She was preceded in death by her parents Danny Contreras and Theodora Perez Contreras, her sister Sara Cerda; and brothers Tony and Juan Contreras. Survived by her husband Bill Seaman and loving children Camilo Contreras, Cathy Kubica and husband Jessy, her brothers and sisters Eliza DeLeon and husband Bonifacio, Helen Bocanegra and husband Ruben, Manuel Contreras and wife Margaret, Roy Contreras and wife Mary, David Contreras and wife Sylvia, brother in-law Juan Cerda, sister in-law Franny Contreras, daughter in-law Deborah Contreras; 2 grandchildren Camellia Ann Contreras, Lolita Irene Murrah and husband Jeremy, numerous nephews, nieces and special cousins from the Perez family, and her aunt Julia Perez de Aguilar. The Jews got to know [Jesus} was there, and they came, not on account of Jesus only, but also to see Lazarus, whom he raised up from the dead. John 12: 9 The resurrection has been demonstrated before eyewitnesses and recorded in God's Word. The Bible record contains detailed descriptions of eight resurrections of people brought back to life as humans on earth. These miracles were performed not in secret but openly, often in front of eyewitnesses. Jesus resurrected Lazarus, who had been dead for four days, in front of a crowd of mourners-no doubt including the man's family, friends and neighbors. This evidence that Jesus was sent by God was so forceful that Jesus' religious enemies never denied that it had happened. Instead, they plotted to kill not only Jesus but also Lazarus! (John 11:17-44, 53;12:10, 11) Yes, we can have confidence that the resurrection is a certainty. God has given us a record of past resurrections in order to comfort us and to build up our faith.

Alvin (Buddy) was born in Dallas, Texas, but moved to Houston shortly thereafter. He was the youngest of six children. The family grew up on the east side of Houston.

Alvin is survived by his wife Dee, his sisters Pat Benge and Maxine Jones, 8 stepchildren, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Alvin had a great affection for all of his stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchild and his niece, Regina and always looked forward to the next visit.

Alvin as a steel machinist for many years for Williams Machine for about 19 years and Bray Valve for about 10 years.

Alvin enjoyed yard work, his flower beds and fishing. He tenderly cared for his roses and shared his cuttings with several people. He passed the time bird watching from his kitchen window enjoying frequent visits from the tiny, colorful hummingbirds, sparrows, and red jays while reading his daily newspaper. He was fond of country music -- especially Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson. He read a good deal after retiring and liked going to the movie theatre occasionally. Alvin’s two dogs, Jake and Rosco, were his constant companions. He was a pretty good poker player and he liked Dominoes, Scrabble and Chess. Alvin’s favorite dinner was a steak and baked potato and his favorite restaurant was Steak ‘N Ale. In his later years, he developed quite a sweet tooth and looked forward to Sharon’s special baked goodies.

We will always cherish Alvin. He was one tough guy and hung in there for a long time. Alvin was a hard working, good, decent man. He was a demanding parent but he also let his children know that he loved them. He was always present, involved, and willing participating in daily life with all of us and you could always count on Alvin to be there whenever you needed him. We have many fond memories of Alvin and he will be sorely missed.
