Hard

After many, many years of battling multiple health conditions, Bennie Dale Hard, 72 of Hull, died at 10:55pm on November 27, 2016, surrounded by family.

He was married to his beautiful wife on December 30, 1974 and this year - 42 years later - they have 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter on the way. He was also well known and greatly respected on the waterways known as "Capt. Hard" as the Captain of many different Tow Boats during his 35 year career. In addition he was a devout Christian and a member of the Masonic Lodge #995. This great man meant so much to so many people. He was our rock... our hero. And that is the way he will forever live on in our memories.

Bennie is pre-deceased by his father and mother, Leonard and Lois Hard; son Randal Hard; and sister Florence Huse. He is survived by his wife Nadine Hard; Brothers Charles and Albert Hard; Sister Ann Bullock; Son Chris Hard; Son Jeremy Hard and his wife Holly; Daughter Amber Osborne and her Husband Wes; Granddaughter Kati Bobo and Husband Wesley; Granddaughter Christine Hard and Trent Osburn; Grandsons Jason Hard, Brady Hard, and Ethan Osborne; Granddaughters Ashley Sewell, Kelsi Hard, Lauren Hard, Keely Hard, and Hailey Osborne; Great-Granddaughters Aubrie Osburn and Lylith Bobo.

Cost-Causey

Heather Renee Cost-Causey, 29, of Kenefick, died Friday, November 25, 2016, in Liberty.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at French cemetery in Dayton. Services directed by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Heather was born March 23, 1987 in Houston, to parents; Jacky and Edwina Fingleman Cost, and has been a lifelong resident of the Kenefick/Dayton area. She was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 2005 and had attended both San Jacinto Community and Lee Colleges. She also enjoyed music, reading, fishing, Anime, exploring different foods, her Starbucks, and especially spending time with her nieces.

Mrs. Causey was preceded in death by her grandparents: Ed and Eunice Fingleman and Buster and Grace Dell Cost, aunt: Ann Hracek, cousins: Keri Roark and Sevyn Herndon. She is survived by husband of 10 years: James Causey of Kenefick, parents: Jacky and Edwina Cost of Dayton, parents-in-law: Jim and Kim Causey of Dayton, sister: Amanda Cost-Hester and husband Chris of Baytown, brothers: Matthew Cost and wife Beth of Missouri and Seth Cost of Dayton, sister-in-law: Jeannie Causey and husband Corey Short of Dayton, grandfather-in-law: Bob Skeen of Kenefick, nieces: Lilli Short, Cambreah Truesdell, and Tessa Hester, her furry friends: Albert and Potato, numerous other relatives, and friends.

Berry

Our beautiful free spirit, Carlie Jean Berry, 21, of Anahuac, Texas died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Smith Point, Texas.

She was born on January 31, 1995 in Baytown, Texas to Justin and Candy Henry Berry. Carlie graduated from Anahuac High School Class of 2012 and worked as a hairdresser. She was an outgoing young woman who loved and lived life to the fullest. Carlie loved nothing more than spending time with her loving family and friends. She would always have matching shirts made for everyone for just about any occasion or special family events going on.

Carlie was the oldest of three girls and was a nurturer to all. She enjoyed the simple things in life like taking selfies, river trips, swimming, sitting by the fire and watching Netflix. Carlie enjoyed her frequent outings at Napolito’s in Anahuac, always texting family or friends to join her there for lunch or dinner at least twice a week. Most would describe Carlie as always being on the go, never able to sit idle for very long, she was a gypsy of sorts. She enjoyed shopping; and was a smart shopper to others, but what she liked most about shopping was spending everyone else’s money doing it. Carlie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carlie leaves behind to cherish her memory her parents, Justin and Candy Berry of Anahuac, Texas; her daughter Hadlea and her father Marco Davila; her siblings Cassidy, Graci and Chance; her grandparents Charlie and Peggy Henry and Kathy Carter; her aunts and uncles Penny Brown and husband Ronnie, Amy May, Ronda Racca and husband Scott and Sara Johnson and husband Audie; and numerous loving cousins, great aunts and uncles; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home located at 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, December 2, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 405 Magnolia Avenue South in Anahuac, Texas, with Bro. Danny Biddy officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Hayes

Patricia Gail Hayes of Moss Hill, died on Saturday November 26, 2016 at her residence with her family by her side. She was 82.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services with Reverend Tony Hines officiating. Interment will follow at Moss Hill cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Bracewell, Cole Parrish, Jeremy Castor, Tommy Culpepper, Jimmy Evans and Dalton Smoke.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday November 29, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

Patricia was a homemaker and had lived in Moss Hill, for about 35 years. She loved being with her family and will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Ray Hayes parents, Mederris Evans and Margurete Florence Greer Dobson and son, Jerry Boyett.

Survivors include son, Gene Boyett and Loral Eagel of Yonkers, N.Y. Daughter, Linda Bracewell and husband Austin of Moss Hill. Brothers, Robert Evans of Rye, Mederris Evans Jr. and wife Ann of Moss Hill, and one sister, Donna Sue Barron and husband Roy of Devilla LA.

Her grandchildren whom she loved very much are Megan and Tommy, Wendi and Cole, Brandon, J.R. and Jennifer, Connie and P.J. Great Grandchildren: 8 and Great Great Grandchildren: 2

Milstead

Cody Montana Carl Milstead 24 of Moss Hill, died on Sunday November 20, 2016 in Batson.

A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday December 1, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson. Interment will follow at Treece Family cemetery of Moss Hill.

The family will be receiving friends also on Thursday December 1, 2016 from 11:00A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel.

Cody was a carpenter by trade. He was born December 21, 1991 in Humble, TX to William Emanuel Milstead and Lorrie Treece. He had lived in Moss Hill, most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorrie Treece. Grandfathers, Herbert Treece and Carl Milstead, Survivors are his father, William Emanuel Milstead of Silsbee, Brothers, Christopher Milstead of Vidor, Christopher Treece and Garrett Treece both of Moss Hill, and sister Candace Cline of Silsbee. Grandmother, Betty Hale of Moss Hill, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Hanel

Doug Hanel age 67 of Hull, Texas died surrounded by family on November 24, 2016.

He loved his wife of 23 years, Mary Jo (Elliott) Hanel, His son Marvin Earl Elliott and wife Patricia, His daughter Windy Copeland and husband Mark, Grandsons Coby Elliott, Sam Elliott and wife Devyn, Tyler Copeland, Granddaughters Keshia Hilton and husband Josh, Megan Copeland, Great grandkids Paiten, Bella, Waco, Pecos, Ace, Priscilla. And god-son William Hanel. Along with many family and friends.

Born and raised in Liberty, Texas son of the late George and Clydelle Hanel. He Graduated from Liberty High School in 1968. Doug was a very giving man enjoying the Christmas holidays. He truly embodied the giving spirit. Many hearts were touched while traveling from Austin to Southeast Texas bringing Christmas joy to boy havens, orphanages, and families far and wide. In his spare time Doug spent hours gazing at the stars. Including gathering with his grandkids and all that would look at the stars with him. Pop Pop was known far and wide for his ability to fix anything; He loved working on floats for the youth and boiling crawfish with friends and family.

One of Doug’s many accomplishments was to be named citizen of the year in 2002 by the Liberty-Dayton area Chamber of Commerce.

Services for Doug Hanel will be Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic cemetery inn Liberty. Visitation will be Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm in the chapel of Allison’s.

Tidwell

Donald Charles Tidwell, 78 years of age, died at a hospital in Livingston, Texas on November 24, 2016.

He is survived by his wife Kelley Tidwell, his sons: Charles Michael Tidwell, George Andrew Tidwell, and Jeffery Glen Tidwell and their wives. Grandchildren: Andria Tidwell, Matthew Cloud, Jessica Tidwell, Abigail Tidwell, Chrissy Woodward, Dayna Sallies, James Little, Megan Cox, and Layne Tidwell; and his two sisters Martha (Tidwell) Hook and Patsy (Tidwell) Tullar and their families.

Visitation will be at Wells Funeral Services in the Althea P. Gibson Chapel on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.. He will lie-in-state Monday, November 28, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in Rural Shade Baptist Church, 3304 CR 2274, Cleveland, Texas; funeral services will follow 10:00 AM.

Interment is in Ryan cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Hunt

Patsy Elaine Hunt of Liberty, died Tuesday November 15, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Houston. She was 65.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday November 26, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services.

The family will be receiving friends also on Saturday November 26, 2016 at Faith & Family Funeral Services from 3:00 P.M. until service time.

Patsy was born August 27, 1951 in Liberty, TX, to Hollis B. Hunt and Laura Jane Rogers. She lived in Hull for 18 years and was a homemaker.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Shaun Hebert and wife Mimzy of Raywood, daughter, Misty Hebert of Liberty Co., brother, Rusty Hunt and wife Theresa of Hull, sister, Carolyn Hunt Watson and husband Gideon of Hardin, nephews, Randall Hunt of Houston, Ned Watson of Hardin and Josh Watson of Hardin, grandchildren, Chance Hunt, Niko Simpson, Shaun Lee Hebert II, Sha'lee Hebert and Houston Pike.

Freeman

Jerry Alton Freeman of Kountze, TX died Friday November 18, 2016 at Pine Arbor of Silsbee. He was 82.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday November 21, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Happy Valley Church of Kountze, with Reverend Rodney Weyler and Pastor Robert Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Holland cemetery in Kountze.

Serving as pallbearers are Rodney Weyler Jr. Bryan Weyler, David Deaton, Jerry "Skeeter" Freeman, Wayde Spears, and Don Dryden.

The family will be receiving friends also on Monday November 21, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at Happy Valley Church of Kountze.

A native of Village Mills, he had lived in Kountze, most of his life and was a Deputy State Game Warden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Freeman and Viola Overstreet Freeman and sister Jackie Oliver.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Billie J. Freeman of Kountze; sons, James "Bo" Freeman and wife Judy of Kountze; Jerry "Bugs" Freeman and wife Delores of Kountze, and daughter, Shirley "Sissie" Weyler and husband Rodney of Kountze. Grandchildren: 8 and Great grandchildren: 20.

Gartner

Howard Eugene Gartner, 80, of Liberty, Texas died Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Beaumont, Texas.

He was born on May 6, 1936 in Stotesbury, Missouri to Glen Edward and Ada Smith Gartner. Howard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years with Brown and Root. Howard was considered a hard-working man who gave excellent advice to others, was playful and a great friend to many. He was a good, loving husband, always dependable for anything and anyone. Howard had many hobbies, some of which included fishing, woodworking and tinkering with model trains.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Cindy Charlene Gartner; his brothers Glen E. Gartner, Jr. and Larry David Gartner; and his sisters Vera Gartner Vessel and Alberta Gartner LeNormand.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Diana “Dee Dee” Snidle Gartner; his son Howard Scott Gartner and wife Gina; his daughter La’Lon Gartner; his sisters Mary Coker, Anita Cook and Darlene Teel; his grandchildren Paul Nathan Gartner, Kimberly Denise White, Kelsey Elizabeth Norris, Dylan Alan White, Connor Blaine White, Harper Reese Fenton and Hyatt Fenton; his stepchildren Candy Brantley and Tammy Duff and husband Jerry Duff, Jr.; his step grandchildren Kerrie Cain and Heather Morgan; his numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.

A celebration of Howard’s life will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Open House Ministries, 3605 N. Main Street, Liberty, Texas.
