Ambrose

Dorothy Louise Tullos Ambrose, age 88 of Hardin, died December 9, 2016 at Magnolia Place in Liberty, TX.

Dorothy was born September 14, 1928 in Hardin, TX to Albert Benjamin Tullos and Verna Barrett Tullos. She graduated from Hardin High School in 1945 and married O.F. “Buster” Ambrose on April 26, 1947 in Liberty, TX. Dorothy worked as a bank teller for many years at the former First State Bank and eventually was the bookkeeper for Ambrose Plumbing in Hardin, TX. She was a lifelong member of the Hardin United Methodist Church and was the church pianist/organist serving in that capacity for over sixty years until her health declined in 2015. Dorothy served on several committees at the church and was actively involved in the CIA and Senior Citizen’s activities. She was a very devoted Christian woman and loved the Lord with all her being. She was a loving mother to her four sons and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved working in her yard, keeping her house spotless and taking little road trips and shopping with her two cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her two sisters; Chessie Tullos Bailey and Ima Jean Tullos Hubbard.

She is survived her by four sons; Elton Ambrose of Hardin, TX, Bobby Ambrose and wife Janice of Tomball, TX, Dennis Ambrose of Austin, TX and David Ambrose and wife Tammy of Orange, TX. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Shanna Ambrose Lorence, Matt Ambrose, Lindsey Ambrose Stanley, Jarrod Ambrose, Rebecca Ambrose and China Burks and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two “sister” cousins; Betty Jo Koen and Joyce Davis that she loved as sisters.

In lieu of usual remembrances, please make memorial contributions to the Hardin United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 134, Hardin, TX 77561.

Services for Dorothy Louise Tullos Ambrose will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 10am at Hardin United Methodist Church in Hardin with burial to follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 12, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Irvin

Jerry M. Irvin Sr. 76, of Silsbee, TX died Dec. 05, 2016.

Services will be Dec. 10, 2016 at First Missionary Baptist Church 625 2nd St. Silsbee, TX. Visitation will begin at 12Noon until funeral at 2 P.M.. Interment will be in Rock Hill cemetery, Jasper TX.

Niesha L. Whittington 28, of Hankamer, TX. died Dec. 05, 2016.

Services are Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church 213 Albrittion Gully Rd. Hankamer, TX. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon until funeral at 2 P.M.. Interment will be in Richardson cemetery Hankamer, TX.

Redmon

Mrs. Thelma Jean Redmon 69, of Liberty, TX died Dec. 03, 2016.

Services will be Saturday Dec. 10, 2016 at Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church 1600 Wallisville Rd. Liberty, TX. Visitation will begin at 11AM until funeral at 1 P.M.. Interment will be in Lone Star cemetery Liberty Texas.

Thelma was born in Gilmer, Texas, November 28, 1947 to the proud parents of Hilton Cuba and Mrs. Frankie Mae Freeman Cuba.

Reared in Oak Grove Community in Gilmer, Texas where she attended Bruce High School and attended Oak Grove C.M.E. Church. Later moved to Houston, Texas and then Liberty, Texas. Thelma and George W Redmon Sr, was married on July 2, 1984.

Proceeding in death were brothers: Hilton Cuba Jr, Ila Ray Cuba and sisters: Rosemary Turner, Frankie Jackson and Emily Moore

Cherishing her memories are husband. George W. Redmon Sr., Children: James Cuba (Sharon), George W Redmon Jr (Shari), Tracy M Grimes (Duane), Friday Hawkins (Roy). Sisters: Eula Ozunia (Rueben) of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Whitaker of Jacksonville, Texas, Maggie Hooks of San Diego, California, Joann Birdine (J.T.) of Leesburg, Texas and Fredricka Mathis of Gilmer, Texas. Brothers: Lavern Dixon (Sherry) of Washington, Texas, Gerald Cuba, Mario Cuba (Myeisha), Willie Darden (Kim), Ronald Darden (Teresa) and Laurence Darden all of Gilmer, Texas. Uncle: Bonnie Cuba of Longview, Texas. 17 grandkids and a host of great grands, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Redmon's services have been entrusted to Proctor's Mortuary (Locations in Anahuac, Beaumont, Silsbee and Woodville, TX.) .

Griffin

Juanita Moore Griffin, 83, of Liberty, died December 4, 2016 at Methodist Hospital of Houston to reunite with her Lord and Savior.

Visitors are welcome Thursday December 8, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services, Inc located in Batson, Texas. Funeral service will also be held December 8, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Dick Lintelman officiating. Burial to follow at Cooke cemetery in Liberty TX.

Juanita was born on October 15, 1933 in Liberty, TX to parents Willis Thibodeaux and Ovena Blanchard Thibodeaux. She later married Donald Moore and they resided in Liberty then moving later on to Smith Point, TX. While in Smith Point they operated a shrimp Boat, Miss Nita, for several years. After the loss of Donald, she returned to Liberty and married Henry Lee Griffin.

Never wavering in her Christian faith and always positive no matter what life events came her way, she loved life. She made the most of any and all opportunities offered to her while on this earth. She had an infectious personality and generosity that will be missed by all that knew her. She will be remembered by her smile, laughter, kindness, and nurturing traits. Juanita was a very vibrant individual, keeping herself busy with her many hobbies, such as sewing, painting, traveling, socializing, and entertaining. You name it, she “seized the moment” every chance she had! She loved her numerous family members and friends and would do anything for them. Her love of children within her immediate family and beyond led her to raise and teach those children, based on Proverbs 22:5-7 which states “Train a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it”. She taught many life-long skills and lessons to these children that will remain throughout their lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Donald Moore, and 13 siblings.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Lee Griffin and her stepsons; Henry Lee Jr., Randy, and Bruce, her sisters; Anna Fregia and husband C.D., and Caroline Goins Martin and husband Jimmy, her brother; Phill Thibodeaux and wife Pat, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her extended Smith Point, Texas family.

Tomlinson

Reverend Alvin Leo Tomlinson of Saratoga, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday December 2, 2016. He was 90.

Brother Alvin was born July 8, 1926 in Saratoga, to Johnnie Robinson Tomlinson and Mattie Alice Biddle. He had moved from Crestone, Colorado in 1983 to Saratoga, where he had lived most of his life.

He had earned his Bachelor Of Science Degree and was a school teacher and had taught at West Hardin Independent School District for many years. He had also worked as an oilfield worker, and was a Southern Baptist Minister and a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran and member of West End Baptist Church of Saratoga.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life wife, Lucille "Lou" Tomlinson who left him on July 13, 2014. Sons, Dana Tomlinson and Brad Tomlinson. Brothers, Basil Tomlinson, Johnnie Tomlinson, and sister, Geraldine Peco.

Brother Alvin is survived by his brother, Calvin "Pee Wee" Tomlinson and wife Billie Jean of Saratoga. Grandchildren are Tamera, Emily, Chana, Zach, Stad and Brenna. Great Grandchildren: 9.

A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday December 6, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at The First Assembly of God Church in Saratoga, with Grandson, Zach Tomlinson and Pastor Keith de la Moriniere of West End Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Old Hardin cemetery in Kountze.

There will be a gathering of family and his many friends on Monday December 5, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at First Assembly of God Church of Saratoga.

Serving as pallbearers are Bubba Tomlinson, Chris Ronalder, Zach Tomlinson, Stad Tomlinson, Emily Tomlinson, Acy Creel, Jerrami Huitt, and Ed Holland.

Honorary pallbearers are Calvin "Pee Wee" Tomlinson, Hayden Tomlinson, A.J. Ashworth, Johnathan Hollen, Gavin Huitt, and Luke Tomlinson.

Griffin

Robert “Bobby” Wayne Griffin, 66, of Moss Hill died Friday, December 02, 2016 in Liberty.

Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton.

Bobby was a lifelong resident of Liberty County. He attended Dayton schools and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was known as Little Tex.

He previously worked as an electrician for G. E. He had a great love for his family, fishing, hunting, and golf. Bobby loved high school sports especially his beloved Broncos and was SETX sports writer for many years. He started Dayton Booster Club and the first DHS Golf Team. He was an active member of Rose Hill St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Cold Spring and he sang in the choir. Bobby had a passion for gardening just like his mother and enjoyed sharing his beautiful mustard greens with his friends and family. He was quite the baker, making cookies, cakes and other delicious creations. He could cook 600 pork steaks at one time. He was an avid story teller, jokester, and prankster with his family enjoying it all.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Griffin; his mother, Betty Jean “Patsy” Kelley Cantin; stepfather, Red Cantin; and brother, Glen Alan Griffin.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Henscey; sons, Jimmy Griffin and wife Michelle, Jeffery Griffin, Blake Griffin and wife Melanie, Kim Cox and wife Barbara, Cory Cox; sisters, Laura Pickett and husband Carl; brother, Jimmy “Bimbo” Griffin and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Troy, Chad, Rachel, Emily, Konstantine and Killian; nieces and nephews, Logan Pickett and wife Megan, Lyndsay Burgoyne and husband Drew; Cory Pickett, Hannah Griffin Pray and husband Austin; great-nephews, Triston, Korbyn, Ryder, and great-niece, Lux; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Tucker

Theodore Tucker, a longtime resident of Dayton, Texas, died Sunday, November, 27th, 2016; he was 76 years old.

Services will be in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas on Monday, December 5th, 2016.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 AM followed by an 11:00 AM funeral.

A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Palms Memorial Park cemetery, Dayton, Texas.

Born March 16th, 1940 in Caruthersville, Missouri, Mr. Tucker was retired from Union Pacific Railroad and Missouri Pacific Railroad companies.

Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his son, Theodore Tucker III, who was born November 12th, 1972 and taken December 7th, 2009; and two brothers, James W. Tucker and John L. Tucker.

Surviving loved ones include his daughter, Faith Ann, and her husband Dennis Young, of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren include Amber Menard, Aaron Menard, and Kyle Tucker.

Mr. Tucker is also survived by three sisters, Mary Logan of Kingwood, Texas, Louise Sanders of Beaumont, Texas, and Shirley Thomas of Beach City, Texas.

Medina

Carlos Medina, Jr., 65, of Porter, died Saturday, November 26, 2016, in Kingwood, surrounded by family.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016, followed by a celebration of Carlos’s life until 5 pm at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Carlos was born March 17, 1951, in Dayton, to parents Carlos, Sr. and Josie Medina, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Porter for the past 30 years. He was a truck driver for Texan Transportation. He also enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, carpentry, and cooking.

Mr. Medina is preceded in death by his father: Carlos Medina, Sr. and his brother: Mike Medina. He is survived by his wife: Cynthia Medina, daughter and son-in-law: Carly and Thomas Hudson, sons: Casey and Cody Medina, granddaughter: Harper Hudson, mother: Josie Medina, brothers: Pete Medina and Mark Medina, sisters: Martina Medina and Eloise Medina, numerous other relatives, and friends.

Hebert

Vemis Hebert died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at San Jacinto Hospital in Baytown, Texas.

Vemis (Fat) as he was known by family members and close friends was born on October 25, 1937 to the late Gabe and Lorena Hebert, Sr. He was the youngest son of five sisters and five brothers. Vemis graduated from Colbert High School in Dayton, Texas.

Vemis enjoyed dressing up and sitting around with family. Listening to music was one of his most pleasurable pastimes.

Vemis was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Vivian Mayes, Teresa Wilson, Verlee Taylor and Artis Maye Charles; his brothers Hayward, Orzie, Gabe, Jr., Lawrence and Lenard Hebert; his very special nephews Askay Everett and Mark Hebert; and a very special niece June Jackson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his very special nieces Camellia Ann Semien, Belinda Joyce Tousant, Michele Rena Papillion, Ramona Yvette Reed, Donna Kay Harris and Tonya Denise Hebert; his very special nephews Orrin Wayne Hebert, Kenneth Ray Hebert, Norman Wayne Hebert, Donald Jay Hebert and Kevin Earl Tousant; his sister Hilda (Faye) Taylor; and a host of extended family and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9am to 11am on Saturday, December 5, 2016 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home located at 602 North Main in Dayton. Funeral service will begin at 11am in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home.
