Harry William Colcombe

Harry william colcombe, 80, born on September 8, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA died peacefully on November 5, 2007 in Sugar Land, Texas. He was employed at Union Switch and Signal for over 25 years in Pittsburgh, PA. Harry also lived in Lithonia, Georgia and retired from the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Bruwelheide Colcombe; daughter, Linda Barto-Brown, and her husband Scott H. Brown; grandsons, Christopher M. Barto and William M. Barto all of Sugar Land, Texas; his mother, Ethel Colcombe; sister, Ethel Myers; and brother, Stanley Colcombe all of Naples, Florida. As he wished, his remains will be cremated with interment in the Houston National cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation for Parkinson's Disease Research, PDCMDC, Baylor College of Medicine, 6550 Fannin, Suite 1801, Houston, Texas 77030.

Billy B. Berryhill

BERRYHILL, BILL B. of Bellaire, TX died Wednesday, October 31st after a battle with cancer. Bill was born in Smith County, TX on June 21, 1934 to Earl and Mozelle Berryhill. He graduated from Gladewater High School and then went on to earn a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M in 1956. After working as an engineer for several years, Bill then earned a JD from South Texas College of Law and enjoyed a long career in intellectual property law. Bill met and married Barbara Walker at Central Church of Christ in Houston in 1962. They had 3 children and have made Bellaire their home for 44 years. Bill, an army veteran, was very active in the community serving as a councilman, mayor, and lastly municipal judge. Bill was a member of the Memorial Church of Christ, Whitehall Club, and Bellaire Historical Society. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl, and daughter, Shonda Berryhill-Conlee. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; son-in-law Brian Conlee; son Ben and wife Marianna; daughter Sharla and husband Mark de Frere; mother Mozelle Berryhill; sister Linda and husband Bill Byrd; and grandchildren Sean and Kinzy Conlee, Raymond Ben Berryhill, and Will and Kate de Frere. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: MD Anderson Cancer Center (Melanoma Research), P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486. Visitation will be at 10am with funeral services to follow at 11am on Saturday, November 3rd at ChristChurch Presbyterian, located at 5001 Bellaire Boulevard in Bellaire. Lacy Sellars of ChristChurch Presbyterian and David Duncan of Memorial Church of Christ will officiate.

Paul Francis Woodward, 88, born on October 18, 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 in Houston, Texas. Paul will be missed by his family and friends.

Fred W. Whitbread

FRED WALTER WHITBREAD, JR. Born July 29, 1930 in Houston, Texas died Tuesday October 30th after a short illness. Fred had a diverse career, having worked on the railroad, in the drilling, financial and construction industries during his lifetime. He was a veteran of the U.S. Military, and further served his community through volunteer work with the Lyons Club. He deeply loved Brazoria where he lived, and all his friends in Brazoria. His love for sports, especially Astros baseball, was well known. He is survived by numerous relatives in the Houston area, and was preceded in death by his parents and sister. The family would like to thank all the medical professionals who worked so hard to help Fred in his time of need. A special note of thanks to neighbors and friends who supported him in the Brazoria community. He loved you so much. The family asks for donations to The Darsey Foundation for Children (4509 Beech, Bellaire, TX 77401) or the Lyons Club in your area in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services located at 7723 Beechnut at Hwy59 South. Graveside services to follow at Memorial Oaks cemetery.

Barbara I. Langston

BARBARA STEWART LANGSTON, born January 24, 1930, entered into God's Kingdom on October 30, 2007. Barbara passed peacefully in the beautiful and gracious manner she lived her life, surrounded by her loving children. Barbara was married for 48 years to her childhood sweetheart, George W. Langston, who preceded her to heaven in 1996. Barbara's daughter, Jill Budsiszewski, parents Nettie and Howard Stewart and granddaughter Laurie also preceded her passing. Barbara is survived by her son Sandy Langston, daughters, Robin Beiermeister, Lesa Mohr and Ginger Qualls, their spouses, and her precious grandchildren Cory, Bruce, Bradley, Brandon, Kristopher, Nicholas, Jessica, Ryan, Hayley, Kimberly, Jordan, Julia, Taylor, Dakota, great-grandchildren Ayla, Ashlynn and Jasper, and siblings Joy Doak, Virginia Metzler, and Howard S. Stewart. Barbara's life will be celebrated in a Memorial Service held at Faith United Methodist Church, 4600 FM 359, Richmond, TX on November 3, 2007 at 1:00 P.M

Lucille Rushing

LUCILLE SEYBOLD RUSHING, born April 20, 1931 in Albuquerque, NM, died October 23, 2007 at Hermann Memorial City Hospital in Houston, Texas, of complications following surgery. She is survived by Ronald L. Rushing Sr., her husband of fifty-five years, by son Ronald L. Rushing Jr. and his wife Helen, by daughter Susan E. Rushing and her husband Bill Shenkir, and by grand-children John, Connally, Jackson, Ali Ann, Austin and Shannnon. She was preceded in death by daughters Rebecca Jayne Rushing and Lou Ann Rushing. Lucille was a graduate of Texas Tech University where she majored in Journalism. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, the Junior League of Houston, Kappa Kappa Gamma, the Briar Grove Park Women's Club and wrote a column for each issue of the Briargrove Park Newsletter. She enjoyed a long career as a residential real estate broker and was most recently associated with Prudential Gary Greene Realtors. She cherished all times spent with her children Ron and Susan and all her grandchildren. She was proud of their many accomplishments and of the wonderful people they have become. She enjoyed being with her family, eating out together, shopping with grandchildren and being their advocate in all things. She enjoyed her grandchildren's' accomplishments in music, sports and education. Her constant protector and companion, Fido will miss her dearly. Luci loved being with her friends in the Women's Club, Bridge Club and with the Water Aerobic Ladies. She was loving and caring to her family, and devoted and loyal to her many friends. The memorial service will be at 1PM, on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 15015 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079 (corner of Eldridge and Memorial). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Asperger Syndrome Parent/Professional Information Exchange via www.aspieinfo.com.

Robert Stanley Ibenthal

ROBERT S. IBENTHAL, 69, passed away October 22, 2007 in a Houston nursing facility. He was a Certified Public Accountant with Shebay & Co. Bob graduated from Longview High School and attended Texas A&M. After transferring to Stephen F. Austin University, he obtained his B.A. in accounting in 1961. He was recruited by Price Waterhouse & Co. in Houston where he worked a couple of years before going to work for the Shebay accounting firm. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Stanley Ibenthal of Longview, Texas. He is survived by his sons, David Ibenthal and Wife Belinda of Sugar Land and Michael Ibenthal of South Padre; his grandson Jeffrey Kristensen of Pasadena, Texas, and his many friends and extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 25, in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services.

Charles Bert Schreiber

CHARLES BERT SCHREIBER, Lt. USN Ret., age 83, of Bellaire, TX, died October 19, 2007 after a brief illness. During his illness he commented that if it were his time to go, he was at peace. He had been blessed with a happy marriage, loving children and grandchildren, and had lived a full life without regret. A confirmed bachelor at age thirty, Bert was swept off his feet by Billie Ann Grant of Chattanooga, and they became engaged on their third date. After 52 years of marriage he was still smitten. Bert cherished his family life and loved his role as grandfather. He is survived by his wife Billie Ann, son Paul Schreiber and wife Tammy, daughter Janie and husband Stuart Mitcham, daughter Jo and husband Rob Gill, grandchildren Carly and Scott Schreiber, Sara and Abby Mitcham, Jessica and Logan Gill, and Taylor Dunlap, his extended family Steve and Halley Erickson and their children, his brother Carl Jr., sister-in-law Mary Katherine Schreiber and nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Myron. Born in Port Neches, TX, September 3, 1924 to Carl and Nellie Schreiber, Bert moved to Beaumont, TX, on his second birthday, and graduated in 1941 from Beaumont High School. In 1942, during his first year at Lamar Junior College, he volunteered for service, and was among the first group inducted into the Navy V-1 program. He was sent to Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette as an enlisted man, and then to Columbia University Midshipman's School, graduating as an Ensign in the USNR in June 1944. He served in WWII on the LST 241 in the Pacific theater, earning numerous medals including a Purple Heart for wounds received during the battle of Okinawa. After the war, Bert returned to LSI, graduating with a BS degree in physics in 1949. He attended the University of Texas as a postgraduate for one semester before volunteering to serve again during the Korean War aboard the LSM 359 for one year and at the Comnavmarinas area Headquarters at Guam for two years, on staff as the Atomic, Biological, Chemical Warfare Defense Officer. He maintained his Naval Reserve status and retired as a Lieutenant-USN. In 2005 he was honored in Guam for his contributions towards the effort to include Guam and its citizens under the U.S. Radiation Exposure Compensation Law. Upon discharge from active service, he returned to Beaumont and worked in his family's business, Santa Fe Salvage Co. After moving to Houston he founded and served as the President and CEO for Santa Fe Supply, jointly owned with his brothers, and later owned and operated Sun Belt Art Supply. He was a Second Class Scout and for ten years was the Scoutmaster for Troop 900 in Spring, TX. After his retirement, he pursued his scientific interests, publishing numerous papers and letters in various scientific journals. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3 in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services, 7723 Beechnut, Houston. Immediately after the service, the family invites Bert's friends to gather at his daughter's home for a dinner and celebration of his life.

Kathryn H. Robinson, 91, born on January 4, 1916 in Vermillion, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Houston, Texas. Kathryn will be missed by her family and friends.

Kirchheiner, and wife, Tria; and three grandchildren, Ava Guralnick, William Dane Kirchheiner, and Kai David Kirchheiner. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, October 22nd 2007 in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services, 7723 Beechnut St. Interment will be at Houston National cemetery.
