John Noble Lewis

JOHN NOBLE LEWIS, born on September 17, 1929 in Reese, TX passed away in Houston at his home on March 6, 2009. John Noble was reared in Jacksonville, TX, graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a BBA, completed his CLU while in Houston, and retired after almost 40 years with Allstate Insurance Company. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lynette Lewis; son, John Paul Lewis; sister, Marcia Skillern and husband Roy; and numerous nephews. John Noble will be remembered for his love of sports and his warm hearted personality. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2009, 6:30 pm at Westbury Baptist Church, 10425 Hillcroft, Houston, TX 77096.

Jesus Vazquez Palacios, 79, born on February 20, 1930 in Mexico passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009 in Houston, Texas. Jesus will be missed by his family and friends.

Rodney Joseph Guy

Rodney Joseph Guy Sr., born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 25, 1954, to Robert I. Guy, II and Dorothy Hebert Guy, left us all unexpectedly on February 27, 2009, to be with his Lord Jesus.
Rodney graduated from Jefferson High School, and resided in Willis, Texas for the past 20 years. He will be remembered and greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Guy; brother, Robert Guy III; son, Rodney Guy Jr.; daughter, Jessica Harris; stepdaughter, Crystal Ezell; as well as 8 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 15, 2009, at the Willis Community Center, 600 Gerald St., Willis, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Dorothy Guy. Please call (281)419-3797.

Peggy O. Kirchheiner

PEGGY O KIRCHHEINER, age 73, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away March 3rd, 2009. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband William L. Kirchheiner, and son, David Kirchheiner. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Kirchheiner; daughter, Constance Kirchheiner, and husband Jake Guralnick; son, William W. Kirchheiner, and wife, Tria; and three grandchildren, Ava Guralnick, William Dane Kirchheiner, and Kai David Kirchheiner. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at www.michaeljfox.org. Interment will be at Houston National cemetery.

George Louis Taylor, 64, born on November 6, 1944 in Providence, Rhode Island passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009 in Houston, Texas. George will be missed by his family and friends.

Eva Mae Tiller

.EVA MAE LUCHER TILLER, 87, passed away Wednesday afternoon February 25, 2009 at home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles C. Tiller Sr. who had passed away on February 6, 2009, and her brothers Tony, Herman, and George Lucher. She is survived by her daughter Charlene Olmsted and her husband Mike; sons Charles Tiller Jr. and his wife Mary, and Dwight Tiller and his wife Belinda; in addition to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church and a native of New Waverly, Texas. While her husband served in WWII in the U.S. Army Medical Corp, Eva Mae worked for the War Ration Board. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked several years in the retail clothing industry. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, TX 77074. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday March 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr., Houston, Texas, 77081. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the local S.P.C.A. in the name of her dogs, Bonnie, Heidi and Daisy.

John Thomas Paul

John Thomas Paul, 54, born on July 8, 1954 in Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in Houston, Texas. John will be missed by his family and freinds.

John V. Brogan III

JOHN V. BROGAN III born June 30, 1959, passed away suddenly on February 23, 2009. He is survived by his loving daughter, Lorin Wallace and husband Jeremy; son, William; daughter Becky Wood and husband Matt; grandchildren Misty and Cody; parents, Estelle and Vince Brogan; brothers Michael and wife Laurie, Tim and wife Leslie, Patrick and wife Allison Pohl; sister, Maria Edwards and husband Will; numerous nieces and nephews; and devoted friends Bill Nolan and Brandon Appelt. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009 in the Miller Funeral Chapel, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, TX 77074. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks cemetery

Troy Mathew Heilman

Troy Matthew Heilman was born Loren Leigh Jones to Paul and Irma Jones in Peoria Illinois on April 20, 1943. He passed away February 20, 2009 in Houston, Texas. He was adopted when he was 16.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly (James) and Julie (Rick); granddaughters, BreAnna and Rhiannon, of Houston, Texas; brothers, Dan, Jeff (Lisa), and Brett Heilman; sister, Dee (Jack) Luft of Pekin, Illinois; and numerous other family members.
He is preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Orville and Charlene Heilman, Brother Paul Jones, and beloved grandson Eric.
He graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1962. After retiring from Sprint he spent his time fishing, relaxing at his lake house in Onalaska, Texas and being with his grandchildren. He will greatly missed by his family and friends.

Betsy Jane Gurley

BETSY JANE RAWSON GURLEY, born on October 12, 1931, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 19, 2009 after an eight year courageous battle with cancer. Betsy lived in Houston her entire life. She is preceded in death by her parents: Charles Lafayette and Beulah Calfee Rawson; husbands Arnold Malcolm Gurley II, James Edward Harms and Roy Marvin "Dusty" Rhodes; Betsy leaves to cherish her memories: daughters Janie Anne Bell Hurley and husband Stephen Craig, and Mary Sue Bell; grandchild Alisson Kaye Estes; and brother Charles Manly Rawson and wife Georgie. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Westminster United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster United Methodist Church, 5801 San Felipe, Houston, TX 77057.

Jane Marie Hajovsky Newman

JANE MARIE HAJOVSKY NEWMAN passed away, February 15, 2009. Born, September 5, 1925, the second of four children to Henry & Marie Hajovsky, of Houston. Graduated St. Agnes Academy, Houston, 1942. Graduated Benedictine College, Atchison Ks, BA in Mathematics, 1946. Jane began her professional career after college with Shell Oil in Houston. After her marriage in 1954, she focused on raising her family, her parish and enjoying her hobbies of music and sewing. As one of the founding families of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish, in Houston, Jane helped to develop the parish into an asset for the surrounding community. Most notably, she served as music director for CCD, helped launch the parish newspaper and was a Eucharistic Minister. Jane will be remembered as a loving and supportive wife, mother and friend who lived her life as a true disciple of Christ's Love. Her easy, natural charm, wisdom, grace and generous nature earned her the gift of many cherished, life-long friendships. Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bruce Newman, and her brother, Henry Hajovsky, of Houston. She is survived by her family of five children and their families; son Jeff Newman, his wife Nancy and their children Diana, Geoffery and John, of Sugar Land; son Pete Newman and his wife Joyce of Bellville; daughter Suzan Sabatucci, her husband Jay and their children Richard and Monica of Arlington; son Luke Newman, his wife Lee and their daughters Lauren and Lynn of Corpus Christi; son Royce Newman and his daughter Alyson, of Carrollton; brother Joe Hajovsky and his wife Mary Anne of Lake San Marcos, Ca.; and sister, Vessie Peters and her husband Joe, of Houston. James Wallace Austin

James Wallace Austin James (Jim) Wallace Austin passed away on Saturday evening, February 14, 2009 in Houston, Texas. Jim is survived by his long time spouse, Marianne, with whom he shared enviable devotion and joy for over 50 years. Jim also leaves behind a loving and grateful family, including his daughter (Leslie), sons (Robert and Steven) and their family members (Olivia, Denise, Cindy, Jordan, Forrest, Ally, Selena, Masen, and Avery, Selene, Ariadne, Remandra, and Phoebe) as well as a loving brother (Steve Austin), and sister (Nadya Crecelius) and their families. Jim was born January 12, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee where he lived very briefly before his family moved to Fort Thomas, KY. After completing high school in Fort Thomas, KY, he briefly attended Virginia Tech before joining the Army in 1956. Stationed in Germany, Jim met and married the love of his life, Marianne. Returning home in 1959 he quickly finished his studies at the University of Cincinnati, began a 17-year career with Air France and moved his family to Lombard, IL. Always a restless spirit, Jim’s entrepreneurial drive pushed him to move to South Texas in 1976 to run the first of two businesses. Jim’s last 10 years have been spent in the Kingwood area of Houston, where he could enjoy his retirement close to his family. The family that survives Jim is comforted by their memories of Jim’s epic generosity, sense of humor and kind-heartedness. He considered himself a “citizen of the world” and would be immensely gratified to know that his infectious curiosity, penchant for travel and love of irony has seeded generations to come.

George Crist Burger

GEORGE CRIST BURGER, 84, loved and devoted father, of Houston, TX, passed away on February 1, 2009 at his residence. He was born December 30, 1924 in Clay, PA. He was a World War II decorated veteran receiving the Bronze Star while serving as a medic in New Guinea. He worked for Memorial Hospital System as Chief Medical Technologist and Director of Laboratories, retiring after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cora Ogle of York, PA. He is survived by brothers, Ken and Bill Ogle of York, PA; daughters, Cecile Burger Teachout of Houston, TX, Camille Burger Love of Rockport, TX, Celeste Burger of Houston, TX; sons, Gaylord Crist Burger, Attorney, of Houston, TX, Kenneth Lamar Manchac of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandchildren, Devan Teachout Sewell of Houston, TX, Zachery and Collin Burger of Houston, TX, Hardy Manchac of Pensacola, FL, Francesca Manchac of Houston, TX, Chelsey and Monica Manchac of Steamboat Springs, CO. He also leaves behind numerous dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on February 12, 2009, at the Bowles Chapel located at Memorial Hermann Hospital, 7600 Beechnut, Houston, TX. Charles C. Tiller

Charles C. Tiller passed away Friday morning, February 6, 2009 at Bellaire Cornerstone Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eva Mae; his sister Marlene Champion; daughter Charlene Olmstead; sons Charles Tiller and Dwight Tiller and their spouses, in addition to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. A native of Bellaire, he served in WWII in the U.S. Army Medical Corp and was a member of American Legion Post 77 in Bellaire. Upon his return from the war, Mr. Tiller worked in the retail grocery business for A&P Supermarkets, UtoteM convenience stores and Circle K convenience stores until his retirement.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Services Chapel, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, TX, 77074. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr., Houston, TX, 77081. A private interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or the local S.P.C.A.

Jeanette Mattison

Iva Jeanette Mattisonborn on February 26, 1914 in Warren County, Illinois, passed away on July 26, 2009 in Bellaire, TX at the age of 95. Jeanette had an incredible life and will be forever cherished as beloved Aunt to those she spoiled. Graveside services were held at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery.

Margaret Eve Baker

Margaret Eve Baker, born on February 26, 1951 in Carrizozo, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at her sister's home in Houston. She will be lovingly missed by her son, her sister, and by all who knew her.

Janice L. Davis

Janice Louise Davis, born on October 10, 1946 in Richlands, Virginia, passed away on July 28, 2009 in The Woodlands, TX at the age of 62. She was very much loved by her daughters, and will be deeply missed by them, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Hyman Klegerman, born in Chicago, Illinois on March 11, 1921, died on July 21, 2009 in Houston at the age of 88. Fondly referred to as "Hy" by his loving wife, Esther, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
