Irene Adams Brevard
Funeral services for Irene Adams Brevard, 98 of Beckville, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church in Beckville with Reverend Bruce Will officiating. Interment will follow at Langley cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Brevard died January 12, 2009 in Carthage.
Mrs. Irene Adams Brevard, a Beckville native, was born June 4, 1910. She was one of seven children born to the marriage of Dee and Virginia Jane Wilson Adams. Irene attended rural Brooks Community Schools and later married Joseph Lanham Brevard December 31, 1927, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death in November of 1978. She worked as a cafeteria worker for the Beckville ISD for 36 years. Mrs. Brevard was the last remaining Charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Beckville. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Dee Albert, LeRoy and Elmer Adams; sisters Ava Ruth Brevard, May Ellen Ross, and Susie Curry; and a son Kenneth Lavelle Brevard.
She is survived by son Joseph Brevard and wife Leola, of Houston; daughter Jeannette Bailey, of the Buncomb Community; grandchildren Debra McMillan and husband William, of Buncomb, Diane Jones and husband James, of Vernal, Utah, LeAnn Martin and husband George, of Frisco, and Allan Brevard and wife Stacy, of Cypress; great-grandchildren Joshua Jones, Jason Jones, Michael Brevard, Olivia Martin and Sophia Martin; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Wyatt, Bobby Brevard, Alan Brevard, David Justiss, John Jones and Elvie Adams.
Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Langley cemetery Association.

Jim Hunt
Funeral services for Jim Hunt, 85 of Beckville, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Langley cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Hunt died January 13, 2009 in Carthage.
Mr. James Roy “Jim” Hunt was born January 28, 1923 in Panola County, to the marriage of Thouston and Ozella Farmer Hunt. The only son of four children, Jim was raised and graduated from DelRay community schools. Mr. Hunt served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Island Campaign aboard the LSM 240, LSM 244 and remained active in the Landing Ship Medium Association. Later, he met and married Mrs. Frances Marie Aaron in 1972 celebrating almost 36 years together. As a Navy Veteran Mr. Hunt was an active Past Post Commander and life time member of the American Legion as well as the VFW. Mr. Hunt was honored in 1996 for founding the Panola County Association for Retarded Citizens and his management of the John Logan Outlet and tireless efforts on behalf of the members of the Sheltered Workshop. Jim worked as a service station owner, later retiring as a car salesman for Panola Motor Company. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Rosa Johnston and Bell Bailey.
Survivors include loving wife Marie Hunt, of Beckville; sister Jean Frey and husband Marty, of Mesquite; special nephew Wayne Bailey, of Carthage; stepsons Kenneth Pierce and wife Brenda, of Beckville, and Jimmy Pierce and wife Sandra, of Deadwood; grandchildren Justin Pierce and wife Amanda, of Beckville, Kelly Pierce, of Carthage, Lisa Cross and husband Jeff, of Hallsville, Tiffany Harris, of Gary, and Wesley Pierce and wife Karen, of Hallsville; special great-grandchildren and the joy of his life Dalton Pierce, Dustin Carr, Dana Carr, Chelcie Pierce, Ava Pierce; numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Dick Cranford, Gene Barefield, Jack Wilson, J.W. Scarborough, Barry McMillan, Wayne Bailey, James Boykin, Ray Waldrop, Bob Thomas and Jerry Matlock
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to The American Legion Scholarship Fund.

Charles Edward Alford
Funeral services celebrating the life of Charles Edward Alford, 76, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel with Masonic Rites following the service. Officiating will be Dr. Billy McCormack. Interment will follow in Forest Park West cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 p.m. until 5p.m. Sunday January 25, 2009 at the funeral home.
Charlie was born on August 12, 1932 in Timpson, to Ollie Bernice and Buell Alford. Charlie was raised in Tenaha, and graduated from Tenaha High School in 1951. He passed away on January 22, 2009 in Keithville, La where he was a resident. Charles spent many years in route sales with the Holsum Bakery Co. and Shreveport Towel and Uniform Service, later retiring in the mid 80’s from the National Linen Service. He was a Baptist by faith and belonged to the Sunset Masonic Lodge #438.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty R. May Alford and son Ronnie Lynn Alford, Sr. and his parents. He is survived by his son, Jerry Wayne Alford and wife, Patty of Keithville, LA; sisters, Dena F. Holmes and JoAnn Herndon both of Carthage, TX; grandchildren Patrick John Alford and Ronnie Lynn Alford, Jr.; four great grandsons; nephews, Scott L. Holmes, Joe L. Herndon, and niece, Carol Ann Cockerham and husband Cody.
A special thanks to his hospice nurse Judy Hunter and a very special thanks to Dennis Harter.

James B. Chambers, Sr.
Graveside services for James B. Chambers, Sr., 79 of Beckville, were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Langley cemetery near Beckville with Reverend Gary Chambers officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Chambers passed away on Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2009 in Carthage.
James B. Chambers Sr. was born on January 30, 1929 in LaPorte, Texas to James E. and Alma A. Browning Chambers. Mr. Chambers was educated in the LaPorte Schools. He married Peggy Jeane Trice on February 7, 1948 in Baytown, Texas. Mr. Chambers served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He moved to Beckville in 1972 from LaPorte. Mr. Chambers worked at Louisiana Pacific in Carthage for many years as a supervisor. He loved to build, remodel, and carpentry and after working for Louisiana Pacific, he started Chambers and Sons Remodeling in Beckville. Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James B. Chambers, Jr. who passed away in 2002.
Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Chambers of Beckville; two sons, Buck K. Chambers and wife Kitty and Gary L. Chambers and wife Tammy all of Beckville; one daughter, Glenda J. Reeder of Carthage; one brother, Buck H. Chambers and wife Ann of Beckville; one sister, Mary June Powell and husband Bubba of LaPorte; twelve grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary K. Franks and husband Earnest of Carthage. Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Chambers.
Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Reeder, Randy Reeder, Justin Chambers, Derek Nail, Sammy Vandergriff, and Stephen Jaronitzky.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Langley cemetery Association.

Harlan Dale McNair
Harlan Dale McNair passed away January 17, 2009 in Deming, NM, where he resided after his retirement. Mr. McNair was born September 13, 1943, in San Francisco, CA, to Harlan and Sylvia Hartline McNair. He is survived by his wife, Linda McNair; a son, Greggory and wife Bridget; daughter, Wendy Rosen; two grandchildren, Caitlan Rosen and Garret McNair. Also surviving him are his mother, Sylvia Cole and husband Charles Cole; one brother Stephen McNair and wife Judith.
We love you and miss you. You will always have a place in our hearts because that’s where we keep our valuables.

Madeliene "Madge" Nichols
(October 1, 1924 - August 16, 2011)
Funeral services for Mrs. Madeliene “Madge” Nichols, age 86, of Gary, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Eastside Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Walker and Dr. P.A. DuBose officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Gary cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Nichols passed away on Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, 2011, in Carthage.
Myrtie Madeliene “Madge” Smith Nichols was born on Oct. 1, 1924, in Gary, TX to Henry Jack and Alice Jewel Ritter Smith. She graduated from Gary High School with the class of 1941. Mrs. Nichols served her country in W.A.V.E.S. during WWII and was stationed at Kingsville Naval Air Station where she met and married Gunnery Sgt. William F. “Nick” Nichols on June 1, 1945. Together they shared 57 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2002. The family resided in Nederland 1954-1979, where she was a member of the O.E.S. Chapter 1079, serving as Worthy Matron from 1976-1977. Upon Nick’s retirement, they returned to Gary, where she once again became a member of the Eastside Baptist Church community. Mrs. Nichols was also a member of the O.E.S. Chapter #747 in Carthage. She was active in her community having served as the secretary/treasurer for the Ladies Community Club in Gary, was a committee member for the Gary School Annual Roundup and their scholarship program, served on the Gary cemetery Committee, and participated in the organization of the Tex Ritter Museum. Mrs. Nichols loved playing canasta, 42, dominos, bowling, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul and Buron Smith; and two half-brothers, Leonard and Albert Smith.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by one son, Jerry Nichols and wife Cathy of Port Neches; one daughter, Fredna Nichols of Gary; one sister, Irene Campbell of Tenaha; one two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Lumberton and Mildred Greenroyd of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Dayna Withers and husband Wyatt of Buna and Lauren Nichols of Groves; and three great-grandchildren, Addison, Emerie, and Jace. Mrs. Nichols is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, caregivers at Winkler House, nurses from Heart’s Way Hospice, and her many friends from Eastside Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers are Kenny Thorson, Sydney Burns, Danny Smith, Johnny Woodfin, Ryke Anderson, and Donnie Smith.

Foster G. Hancock
(December 13, 1931 - August 17, 2011)
A memorial service for Mr. Foster G. Hancock, age 79, of Longview, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Towne Lake Village Club House. Mr. Hancock passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2011, after a long illness. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Foster G. Hancock was born on Dec. 13, 1931, in Redwater, TX to Obie and Thelma Lorane Bullock Hancock. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed golfing, flying, and building airplanes. He was married on Nov. 11, 1992. Mr. Hancock was a man of honor and integrity and he enjoyed life to the fullest.
He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Kathleen Hancock; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Hancock and wife Jamie of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Richardson and husband Kevin of Longview; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two loving dogs, Cleo and Cookie.

Nelda Jean Clark
(May 1, 1938 - August 19, 2011)
Graveside services for Mrs. Nelda Jean Clark, age 73, of Longview, TX formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Mt. Bethel cemetery near Gary, TX with Bro. Calvin Hancock officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Clark passed away on Friday night, Aug. 19, 2011, in Kilgore, TX.
Nelda Jean Graves Clark was born on May 1, 1938, in Carthage, TX to Deward Lee and Nancy Nello Ritter Graves. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1955, and attended Tyler Business College. Mrs. Clark married Leo Willis Clark on Nov. 30, 1957, in Carthage and he preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2008. She worked as a bank teller at First National Bank in Carthage for many years and was the first person to operate a bank computer in Carthage. Mrs. Clark loved planting flowers, shopping, and helping others. She loved her family dearly, was a wonderful Christian mother, and dear friend. Mrs. Clark was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to Longview in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, David Wayne Youngblood who passed away on Dec. 18, 1990.
Mrs. Clark is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Clark of Longview; one son, Leo Anthony Clark and wife Angela of Center; three brothers, Rex Graves and wife Beverly of Carthage, Lynn Graves and wife Darline of Carthage, and Johnny Earl Graves and wife Patsy of Denver; and three grandchildren, Ryan Youngblood of Nacogdoches and Jessica and LeAnn Clark of Center. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Clark.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses of Margaret’s House/Beacon Hospice of Longview for the loving care shown to Mrs. Clark.

Johnnie Harrison Hall
(November 27, 1924 - August 25, 2011)
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Harrison Hall, age 86, of Garland, TX formerly of Panola County, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Interment will follow in Gary cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Mrs. Hall passed away on Thursday morning, Aug. 25, 2011, in Dallas.
Johnnie Harrison Hall was born on Nov. 27, 1924, in Panola County, TX to John Oscar and Eva Attaway Harrison. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1943. Mrs. Hall married Edmone Earl Hall in Sept. of 1943, and he preceded her in death on Apr. 4, 1987. She worked as a bookkeeper for Gary Gas and Water for many years. She loved to bowl and she loved watching the Texas Rangers. Mrs. Hall was a former member of First Baptist Church in Carthage where she participated in the AWANA program and was a member of the J.O.Y. Group. She moved to Garland in 2004, and was a member of the Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Garland. Mrs. Hall was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Oda Eaves and Reba Cromwell.
Mrs. Hall is survived by two sons, Dr. David Hall and wife Wanda of Rowlett and Michael Hall and wife Jill of Dawson; four daughters, Sue Bravenec of Garland, Saundra Samson of Garland, Carol Packard of Flower Mound, and Alice Gill of Garland; one brother, Don Harrison and wife Kay of Lufkin; seven grandchildren, Bryan Bravenec, Lindsey Hall Thomas and husband Joshua, Casey Hall, Thomas Samson, Zachary Gill, Jessica Packard, and Amanda Packard; and one great-granddaughter, Eleina Thomas. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Hall.
Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Bravenec, Casey Hall, Thomas Samson, Zachary Gill, and Joshua Thomas.
