Burk

David Lawrence Burk, age 77 of Devers, died November 13, 2106 in Kingwood, Texas.

David was born January 18, 1939 in Henderson, TX, son of the late Lawrence and Wynema Burk. David graduated from Liberty High School in 1957. He was a heavy equipment operator and last worked for Serve Tech, LLC. David was a lifetime member of the Liberty Elks Lodge and was an avid sports fan.

David was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife: Joneta Burk of Cleveland, TX, sons: Danny Burk and wife Marsha of Liberty, TX, Donnie Burk and wife Tracey of Wallisville, TX, daughters: Brenda Sherman and husband Robbie of Coldsprings, TX, Debbie Scott and husband Mark of Coldsprings, TX, brother: Charles Burk and wife Roberta of Silsbee, TX and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services for David Lawrence Burk will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 10am at Fairlawn Memorial cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Walker

Cleatus “Lee” Walker, 70, of Hull, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016, in home.

Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date at the Houston National cemetery in Houston. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lee was born May 8, 1946 to parents; Cleatus S. and Evelou Simon Walker. Raised in Texas he went on to become a US Marine with service during the Vietnam War. Lee was a crane operator most of his career in construction. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and motorcycles. He will be remembered as a proud Marine; a loving husband, father, grandfather, and loved by many.

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Kristine Stai Walker, sons: David L. Walker and wife Trish and Nathan Behrens and wife Katrina, daughters: Nicole Terry and husband Kyle and Natashia Mounday, grandchildren: Bridge Walker, Carter and Ella Terry, Isabell, Zoey, and Payton Behrens, and Carnal and Macz Mounday, numerous other relatives, and friends.

Randolph

On November 5, 1924, Floyd Randolph was born to Rosie Lee Love Randolph and Anderson Randolph in Hardin, Texas.

He was the fourth and youngest of their children. Floyd united with Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at a young age and remained a life-long member of this church. He was a very loyal and active member, participating in Sunday School, Brotherhood, the choir, prayer meetings and bible studies. He was also active in Nurture for Baptist Churches (formerly know as BTU-Baptist Training Union), the food committee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was a faithful member who enjoyed traveling to other churches. Floyd Randolph was very supportive of community activities as well, especially the school sporting events. Every second Saturday of each month, he served faithfully at the Star of Hope Homeless Shelter I Houston, Texas until he was physically unable to do so.

Those left to cherish the memory of Floyd Randolph are: his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Wilbeth Randolph; his brother, Earl Randolph; his daughters: Wanda Burrell (Clayton) of Hardin, Yolanda Jones (Kenneth) of Houston, Tiffiany Sowell (Randy) of Dayton, and Beth Caldwell of Mont Belvieu. His sons: Frederick of Baytown, Bishop of Hardin, Raymond (Wilda) of Houston, and Ronnie (Joyce) of Kendleton. His grandchildren are: Darrell, Mario, Ryan, Ron, Quinton, and Ronnie Randolph II, Michael Grays, Damien Henderson, Kavin and Adrian Hermann, Danielle, Clayton II, Megan Freeman, Joshua Lewis, Randolph, Ebony Jones, Ashley Jones, Kiar and Keandre Rose, Azee III, Anthony and Chelsey Caldwell. He also leaves to mourn sister-in-laws: Elizabeth Walker of Palestine, and Naomi Randolph of Houston. Brother-in-law: William Anderson Jr. of Fort Worth and twenty-one great grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be at Wells Funeral Services in the Althea P. Gibson Chapel on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. He will lie-in-state from 9:30am to 11:00am Saturday, November 12, 2016 Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Hardin, Texas. Funeral services will begin 11:00am, Rev. Gregg Bellard officiating.

Interment: Bingham cemetery – Hardin, Texas. Wells Funeral Services, 300 Alabama St., Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Hathcoat

George Benjamin Hathcoat, 17, of Dayton died, Monday, November 7, 2016, in Dayton.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with burial following at Anahuac cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

George was born November 19, 1998 in Baytown, to parents; George E. Hathcoat and Tracy M. Herder Hathcoat, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. He also enjoyed skateboarding, music, spending time with family, and making people laugh.

Mr. Hathcoat was preceded in death by his grandmother: Debra L. Tebay. He is survived by his mother: Tracy M. Herder Hathcoat of Dayton, father: George E. Hathcoat of Dayton, brother: Justin A. Hathcoat of Baytown, sisters: Samantha N. Hathcoat of Liberty and Rachel M. Hathcoat of Dayton, grandparents: George B. Hathcoat and wife Uvie E. of Dayton, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Jordan

Teresa Diane Jordan, 56, of the Ivanhoe addition died at her residence on Friday November 4, 2016.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 12, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services.

Teresa was born December 17, 1959 in Kountze, TX, to CW Sims, Sr. and Vivian Courts Stanley.

She lived in Kountze many years prior to moving to Woodville where she lived since 2008. She was a homemaker.

Teresa is survived by her loving husband Robert Jordan of Woodville, step-father, Steve Stanley of Kountze, mother, Vivian Stanley of Kountze.

Sons, Randy Lyle of Kountze, Johnny Wimer of Waco, Jake Wimer of Waco and Josh Wimer of Silsbee.

Brothers, CW "Buddy" Sims, of Kountze and Kevin Sims of Silsbee., sisters, Debbie Olivier of Honey Island, Tracy Martin of Kountze, Karen Seymour of Silsbee and numerous grandchildren.

Brooks

Andrea Lee Brooks, of Village Mills, died on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Pine Arbor Nursing Center in Silsbee.

She was 72. Andrea was born February 27, 1944 in Opelousas, LA to Herbert and Mary Cason Parker and was a retired Telephone Dispatcher for Southwestern Bell.

She is survived by her husband, William Brooks II of Village Mills, son, Robert and Denise Brooks, step-son William and April Brooks III, brother, Al and Kathy Parker of California, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, V. Janelle Schneider of Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be made to your local Alzheimer's Association in her memory.

Ambrose

William C. “Bill” Ambrose, 68, of Groves, TX died Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton TX, with burial following thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton TX.

Bill was born December 27, 1947 in New Albany, Indiana, to parents; William E. and Christine White Ambrose, a former resident of Dayton, TX. and has resided in Groves, TX for seven years. He was a graduate Foley High School, Foley Ala. He attended Lee College, and was a Military Veteran of the US Army. Bill worked as a radiographer for Bethlehem Steel, US Steel, and Jindal Steel. He also enjoyed trains, bowling, motorcycles, Betty Boop and participating in Mardi Gras.

Mr. Ambrose was preceded in death by parents, wife of 28 years: Barbara J. Campbell Ambrose, and brother: Robert A. Coe. He is survived by his significant other: Christine Pottorff, sons: William “Eddie” Ambrose and Jimmy Ambrose, stepsons: Johnny Farmer and Everett Farmer, stepdaughters: Cindy Moore and Katherine Singleton, sisters: Betty Diaz, Edna Beard, and Bonnie Ambrose, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Barth

Danny Lynn Barth, 53, of Allen, died from heart failure on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at the Medical Center of McKinney.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Danny was born June 23, 1963, in Tulia, to parents; Robert G. and Maurine Bennett Barth, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Allen for the past five years. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1981, attended Abilene Christian University, and was an inventory control clerk for RGIS. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking, and was an avid sports fan.

Mr. Barth was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law: Randy Lewis. He is survived by his brother: Mark Barth of Dallas, sisters: Glenda Lewis of Allen and Debbie Blanken and husband Fred of Dublin, aunt: Rita Jan Boykin of Texas City, nieces: Andrea Jackson and husband Chris and Robin Laningham, nephews: Clifton Ivester, Jr. and wife Felicity and Travis Barth and wife Melanie, great-nieces: Layden Jackson and Hadley Jackson, great-nephew: Bennett Laningham, numerous other relatives, and friends.

McDuff

Mrs. Betty McDuff, of Montgomery, Texas died Thursday, November 3, 2016. She was born on August 4, 1929 in Saratoga, Texas to Elsie Walston and Burt W. Hollister.

Betty was a graduate of Saratoga School. As a straight ‘A’ student she graduated at the age of 17 and went to work for the Hardin County Courthouse as a Deputy Clerk, handling deeds, certificates and official documents.

Competent and musical at a young age she played the accordion for her church, First Assembly of God in Saratoga and began teaching Sunday School at 16. At the age of 27 she met and married Reverend Colman McDuff. As the story goes, a friend made her attend a church service at Little Rock Assembly of God in Kountze, TX, where he was a visiting evangelist … and the rest is history.

Betty and Colman married in June of 1957 at First Assembly of God in Saratoga, where their two daughters were baptized. Evangelizing the world together, Betty and Colman came to pastor at Bell Gardens Assembly of God Church in Bell Gardens, California for 35 years.

Betty is survived by her two daughters Tammye McDuff Kline and her husband Scott Kline of Los Angeles, California and Melinda McDuff Young and her husband Brent Young of Montgomery, Texas; by grandchildren, Jennifer Henry and Jeffrey Porter of Lakewood, California; Amber Bair and Major Andy Bair of Augusta, Georgia; Michael Dunn and Vanessa De Santiago and family of Miami Florida; Brytie Young and Cole Young of Montgomery, Texas.

She is also survived by her older brothers’ family Sabra Hulsey Hollister [her best friend for 71 years]; nieces Debbie Hollister and husband Alf H. Flowers; Donna Hollister Cazares and husband Daniel J. Cazares. She leaves behind her younger brothers family Ann Drake Hollister; nieces Lori Hollister Smith and husband Brian Smith and family; Janie Hollister Lewis and husband Don Lewis and family; LeAnn Bayless Norman and family; and nephew Mike Bayless and family.

Betty is preceded in death by her two brothers; Tillman L. Hollister and Lynn E. Hollister. Betty will join her husband of 59 years Reverend Colman McDuff at Guedry cemetery in Batson, Texas.

A gathering of Betty’s family and friends will be Wednesday, November 9th at 10:00 am at First Assembly of God Church in Saratoga, TX. The address is 1st Street Saratoga, TX 77625. Flowers can be sent to First Assembly of God Church of Saratoga, Texas, to 6389 1st Street, Saratoga, Texas 77585.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may contribute to the building fund of the church she loved and grew up in First Assembly of God Church, Saratoga, Texas.

Williams

Clyde Alonzo Williams, 100, of North Moss Hill, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at his residence.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday November 5, 2016 at Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Livingston, TX, at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Danny Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Grove cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Gary Cain, Randy Cain, Eric Verrett, Scott Robinson, Josh Peoples, Lem Steele, Jonathan Collins and Cody Cain.

The family will be receiving friends also on Saturday November 5, 2016 starting at 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M., also at the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Clyde was born October 10, 1916 in Douglas, TX, to John Riley Williams and Alice Davis. He lived North of Moss Hill for 65 years where he was a self-employed Heavy Equipment Operator.

Clyde is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ray Williams, daughter, Evelyn Louise Williams, sons, Clyde Wayne Williams and Kenneth Riley Williams.

He is survived by his daughters, Jean Dernay of North Moss Hill, Carolyn Whitehead of LaGrange, TX, and also other extended family members, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Showalter

Dr. Jere Charles Showalter Jr. age 87 died Monday October 31, 2016 at his home with his beloved wife by his side.

Jere was born June 24, 1929 in Baytown, Texas the son of the late Jere Charles Showalter Sr. and Hazel Belle Church Showalter.

Jere was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown. He went on to receive his BBA in Marketing from Baylor University.

He then volunteered for the US Air Force receiving his commission in 1953 as a Lieutenant.

Jere served in the SAC during the Korean War, which included the 358th Bomber Squadron and the 303Rd Bomber Wing.

On conclusion of his service he went on to teach elementary school band and drove a school bus.

He went back to school at Lee College and the University of Houston before attending the University of Texas Dental Branch.

He graduated with a DDS in 1959. While attending dental school Jere traveled around playing his beloved saxophone in numerous bands in the Houston area.

His career started at Methodist Hospital; he became a member of the Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Houston Dental Society.

He was the past president of the Liberty Lion’s Club, where he initiated the merit scholarship which has grown from $500 to $5000. He also volunteered to provide polio and measles vaccinations at Liberty High School.

His memberships also include the First United Methodist Church of Liberty, Sons of the Republic of Texas, Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the Invincible Eagle Band. Jere will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love of people.

Jere was preceded in death by his parents as well as his son Jere Charles Showalter.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-six years Vernille Showalter of Liberty, daughter Sharon Tomme of Albuquerque, NM, three grandchildren, Zoe Showalter, Tori Showalter, and Charles Duncan. In addition he leaves numerous friends and colleagues that will cherish their memory of Jere.

Visitation will be held Friday November 4, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services to be held 2 P.M. Saturday November 5, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Liberty. Burial services will be private and held at a later date in Giddings, Texas. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jere’s memory to the FUMC Men’s Bible Class.
