Orange most of her life and was a pickle packer for Del Dixie Pickle.

A native of Village Mills, he lived in Beaumont 45 years and was a bi-vocational pastor.

A native of Liberty, he lived in Beaumont a number of years and was a retired laborer for Bridges Construction.

A longtime resident of Broaddus, he was a retired supervisor for DuPont and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
