Doug Earl Ellis of Port Arthur, died on Saturday May 21, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 60.
Doug was born March 9, 1956 in Port Arthur, to Albert Ellis and Marjorie Rushing Eliis. A life long resident of Port Arthur, he was a carpenter with Pepper-Lawson Industries of Houston, and was Lutheran by faith.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Elva Renee Ellis and his parents, Albert and Marjorie Ellis.
Survivors are his wife, Vanessa Ellis of Beaumont; mother in law, Elva Burlin of Beaumont. Brother, Gary Zelsdorff and wife Lynn of Mont. Belvieu, and sister, Linda Sue Zelsdorff of Port Arthur.
Nephews are Steven Zelsdorff and wife Ashlee of Baytown, Jody Burlin of Mauriceville, Gary Zelsdorff and wife Lynn of Mont. Belvieu, Lowell Burgtort and wife Joanna of Shattuck, OK, Chet Burgtort of Springfield, MO, and Marshall Burgtort and wife Tabitha of Lafayette, CO.
Nieces are Tiffany Marshall and husband Jonathan of Beaumont, Norma Zelsdorff Becerra and husband Jose of Port Arthur, Elissa Lofgren and husband Chad of Mount Belvieu and Kaely Zelsdorff of Mount Belvieu and other numerous great nephews and great nieces.
Serving as pallbearers are Jose Becerra, Steven Zelsdorff, Jody Burlin, Elmer Ashcraft and Jim Catnach.
Service of remembrance was held on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 11:00A.M. at Guedry cemetery of Batson.

Campbell
Carol Annette Powell Campbell age 68 died Sunday May 22, 2016 in Humble, Texas.
Carol was born September 24, 1947 the daughter of the late Ray Raymond Powell and Peggy Joyce Whittington Powell. Carol enjoyed being outside in the sun and caring for her beloved German Shepard. She retired after many years of service as a Legal Assistant for Liberty County Attorney Jack Hartel.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Carroll R. Campbell and a sister Judy Henry.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister-in-law Mary Anne Campbell, nephew Bruce Campbell, niece Andrea Campbell, nephew Jim Litton and wife Jeanie, niece Jeanna Keys husband Charles, niece Joni Keaton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Carol will be held Tuesday May 24, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral services to be held 10AM Wednesday May 25, 2016 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Cooke Memorial cemetery. Kociban
Carolyn Mary Kociban 94, of Hankmer, Texas died May 20, 2016.
Carolyn was born on December 14, 1921 and raised in Staten Island, New York. She worked as a legal secretary for many years. Some of her many talents were sign language, short hand, and drawing. Her happiest moments were being part of the church, crocheting, cross stitching, showing dogs in dog shows, crafts and most of all spending time with her family. She enjoyed several years of RV travel with her loving husband and dogs before settling in Hankamer, Texas. She was a beautiful, strong, loving, compassionate and intelligent woman. Her example of womanhood is what all women should emulate. Her love for the Lord has influenced many. She touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be extremely missed.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Alvina Baumlin. husband John Kociban, brothers David, William and Paul, sister, Ruth.
She is survived by her son Jeff Kociban and wife Margot. Grandchildren; Marianna Allison and husband Darrin, Erik Enders and wife Jennifer, Arielle Allmon and husband Boliver and Justin Kociban. Great Grandchildren; Ryan, Mikaela and Gavin Allison, Kristopher and Iziah Enders, Grace Allmon and many other family and friends.
A visitation and service for family and friends will be held on Monday May 23, 2016 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas. Visitation will be held at 5 P.M.-7 P.M., Services will start 7 P.M.. Officiated by Pastor David East.

Edward Howard Thompson, 87, of Romayor, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Cleveland Memorial Park cemetery in Cleveland. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.
Edward was born February 20, 1929 in Center, to parents; Roy L. and Jenny V. May Thompson, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Romayor for the past 34 years. He was a retired truck driver and Baptist by faith. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, fishing, spending time with his family, and will be remembered as a loving husband.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Sylvia Odehnal Thompson, brothers: Bill W. Thompson, Theo Thompson, Leroy Thompson, Carl B. Thompson, Kelly Thompson, and Ted Thompson, and sisters: Bennie Sanford, Bonnie Nash, Betty Jo Barron, and Mary Beth Martin. Georgia Lee Clark Brown, 83, of Coldspring, died Saturday, May 14, 2016, at The Bradford @ Brookside, in Livingston.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., May 17, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Coldspring. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., May 19, 2016, at the Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery in San Antonio. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldspring.
Georgia was born September 9, 1932 in Daphne, Alabama, to Alvin W. and Minnie Davison Clark.
She was a military wife who lived all over the world settling with her husband in Coldspring in 1987.
She was a graduate of Daphne High School and a homemaker.
She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: James L. Brown, Jr. and their grandson Roger Hendrix Brown.
She is survived by her children Ronnie Lee Brown, Connie Brown Leman and husband Kevin of San Antonio, James Ricky Brown and his wife Vera of Coldspring, Robert Alan Brown and his wife Terry of Friendswood, Roger Dean Brown, Christy Brown Smith and husband David of Texas City, and Cheryl Leslie Brown Wegner and Chuck Bailey of Tennessee, her sister Mazie Clark-Hanson of Alabama, and sister in law, Joyce Clark of Spanish Fort, Alabama, and brother in law Dickie Brown and his wife Margret of Jeanerette, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She leaves the loves of her life, her grandchildren: James Ricky Brown Jr, Jeremy Alan Brown, Todd Robert Brown, Amber Brown, Jennifer Kara Messina Leman, Cory Scott Leman, Jayme Ann Smith, Chelsea Lynn Brown, Ryan Matthew Smith, Leslie Taylor Wegner, Carly Ann Brown, Jeffrey James Wegner, Emily Dawn Brown and Elizabeth Grace Brown.
Great grandchildren include Avleigh Mann, Ethan Scott Leman, Maelie Parker Brown, Olivia Leman Leaverton, Annabelle Leman Leaverton, Eli James Leman, Raelynn Jane Reser, Bethany Diane Leman and a sweet baby on the way.
Herrington
Johnnie Merle Herrington, age 78 of Hardin, died in Beaumont, TX on May 15, 2016.
Johnnie was born April 6, 1938 in Montgomery, TX daughter of the late James Henry and Viola Bailey Nichols. She graduated from Hardin High School and was a housewife all of her life. Johnnie loved to cook and was famous for her fudge, banana pudding and her peach cobbler which was also known as “yellow stuff”. While at her church, you saw Johnnie helping and waiting on the elderly people as well as cooking at the church. Johnnie loved her grandchildren and made a point to spoil them.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter; Pat Regen, brothers; David, Melvin and Cecil Nichols, sisters; Shirley Kucera, Ruby Stovall, Pauline Chisum, Ruth Underwood and Baby Nichols. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband; James Herrington Sr of Hardin, sons; James Herrington Jr of Tarkington, David Largent of Tarkington, William Largent of Hardin, daughter; Laquita Williams and husband Bruce of Kountze, TX, son-in-law; Jodi Regen of Liberty, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren.

Broussard
Homer Syivester Broussard was born on December 29, 1935 in Liberty, Texas to proud parents Edward and Carrie Broussard.
He received his primary education in Liberty. Homer accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas until his health declined.
God placed the love of his life, Bertha Lee Rubit, to be his help mate and the two became one on June 13, 1955. Over the past 60 years they raised a family together in a loving Godly home. Homer worked vigorously providing for his family with the Rail Road before joining Brown and Root were he retired in 1989.
Homer had a quiet spirit, was a man of few words. As a young man he played baseball and always enjoyed watching sports. He loved to fish and shared his passion teaching his children and grandchildren to fish. Homer loved to travel, taking to the open road sharing the wonder of God’s country making memories with the family.
At 7:30 pm on Friday, May 13, 2016 God called Homer Broussard home to a new life in glory. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Selena Marie Broussard, his granddaughter Daphne Marie Webb, brothers: Melvin, Andrew, Edward, Jr., James, Alvin, Daniel, and Nathan Broussard, and sisters: Juanita Siner and Thelma Broussard.
Homer’s Homegoing Celebration will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 101 Donatto Drive in Ames, Texas. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. the Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 60 years Bertha Lee Broussard, his five children: Dianna Webb and husband Derrick, Rick Broussard and wife Zina, Sherman Broussard, David Broussard and Rhonda Broussard-Holmes. Granville M. “Buddy” Shanks, 86, of Winnsboro, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Winnsboro.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Linney cemetery in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Granville was born June 14, 1929, in Dayton, to parents; Richard E. and Thelma Lee Fingleman Shanks, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Winnsboro for the past five years. He was a graduate of Dayton High School, a retired truck driver, and a rancher. He also enjoyed working cattle, fishing, and traveling.
Mr. Shanks was preceded in death by his parents and sons: Richard E. Shanks and Francis M. Shanks. He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Margaret Bozeman Shanks of Winnsboro, sister: Katherine Martin of Dayton, grandchildren: Richard Shanks, Ernest Shanks, Granville D. Shanks, and Kimberly A. Shanks, great-grandson: Travis W. Shanks, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
Cook
Aaron Pierce Cook age 62 died Wednesday May 11, 2016 in Humble, Texas.
Aaron was born November 20, 1953 in Texarkana, Arkansas, the son of the late Clyde Lee Cook Sr. and Betty Jo Massey Cook.
Aaron was a very patriotic and loving man. Nothing meant more to him than his family and his country.
A man of strong faith in God, he truly had a servant’s heart and led by example. Aaron loved the outdoors; you could find him sitting outside every evening watching the sun set over his beautifully manicured yard. He also enjoyed photography and playing golf. Aaron was patient and calm, and he was always there to reassure his girls.
Aaron never missed a chance to attend a sporting event for the Liberty Panthers or the Baylor Bears.
He was an outstanding athlete who excelled in baseball, football, and track.
Through his athletics, he received a scholarship to play baseball for the University of Arkansas.
He later went on to attend Ouachita Baptist University, where he played football and ran track.
He retired from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company with over thirty-five years of service.
Aaron was a member of the First Baptist Church and the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his father Clyde Lee Cook Sr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of twenty-four years Beth Cook of Liberty, daughters Lauren Cook and Madison Cook both of Waco, TX., his mother Betty Jo Massey Cook of Little Rock, Ark., brother Clyde Lee Cook Jr. of North Little Rock, Ark., sister Penny Lynn Cook Garnette and husband Tim of Baltimore, OH., sister Pamela Jo Cook Schwarz and husband Scott of Pearland, Texas. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation for Aaron will be held Sunday May 15, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Liberty. Funeral services for Aaron will be held 3 P.M. Monday May 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Liberty with burial to follow in Cooke Memorial cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Aaron’s memory to the American Heart Association.
