MERTHA D. HARRIS

Mertha D. Harris, 65, of Jasper died June 2, 2000 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Jasper with burial at Campground Cemetery in Jasper under the direction of Robinson’s Community Funeral Home in Jasper. A wake service will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was a native of Jasper.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Harris of Jasper; daughters, Helen Rose Gillis, Melinda McQueen and Janet Harris, all of Jasper; sons, Danny Harris and Paul Harris, both of Houston; sisters, Hester Chinn of Hitchock, Merdessie Hadnot of Houston, and Estell Hadnot and Penelope Hadnot, both of Jasper; and four grandchildren.

CARLA S. HOPKINS

Carla S. Hopkins of Lumberton died June 4, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Village Mills Cemetery in Village Mills under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary.

A native of San Saba, she lived in Lumberton many years and was a retired postmaster.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen Case of Lumberton; sons, James C. Hopkins of Rosenburg, Joe A. Hopkins of Vidor and Thomas D. Hopkins of Sugarland; sister, Helen Heatherly of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

EARL W. ‘BUSTER’ MARSHALL

Earl W. "Buster’’ Marshall, 81, of DeRidder, La., died June 4, 2000 in Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of DeRidder with burial at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 2 to 11 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

A native of Longville, La., he lived in DeRidder most of his life and was the former owner of Service Cleaners in DeRidder. He was also World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his sons, Ronnie Marshall and Donnie Marshall, both of DeRidder; brothers, Harry "Totsie’’ Marshall of DeRidder and Syd Marshall of Shreveport, La.; and two grandchildren.

RUBY MAE McFATTER

Ruby Mae McFatter, 95, of Port Arthur died June 4, 2000 at her residence.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Rhea’s Mill Community, she lived in Port Arthur many years and was a retired Greyhound Bus Lines ticket agent.

Survivors include her sister, Imogene Bledsoe of Celina; grandchildren, Clifford Gouner of Beaumont, Meredith Avilez of Groves, Rene Cozad of Crofton, Md., and Patti Smith of Denton; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

LOWILDA MIMMS

Lowilda Mimms, 95, of Beaumont died June 1, 2000 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary. Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

A native of Opelousas, La., she lived in Beaumont 78 years.

Survivors include her son, Darrell Dickerson of Newark, Calif.; sister, Elouise King of San Antonio; one daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

FLOYD A. PEVETO

Floyd A. Peveto, 95, of Nederland died June 5, 2000 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Johnson Bayou, La., he was a longtime resident of Nederland was a retired Union Oil operator and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his daughter, Carol A. Fontenot of Nederland; son, Carl Peveto of Waco; sisters, Patty Douglas of North Carolina and Helen Louise Peveto of Bridge City; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

JOHN JUNIOR SCHULTZ

John Junior Schultz, 75, of Orange died June 5, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange with cremation handled by Wilbert Crematory. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

A native of Viroqua, Wis., he lived in Orange and was a retired Levingston Shipbuilding machinist and World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna Schultz of Orange; sons, Roy Schultz of Orange; daughters, Beverly Allan of Ontario, Wis., Dianna Schultz of Kansas City, Ks., and Misha Wiggins and Ann Roberts, both of Orange; brother, Fred Schultz of Viroqua; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

CYNTHIA JANE ‘CINDY’ SMITH

Cynthia Jane "Cindy" Smith, 52, of Bronson died June 4, 2000 at Sabine County Hospital.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the deceased’s residence in Bronson with burial at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill.

A native of Jasper, she lived in Bronson and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Robert "PeeWee" Smith of Bronson; parents, Ben Smith Sr. of Pineland and Charlotte King of Bronson; son, Dustin Smith of Lufkin; brother, Ben Smith Jr. of Jasper; sisters, Susan Padgett of Lufkin and Libi Smith of Nacogdoches; and two grandchildren.

THOMAS SIDNEY STRICKLAND JR.

Thomas Sidney Strickland Jr., 79, of Montgomery died June 5, 2000.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at West Conroe Baptist Church with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction Metcalf Funeral Directors in Conroe. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Pineland, he was a former resident of Beaumont and worked for DuPont Chemical Co. and was the former Texas Golf Association director. He was also a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Strickland of Montgomery; daughters, Sue Spivey of Attleboro, Mass., and Judy Black of Houston; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Crown of Texas Hospice in Conroe.

JOHN THURSTON WALKER

John Thurston Walker, 76, of Liberty died June 4, 2000 at his residence.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with burial at Earthman Memory Garden’s in Baytown. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Groveton, he lived in Liberty 18 years and was a retired Spring Air Mattress Company accountant. He was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his sons, Danon Walker of San Leon and David Walker of Galveston; daughters, Candice Rosencrantz of Alaska, Donna Walker Schmitz of North Hollywood, Calif., and Debra Walker Earl of Van Nuys, Calif.; brother, Jonas English of Hillister; sister, Alice Aman of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY OSENBAUGH WATSON

Dorothy Osenbaugh Watson, 69, of Broaddus died June 4, 2000 in Lufkin.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home in San Augustine with burial Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park.

A native of San Augustine, she lived in Broaddus many years and worked for The Kiddie Park in San Antonio.

Survivors include her mother, Gertrude Young of Broaddus; sons, Joe Osenbaugh of Broaddus and Roy Osenbaugh of Indianapolis, Md.; daughter, Diana Snavely of Mico; and four grandchildren.

T.J. WELLS

T.J. Wells, 78, of Kirbyville died June 3, 2000 at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville with burial at Davis Cemetery near Bon Wier under the direction of E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville.

A native of Many, La., and longtime resident of Beaumont, he lived in Kirbyville many years and was a retired U.S. Steel warehouseman. He was also a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include sons, Virgil "Sonny" Wood of San Antonio, Elbert "Buddy" Wood of The Woodlands and Billy Wood of Jewett; daughter, Paula Wood Bond of Fort Worth; sister, Alice Land of Austin; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

FREDERICK R. BLANCHETTE

Frederick R. Blanchette, 85, of Sour Lake died May 30, 2000 at Dubuis Hospital.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Wallace Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Beaumont, he lived in Sour Lake many years and was retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company.

Survivors include his wife, Dolly Blanchette of Sour Lake; son, Fred R. Blanchette Jr. of Sour Lake; daughter, Carolyn Nan O’Neal of Fort Worth; sister, Barbara Woods Wade of Arkansas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or charity of choice.

CLARA LEE LAVENDER BLANCO

Clara Lee Lavender Blanco, 92, of Port Arthur died May 30, 2000 at Park Place Medical Center in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Baptist Church with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A native of Santo, she lived in Port Arthur 74 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sons, Bill B. Blanco and James Harold Blanco, both of Port Arthur and "H.C.’’ Henry Charles Blanco Jr. of Fort Worth; daughters, Barbara Ann Christopher of Houston, Joan Marie Colichia of Lake Charles, La., and Dolores Dikes and Evelyn Richard, both of Port Arthur; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

SUSAN A. BRADHAM

Susan A. Bradham, 99, of Port Neches died May 29, 2000 at Rose House in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Shelby County, she lived in Port Neches 77 years and was a retired Jefferson County-Port Neches Library librarian.

Survivors include her daughter, Maxine Youngblood of Port Neches; sister, Laura Moseley of Beaumont; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Port Neches.
