Retha Mae Fudge

RETHA MAE BASS FUDGE was known for her contagious laughter, a gift for gab and for showing up at parties in her leopard outfit wanting to know where the good champagne was! Our vivacious Retha with the bright, red hair died at 81 in her home on August 27, 2007 and her zest for life is our legacy as well as her devotion to others in need and desire to bring smiles to the faces of everyone she encountered. She could often be found giving advice or chips and salsa to customers at her daughter Dawn's venerable Last Concert Cafe. She was a Certified Clown named, Fudge Cake and for 20 years, Retha was also a psychiatric nurse at Southwest Memorial Hospital ministering to the often-misunderstood with tenderness, professional care and compassion. She grew up on a strawberry farm in Ward, Arkansas and it was those strawberry boxes shipped with Retha's address that led her to meet her husband, Jim Fudge, all the way in Kansas . Although they parted after 23 years, they had two wonderful children together and as is Retha's way; many happy times. Retha adored travel and that little girl from a strawberry farm made it to all fifty states before she passed away. Retha is survived by her daughter Dawn Natalie Fudge and her partner David O'Dea, son Robert Fudge and his wife Lynn, grand-daughter Natalie Danielle Fudge Garcia and great grandchildren Manuel and Serena Garcia. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Ralva Bass and wife Victorean, Luola Mathers and husband Harvey, Wilburn Bass and wife Patricia, and Pastor Vernon Bass and wife Linda as well as first cousins Virgina Haguewood, Merle McNew, and Christine Hill and many other loving family and friends and, yes, countless Fudge Cake fans. Retha was a member of Westbury Baptist Church on Hillcroft for over twenty five years and a memorial service will be held there at two o clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the first of September. The service will be presided over by Pastor Randy Mitchell and Retha's brother, Pastor Vernon Bass, with a reception immediately afterward. Donations to the church in Retha's memory or flowers may be sent to Westbury Baptist Church, 10425 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77096-4798. Remember the song, "When you are smiling, when you are smiling; the whole world smiles with you." That was Retha.

Mark Andrew Trautmann

MARK ANDREW TRAUTMANN, 18, born into a loving Christian family on May 4, 1989 went home to be with the Lord August 11th, 2007. His passing was caused by a tragic automobile accident, but as one friend noted, he made it to the best party first. Mark, the beloved son of Keith and Pam Trautmann, is survived by his parents, his two brothers Matthew and Ryan, and his sister Abigail. Other survivors include grandparents Henry and Nell Trautmann and grandmother Cynthia Sipos. We were blessed to see Mark grow into a charismatic, loving, handsome young adult with a heart for the Lord. From an early age, he showed an interest in people and making friends everywhere. Mark had a contagious enthusiasm and zest for life. For many years, he was a member of the Ft. Bend 4H Sharpshooters team and played football for Dulles Middle and High Schools; he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and served as the FFA President for his chapter. Mark also was actively involved in his church youth group and went on many mission trips where he shared the gospel with those he met. Mark spent the last year and a half of his life at the Methodist Home Boys Ranch in Waco, Texas, where he was able to achieve his dream of experiencing ranch life. Mark adored his family and especially enjoyed their vacation times. Recently they traveled to Colorado, where he hiked in the mountains and slid down a snow bank in his shorts, laughing and squealing all the way. Funny and outgoing, Mark is also loved by many friends made while attending Highlands Elementary, Dulles Middle & High Schools. In May, he graduated from Methodist Home Boys Ranch. He truly loved the outdoors and was a good ole Texas boy at heart; he adored his big Texas truck, which he named Caroline. He was planning to attend Blinn College in Bryan this fall. Always an Aggie fan, he planned to transfer to Texas A&M and earn a degree related to ranching because he planned to own a ranch one day. Mark was an extraordinary young man and will be missed by many. We will celebrate his life with love and joy on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at The Vineyard Church, 5015 Grove West Blvd., Stafford, Texas 77477. In lieu of flowers, the Trautmann family requests that donations be made to the Mark Trautmann Fund at Methodist Home Boys Ranch. Please mail donations to: Development Office, Methodist Children's Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, Texas 76708 or call (800) 853-1272.
