Benesh

Bob Allen Benesh, 74, of Lake Charles, died Monday, January 2, 2017, in Ames.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter.

Bob was born February 19, 1942 in McCune, Kansas to parents; Allen and Sue Terry Benesh, has been a long-time resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Ray High School of Corpus Christi, a former employee of PPG, and a retired training supervisor from the Safety Council of Lake Charles. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, tractor work, and playing golf.

Mr. Benesh was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Gina Devers Benesh, sister: Sondra Benesh. He is survived by his son: Brad Benesh and wife Shawn of Dayton, daughter: Grayce Benesh of Dayton, brothers: Jack and Tripp Benesh of Corpus Christi, grandchildren: Madison Benesh, Hailey Chapman, Josh Chapman, Aerial Ronell, Maryjane Campain, and Ethan McCorquodale, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

For those who desire donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Autism Society of America, in Bob’s name.

Miller

Loicey Joseph Miller 79, of Anahuac died Dec. 31, 2016.

A Graveside Service will be held 2PM, Monday, Jan. 02, 2017 at Anahuac cemetery, Anahuac, TX.

Loicey was born in Kaplan, La; Oct. 11, 1937. His parents were Arcena and Editha Miller. He had 5- brothers, 6- half-brothers and 1- half-sister. He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957, he was stationed in Guam. Loicey married Lula LeBlanc, Oct. 12, 1958, the day after his 21st birthday. He worked for Brown and Root for many years, where he made lifelong friends. Work brought him to Anahuac in 1970. After retiring from Brown and Root, he began working for Chambers County in the Maintenance Department. He loved to do carpentry work and helped many of his friends with their houses. After retirement from the County, he began mowing yards. He continued doing this until medical issues wouldn’t allow him do it any longer.

He leaves behind his loving wife Lula Miller, two children: Thomas Miller-Kulp (Gary) and Barbara Chhabria (Bo). Daughter in Law, Ruth Ann. Grandchildren: Hillary Hall (Jeff), Ross Miller and Ryan Miller (Kassi) and Manai Chhabria. The loves of his life are his four great grandchildren: Lane and Quinn Hall, Isabella and Emilia Miller. They all loved their Pawpaw.

Mr. Miller's services have been entrusted to Proctor's Mortuary (Locations in Anahuac, Beaumont, Silsbee and Woodville, TX.) .

Chapman

Doris Loraine Haynie Chapman, 97, died peacefully on December 29, 2016, in Liberty, Texas.

She was the daughter of William Rice and Gertrude Youngblood Haynie, and was born in Saratoga, Texas on May 25, 1919. Doris was a descendant of the Rev. John Haynie, early Methodist circuit rider and the first Chaplain of the Republic of Texas who arrived with his family in Texas on January 8, 1839. She lived most of her life in Hardin, Polk and Liberty counties. Doris was a graduate of Hull-Daisetta High School and Houston Business College.

Doris married Leslie Arundel Chapman on June 20, 1938. They had three children: Gina Chapman Bouchard of Houston, Charlotte Chapman Cope of Houston and Leslie Arundel Chapman Jr., deceased, of Liberty. Doris and Leslie "Chubby" Chapman developed Ridgewood Subdivision and built Ridgewood Grocery and Bar B Que. The store was later owned and operated by Les Chapman, Jr. under the name "Happy Chap".

Doris Chapman was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, Libertad Chapter, and The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, Liberty, TX. and a fifty year member of the Eastern Star. However, after retiring, the MOST important thing to her was fishing! She would go anytime she was asked. While in her nineties, she caught a "grand slam" on the bay and was featured in Gulf Coast Fishing magazine. She also loved to gamble and looked forward to going to Louisiana with her sister and playing the nickel machines.

Besides the aforementioned, Doris leaves behind a brother, William E. Haynie of Liberty and a sister Joyce Carl of Pollok, TX. She was preceded in death by her brother John A Haynie.

Her grandchildren are Charlotte Michelle Bouchard, George Robert Bouchard and wife Angelee, Leslie Arundel Chapman, III, Chase Phillip Chapman and Lloyd Chapman Cope and wife Jessica. Great grand-children include: Taylor Chapman, Leslie Arundel Chapman, IV, Alexander Yuille Elmaleh, Liberty Lucinda Robson, Sydney Bouchard, Matthew Bouchard, and James Bouchard.

Doris was very close to many of her nieces and nephews who supported her throughout her three year stay at Magnolia Place Nursing home. The family would also like to express our deep gratitude to the nursing staff of Magnolia Place Nursing Home whose love and gentle caring enabled our Mother to enjoy the final years of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the charity of your choice, or to one of the following: Libertad Chapter, NSDAR, for the Partlow House Fund, % Gloria Stratton, P.O. Box 9160, Liberty, Texas, or The First Methodist Church, P.O. Box 469, Liberty, Texas.

Services for Doris Loraine Haynie Chapman will be Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at 1pm at First United Methodist Church in Liberty, TX. Graveside services will be at 3pm at Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty, TX.

Vardeman

Lou Mettlen Vardeman, 85, a native Texan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in Dayton.

She was born on September 2, 1931 in Wells, Texas to Jewel and Lois Reece Mettlen. Lou graduated from Hardin High School before receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin and completed her Master’s at Sam Houston State. She worked in education for 46 years with the Aldine ISD before retiring. Lou was one of the very first consultants that Aldine hired. She assisted several people over the course of their school years with writing research papers, which were not typed because she could not type. Lou helped Aldine implement their Pre-K programs, Direct Instruction and even taught ESL classes for adults at MacArthur High School under North Harris Community College.

Lou loved to travel. Upon her retirement, she traveled to Egypt, Israel, Alaska, Colombia, Panama Canal, Singapore and Branson with friends and family. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and was greatly skilled at organizing get-togethers in which her biggest priority was what type of food was going to be eaten by all. Lou had several hobbies, she loved to read and was rarely without a book in her hand. She had a standing date every Saturday with her friends to shop and eat Mexican food. Lou also loved to go to the Gem and Jewelry shows where she acquired several pieces of jewelry for herself and family. As a matter of fact, she loved to purchase jewelry from her various travel destinations and she felt a sense of triumph if she could haggle to get a better deal. Lou will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Lou Sayers Vardeman; her brother John Mettlen; her sister Linda Faye Mettlen; her nephews Jared Wheeler and Codie Mettlen; and her cousin Gladys Jones. She is survived by her sister-in-law Linda Mettlen of Moss Hill; her nieces and nephews Nita Pestlen and husband Patrick of Dayton, Rita Wheeler and husband Albert of Moss Hill, Daron Mettlen and wife Sherry of Moss Hill and Steven Mettlen and wife Deedra of Jasper; her great-nieces and nephews Katrina Powell and husband TJ, Erika Wheeler, Caleb and Cory Mettlen, Zackery Powell, Tad and Abra Smith, Ethan, Bobby and Grayson Heffington, Waylon Daley, Kenny Fountain and Rylee Rushing; her great-great-niece and nephews Dana, James and Marcus Whitworth and Jared Wheeler; her extended and close family members Charlie and Angie Heffington, Sid and Misty Daley; and a host of relatives and special friends.

A celebration of Lou’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, 4031 FM 1960, Dayton, Texas.

Graham

Lavada Graham 71, of Thicket, died on Monday December 19, 2016 at Silsbee Convalescent Center.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services, with Reverend Harry Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket.

There will be a gathering of family and friends also on Wednesday December 21, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at Faith & Family.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ruby Crane. Survivors include her husband, Robert Graham of Thicket. Daughters, April Lilley and husband Dennis of Saratoga, Sandy Haen and husband James of Garnett KS. Sisters, Carolyn Essary of Waxahachie, Sheila Townley and husband Ronnie of Huntsville, AL. Brothers, Dwight Crane of New Caney, and Coleman Crane of Conroe.

Grandchildren are Kristopher, Stacey, Randy, Dustin, Nicole, Lanie, and numerous great grandchildren.

Nelson

Walter Neal Nelson, known as Runt, 53, of Smith Point died Friday, December 23, 2016 in Anahuac, Texas surrounded by loved ones. He was a loving husband, dad, son, brother, poppy, uncle, and friend.

Runt was born January 6, 1963 in Anahuac, Texas to Ben and Jeri Nelson. He worked with the family owned business Jeri’s Seafood for about 40 years. He dedicated his time to family, fishing, shrimping, hunting, gardening, and arrowhead hunting. He basically loved anything outdoors and did so with his beloved companion T-Dot by his side. Anyone that knew Runt realized he had a passion for family history and antiquing. Runt was a one of a kind man that became a mentor to many young people that loved to call him uncle. He was known as the man that never wore shoes but if he wore them he would gladly give them to someone in need. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He was the kind of person that loved to take a recipe and make it his own just to have someone try it and enjoy the compliments. He may have come off strong but had a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. Runt will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Runt was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Nelson; brother Benjamin Nelson Jr.; grandfather Neal Nelson; uncle Joe Nelson; and cousin Bo Nelson. He leaves behind those to cherish his memories, his beloved wife Kathy of 33 years; his mother Jeri Nelson; his daughters Angela Nelson, Amber Ayres and her husband Justin Ayres; his wonderful grandchildren Jayden Ayres, Jake Ayres, Rouxel Waits, and Lorigan Tyler; his sister Terri Woody and her husband Tracy; grandmother Jewel Nelson; mother-in-law Charlotte Broussard; sisters-in-law Susan Williamson, Karen Covington and her husband Reid; nieces and nephews Shawn Covington, Britney Underwood, Tamara Rodriquez, Justin Woody, Ashley Salazar, Bethany Woody, Alex Radke, and Casey Radke; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Chap Cain, Brent Abernathy, Mark Porter, Raymond Turner, Frenchy France, Dave Wilcox, Jose Luis Pescador and Jim Glock. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Ben Beauoi.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4pm until 8pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street, Anahuac, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 405 Magnolia Avenue South, Anahuac, Texas. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Jackson cemetery, Double Bayou, Texas.

Foster

Billie Jean Green Foster, 86, of Spring, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in Tomball.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland.

Billie was born April 2, 1930 in Pitkin, Louisiana, to parents; Mack L. and Mamie V. Stricklin Green. A former resident of Richardson, Billie resided in Spring for the past 40 years. She was a graduate of Hardin High School, a Girl Scout Leader, a retired sales associate for Sears Hardware and an active member of the North Oaks Baptist Church. She also enjoyed camping, puzzles, and gardening.

Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Kenneth L. Foster, Sr., her siblings, and great-grandchildren: Caleb and Elisabeth. She is survived by her sons: Kenneth L. Foster, Jr. and wife Sharon of Garland and David M. Foster and wife Melinda of Bryan; daughters: Diane Foster Ray Candler and husband Pete of Virginia, Patricia K. Reddick and husband Ron of Colorado, and Myra J. Feagin and husband Bruce of Lone Oak; brother-in-law: Myron Foster and wife Sandra of Houston; grandchildren: Brandi, Tracy, Rachel, Holly, Kerry, Jamie, Shaun, Cassie, Denise, Joey, Kiri, Tabitha, Heather, Elizabeth, and Amanda; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Eugene, Aiden, Everett, Ashlyn, Alec, Grace, Elisabeth, Shelby, Shane, Lillie, Andrew, Brittany, Jemma, Jaxson, Liam, Arabella, Dylan, Katie, Jacob, Sabrina, Parker, Aurora, Cooper, Landrie, and Bryce on the way, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Rusk

Benny Lee Rusk, 91, of Liberty, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his home.

Benny was born December 8, 1925 in Nederland, Texas. He went to grade school in Pasadena, attended college at Columbia University and University of Houston. He was a veteran who served in the Army from August 1944 to July 1946. During World War II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was survived by his wife, Linda, of 31 years. His children: Nancy, and husband, Sonny Applebe, Benetta Rusk, Laura, and husband, Gene Schifani, Jill Rusk, and Ashlee, and husband Myles May, Sisters: Gytha McNair and Aileen Evans. Benny has five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Benny is preceded in death by his parents: D. L. & Newel Rusk, brothers Cecil and Anthony Rusk, and sister, Marilyn Davis.

Benny was a retired farmer and rancher. He was former President of First State Bank in Liberty. From becoming a pilot, going on African Safari hunts to the countless hunting and fishing trips and establishing ranches across Texas, Benny lived a life full of adventure. As a boxer for the Army, he traveled to many countries, fought in Madison Square Garden, even jogged with Dean Martin and Jerry Lee Lewis while they learned to ride a horse through Central Park.

Having grown up during the Great Depression, surviving WWII, and boxing for the Army, Benny strived for success in all facets in his life. Whether it was banking, farming, ranching or flying, Benny exhibited leadership and generosity to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Through his hard work and dedication, Benny lived a life full of accomplishments and adventures. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Benny memory to the First United Methodist Church in Liberty or a charity of your choice.

Services for Benny Lee Rusk will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Moore

Neva Marie Conner Moore, 93, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016, in Dayton.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Huffman cemetery in Huffman. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Marie was born September 9, 1923 in Houston, to parents; Lee and Dorothy Elsey Parker, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. She was a cafeteria cook for Dayton I.S.D. and member of the Gum Grove Baptist Church. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, church activities, reading her bible, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Haze Conner and Verlon Moore, daughter: Hattie M. Wade, one brother, and numerous sisters. She is survived by her son: Eugene H. “Gene” Conner and wife Jenny of Dayton, sister: Dorothy Few of Dayton, son-in-law: Bill Wade of Dayton, grandchildren: Katy Miller and husband Jeff, Scotty Tauber and husband Mark, Matt Conner, Brett Conner and wife Amy, Lisa Wade, and Bryan “Bubba” Wade, great-grandchildren: Amber Wade, Kolby Wade, Dani Ward, Casey Ward, Haze Conner, Hollis Conner, Harrison Conner, Harper Conner, Kaelinn Marie Tauber, Karlee Tauber, Holden Miller, Sterling Miller, and Janson Miller, great great-granddaughter: Brynn Marie Diamond, numerous other relatives, and friends.

Guillory

Rose Guillory was born on April 1, 1928 to the late Aliday and Beatrice Semien, both of Church Point, Louisiana. Rose was the 3rd of twelve (12) children.

Throughout her live, Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a very hard worker. She enjoyed everything, from time with her children, other family and friends, special dinners after Sunday masses and special holidays. She enjoyed playing bingo and entertaining family and friends. She was a caregiver up to the age of 82 and truly enjoyed every minute of the care she provided to her patients. She was a devote Catholic and spent many hours daily in prayer.

Visitation will be at Wells Funeral Services in the Althea P. Gibson Chapel on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. She will lie-in-state Wednesday, December 28, 2016, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 101 Donatto St., Ames, Texas; Rosary will begin at 10:00 am, Mass starts - 11:00 am.

Fr. Ayo Emmanuel Efodigbue, MSP officiating.

Interment is Our Mother of Mercy Catholic cemetery – Ames, Texas.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.
