Terrell

Jimmie A. Robison Terrell, 89, of Dayton died Thursday, July 7, 2016 after an extended illness.

Service for Mrs. Terrell will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Finney officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Private burial will be at the Terrell cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.

Jimmie was born January 10, 1927 in Dayton, Texas to parents Jim Robison and Alma O. Green Robison. A lifelong resident of Dayton, she was a 1943 graduate of Dayton High School. Mrs. Terrell was well known for her yeast biscuits and tomato gravy. She worked hand in hand with her husband and brother-in-law building her home and was very proud of that. She enjoyed her family, friends and a good cup of coffee. Jimmie also like to garden and enjoy the outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 68years, Bennie Terrell, brothers, Lyndol Robison, Pat White and Betty Cole.

Mrs. Terrell is survived by daughter, Linda Jenkins and husband Marvin of Kenefick; son, Lazean Terrell of Baytown; brother, Joe Robison and wife Nancy of Dayton; sister, Bootsie Tanner and husband Alfred of Colorado; grandchildren, Patti Miles of Dayton, Heather Dengler and husband Bob of New York, Adam Terrell and wife Annette of Houston, Amanda Rodriguez and husband Ben of Highlands, and Allen Jenkins and wife Tisha of New Caney; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tobias

Sylvia Houston “Toby” Tobias, 76, of Channelview, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, in Pasadena.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services directed by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Toby was born March 30, 1940 in Marlin, a former resident of Houston, and resided in Channelview since 1966. He was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School, attended the University of Houston, was a veteran of the US Navy, former GE Electric employee, and retired as a computer programmer from the Harris County Tax Office. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bee keeping, leather work, gardening, and carpentry.

Mr. Tobias is preceded in death by his parents: Bonivar A. and Betty Matysiak Tobias. He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Shirley Martin Tobias of Channelview, son: Michael Tobias of Crosby, grandchildren: Ty, Kayla, and Austin Tobias, numerous other relatives and friends.

Wright

Rose Lee Wright, 93, of Manvel, Texas died peacefully on July 4, 2016 at her residence.

Visitation Services: Saturday, July 9, 2016, 10:00 am - 11:00 am, St. Paul Skipper Springs Missionary Baptist Church, 3945 Park Swain Road, Grand Junction, Tennessee.

Funeral Service will follow, Rev. Alge Terry is officiating.

Interment in St. Paul Skipper Spring cemetery, Grand Junction, Tennessee.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Valigura

Alma Ann Sliva Valigura, longtime resident of the Anahuac and Wallisville area, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Houston, Texas.

She was born on June 15, 1929 in East Bernard, Texas, to Adolph and Annie Pilcik Sliva. Alma was the ultimate family woman and her family was the center of her world. She had many hobbies some of which included crafting and woodworking. Alma worked as a savings and loan manager for many years in the banking industry and was also a seamstress.

Alma graduated from East Bernard High School, where she played volleyball. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Valigura; they were married for 64 years. Alma and Joseph belonged to the Catholic Church.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Melissa Valigura; and her brothers Ray and Leon Sliva. She is survived by her loving husband Joseph Valigura of Wallisville; her son Joe Valigura, Jr. and wife Linda of Wallisville; her granddaughter Tip Kromloy of Wallisville; and a host of extended family members and friends. Alma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, July 8, 2016 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home located at 1201 S. Main in Anahuac. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A graveside service and committal will immediately to follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Stephens

Lorena Stephens was born to the parents of Joseph and Nancy Wilson-Burrell of Liberty, TX.

She accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Liberty, TX. She later joined Mount Rose Baptist Church of Liberty, TX where she sang in the choir. Later, she moved to serve at Saint John Baptist Church where she served faithfully until she became sick and moved with her daughter in League City, TX where she continued to attend service at True Living Word Christian Church.

She received her formal education in the public school of Liberty, TX. She was a very special person who loved to shop, especially grocery shop, cook and serve others. She was strong, wise, loving, kind, hospitable and intelligent. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Her faith and love of God has always been her strength. She loved her family, church and friends. She was a well-established entrepreneur during the seventies when she founded, owned and operated the S&L Grill on Hwy 90 in Liberty, TX. This was a well-known Bar-B-Q Café’ where she made the best homemade link sausages in all the world. People came from far and near to get some of her hot homemade link sausages. Sister Stephens also worked for the Allison and Jordan families for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Joseph, Bryant and Gilmore Burrell and three sisters; Sue Willa Burrell-Gunner, Mitte Burrell-Waller and Rachel Burrell-Purnell, two daughters; Doris J. Cook and Carolyn J. Williams. She leaves to treasure her memories; her six children, sons; Eddie Burrell (Gloria) of Hardin, TX, Eugene Burrell of Forth Worth, TX, Earl Joe Stephens (DeWanda) of Crowley, TX and Michael Stephens of Liberty, TX, two daughters; Shirley Simons of Fort Worth, TX, and Rose Caballero (Patrick) of League City, TX, twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Lorena Stephens will be Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Trinity Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Wells cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2016 from 7pm to 8pm at St. Johns Baptist Church in Liberty.

Daniels

Verlene Daniels age 82 of Liberty died Thursday June 30, 2016 in Houston, Texas.

Verlene was born January 4, 1934 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana the daughter of the late Elbert Brit Burkett and Lela Winifred Pennington Burkett. A homemaker, Verlene most enjoyed her time spent with her family, especially the annual family vacations. She also enjoyed travelling; her adventures took her all over the world. Verlene’s other passion was for gardening. She also was actively involved in numerous clubs and organizations throughout Liberty.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her first husband Everett Darter, second husband Paul Daniels, granddaughter Christy May, grandson Bryan Darter, as well as seven brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son; E. Dale Darter and wife Patsy of Longview, Texas, Daughter; Connie Scharnberger and husband Armin of Germany, Son; Bruce A. Darter of Houston, sisters; Jean Windham and husband Jim of Houston and Maxine Pate of Pineland, Texas. She also leaves her seven grandchildren Carol Dobbins, Kevin Darter, Keith Darter, Gary Paul May, Taryn Darter, Blaine Darter, and Melissa Barroso. In addition she leaves eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services for Verlene will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday July 5, 2016 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial for Verlene will be held in Cooke Memorial cemetery.

Plank

Ruth Ann Plank “Granny”, age 68 of Cleveland, Texas, died Monday, June 27, 2016.

She was born April 18, 1948 in Bryan, Texas to parents Morris Shepherd and Milady Balcar Sample who preceded her in death along with her sister, Sharon Kay; and Honorary Son Jerimy Ellis.

Survivors include her husband, “Dick” Plank; sons, David “Shorty” Reynolds and wife Karitta, and Richard Plank; daughters, Susan Faulkner and husband Freddie, Kim Hickok-Bates and husband Jimmy, Jeanie James and husband Andy, Kristie Franco and husband Estevan; brothers, Morris Sample, Jr., Doug and Liz Sample, Tim and Bonnie Sample, Robert Sample, and David Sample; sister, Dorothy and Manuel Gomez; grandchildren, Justin Coats, Alyssa and Tiffany Faulkner, Lauren and Ashley Hickok, Alex, Connor and Jackson Bates, Dillion and Zack Weatherford, Jessie, David and Tommy James, Sophia and Abigail Franco; great-grandchildren, Brody, Kiptyn and Jerimy Coats; Honorary Son Robert “Buck” Bailey; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

Bittick

Thurston Maurice Bittick, 77 of Cleveland died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Kingwood, Texas.

Services for Mr. Bittick will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland with Rev. Danny Roberts officiating.

Mr. Bittick was born August 24, 1938 in Cleveland, Texas to parents, Henry Warren and Estell Godejohn Bittick. He had worked as a pipefitter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Alma and Benita, son Kevin Bittick and special friend Royce Coe. Thurston is survived by his wife, Ivonne Bittick; daughters, Kristie Bittick, Mistie Walker and husband Brian; sons, Travis Bittick and wife Debbie, and Leslie Bittick; grandchildren, Trista Savercool, Matthew Bittick, Hannah Bittick, Kaytlynn Duncan, Kody Duncan, Olivia Bittick, Bentley Walker, and Hagen Walker; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Landree.

Lee

Robert Ezra Lee of Moss Hill, died on Tuesday June 28, 2016 at his residence. He was 60.

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday July 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at The Lighthouse Church of Moss Hill, with Reverend Allen Owens, Reverend Toby Ratcliff and Reverend Cleve Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Moss Hill cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Caleb Blanchard, J.J. Villarreal, Josh Carson, Anthony Burnes, Wesley Hester, Michael Hester, Chris Booth, Roger Dowers, Lucus Ferguson and Samuel Ferguson.

Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Jake, Samuel, Ezra, and Aaron.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday June 30, 2016 from 5: 00 P.M.until 8:00 P.M. at The Lighthouse Church of Moss Hill.

A native of Hull, he had lived in Moss Hill, most of his life and was a Oilfield Supervisor for Texas Quality Well Service of Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reece Mancel Lee and Elber Fonteno Lee and grandson Isaac Seaman.

Survivors are his wife Patty Lee of Moss Hill, sons, Raymond Alford and wife Ta sha of Denham Springs, LA, Robert Lee of Moss Hill, and Roy Lee of Moss Hill. Daughters, Leanna Seaman and husband William of Kountze, Emilie Walters and husband Joey also of Kountze.

Brothers, Eugene Fonteno of Liberty, Lacy Lee and wife Shirley of Schwab City. Sisters, Margaret Hester of Batson, Margie Dowers and husband Doyle of Vidor, Joycelyn Hart and husband Jerry of Baytown. Mother-in-law, Susie Blanchard of Moss Hill.

Grandchildren are Gwen, Madison, Hannah, Jake, Rachel, Rebekah, Jillian, Samuel, Meah, Rowan, Ezra, Aaron, and Donni, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. 40847 Hwy 105E. Batson, Texas 77519. .

Theriot

Leroy Joseph Theriot Sr. age 90 died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at his home in Dayton with his family by his side.

He was born December 17, 1925 in Morgan City, Louisiana to the late Telesphore Theriot and Bernadette Deslatte Theriot. He retired as an electrician with Ethel Corporation. He was involved in AA for over 50 years, the Knights of Columbus, and a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Eastgate. In his spare time he was a man of many talents. From wood working, to gardening, to just spending time with his family and friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Evelyn, his parents as well as his sons: Johnny Theriot, Mark Theriot, Leroy Theriot Jr., and Tommy Theriot; Grandson: Mark Theriot Jr. and Jeffrey Christopher Theriot; Great-Grandson: Christopher Jay Rash; daughters-in-law: Terri Lee Theriot and Belinda Gail Theriot, Brothers: Milton Theriot, Walter Theriot, and George Theriot; sisters: Irene Ladd and Rita Caswell.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories brother: Joe Theriot; Sons: Michael Theriot and wife Caryl, Paul Theriot, Terry Theriot and wife Starla, and Rusty Theriot; Daughters: Bonnie McKinney and husband J.B., Angela Tanner and husband David, and Annette Simmons. In addition he leaves a host of nieces and nephews thirty grandchildren, fifty-nine great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Leroy has touched many lives in his life time and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

Visitation for Leroy will be held Friday July 1, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10AM Saturday July 2, 2016 at St. Joseph’s The Worker Catholic Church Dayton, Texas. Burial to be held in St. Anne’s Catholic cemetery. The Theriot family would like to extend their gratitude to the following gentlemen for serving as pallbearers: Michael Theriot, Justin Theriot, Joey Theriot, Josh Brown, Curtis McKinney, and Andrew Simmons.

Hanson

Janette Morgan Hanson, 74, of Dayton, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at her residence.

Memorial services will be scheduled for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Janette was born September 8, 1941 in Bryan, to parents; William and Julia Flanagan Morgan, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in Dayton since 1983. She was a former teller for Prosperity Bank of Dayton. She also enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, swimming, fishing, travel, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Hanson was preceded in death by her father: William Morgan, husband: Jack Hanson, sons: Jack and Robert Hanson, sister: Peggy Bedford, and grandson: William Hotaling. She is survived by her daughter: Janetha Hotaling of Dayton, mother: Julia Flanagan Morgan of Delaware, sister: Nancy Copeland of Delaware, granddaughter: Jamielynn Hotaling, great-grandchildren: Heath Baker, Channing Baker, and Wyatt Baker, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
