Braxton L. Cash
Funeral services for Mr. Braxton L. Cash, 67 of the Fairplay Community of Panola County, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Baze officiating. Interment will follow in Waldrop cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Cash passed away on Thursday night, January 8, 2009 in Carthage.
Braxton LeRoy Cash was born on August 5, 1941 in Joplin, Missouri to Samuel Elza and Nellie Mae Dawson Cash. Mr. Cash attended the Joplin Heights schools. He served his country in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division and as an M.P. He married Lucy Shelton on January 18, 1962 in Erin, Tennessee. Mr. Cash worked as an electrician for TXU for 27 years, retiring in May of 2007. He was a member of the IBEW Union Local # 2337. He loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Cash lived in Panola County for the past 20 years, moving from Marshall. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lenval A. Cash; and one sister, Velma Horner.
Mr. Cash is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lucy Cash of Fairplay; two sons, Rex Cash and wife Paula and Lenval Cash and wife Joann all of Fairplay; one daughter, Michelle Buchanan and husband Chuck of Fairplay; and one brother, Nelson Cash and wife Jan of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren, Sharlyt Smith and husband Chris, Brigitte Buchanan and husband Jay, Beth Poore and husband Randy, Chuckie Buchanan, Christopher Cash, Jennifer Goins, Montana Cash, and Samuel Cash; and eight great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Cash.
Serving as pallbearers are Rex Cash, Lenval Cash, Chuckie Buchanan, Charles Buchanan, John Favron, and Steve Marling. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Christopher Cash.

Vera Ellen Gulley
Funeral services for Vera Ellen Gulley, 87 of Coushatta, Louisiana, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Rose-Neath’s Coushatta Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Bethany cemetery in Coushatta, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Mrs. Gulley died Monday, January 5, 2009 in Shreveport.

Leta Mae Beasley
Funeral services for Leta Mae Beasley, 83 of Gary, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Duane Turner and Reverend Jeremy Young officiating. Interment will follow at Gary cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Beasley died January 8, 2009 in Carthage.
Mrs. Leta Mae Smith Beasley was born December 24, 1925 in Gary. She was the baby of 10 children born to the marriage of Johnnie James and Mary Ollie Horton Smith. Leta spent her life in Gary, graduating schools there. She later married Felton Ellis Beasley who preceded her in death in 1997. Mrs. Beasley was a loving homemaker and lifelong member of the Gary First Baptist Church. She loved quilting, canning and antiques. She is also preceded in death by her brothers; Claybern, Elbert “Tiny”, Ira “Bob” Smith, infant son, and daughters; Annie Bertha McDonald, Jennie Alpha Ford and Jenetta Izora Smith.
Survivors include son Felton Lawrence Beasley and wife Brenda, of Brenham; daughter Freida Nell Miller and husband Fred, of Henderson; brothers James Ralph “Billy” Smith, of Jefferson, and Alvie Smith, of Del Ray Community; grandchildren Jeff Martin, of Gary, Tasha Smith and husband Jason, of Henderson, Will Martin and wife Robbyn, of Henderson, and Tammy Baty and husband Darrell, of Mesquite; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Martin, Jason Smith, Will Martin, Darrell Baty, Daniel Smith and Robert Burns.
Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church of Gary or Gary cemetery Association.

Ervina Lilly Nickerson
Funeral services for Ervina Lilly Nickerson, 94 of Carthage, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Carthage with Reverend J. T. Harris officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walker cemetery. Mrs. Nickerson passed away on Sunday morning, January 11, 2009, in Carthage.
Ervina Pipkin Lilly Nickerson was born on November 8, 1914 in Panola County, to Wallace and Hagar Trial Pipkin. Mrs. Nickerson lived her lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Curtis Lilly and Israel Nickerson; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Nickerson is survived by five sisters, Addye Motley of Houston, Myrtle Greene of Maywood, Illinois, Mildred Smith of Las Vegas, Thelma Pipkin of Oakland, California, and Lorraine Lloyd of San Francisco. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Nickerson.
Serving as pallbearers are Taft Allison, Clinton Cato, Juandrell Rocquemore, Kendrell Rocquemore, Kenneth Smith, and Willie Smith.

Charles French
(November 18, 1938 - August 31, 2011)
Funeral services for Rev. Charles French, age 72, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Calvin Hancock and Dr. Ray Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Rev. French passed away on Wednesday evening, Aug. 31, 2011, at his home in Carthage.
Charles Robert French was born on Nov. 18, 1938, in Sherman, TX to Cass Stinson French, Sr. and Lola V. Harrison French. He graduated from Bells High School with the class of 1956. Rev. French married Brenda Sue Meek on Nov. 10, 1956, in Bonham, TX. In Dec. of 1961, Rev. French surrendered to the ministry and was officially ordained on July 6, 1962. The five churches he served were Pecan Grove Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas City Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City, and Carthage Missionary Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church which was organized over 25 years ago in Carthage. He furthered his education by earning a Master of English Bible in 1971 and a Doctorate of Theology in 1996, from the Texas Baptist Institute. Rev. French was a master mason and was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 and the Texas City Lodge #1118. He was also a member San Felipe de Austin Commandery #1 Knights Templar in Galveston. Rev. French was involved with the Pine Springs Youth Encampment and served as the camp registrar and adult teacher for 23 years and he composed the Baptist Training Course Adult Quarterly for five years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and devoted pastor. Rev. French was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Davy Herm; and three brothers, George, Harrison, and Cass French, Jr.
Rev. French is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda French of Carthage; two daughters, Terri French of League City and Beth Hall of Carthage; one son, Joey French and wife Elizabeth of Carthage; three grandchildren, Amy Trittel and husband Phillip of League City, Jeremy Hall of Carthage, and Kelsey French of Tyler; one great-granddaughter, Natali Trittel; a special sister-in-law, Bobbie French; and the Trinity Baptist Church Family. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Rev. French.
Serving as pallbearers are Chilton Stuart, Mark Cox, Dan Lovil, Dr. George Taylor, Hal Simpson, and D.R. Akin.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Cecil Bettevy, Bill Rosenblum, and Charlie Lawhorn.

Bertrand Linell Ethridge
(January 12, 1939 - September 15, 2011)
Bertrand Lindell Ethridge, 72, of Mexia passed away September 15, 2011 in Carthage, Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 20, 20ll at Blue Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Houser and Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Interment will follow in the McClanahan cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 PM, Monday at the funeral home. Local arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Bertrand was born January 12, 1939 to Thomas Edgar and Julia Ann McIntyre Ethridge in Marlin, Texas. He was a self-employed paint contractor. Bertrand had lived in Mexia for ten years. He was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Joni Lynn and Connie Beth Ethridge; and siblings, Ray, Delton, A.C., Andrew and Reed Allen Ethridge, Fay Kemp and Helen Truster.
Bertrand is survived by two brothers, Gene Ethridge and wife, Melba of Bonham, TX. and Vernon Ethridge and wife, Toni of San Angelo, TX.; three sisters, Jo Hood and husband, Scott of Longview, TX, Shirley Williamson of Henderson, TX. and Peggy Griffin and husband, Dock of Carthage; a number of nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Ethridge, Doyle Ethridge, Harvey Ethridge, Tip Stillwell, Jerry Holler, Jim Griffin, David Allen, Max Stillwell, Luke Ethridge and Les Jameson.

Catherine Dent Hughes Keeling
(November 14, 1918 - September 21, 2011)
Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Keeling, age 92, of the Long Branch Community in Panola County, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with Rev. Keefe Cropper officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Boynton cemetery in Long Branch. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Keeling passed away on Wednesday morning, Sept. 21, 2011, in Houston, TX.
Catherine Dent Hughes Keeling was born on Nov. 14, 1918, in Panola County, TX to John Allen and Dorothy “Dolly” Meyers Hughes. Mrs. Keeling attended the Long Branch School and later the New London School where she graduated with the class of 1936. She graduated from University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Mrs. Keeling married John Binford Keeling on Dec. 27, 1939, in New London, TX and he preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2001. She began her career as an educator with Houston I.S.D. and later with Beckville I.S.D. where she worked until her retirement. Mrs. Keeling was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage where she was a member of the Gleaners/Upper Room Sunday School Class. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Beth Keeling who passed away in 1952; four brothers, Allen, Gus, Charles, and John Hughes; and one sister, Bess Osburn.
Mrs. Keeling is survived by two daughters, Norma Scarborough and husband Tommy of Jersey Village, TX and Kay Keeling of St. Petersburg, FL; two grandsons, Justin Scarborough of Denver, CO and Michael Scarborough of Bryan, TX; a sister, Imogene Shamblin of Desoto, TX; and a brother-in-law, Randolph Keeling of Tyler, TX.
Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Scarborough, Michael Scarborough, Brian McLeroy, Jimmy Anderson, and Bob Averitte.

Andrew Elliot Kruithof
A celebration of life for Andrew Elliot Kruithof, 31, will be held at a later date. Mr. Kruithof died at in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a long battle with cancer.

Mamie "Maw" Foley
Services for Mamie “Maw” Foley were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Carey Ponder officiating. Burial followed at Willow Grove cemetery in Joaquin. Visitation was held on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Mangum Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Mamie "Maw" Elizabeth (Coyle) Foley passed from this life at the age of 91, Saturday January 10, 2009 to meet her Heavenly Father.
She was born October 27, 1917 in Shelby County, to parents, Daniel and Enda (Blount) Coyle. She was married August 22, 1936 to Alton Foley, and they were long time residents of the Midyett Springs Community in Panola County. Mr. Foley passed away in 1982. She was a homemaker, seamstress, quilter, gardener, and enjoyed cooking and canning. "Maw", as she was known to everyone, always had time to play games with the children who came to see her, and she always had a dessert to serve. Even in her last months in the nursing home, her sassy personality was evident. She was a member of Midyett Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She had many loving caregivers in the recent years, especially Erika, Merlene, Vickie, Demedric, and the staff at Autumn Leaves Nursing Facility and the Odyssey Hospice of Tyler staff.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Enda Coyle and husband, Alton Foley, son Danny Foley, three brothers, Tom McGee, Van Coyle and Roland Coyle, five sisters, Minnie Thrasher, Leona Hughes, Beatrice Long, Viola Sholar and Willie Crawford.
She is survived by sister Flora Rudd, of Joaquin; daughter Cathy Gossett, of Henderson; daughter-in-law Wynette Foley, of Carthage; sister-in-law Ginger Coyle, of Beaumont; grandchildren Roger Greer, Jr. and wife Amy, Jay Greer and wife Rebecca, Kip Foley and wife Stephanie, Kie Foley and wife Marian, Teresa Cannon and husband Matt, Tammy Payne and husband Kyle, and Sarah Mays and Dwight; 14 great-grandchildren; many much-loved nieces and nephews; next door neighbor and “Giddy-up go” buddy Oleta McMillan; and a host of friends.

Pauline Gray
Graveside services for Pauline Gray, 91 of Carthage, were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Oddfellows cemetery with Reverend Jack McMahon officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family received friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Gray passed away on Sunday morning, January 11, 2009 in Carthage.
Pauline Twomey Gray was born on December 13, 1917 in Carthage to Robert H. and Alice M. Cherry Twomey. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1936. Mrs. Gray owned and operated Pauline’s Beauty Shop for over 50 years. She was a member of the Rehobeth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank W. Gray who passed away on November 1, 1982.
Mrs. Gray is survived by two sons, Professor W. Robert Gray and wife Mary of Fort Worth and Gregory Franklin Gray of Lufkin; a niece, Carolyn Lewis and husband Bill of Shreveport; and special caregivers, Diane Cole and Ruby Williams.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Heart’s Way Hospice and the staff of Panola Care and Rehab Center.
