Funeral arrangements for William Harold Mims Sr., 77, of Latexo, are pending at Bailey & Foster in Grapeland.
Mr. Mims died today at his residence.

George Nelson

Funeral arrangements for George Henry Nelson, 60, of Palestine, are pending at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Nelson died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 23, 1942 in Rock Island, Ill. to George John Nelson and Kathryn Louise Full Nelson.
He was a marine engineer for the Merchant Marine.

Kian  Washington

Funeral arrangements for Kian  Washington, 90, of Fort Worth, and formerly of Palestine, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs.  Washington died Thursday at Diagnostic-Memorial Hospital in Houston.

Raymond Fletcher

Funeral arrangements for Raymond Fletcher, 80, of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster in Palestine.
Mr. Fletcher died this morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Moises DeLeon

Services for Moises DeLeon, 38, of Palestine, and formerly of Mexico, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Rio Bravo, Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. DeLeon died July 16 in Trinity County.

He was born Aug. 6, 1963 in Mexico to Jilverto and Soledad Ramirez DeLeon.
Mr. DeLeon resided in  Texas since 1980. He was formerly employed by Manley Plumbing Co.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Mr. DeLeon is survived by his parents; sisters, Carmen DeLeon and Marivel DeLeon, of Mexico; brothers, Avran DeLeon and Ruven DeLeon, of Mexico, and Salvador Cruz of Palestine.

A memorial service and visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Palestine.

David “Big Dave” Hickman

Services for David “Big Dave” Hickman, 70, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Revs. Jim Easter and David Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.

Mr. Hickman died Wednesday night at his home.

He was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Montalba to Tom Hickman and Della Wall Hickman.
Mr. Hickman was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907. He was a truck driver.

Mr. Hickman was preceded in death by a sister, Mozelle Melton; brothers, Elmer Hickman and Luther Hickman; and granddaughter, Jennifer Hickman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hickman of Palestine; son, Ronnie Hickman of Palestine; sister, Inez Langston of Houston; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Semien, Felder Gurganus, Lico Madrano, Nolan Fox, Austin Cornell and Fred Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be oilfield co-workers.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A.B. “Bodie” Thornton Jr.

Services for A.B. “Bodie” Thornton Jr., 68, of Gun Barrell City, and formerly of Blackfoot community, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Gun Barrell City with the Revs. Byron Jones, B.F. Reisinger and Lynn Stroud officiating. Masonic graveside services led by Tyre Lodge No. 198 will follow at 2 p.m. at Rock Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Thornton died July 21 in Canton.
He was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Groesbeck to Avery Bolton Thornton Sr. and Lydia Ann Dugan Thornton.

Mr. Thornton was employed at Navarro Junior College in the bookstore. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrell City and the Masonic Tyre Lodge No. 198 AF&AM.
Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by a brother, A.Z. “Red” Thornton; and sisters, Erma Lee Magee and Letis Otis.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Thornton of Gun Barrell City; son, Lynn Thornton of Grapeland; brother, Jack Thornton of Tennessee Colony; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Buck Otis, Roger Otis, Chuck Thornton, James Magee, A.Z. Thornton and Toby Thornton.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ruby Reppond

Services for Ruby Reppond of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Benny Burlison officiating. Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mrs. Reppond died Wednesday at Cartmell Home for Aged.

She was reared in  Louisiana and lived in Houston before moving to Palestine in 1981. She was a Baptist.

Mrs. Reppond was an art teacher and artist in Houston and spent a number of years working with Hunter Ministries. She was involved with the Palestine Art League.

She is survived by son, Paul Reppond of Palestine; daughter, Linda Burke of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of East  Texas.

J.B. Burton

Services for J.B. Burton, 99, of Neches, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive/Sand Flat Baptist Church in Frankston. Burial will follow in Flint Hill Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.

He died July 19 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Burton was born Oct. 28, 1902 in Neches to Joe Burton and Carrie Jeter Burton.

Mr. Burton was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia Mathis Burton; a daughter; and three siblings, Will Burton, Alton Burton and Mae Ella Burton Miller.

Mr. Burton is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Lewis George Kimball III

Services for Lewis George Kimball III, 39, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Kimball died Thursday at his home.
He was born May 29, 1963 in Houston to Lewis George Kimball Jr. and Jeanette Huddleston Kimball.

Mr. Kimball had live in Palestine for 16 years coming from Houston. He was a member of Fields Chapel United Methodist Church. He graduated from Smithson Valley High School. He worked for the  Texas Department of Criminal Justice in the transportation department at the Gurney Unit.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1981; and a brother, Travis Lynn Kimball, in 1991.

Mr. Kimball is survived by his mother, Jeanette Kimball of Palestine; wife, Deborah Kimball of Palestine; daughters, Dena Minchew of Jacksonville and Kasey Kimball of Palestine; grandparents, Travis and Emma Lou Huddleston of Palestine; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Banchack, Terry Bradshaw, Lewis Randall, Keith Bailey, David Books, and John Day.

Honorary pallbearer will be Rodney Harding.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of East  Texas.

Izola Hollie Kindle

Services for Izola Hollie Kindle, of Houston, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Buck Street Church of God in Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Frazier & Mitchell Funeral Services of Houston.

Mrs. Kindle taught public school in the Neches area and was a member of McDonald Church of Christ before moving to Houston.

L.B. “Elbirtis” Harris
Services for L.B. “Elbirtis” Harris, 88, of Frankston, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Frankston with the Revs. Eddie Hilburn, J.A. Griffin and Gerald Hall Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Frankston City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.
Mr. Harris died Tuesday at Frankston Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 27, 1914, in DeBerry.
Mr. Harris was a concrete finisher and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Tiny Mae Harris; and son, Elvin Harris.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Thelma Harris of Frankston; sons, Ray F. Harris of Frankston, James E. Harris of Jacksonville and Jimmy R. Harris of Athens; daughters, Nettie Holland of Malakoff, Nell Hall of Palestine and Diane Beard of Frankston; brother, Walter Ray Harris of Jacksonville; sister, Eula Mae Mize of Waskom; 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Harris, Craig Hawkins, Gerald Hall Jr., Craig Friberg, Joshua Harris, Greg Goodwin, Paul Hintz and Chad Leonard.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Maxine Adelle Qualls

Memorial services for Maxine Adelle Qualls, 70, will be held at a later date in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Mrs. Qualls died Thursday at Palestine Regional Medical Center. She was cremated. Arrangements are being handled by McCoy Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mrs. Qualls was born Dec. 9, 1931 in Traverse City, Mich. to Harold and Adella Ryan Sheldon.
She was a Lutheran and a lifetime member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the VFW. She was a graduate of North Central School of Practical Nursing in Traverse City and completed her internship at Little Traverse Hospital in Petoskey, Mich. She worked 41 years as a neonatal nurse at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. Upon retiring she moved to Palestine.
Mrs. Qualls was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Oliver Kocher and Joe Qualls; and sister, Virginia Matterson.
She is survived by daughters, Pamela Hasty of Palestine; sons, Richard Kocher of Palestine, Mike Kocher of California and Dan Kocher of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sisters, Sandra Wurm of Traverse City, Mich., Teresa Wood of Rapid City, Mich., and Lois Saunby of Hatley, Wis.; brothers, Keith Sheldon and Dale Sheldon, both of Traverse City, Mich.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Palestine.

Doris Leathers Hunt

Services for Doris Leathers Hunt, 88, of Oakwood, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Alvin Moore Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Hill and Bart Reddoch officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Hunt died Saturday at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born Jan. 12, 1914, in Oakwood to Robert Perry Leathers and Zula Cox Leathers.
Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker and a member of Alvin Moore Memorial Methodist Church. She graduated from Oakwood High School and Sam Houston State University. She was a charter member of the Palestine Harvey Woman’s Club, a member of the William Findley chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and numerous other clubs and organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Hunt, in 1999.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by daughter, Julia Jane Hunt of Carrollton; and sister, Frances Jane Holsey of San Antonio.
Pallbearers will be Lee Bing, Al Matthews, Brent Bing, Mc O. Johnson, Mac Vannatta, Arleigh McAtee and Dave Hailey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred L. Magourik Jr. and Buck Gilbert.
Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Unit of Cartmell Home for Aged; to the Alvin Moore Memorial Methodist Church, P.O. Box 38, Oakwood,  Texas, 75855; or to a charity of choice.
