Graham

Teresa Lea Graham, 69, of Dayton died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her home.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016 at First Assembly of God Church, Dayton with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Taylor, Kevin Matthews, Paul Jackson, John Kamara, Mike Flloyd, and Donovan Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are J.D. King and Chrissy Middleton. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Teresa was born December 9, 1946 in Liberty, Texas to parents, Walter Lee Taylor and Pheroby Flower Taylor. She was a 1965 graduate of Hull Daisetta High School and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Having a love for singing she was a member of the The Gospel Lights singing group. Teresa loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading.

Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by her father, Walter Lee Taylor; her mother, Pheroby Flower Tilton; and infant son, Anthony Dale Graham. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Billy Dale Graham of Dayton; daughters, Daleah Graham Jackson and husband Paul of Kenefick and Valetia Graham Matthews and husband Kevin of Baytown; brother, Walter Edward Taylor and wife Sarah of Liberty; grandchildren, Chrissy Middleton and fiancé Mike Floyd, Kelsea Rogers and husband Donovan, Kaylee King, and Jace Daniel King; great-grandchildren, Kaci Rogers and Noah Rogers; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bearden

Peggy Lynell Bearden age 64, died Sunday August 21, 2016 in Orange, Texas.

Peggy was born in Liberty, Texas August 8, 1942 the daughter of the late Marvin Walters and Lottie Duhon Walters. Peggy devoted her life to the care and well-being of children for over forty-one years. She worked for twenty years for Harris County Adult Probation at Burnett-Bayland Home for Children. There she was able to help thousands of children from ages 6-18 know they could be cared for and loved. She also worked for Hardin ISD at the High School as a Nurse’s Assistant for numerous years as well as worked with the special needs children with the Hardin School system. Peggy also worked on the Primary Staff at First Baptist Church of Dallas. In her later years she has been the primary care giver to her grandson who requires around the clock care. Her impact on children throughout the years was profound in the life of those she cared for. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her son Michael Bearden Jr., daughter Candace Nicole Bearden, brother Dennis Webster “Rusty” Walters, and two sisters Genette Elise Walters and Geneva Maxine Walters.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband of forty-six years Michael Bearden, son Matthew Paul Bearden, daughter Wendy Michelle Bearden, sisters: Virginia Walters; Judene Crocker; and Patty Roberts; Brothers: Marvin Walters; Marshall Walters; Robert Walters; and Randy Walters. She also leaves her eight grandchildren: Justin Smith; Jared Smith; Jonathan Smith; Jaden Smith; Holden Bearden; Max Bearden; Annaleise Bearden; and Brian Bearden. In addition Peggy leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation for Peggy will be held Friday August 26, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575. Funeral Services will be held 10AM Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Moss Hill cemetery.

Nelson

Andrew L. (Bill) Nelson, age 89 of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, August 21, 2016.

He was born August 24, 1926 in Mt. Calm, Texas to parents John Bradley and Florence Elizabeth Nelson who preceded him in death along with his brother, Ralph Nelson.

Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Lendy Nelson; daughters, Janice Mizell and husband Lonnie, Kathy Furlong and husband Jonathan; son, Andy Nelson and wife Cristina; grandchildren, Bradley, Braxton and Kelly Furlong, Cris and Andrew Nelson; brothers, JB Nelson, Jack Nelson and Tom Nelson; sisters, Mary Hawn and Sue Trice; numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Nelson was a graduate of Abilene Christian College and later received his Masters and Counselors Degree from Sam Houston State Univ. He was married in 1954 to Lendy Bohannon. He began his teaching career in Lott, TX in 1953 where he taught for three years. He then moved to Tarkington ISD where he has worked as: Elementary Principal, Counselor, Jr. High Coach, Teacher and Principal, and High School Principal, Coach and Counselor for 40 years.

The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery, Tarkington Prairie, Texas. Trousdale

Paulyne Clegg Trousdale, 83, of Dayton, Texas died Saturday, August 20, 2016.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2016. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Trousdale officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery.

Mrs. Trousdale was born January 20, 1933 in New Hope, Texas to parent Chester Clegg and Audrey White Clegg. She attended Dayton High School and the University of Houston. Paulyne had worked for Kennedy Insurance Agency and was a member the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting, cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Clegg; mother, Audrey White Rogers; husband, Wiley M. Trousdale, Jr.; son, Dale Trousdale; brothers, Charles Rogers, Lynn Rogers, and Thomas Clegg; sister, Barbara Lorriane and grandson, Douglas Hanchey.

Paulyne is survived by daughters, Ellen Ayers and fiancé Jerry Panas of Dayton and Margaret Hanchey and husband Ray of Mittie, Louisiana; daughter-in-law, Teresa Trousdale; brothers, Paul Rogers and wife Kitty of Dayton,; sister, Ava Pleggenkuhle of Kingwood; grandchildren, Laura Case and husband Jason, Jennifer Chatlin, Wiley Trousdale and wife Shelley, Curtis Trousdale and wife Danyell, Amanda McBride and husband Clay, Hope Tillman and Fiance Eric Procter, Bo Hanchey and wife Jaimy, and Chris Trousdale and wife Ali; nineteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Massey

Michael Ray Massey, Sr., 60, of Dayton, Texas died Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Baytown, Texas

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton.

Mr. Massey was born September 25, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to parent James William Massey and Dorothy Jewel Gates Massey. He attended McCollum High School and had lived in the Dayton area since 2005. Mike was a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed cards, woodworking, traveling, camping, prospecting, and his yard. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tim, and sister Julie. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna J. Riley Massey of Dayton; son, Mike R. Massey, Jr and wife Connie of Dayton; daughters, Susan Harrison and husband chuck of New Caney, Bobbie Nounes and husband Jason of Dayton and Erin Massey of Dayton; grandchildren: Colton, Cayden, Dustin, Travis, Ethan, Riley, and Laurie; brothers, Gary, Roger and Patrick; sisters, Diane, Jamie, and Vivian; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thornton

Ronald Lloyd Thornton, age 67 of Kenefick, died Friday August 19, 2016 in Conroe.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday August 23, 2016 at French cemetery under the direction of Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Ronald was born August 16, 1949 to his parents, Lloyd “Skeet” and Francis Ann Jordan Thornton in Dayton, a lifelong resident of the Dayton/Kenefick area and attended school in Dayton. He was a veteran of the United States Army during Vietnam, and was a pipefitter in petro-chemical industry.

Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd “Skeet” Thornton.

Ronald is survived by his mother, Francis Thornton of Kenefick; daughters, Kerrie Thornton of Missouri and Sherrie Thornton of Austin, TX; brothers, Perry Thornton and wife Becky of Kenefick, and Reginald “Tootie” Thornton and wife Charlotte of Kenefick; sisters, Regina Norris of Dayton, Peggy Ilene Dobbs of Baycliff, TX; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews, too numerous to count.

Jameson

Royce Ray Jameson age 74 died Thursday August 18, 2016 in Humble, Texas.

Royce was born in Roxton, Texas October 16, 1941 the son of the late Walter Ray Jameson and Iva Thomas Jameson. Royce enjoyed gardening and fishing. He also enjoyed sitting on the porch and enjoying the outdoors. Royce served in the US Navy from 1960-1964 aboard the USS Hancock as an electricians mate. He worked for over thirty years for Lowe’s and Ace Hardware. Customers would ask for Royce and seek out his advice on projects. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons: Robert Jameson wife Lana, Walter Jameson wife Regina, and Michael Jameson wife Samantha. In addition he leaves his sister Juanita Roseberry, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 2:15 P.M. Wednesday August 24, 2016 at Houston National cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Royce’s memory to: Wreaths Across America at https://waahouston.com. A memorial service will be held 6:30 P.M. Thursday August 25, 2016 at First United Methodist Church 600 S. Buffalo St. Canton, Texas 75103.

Stevens

Gary Owen Stevens, 64, of Dayton, Texas, died August 16, 2016 in Baytown, Texas.

Celebration of his life will be held on August 20, 2016 at noon at his residence in Dayton, Texas. As per his wishes his door will be open all day. Please join us as we honor dad’s life.

Gary was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 17, 1952 to Gerald and Leona Stevens. He was a veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.

Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Leona Yancey and father, Gerald Stevens.

Gary is survived by his son Paul Stevens of Dayton, Texas. His daughter Sheree Holland and husband Adam Holland of Nacogdoches, Texas and their four children; Elijah, Zane, Makenzie, and Addison. As well as daughter Angela Ryan and her son Liam Ryan of Hagerstown, Maryland. He leaves behind five siblings John Stevens of Dayton, Texas, Jeannie Davis and husband Billy Davis of Joaquin, Texas, Sheryl Hamilton of Huntington, Texas, Mark Martin of Dayton, Texas, and Milton Martin and wife Rhonda Martin of Dayton, Texas. He also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews.

Gary always believed that your word was worth more than the money in your pocket and a hand shake sealed the deal. He loved God, his family, and his country. He was a true Patriot.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Wallen

Mack Randall Wallen, 76, of Dayton died Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Sherman.

Services for Mr. Wallen will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Blackburn officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Masonic cemetery in Del Rio, Texas.

Mack was born August 17, 1940 in Del Rio, Texas to parents, Michael and Cora Helen Chastain Wallen. He attended Del Rio High School and received an associate degree from San Jacinto College. He served in the US Navy and retired from Lubrizol Corp. Mack moved to Dayton in 1971 and was previously of Deer Park. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Don L. Wallen and his wife of 54 years, Mary “Ellen” Humphreys Wallen. He is survived by sons, Mark R. Wallen of Cleburne and Donald W. Wallen and wife Debra of Dayton; daughter, Lori A. Cohoon and husband Kevin of California; sister Peggy Love of Johnson City; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Woodell

Fred Benjamin Woodell, 81, of Dayton died Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Liberty.

Mr. Woodell was born January 9, 1935 in Jasper, Texas to parents Fred Mitchell Woodell and Tenie Vera Hancock Woodell. He was a lifelong resident of Jasper where he attended Jasper High School. Fred worked for Brown and Root, and was owner of a dry cleaners. He also enjoyed tractors, cattle and horses.

Service for Mr. Woodell will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at Pace-Stancil. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Trace and his brother Bob Woodell. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vickie Watts Woodell of Dayton; daughters, Sharon Gansky and husband Jerry of Dayton and Brenda Trujillo and husband Robert of Alvin; brother, Bud Woodell; sister, Bonnie and Em; grandchildren, Rachel, Keith, Tara, Christopher, Shaena, Russell, and Anthony; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Matthies

Thomas David Matthies, Sr., 74, of Dayton, Texas, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Houston, Texas.

He was born on May 4, 1942 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Daniel and Ivah Stratton Matthies, the youngest of eight children. Thomas proudly honored his country by serving in the United States Army.

Thomas worked as a mill wright for Brown and Root and Hickman for several years. He loved to work and in his spare time, he would tinker around the house and he enjoyed gardening. Thomas and his wife Judy were members of Lake Houston United Methodist Church.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings Joann Mains, Kathryn Roach, Ellen May Wing, Dennis Matthies, James Matthies and Bill Matthies. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 38 years, Judy Larson Matthies; his children Terri Matthies of Houston, Tommy Matthies of Houston, Tim Matthies and wife Dagney of Colorado and David Matthies and wife Elaine of Baytown; his grandsons Josh Matthies AME1 USN, DJ Matthies and wife Kristen, Dustin Matthies, Dawson Matthies and Drew Matthies; his granddaughters Kady Matthies, Lisa Matthies Barnes and husband Cody, Cassie Richards, Amber Gonzales and husband Adam; his five great-grandchildren; his sister Linda Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 20, 2016 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home located at 602 North Main Street in Dayton.

Collier

James Perry Collier, 92, of Trinity, Texas died Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Conroe.

Mr. Collier was born in Wichita Fall, Texas to parents, John Perry Collier and Lois V. Enloe Collier. He served during World War II in the U. S. Army, was a machinist at Baker Hughes for over 44 years. He was a member of Park Place Masonic Lodge #1173 and the Daylight Lodge #1288. Perry enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Services are 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas. Visitation will be 12 noon until 2:00 p.m., Friday before the service. Interment will follow at French cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are David Collier, Nathan Collier, Louis Fingleman, Kenneth Barton, Joey Fingleman, Sonny Fingleman, Donnie Fingleman and honorary pallbearers are John Collier and Joe Collier.

Mr. Collier was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, David Reed Collier. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lois Christine Fingleman Collier of Trinity; son, John Edward Collier of Trinity; grandchildren, Joe Collier and Sherry Luce and husband Woody; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Tyler, and Memphis; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
