Kay Grafe Watkins
(December 10, 1937 - August 27, 2011)
Funeral services for Mrs. Kay Grafe Watkins, age 73, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, 1131 SH 149, Carthage, TX, with Rev. David Kemmerling officiating. A private burial will follow at Oddfellows cemetery in Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Watkins passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday night, Aug. 27, 2011, in Carthage.
Eleanor Kay Grafe Watkins was born on Dec. 10, 1937, in Fort Worth, TX to Augustus Bernard “Bud” and Leah Mae Beene Grafe. Mrs. Watkins graduated from Ft. Worth Polytechnic High School with the class of 1956, and attended UT Arlington. She lived most of her life in Ft. Worth where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lee Watkins, in 1957. Together they enjoyed life in Austin, Ft. Worth, Chicago, and Denver. She worked for the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw School District as the Registrar at the High School until her retirement. Kay pursued many activities, including sewing, painting, and egg cup collecting. She enjoyed life to the fullest with her family and many friends, grandchildren, and particularly her church. After moving to Carthage from Ft. Worth in 2005, to be closer to family, she resided at Briarcliff Health Care Center.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Richard L. Watkins of Carthage; son, Richard Douglas Watkins of Ft. Worth; daughter, Darcy Kay Lerner and husband David of Harleysville, PA; sister, Joan Qualls of Rockwall; and two grandchildren, Haley Kay and Gina Roslynn Lerner. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Watkins.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Hospice of East Texas in Tyler and Briarcliff Health Care Center in Carthage for their wonderful and caring services. The family would also like to thank the members of Kay’s Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of Saginaw who were so kind and visited her often at her home in Ft. Worth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kay’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Saginaw, 300 N. Old Decatur Rd., Saginaw, TX 76179.

Alice Clark Johnson
Funeral services for Alice Clark Johnson, 95 of Center, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008 in the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Timpson with Reverend Gordon Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Mrs. Johnson passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Barbara Lovett McCartney Rainbolt
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Barbara Lovett McCartney Rainbolt, age 72, of Shreveport, LA, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel in Shreveport with Rev. Mark Eakin and Rev. Roy W. Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park West cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the funeral home. Mrs. Rainbolt entered the Pearly Gates and went to be with her Lord and Savior and sing with the Heavenly Angels on Monday, August 29, 2011, at her home in Elm Grove, LA after a brief illness. She was two days shy of her 73rd birthday.
Barbara is reunited in death with her father, Cecil Lovett, husband and father of her children, Johnny McCartney, and her best friend, Ida Stephenson.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her mother, Lola Lovett of Carthage; husband, Gene Rainbolt; daughter, Cathy McCartney Upshaw and husband, Chuck, their children , Charlene, Jackie, and Chad; son, David McCartney and wife, Mindy, their children, Paige Sibert and John Egan McCartney; sisters, Dorothea Nisbett and husband, Jim, Frances Moore and husband, Sammy of Carthage, Margaret Sanchez and husband, Diego; six great grandchildren; Gene's three children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; the children she thought of as her own, The One Way Singers, and her church family at North Shreve Baptist Church; her lifetime friends, Horace and Mary Mann, and neighbors, Earnest and Judy Norris. She was also a clerk for North Shreve Baptist Church for many years.
Honoring Barbara, as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeremy Berg, Jack Brown, Chad Upshaw, and Egan McCartney, along with Woody Woodard and Dayton Corbett.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or the charity of the donor's choice.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6.

Mary Ruth Moore
Funeral services for Mary Ruth Moore, 68 of Bethany, LA, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Reed officiating. Burial followed at Woods cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Moore died October 21, 2008 in Shreveport, LA.
Mrs. Mary Ruth Hooker Moore was born June 10, 1940 in Tenaha. She was one of three children born to the marriage of William Maxwell and Robbie Ruth Butler Hooker. Mary started schools in Tenaha, later graduating from Carthage High School with the class of 1958. Mrs. Moore spent her career as a legal secretary working for many lawyers, the F.D.L.I.C. and the state of Louisiana, retiring in 1998. She married George Edwin Moore in November of 1980, and they celebrated 28 years together. Mary was a devoted racecar fan as a dirt racing sponsor and loved fishing. She is preceded in death by a sister, Billie Jean Nutt.
Survivors include loving husband George E. Moore, of Bethany, LA; daughter Linda Etheridge, of Lufkin; brother James E. Hooker and wife Nancy, of Mauriceville, TX; grandchild Shelly Etheridge, of Lufkin; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Yasmine Rene Mahoney
Graveside services for baby girl Yasmine Rene Mahoney were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Bethlehem Deadwood cemetery under the direction of Black’s Carthage Funeral Home. Yasmine was born November 20th in J.P.S. Health Networth Hospital in Fort Worth.

Frances Aline McDonald Barnett
Funeral services for Frances Aline McDonald Barnett, 89 of DeBerry, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Reverend David Urban officiating. Interment followed at Panola Mt. Zion cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Barnett died Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Carthage.
Mrs. Frances Aline McDonald Barnett was born February 23, 1919 in Antioch, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana to Clayton and Fannie Maude Nicholas McDonald. One of eight children, she graduated in 1935 from Lisbon High School in Lisbon, LA. Mrs. Barnett joined the Army Air Force in 1943 during World War II, attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was honorably discharged in 1945. She later married Louis G. Barnett on February 25, 1946 and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage until his death on April 29, 1997. Mrs. Barnett worked several years for Elysian Fields School District in the cafeteria and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church since 1951. Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Auben McDonald, Bill McDonald and Nank McDonald, sister, Ruby Haynes and a granddaughter, Ashley.
Survivors include son Glen Louis Barnett, of Henderson; daughters Linda Day and husband Al, of Lake Jackson and Mary Williams and husband John Ben, of Carthage; brother Felton McDonald and wife Bettye, of Homer, LA; sisters Doris Shelton, of Patagonia, AZ and Nell Hughes, of Ferriday, LA; special friend Abbie McJimsey; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Floyd Jeffress, Vance Walker, George Hill, Cliff Yount, John Hugh Jernigan, Joe Lynn Lawless, James David Lawless and Joe Reeves. Honorary pallbearers were Doc Clifford, Buddy Gibbs and Gloria Creel.
Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.

Christine Turner
Funeral services for Christine Turner, 91 of Arlington, formerly of Carthage, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Dodson officiating. Interment followed at Restland Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Turner died December 4, 2008.
Mrs. Mabel Christine Johnson Turner was born November 26, 1917 in Gilmer, Upshur County. She was one of five daughters born to the marriage of John Smith “J.S.” and Marguerite Petty Johnson. She graduated from Union Hill High School. Christine married Clarence Edward Turner August 21, 1937 and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage before his death in 1992. Mrs. Turner was a loving Christian woman and homemaker who never met a stranger. She was a devoted member of the O.E.S. Carthage Chapter #747 since 1963 and served two years as Worthy Matron and a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. She is also preceded in death by her son Charles Turner and daughter Martha H. Smith, and her four sisters: Mattie Lou Lackey, Gertrude Neal, Leta Faye Jones and Carma Jean McCaghren.
Survivors include loving son Gerald Turner and wife Laurie, of Arlington; daughter-in-law Margo Turner, of Texarkana; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Charles Smith, Eric Turner, Jimmy Turner, John Arbour, Gordon McDonald, Bill O’Neal and John William Cook. Honorary pallbearers were Max Bauer and Jim Young.
Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.

Rosalie M. Horn
Funeral services for Rosalie M. Horn, 88 of Carthage, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church with Father Michael Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Heights cemetery in Mt. Enterprise under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Horn died Thursday, December 4, 2008 in Carthage.
Mrs. Rosalie Marie Horn was born November 6, 1920 in Dickinson, Texas to the marriage of Joseph and Elizabeth Boden Dibello. Rosalie married Charles James Horn in June of 1955 and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage before his death in 2006. Rosalie and Charles moved to Mt. Enterprise in 1961 where together they owned C. Horn Repair. She loved to cook and was a member of the Ladies Guild at the St. William Vercelli church, also serving as a member of the Thimble Club of Mt. Enterprise. Mrs. Horn was a devoted member of St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Elizabeth Leago, brother, Sam Dibello, and nephew, Joseph Dibello.
Survivors include son Robert Horn, of Western Grove, Arkansas; daughter Roberta Wolcott and husband John, of Arlington, Washington; nieces JoAnn McDonald, of Brazoria, and Jeanette Dibello; nephews Tommy Joe Leago, of Brazoria, and Anthony Sam Leago, of Brazoria; grandchildren Leldon Hamilton and wife Tammy, Cathy Peake and husband David, Charles Horn, James Wolcott and wife Kari, and Teresa Kearney and husband Patrick; ten great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Leldon Hamilton, David Peake, Robert Horn, John Wolcott, and Robert Peloquin.
Visitation will be held from 6 unlit 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be sited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
In lieu of lowers donations can be made to St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church, 4088 NW Loop 436 Carthage, Texas 75633.

L. V. Jones
Funeral services for L.V. Jones, 86 of Carthage, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Lynch, Reverend Joe Freeman and Reverend Curtis Magness officiating. Interment followed at Conner cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones died December 25, 2008 in Carthage.
Mrs. L. V. Fogust Jones was born April 1, 1922 in Beckville. She was the baby of seven children born to the marriage of Thomas Jack and Margaret Allred Davis. She married Rufus Solomon Jones on September 25, 1937 and together they celebrated over 60 years of marriage before his death in 1998. Mrs. Jones loved her Lord and family above all else as a loving mother and grandmother and Pentecostal Minister. She was preceded in death by all six of her siblings.
Survivors include daughter Pauline Lee of Kilgore; grandchildren Robert Willis Jr. and wife Deanna of Turnertown, Rodney Willis of Sweetwater, Matthew Willis of New London, and Christopher Willis of Kilgore; great-grandchildren Nathan Willis and Lillian Willis of Turnertown; niece Patsy George of Beckville; nephew Jack Harris of Beckville; numerous other relatives and a host of friends
Pallbearers were Robert Willis Jr., Rodney Willis, Matthew Willis, Christopher Willis, Dylan Magness, Timothy Owens, Brandon Owens and Ricky George
Visitation was held from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
