Llena L. Lopez

In Celebration of the life of LLENA LARANG LOPEZ Born April 8, 1951 to Jesus and Leonora Larang in Labunao, Iloilo, Philippines, Llena was the eldest of 5 children. She became a nurse in the Philippines and worked abroad in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Later Llena moved to New Jersey and worked in Irvington General Hospital and the VA East Orange. She married George J. Lopez and together they raised 2 children. In 1985 the Lopez family relocated to Sugar Land, TX where Llena continued her nursing career at MD Anderson Cancer Center, TDC Jester 3, the VA Houston, and Memorial Hermann SW. She retired from the VA Denver, CO. Llena loved the Lord Jesus Christ and singing praise songs to Him. She enjoyed telling stories, gardening and was a war history enthusiast. Llena was loved by everyone. She is survived by her husband, George; daughter, Lora; son, John; granddaughter, Hannah; brother, Matt; sisters, Victoria, Jesusa and Rosemarie; and many friends whom she loved and will remember her fondly. We will miss your giving heart, healing hands and sense of humor. But we'll see you on Glory's side Welcome Home! Viewing will be held in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 2:00-8:00pm and Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 11:00am-5:00pm.

Audrey Thomas

AUDREY THOMAS was born March 29, 1935 in Twickenham, England. She was married December 26, 1953 to Julius Jurena, an American Serviceman, who died unexpectedly December 1968 while on duty in Montana. She subsequently relocated to Houston where she worked as a tour guide with the Astrodome, and had also worked with Texas Instruments for 9 years. She married William "BillPa" Thomas June 11, 1977 and is survived by him. Audrey relocated and resided in Longview, Texas in 1992 until 1999 and again relocated to Houston for medical treatment programs at MD Anderson. Preceded in death by children, Karen Milne and Glenn Jurena. Audrey is survived by daughter, Sheila Jurena; granddaughters, Julia Forte and Jennifer Scheile; great-granddaughter, Jade Scheile; and English Family. With a special ability and enthusiasm, she has pursued hobbies of sewing, knitting, and quilting. She was active in the TBPA English Club for many years, and has presented children's messages for her church when her health permitted. Her ability to remain positive in view of her leukemia treatment of the past 10 years has proven to be an example for other to follow. For those of us who knew her, she will be greatly missed here as she enjoys her heavenly rewards. Viewing will be held Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 2:00-5:00pm in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00am at Elmira Chapel Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at the church cemetery

James Garth Wells

James Garth Wells died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2008. Garth was born in Dallas, grew up in Fort Worth and had lived in Houston for the past 15 years. Garth graduated in 1983 from Western Hills High School. Garth started his college career at the University of Texas at Dallas. Garth went on to Texas A&I, Kingsville, where he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Garth later transferred to Texas A&M University where he graduated with a bachelor of science. Garth finally settled in Houston where he received his master of business administration from the University of Houston. Garth worked as an information technology consultant and was the author of two books.
Garth was a free spirit, loved to eat, and loved to find the best hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop restaurants. Garth loved to travel and attend sporting events. Most of all he loved his beautiful daughter, Sara.
Garth was preceded in death by his father, Dan Wells; grandparents, Felix and Louvenia Hudnall; and grandmother, Lorene Wells. Garth will be greatly missed. Garth leaves behind his beloved daughter, Sara of Houston; mother, Betty Staggs; sisters, Shannon Wells Rusnak, Lisa Guest, Anna Lisa Griffin; brother, Tony Staggs; stepfather and stepmother, Jerry and Leta Staggs; goddaughter Shelbie Shed of San Antonio, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and fraternity brothers.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Westridge Church of the Nazarene, 9500 Chapin Rd., Fort Worth. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Garth's name to a charity of your choice.

James A. Lawrence

James A. Lawrence, known also as “JL”, passed away at age 72 on March 7, 2008. Born December 17, 1936 in Columbus, MS, he was a graduate of Miss State Univ. He served in the Air Force and retired from the VA. He loved, sports, traveling and time with his friends. He is survived by his mother, Mildred and brother, Bill.

Doris W. Ramsay

Doris W. Ramsay, 81, born on June 25, 1926 in Scotland passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Houston, Texas. Doris will be missed by her family and friends.

CARRIE BEA MURPHY, born in Warren, AR on October 11, 1929, passed away in Houston, TX on March 6, 2008. Carrie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Pinkie Murphy, Jr.; son, Timothy Pinkie Murphy and wife Cindy; 25daughter, Gale Elizabeth Thomas; son, Sean Patrick Murphy; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation, Saturday, March 8, 2008 in the chapel of Miller Funeral Services from 3:00-6:00 pm. Graveside service to be held in Alexander (Little Rock), Arkansas.

Donald B. Burnett

Donald Ben Burnett, Jr., born in Tampa, Florida on July 8, 1955, passed away in Houston, TX on March 5, 2008. Preceded in death by his mother, Elaine, Don is survived by his father, Don, Sr.(wife Nancy); brothers, Mark and Tim (wife Nancy); three nephews; and beloved dog, Savannah. Don is also survived by many dear friends including Steve, Tony, Linda, and Robin. Services pending. Friends ask that a donation in Don's name be made to the SPCA.

Beatrice E. Landman
March 24, 1923 - May 01, 2011

Beatrice E. Landman, was born in Mason, Wisconsin on March 24, 1923 and passed away on May 1, 2011 at the age of 88.
Bea was third of ten children born by Margret Olsen and Herbert Nystrom a well driller and farmer.
Bea lived on the family farm of 40 acres in Mason, Wisconsin with her nine brothers and sisters where she helped with family chores. Milking Cows was not her favorite job. She worked in the family store and operated the local switch board for ATT in their house. She did whatever jobs needed to help provide for the family including caring for her younger siblings.
Bea attended Ashland High school, class of 41. She received her teaching certificate from Eau Clair State Teachers College and Superior States Teachers College in Wisconsin. Bea started her teaching career in a one room school house in Mason, WS and then continued it in California. After 7 years of teaching she returned to Wisconsin to complete her Bachelors of Arts Degree from Wisconsin State College. Bea returned to California to complete a total of 37 years as a school teacher prior to her retirement in 1983. She held a General Elementary Life Credential in teaching. In California she taught predominantly 1st and 2nd grades at Monterey, Newmark, and Rio Vista schools for a total of 30 years in the San Bernardino California Unified School District.
Bea was an active member of several service organizations including the Emblem Club of San Bernardino and the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was especially active in Eastern Star, Gate City Chapter in San Bernardino, California for many years. Bea held the Eastern Star office of Worthy Matron in 1980, and Deputy Grand Matron in 1989. In 1990, she moved to Houston to be closer to her Son Royce and Granddaughter Cher. She became an active member of Eastern Star Blue Bell Chapter and an Eastern Star volunteer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for 10 years.
Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Claude J. Landman; and brothers, Willard, Howard, Jack, and Herb Nystrom. Bea is survived by her son, Royce Landman and wife Judy; grandchildren, Cher, Ryan, and Kyle; and sisters, Marion Westlund, Jane Nordin, Lois Cleveland, Maxine Sawyer and Joan Koch. Bea was an extremely hard worker, dedicated teacher and active member of service organizations throughout her life. Bea was a loving mother and friend and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

MARY C. PRITCHETT passed away at the age of 92. She is survived by, daughter Sue Ashe; grandson, Donald Hayslip; granddaughter, Darlene Jarrell; six great grandchildren, and three great - great grandchildren. Viewing to be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services from 2:00-6:00 PM. Religious service to begin at 5:00 PM.

Rita Faye P. Chidichimo

Rita Faye Zaugg Pease Chidichimo, 68, of Houston, TX went peacefully to be with the Lord on Feb. 27, 2008. She was born on July 13, 1939 in Mitchell, SD. Rita is preceded in death by her husband Alex Chidichimo, and two sisters, Zona Guinen and LeRea Andera. She is survived by her children, Michael Pease, Theresa Pease and Colleen Avalos; sisters, Darla McComb, and Alice Biers; brothers, LaDon Zaugg and Reginald Cummings; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Rita enjoyed world travel, arts and her circle of international friends. Viewing begins at 2:00pm, followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:30pm, March 3, 2008 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079. Rita will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memorial Oaks cemetery.

Mary K. Montgomery

KATHLYN BALLARD MONTGOMERY passed away suddenly on February 26, 2008. She was born on May 8, 1938 near Center, Texas. She grew up in Houston and was a 1957 graduate of Lamar High School where she was voted a class beauty and a member of the basketball and volleyball teams at Lamar. She married Sam Montgomery, Jr. and remained devoted to him until his death. Kathlyn was a generous, kind, gracious, and caring person. She and Sam enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their home. She enjoyed gardening and she and Sam traveled extensively. She is survived by her sons John Inzer Montgomery and Sam Montgomery III (Trey); brothers Dan Ballard and John Vallone; sister Ann Malone and husband Mike and many nieces and nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Montgomery, Jr.; mother Edna Vallone; brother Michael Roy Vallone; her parents-in-law Sam and Fern Montgomery. Memorial services will be on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Chapelewood Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay St. Houston 77024. For those desiring, the family suggest a donation to the American Heart Association

Margaret L. Lovorn

MARGARET L. LOVORN, 85, of Houston, Texas passed away Sunday evening February 24, 2008. She was born January 19, 1923 in Winters, Texas. Margaret was a resident of Ingleside, Texas for 20 years. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1971. Margaret was married to Robert West who preceded her in death. She was the owner of Plants and Accents shop for several years. Margaret is survived by son, Ron Kilpatrick; daughter, Pat Kilpatrick; two step daughters, Mary West, and Diane French; two grandchildren, Michelle Welch and Darlene Kilpatrick; and three great grandchildren, Garrett, Johan, and Daniel Welch. Services will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Mausoleum Chapel, 12800 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77077, Friday, February 29, 2008 at 1:00 PM.

Gene Robb

GENE ROBB born Jan 5, 1932 passed away peacefully on Feb 20, 2008. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Marceil Robb and parents Maurice and Virginia Robb. Born in Higbee, MO, Gene was a long-time resident of Houston. He served faithfully in the Navy and Korean War. He worked for the Wabash Railroad before moving to Houston. Gene and son Randy operated Southern Flame Spray for 20 years where he continued until death. He is survived by his son Randy and wife Valerie, daughter Robyn and husband Terry Terwelp, son Bruce and wife Colleen, grandchildren Tyler Terwelp and wife Emily, Josh Terwelp, Dana Riley and husband David, Zach Robb and wife Chris, David Gene Robb and Crystal Robb, his sister, Betty Mowery and husband Wayne as well as numerous great-grandchildren, loving family members and friends. A small private family service will be held.

James Phillip Anthony

James Phillip Anthony, Jr. passed away on February 20, 2008 in Houston, Texas. He was a resident of Houston all of his adult life. Born in Denver, Colorado on March 16, 1924, Jim's family moved to Albuquerque where he attended high school and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1945 from Rice University, where he was elected to Tau Beta Pi, an honorary engineering fraternity, was a member of Naval ROTC, and played varsity tennis. Jim met his wife of 61 years, Catherine Henry Anthony, while they were both students at Rice University. During World War II Jim served as a Communications Officer and cryptographer in the U.S. Navy. After the war he earned a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado. Jim loved cheerleading in high school and at Rice. Jim was an engineer with General Geophysical Company and Mandrel Industries before becoming the Marketing Manager of Texas Instruments Petroleum Automation group. He joined Weekley and Valenti Advertising/Public Relations in 1960, where he served as an officer, account supervisor, and director. In 1979 he started his own consulting company. During the course of his career Jim had many articles and books published for clients and many of his photographs were used on the covers and in advertising for technical trade magazines. Jim and Catherine were long-time members of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. They enjoyed several international trips with Rice University alumni. An active member of the Houston Racquet Club, tennis was a lifelong passion for Jim. He was a whiz at computers and played several musical instruments. This gentle, fun-loving man spent countless hours teaching three generations of his family - and numerous girl scouts - to swim, sail, tie knots, snow and water ski, hike, fish, canoe, camp, bike, and even to drive a stick shift Singer convertible. He and Catherine organized and led many sailing weekends at the Casa Mare Girl Scout Camp and canoeing trips on the Guadalupe River. As a life-long photographer he recorded happy memories with family and friends. Some of his favorite vacation spots were the ski slopes of Breckenridge; rustic cabins at Twin Lakes, Colorado; the family home in Santa Fe, New Mexico; the lake house at Lake Livingston, Texas; and fishing at Cow Creek Ranch in Pecos, New Mexico. Known for his clever puns and indefatigably positive attitude, he was always at peace with himself and the world around him. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James P. Anthony, Sr. and Florence Ballard Anthony, and his grand-daughter Catherine Lehman. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Anthony, daughters and sons-in-law Libby and Lester Lehman, Cathy and Bill Arnold, Ellen and Bill Askey, and Sarah Davis. He is also survived by grandchildren Susan and Ron Gutierrez, Lester Lehman, Jr., Phillip and Debbie Askey, Chelsa Davis, Justin Davis, Elizabeth and Richard Dennis, and great-grandchildren Abbigail, Bailey, Carlee, and Cameron Gutierrez, and Morgan and Harrison Askey. The family would like to thank Rosalind Brown for her kindness and care. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 26th in the sanctuary of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Donations can be made to My Friends Foundation, a charity for children in crisis, P.O.
