Smith

Jerry Ray Smith, of Liberty, Texas, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

He was born on February 19, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas to Edgar Adam Smith, Sr. and Myrtly West Smith. Jerry attended Beaumont High School in Beaumont.

Jerry and his loving wife of 54 years Glenda, made their home in Liberty for over 36 years after relocating from Willis, Texas, raising their three children and always welcoming many friends and loved ones into their home. Jerry was always a hard worker. He retired after 35 years from Key Well Services, formerly Stanley Well Services in Liberty. Jerry was the oldest living derrick man at his retirement in 2008.

Jerry was a member of South Liberty United Methodist Church. He was a devoted family man who loved unconditionally and adored his wife, children and grandchildren. Jerry loved all of his family and spending time with them just as much. He also had many hobbies, some of which included dancing, fishing, watching television and riding his lawnmower. Jerry and his laughter will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Edgar Smith, Jr., Bobby Smith, Don Smith, Arthur Smith, Freeman Smith, Willard Smith, Wilbur Smith and Johnny Smith; and his sister Elaine Smith McCormick.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Glenda Ruth Collins Smith; his daughters Gayla Boggs and husband Richard of Baton Rouge, LA and Shelly Green and husband Brian of Kossuth, MS; his son Carroll Ray Smith, Sr. and wife Donna of Raywood, TX; his grandchildren Misty Handy and husband Gregory of Prairieville, LA, Carroll Ray Smith, Jr. of Rye, TX, Amber Morgan and husband Leo of Liberty, TX, Megan Quave and husband Daniel of Dannon Springs, LA, Adam Ryan Smith of Rye, TX, Tyler Hall and Taylor Hall of Boonville, MS, Kristopher Scott of Raywood, TX, Gabrielle Green and Danielle Green of Jumpertown, MS; his 16 great-grandchildren; his sisters Ruby Francois and husband Tommy of Canton, TX, Judy Smith Pope of Longview, TX and Betty Gable and husband Bill Gable, Sr. of Jasper, TX; his brothers-in-law Pete Collins of Willis, TX and Richard Lee Collins, Sr. and wife Bonnie of Willis, TX; his sisters-in-law Gwen Smith of Nederland, TX and Johnnie Sue Smith of Hardin, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving family members and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 8pm on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Allison Funeral Service located at 1101 N. Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, October 3, 2016 in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, with Rev. Todd Francois and Rev. William Collins officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Graves

Helen Ruth Wills Graves, 84, of Dayton died Thursday, September 29, 2016 in Houston.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, Dayton. Mrs. Graves’s service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with interment to follow at Magnolia Park cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Helen was born June 19, 1932 in Teague, Texas to parents Homer Selwyn Wills and Verna Irene Rackley Favors. She moved to Dayton when she was 16, was a graduate of Dayton High School, class of 1950 and attended Liberty County Nursing School to become an LVN. She worked at Heritage Manor for over 14 years, enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and tending her flowers. She loved cooking for her family and preparing for their gatherings.

Mrs. Graves or “Nanny” as she was fondly called was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marilyn Graves, brother Homer Fred Wills, and sister Maxine Fogleman. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, J.W. “Dubby” Graves of Dayton; sons, Ray Graves and wife Vicki of Teague, Kim Graves and wife Lynda of Dayton, and Barry Graves and wife Pam of Dayton; daughters, Janet Graves of Crosby, Alane O’Neal and husband Rusty of Dayton; brothers, Billy Wills of Teague, Ricky Wills and wife Carolyn of Teague, Larry Wills and wife Becky of Teague; grandchildren, Brant Elliott, Leo Moreau and wife Sarah, Angie Fogle and husband Lee; Danielle Pagel and husband Justin, Jared Graves, Lauren Trant & husband Jim Bob, Courtney Pingrey; Kirk Graves and wife Rachel, Brett Reeves and wife Mandy, Glen Reeves and Tammy, Macy O’Neal and Meg O’Neal; great-grandchildren, Braydon, MacKenzie, Baron, Maddie, Reece, Blakely, Jaycee, Noah, Kord, Trace, Emma and Alan; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

For those who desire memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1137, Dayton, TX 77535.

Sherrell

Milton E. Sherrell, 65, of Coldspring, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Coldspring, with services concluding thereafter.

Milton was born August 19, 1951 in Holton, Michigan, to parents; Howard H. and LaVon E. Mortensen Sherrell, and has resided in Coldspring since 1981. He was a graduate of Smiley High School, attended electrical trade school, was a member of the IBEW Local #716 and Local #66, and a retired union electrician. He also enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and helping others.

Mr. Sherrell was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children: Irene Sherrell, daughter: Tracy Kimbro-Autrey, son: Robbie Kimbro, and granddaughter: Doris Jean “DJ” Kimbro. He is survived by his wife of 27 years: Theresa Wooley Sherrell of Coldspring, daughter: Belle Johnson and husband Bobby of Cleveland, sons: Bobbie “Bubba” Kimbro of Crosby and Chris Driver of Coldspring, sisters: Sandra Wilson and husband John of San Antonio, Alice Fretwell and husband Steve of Henderson, Patricia Hale and husband William of Houston, and Donna Mills and husband Jesse of Bryan, grandchildren: Wanda Wilkerson and husband Shawn, Stephen Earhart and wife Michelle, Leslie Piechota, Robert “BJ” Johnson, Jr., William “Damon” Johnson, Devin Johnson, Jennifer “Lil Miss 42” Kimbro-Spence and Sasha, Robbie Kimbro, Jr., Milton Kimbro, and Amber Kimbro, 21 great-grandchildren, one niece, two nephews, and numerous other relatives, friends, and IBEW brothers and sisters.

Turner

Earnestine Turner, 78, died peacefully on September 24, 2016, at a local nursing home in Liberty, Texas.

Visitation will be at Wells Funeral Services in the Althea P. Gibson Chapel on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.. She will lie-in-state at 9:00 AM Saturday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Raywood, Texas. Rosary 10:00 AM and the funeral mass will begin 11:00 AM.

Father Ayo Efodigbue MSP is officiating.

Interment at Our Mother of Mercy cemetery - Ames, Texas

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Messer

Judith "Judy Mae" Mildred Messer 70, of Saratoga, died Monday September 26, 2016 at her residence with her family and friends by her side.

A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday September 29, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Roadside Memorial Baptist Church of Saratoga with Reverend Gene Denham and Reverend Frank Doucette officiating. Interment will follow at Roadside Memorial Baptist Church cemetery in Saratoga.

Serving as pallbearers are Roger Beach, Bobby Beach, Calvin Parrish, Glenn Parrish, Jack Messer, Epifanio Martinez, David Freeman and Antonio Vazques.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday September 28, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the church.

A native of Houston, she had lived in Saratoga, most of her life and was a homemaker. She was a member of The United Pentecostal Church of Saratoga.

She was survived by her husband, Elbert "Elmo" Messer of Saratoga, mother in law, Mary Puente of Saratoga, and niece, Debbie Scott of Saratoga. Also she is survived by many brother and sister in laws and a host of nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

Thibodeaux

Phillip Thibodeaux, Jr., 50, of Houston, died Monday, September 26, 2016, at the Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with burial following at French cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Phillip was born July 19, 1966 in Liberty, to parents; Phillip, Sr. and Martha Arlene Votaw Thibodeaux, a former resident of Liberty, and has resided in Houston for the past five years. He was graduate of the Liberty High School class of 1984, a former funeral director, and processing manager for Canon. He also enjoying cooking and gardening.

Mr. Thibodeaux was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his spouse: Abraham Robledo of Houston, brother: Drew Thibodeaux of Dayton, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Collins

Lillie Pearl Collins, 84, of Liberty died Sunday September 25, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday September 28, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Dick Lintelman officiating. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday September 27, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

A native and lifelong residence of Liberty, she was a homemaker and member of North Main Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Collins, daughter Rena Mae Privett and numerous brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Lee Roy Bracewell of Liberty, brother, Phil Thibodeaux of Sour Lake. Sisters, Juanita Moore of Liberty, Anna Fregia of Hull, and Caroline Thibodeaux of Horatio, Ark.

Grandchildren are Tamantha Privett, Tanya Owen, and Robert Privett II. Great grandchildren are Bailey Triplet, Brooke Triplet, Alyssa, Autumn, and Ansley Owen and son-in-law, Jimmy Owen of Conroe.

Davis

Jacqueline Rene Davis 58, of Hardin, TX died Sept. 22, 2016.

Services will be Oct. 01, 2016 at Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 5830 FM 1011 Hardin, TX. Rev. Gregg Bellard, Pastor. Gathering of friends will begin at 10AM until funeral at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Bingham cemetery, Hardin, TX.

Jacqueline was born in Houston, Texas on October 29, 1957 to Ruth Louise Davis and James Leslie Davis. Jacqueline was united with Christ at an early age at Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, in Hardin, Texas and was a member until death. Jacqueline served many years as a choir member and later became the pianist at Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Jacqueline graduated from Hardin High School where she enjoyed academic success in all subject areas.

She excelled in girls’ basketball, volleyball, and track. She was a cheerleader, voted in by popularity and was noted for her friendliness and agile ability.

She attended Lamar University and Lee College where she studied communications and nursing.

Jacqueline started her work career early as a teenager becoming a dispatcher for the City of Liberty Police Department.

She went on to work for several years at American Title in Houston before moving to Beaumont.

At A.B. Dick Company Jacqueline rose to the position of Office Manager. Feeling the call to return home to Liberty County she became a clerk at the Liberty County Clerk’s Office for eight years.

She ended her career helping others at the Liberty-Dayton Hospital.

Throughout her career Jacqueline was known for her beautiful smile and eagerness to go out of her way to help others.

Jacqueline enjoyed helping others and serving the community so much that in 2001 she became a member of the Hardin Lions Club.

She made sure to always support the club’s activities even after her illness. Jacqueline was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her mother and father; and brothers, Gary Bernard Davis and James Leslie Davis Jr.

Jacqueline leaves behind to cherish her memories: daughter, Fallon Adams (Jeremy); son, Hunter Davis; sisters, Venus Booker (Earnest), Donneshea Cook (Earl), Bonita Davis, and Morika Davis (Mark); brother, Terrance Edwards; grandchildren, Kierra Davis, Tristen Davis, Kayleigh Fregia, and Nasir Farraj; nieces and nephews, Rasheeda Davis, Erica Guerrero, Leslie Davis, Terence Booker, Patrick Cook, Chance Ardoin, Devin Cook, and Savannah Ardoin; god child, LaQuisha Broussard and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Davis' services have been entrusted to Proctor's Mortuary (Locations in Anahuac, Beaumont, Silsbee and Woodville, TX.) .

Morris

Judine Morris 69 of Liberty (Ames) died Sept. 25, 2016.

Services are Sept. 29, 2016 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church 101 Donatto Street, Liberty (Ames), Texas. Visitation will begin at 9AM until Rosary at 10AM. Funeral will begin at 11AM. Interment will be in Our Mother of Mercy cemetery, Ames, TX.

Judine was a single mom of One child, Isaac Morris. In her life span, she was a hard worker working 2 jobs to make ends meet. She faced and overcame many battles in her life, one being breast cancer.

She Will be missed, loved and always remembered by her son, daughter in law, 3 grand kids, great grandson, family and friends.

Ms. Morris' services have been entrusted to Proctor's Mortuary (Locations in Anahuac, Beaumont, Silsbee and Woodville, TX.) .
