JACK VERMELLE CRAGG, Born August 9, 1924 in Baytown, Texas, passed away November 1, 2008 in Houston. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a son. Jack is survived by sons, Gordon (Rita) and Jack, Jr. (Julie), 2 brothers, Gene and Gordon, 8 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 5 2008, in the Sanctuary of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77079. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Jack's name to the Caring Forever Foundation @ www.mdumc.org.

Gilbert Gonzalez

Gilbert Gonzalez Jr., 56, of Nederland, went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Gonzalez; sons, Abel Gonzalez and wife Brandi, Adam Gonzalez and wife Hana; sisters, Hilda, Becky and Rosie; brother, Danny; six grandchildren Amber, Victoria, Maycie, Abel Jr., Cory and Vivian; and a host of  family and friends. Gilbert was an Army veteran and also worked in construction most of his life. A memorial will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church located at 211 Hardy Ave. Nederland, Texas 77627 on Thursday October 23, at 10:00am.

John R. Morris

John R. Morris, 65, of Sugar Land, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008, surrounded by his son and friends. He is survived by many loving family members, friends, and the Sugar Land real estate community. A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008, at Sugar Land Bible Church, 401 Matlage Way, Sugar Land, TX, 77478, with Pastor Mark Choate officiating. Gloria Ann Phillips

Gloria Ann Phillips, born March 19, 1942, died on Monday, October 13, 2008, at 66 years of age. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Harlan Phillips; father, Floyd Lafferty; daughter Karen Castillo and her husband, Ramiro; grandchildren, Noah, Graciella, Jude, and Julianna; sisters, Betty Fletcher, Floy Schroeder, and Bobbie Castanon; and many nieces and nephews. Gloria is preceded in death by her mother, Jewel Lafferty. Gloria was a mighty woman of God, full of faith, and loved the word of the Lord. Everyone loved Gloria. She was always quick to smile and slow to anger. Illness took her last few years, but she's now in peace at home with our Father in Heaven. A Memorial Service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 18, 2008, followed by a Dove Release at Miller Funeral Chapel, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, TX, 77074. We all loved her so very much and she will be missed but never forgotten.

James Albert Moneypenny

James Albert Moneypenny, born February 25, 1946, went to be with the Lord February 2, 2009. A 29 year resident of Sugar Land, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lynne, their son, Patrick, and daughter, Megan.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7 at Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston.

James was a permanent substitute teacher at Kempner High School where he was known and loved by teachers, staff and students. His greatest passion, however, was music. His first 7 years of teaching was as a band director for middle schools in Austin and then for Clear Creek High School in League City. Recently, James enjoyed his membership as a clarinet player for the Missouri City Pops, a community band. He also sang bass with the Tallowood Baptist Church Choir, where his wit and warmth, as well as his voice, will be missed by all.

James demonstrated his musical talent early when he proudly served in the United States Army as a bandsman in the 4th Army Band, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio from 1966 to 1969. Continuing his love of music, James was a 1972 graduate of University of Texas – Austin with a Bachelor of Music Education, where he was also a member of the Longhorn Band.

Many young men will also remember James’ years of dedicated work with the Boy Scouts in which he served many positions. Other interests and hobbies in which James had great interest included woodworking, HO-gauge railroading, camping and hunting which he shared with family and friends.

Danielle Harding

Danielle Spencer Harding went to be with her Lord, Thursday, January 29, 2009, at age 69. She is survived by her husband, Wannen; four children, Leslie Ballis, Donna Adkison, Donald and Glenn Scott; four step-children, twenty grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Knipping and nieces and nephews
Friends and family are invited for visitation, Friday, February 6, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 8601 Chimney Rock Rd., Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials. Danielle will be missed by all and will remain lovingly in our hearts forever.

James Michael Condon

William Kelty Maher (Bill) February 8, 1927-Jan. 23, 2009

Born in Trenton, New Jersey to William K. Maher and Dorothy Maher, survived by his son, William K. Maher III of West Virginia, his former Wife Nicole Maher of Houston, brother Jack Maher of Leesburg, Virginia, sisters, Mary Patricia Casey of Bradenton, Fla. and Sharon Viljoen of Los Angles, Cal.
“Bill” grew up in the eastern states. His family moved to Bethesda, Maryland, a suburb
of Washington, D.C., when he was in 7th grade.
He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic grade school and Gonzaga High School.
Bill was a good student and a great athlete.
He then served in the Army during the occupation of Germany for three years.
He was a star boxer and player and earned a scholarship to Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Bill was Capitan of his football team and also boxed. He was listed in Who’s Who of American Colleges and Universities. He majored in Civil Engineering.
After graduating he worked for Peter Kiewit, a civil engineering company, for 22 years. After many moves including Thule, Greenland he settled in Austin, TX and worked 14 years for Austin County. After he retired he moved to Houston and participated in
many athletic events with several awards
Due to severe medical problems, he moved into The Cottages of Spring Branch in Houston where he lived until his death. He was known there for his kindness, courtesy and sense of humor.
