JAMES H. CHAPMAN

James H. Chapman, 76, of Gilchrist died May 24, 2000 at his residence.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Gilchrist under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Winnie.

A native of Effingham, Ill., he lived in Gilchrist most of his life and was the owner of Gilchrist Service Center.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Chapman of Gilchrist; stepsons, Gary Dean of Cleveland, N.Y., and Jerry Dean of Taberg, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Nancy Sheridan of Osceola, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

E.M. COURT JR.

E.M. Court Jr., 77, of Port Arthur died May 29, 2000 at Christus St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Baton Rouge, La., he lived in Port Arthur most of his life and was a retired Gulf Oil and Refining employee. He was also a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Byrdie Frances Court of Port Arthur; sons, Charles Emerson Court of Early, Michael W. Court of Bridge City and Rickey L. Court of Port Arthur; daughter, Marion Frances Tompkins of Port Acres; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

ZULA LEE DUNN

Zula Lee Dunn, 83, of Baytown died May 29, 2000 in a Baytown Hospital.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home in Lufkin with burial at Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Angelina County and former resident of Beaumont 62 years, she lived in Baytown many years and was a retired beautician.

Survivors include her sons, Tom Dunn of Lufkin and Gary Dunn of Baytown; sister, Imogene Lee Ford of California; and five grandchildren.

IDA ‘MAMA IDA’ FOREST

Ida "Mama Ida’’ Forest, 89, of Fannett died May 29, 2000 at her residence.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont with graveside service at 3 p.m. at City Cemetery in Liberty.

A native of Church Point, La., and former longtime resident of Liberty, she lived in Fannett five years and was a retired Grank Leader in Liberty salesperson.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas L. Dearbonne of Fannett and William F. Dearbonne of Meeker; sisters, Ollie Wiebelhaus of Liberty, Virginia Abshure of Nederland and Charlene Wells of Beaumont; brother, John Morris Blanchard of China; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Beaumont, Texas 77705-8878

MARCELLA J. KOEHN

Marcella J. Koehn, 72, of DeRidder, La., died May 29, 2000 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, La.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Mennonite Church, DeRidder with burial at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

A native of Canton, Kan., she lived in DeRidder25 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Sam Koehn of DeRidder; sons, Merlynn Koehn of Dumas, Ark., Laurem Koehn of DeRidder and Willis Koehn of McIntire, Iowa; daughters, Elaine Koehn and Lynda Koehn, both of DeRidder; brothers, Leroy Becker of Moundridge, Kan., and John Becker of Newton, Kan.; sisters, Wilma Nightingale of Galva, Kan, Doris Unruh of Halstead, Kan., Nadine Unruh and LaVaun Wenger, both of Moundridge, Deola Wenger of Walnut Hill, Fla., and Judy Koehn of Motezuma, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.

BILLY DEAN MOORE

Billy Dean Moore, 62, of Nederland died May 29, 2000 at Christus St. Mary Hospital.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred under the direction of Pat A. Riley Funeral Home in Nederland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Buna, he lived in Nederland many years and was a retired Dupont welder.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Moore of Nederland; mother, Emma Moore of Evadale; son, Wayne Moore of Nederland; daughter, Terri Moore of Silsbee; and two grandchildren.

VILA CAESAR NESBITT

Vila Caesar Nesbitt, 69, of Beaumont died May 25, 2000 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital.

Her body was donated to the University of Texas Medical Branched Willed Body program in Galveston. A memorial service will be held Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lake Charles, La.

She lived in Beaumont many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Nesbitt White of Beaumont; sister, Willa Mae Taylor of Port Arthur, Hilda Kaough of Lake Charles, La., Vivian Kellum of Los Angeles, Calif., Margaret Jackson of Sacramento, Calif.; brothers, Junius Caesar of Honolulu, Hawaii and Jessie Caesar of Boston, Mass.; granddaughter, Jessica White of Beaumont; two step grandchildren;

SYLVESTER RIVERA

Sylvester Rivera, 74, of Beaumont died May 27, 2000 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. today at Cristo Rey Catholic Church under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont. A lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was a retired painter.

Survivors include his daughter, Vickie Castillo of Vidor; sons, David Rivera of Mauriceville, Reginald Rivera of Lumberton and Alex P. Rivera of Vidor; mother, Caterina Rivera of Beaumont; sisters, Beatrice Degolledo of Houston, Minnie Del La Rosa of Groves, Esperanza Padierna of Winnie and Carolyn Padilla, Mary Alice Rivera and Martha Flores, all of Beaumont; brothers, Joe Rivera of Beaumont and Gilbert Rivera of Fort Worth; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

SHELIA CHANCE SHARP

Shelia Chance Sharp, 47, of Fred died May 29, 2000 in Fred.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred.

A native of Silsbee, she was a retired Wal-Mart sales clerk.

Survivors include her sons, William Earl Sharp and Justin Ray Rhodes, both of Silsbee; mother, Helen Chance of Fred; sisters, Virginia Faye Callaway of Silsbee and Nelvia Hollyfield of Fred; brother, Roy Wayne Chance of Silsbee; and one grandchild.

MARTIN EDWARD ‘BUCKO’ SPEARS

Martin Edward "Bucko’’ Spears, 19, of Silsbee died May 29, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Hooks Cemetery in Kountze. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Silsbee, he was a mechanic for Silsbee Lawnmower.

Survivors include his parents, Gene and Laura McKinzy Jr. of Silsbee; brothers, Mark Spears and David Spears, both of Freeport; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Spears of Port Arthur and April Marie Spears of Silsbee; and grandmother, Martha Helen Brown of Silsbee.

RICHARD VU

Richard Vu, 39, of Orange died May 26, 2000 in a boating accident.

Services will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Sparrow Funeral Home with additional services Friday in Los Angeles, Calif., with burial at Melrose-Abbey Cemetery in Los Angeles under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home in Orange.

A native of Saigon, Viet Nam, he lived in Orange two years. And was a self employed fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Tiffany Vu of Orange; father, Vinh K. Vu; daughters, Kristina Vu and Jennifer Vu, both of Orange; brothers, Jesse Vu and Tom Vu of Garden Grove, Calif., James Vu of Lafayette, La., and Timothy Vu of Lake Forrest, Calif.; sisters, My Vu of Costa Mesa, Calif., Mi Mi Vu and Mai Dyne Vu, both of Garden Grove, Stephanie Vu, Chynna Vu and Linda Vu, all of Westminster, Calif.; and 27 grandchildren.

MARGUERITE IMOGENE WADDELL

Marguerite Imogene Waddell, 87, of Bridge City died May 29, 2000 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Bridge City with graveside service at 1 p.m. at Holland Cemetery near Village Mills under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Oakdale, La., and former resident of Port Arthur, she lived in Bridge City 42 years and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son, Marvin Waddell of Bridge City; daughter, Karen DuBose of Bridge City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

JOHNNIE J. WALKER

Johnnie J. Walker, 91, of Beaumont died May 30, 2000 at Baptist Healthcare System.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Baptist Church with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Brookhaven, Miss., he lived in Beaumont many years and was a retired Mobil Oil operator. He was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his son, Rex Walker of Bonwell; daughters, Linnie Smith of Beaumont; brother, Ernest W. Walker of Austin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

PETER YOUNG

Peter Young, 70, of Beaumont died May 29, 2000 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Ghost Temple with burial at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Mortuary. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church.

A native of Opelousas, La., he lived in Beaumont 40 years.

Survivors include his sons, Louis Peter Young Sr., Rodney Lee Young Sr., and Issac Ray Young Sr., all of Beaumont and Jerry Wayne Young Sr. of Florissant, Mo.; daughters, Bobbie Lee Limbrick, Barbara Ann Young and Sylvia Bell, all of Beaumont, Rozetta Kaufman of Sugarland and Rose Derousselle of Port Arthur; sister, Audrey Mae Mitchell and Rosa Mae Sigarst, both of Beaumont; brother, Huey P. Young of Beaumont; 35 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

DELLA HOPSON ALFSEN

Della Hopson Alfsen, 82, of Beaumont died May 22, 2000 at her residence.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

A native of Carsen, La., she lived in Beaumont many years and was a retired beauty operator.

Survivors include her brothers, Roy Leggett of Arcadia and W.C. Leggett of Muskogee, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
