Mary Belinda Edgerton

Ending her epic 23 year battle with breast cancer, Belinda went to be with her Lord on April 2nd, 2009. Throughout reoccurrences of this disease she demonstrated courage, determination and steadfast faith; always quick to request prayer for healing, but especially that her faith would never falter. Indeed thousands of prayers on her behalf ascended to God’s throne and Belinda received her ultimate healing as she stood in the presence of her Savior.
She was born in Monahans, TX to Bill and Juanita Lamothe 58 years ago. Belinda graduated Monahans High School in 1969 and married Paul Edgerton in 1970. Paul and Belinda graduated Oklahoma State University in 1973. That same year the couple moved to Houston, where she began her career as an accountant with Shell Oil Company, whose caring and dedication through the years was truly outstanding.
Belinda loved traveling with Paul and their boys. She adored her two sons and was involved with any activity in which they participated. Belinda was their best cheerleader and life coach.
A devoted student of God’s Word, she attended Beth Moore’s In-Depth Bible Studies, and was a member of DaySpring Bible Study Class of Houston’s First Baptist Church. The ladies of this class were her “girlfriends.” She was an enthusiastic, loyal and generous sister in Christ who found unbridled joy in all their activities. She particularly loved planning a party or any special event with them. When there was a need, Belinda was there. Her effervescence earned her the nickname, “Bubbles.” Though petite in stature, her faith was larger than life, and her grace under fire inspired all who were blessed to call her “friend.”
Belinda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband and loving caregiver throughout her illness, Paul Edgerton; sons, David and Matthew Edgerton and his fiancée Christina Franceschini; brother, Mike Lamothe and wife, Georgia of Monahans, TX and her nieces and nephews.
Services will be scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Houston’s First Baptist Church, with Beth Moore and Rick Jones officiating.
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to her Church family, DaySpring Class, employees of Shell Oil Company, to Paul’s sister, Mary Frey, who gave of herself so lovingly over the years; and to our kind, generous neighbors, as well as our many wonderful friends for their love, time and support throughout Belinda’s struggle with cancer.
Besides Belinda’s family and church, Patti LaCarter Brazil Missions was her passion! In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: Houston First Baptist Church, LaCarter Brazil Missions, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024
