Patricia Ruth McIntyre

PATRICIA RUTH MCINTYRE passed away at home on June 4, 2007. She was born October 8, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Leonard and Ruth Payne. Shortly after high school, she married William Richard McIntyre, and their love and marriage of 46 years was the greatest story of both their lives. Pat was a full-time homemaker and mother to four daughters. At various times, she worked as a real estate broker, bookkeeper, and coordinator for the Welcome Wagon. Her lifelong hobbies were literature and drama. She wrote and produced several seasons of the Women's Gridiron of Oklahoma City, chaired the Toastmasters club and read, wrote and studied poetry and short stories throughout her life. Her volunteer work included recording audio books for the blind and working as a docent for the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. Having grown up in her father's wood shop, Pat never lost her love of fine wood crafts. She was very active in the Methodist Church for most of her life. Pat is survived by her brother, Robert Payne of Florence, Oregon and her four daughters and their spouses: Dr. Kathryn McIntyre and Dr. Jay van Bavel, Patricia and Charles Masters, Amy McIntyre and Teresa Herrin, and Laura McIntyre. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Patrick Masters and his wife Amanda, Elizabeth McIntyre Grant, Peter and Alexander van Bavel, and Stephany Masters. She also is survived by many in-laws, cousins and nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. We will all miss Pat's humor, beauty, willingness to listen, and her love. A memorial service will be held on July 8, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at the Smith Chapel of Riverbend Church in Austin, Texas. After the service, her ashes will be scattered in Remembrance Gardens, along with those of her husband, who preceded her in death in 2001.
