L.T. Fregia 92 of Batson, died Wednesday February 24, 2016 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday February 29, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Herman Moor officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Dale cemetery in Daisetta.

Serving as pallbearers are Harvey Taylor, David Taylor, Bill Sims, Clifford Fregia, Gary Fregia, and Mike Fregia.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday February 28, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

He was born July 28, 1923 to Leo Fregia and JoAnna Fregia in Hull, and was a lifelong residence of Hull. He had worked as a Roustabout in the Oilfielf Industry for many years. He was a member First Baptist Church of Hull.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Elvira Sims, Katherine Taylor Pastorick, and Ruby Edmonds. Brothers, Vivian Fregia, Alvin Fregia, and Clarence Fregia.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Claudine Fregia of Daisetta, and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of caring and loving friends who will miss him very much.

Howard

Rebecca Kay Howard, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Baytown, Texas.

She was born on May 27, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to John and Billy Jean Clements Higgins. Rebecca had many hobbies some of which included her love for Stevie Ray Vaughan, her cats, eating Mexican food, collecting decorative owls and trying her luck in the casinos but most of all she loved being a mother grandmother. She was known as a loving, caring, kind and generous, never turning anyone away, yet feisty and adventurous person who always spoke her mind. Some would say if you ever crossed her, she would whip you like a redheaded stepchild. Rebecca never met a stranger; she loved to talk to anyone and was a friend to everyone. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rebecca graduated from high school in Little Rock and later relocated with her mother to the Kemah area. After she married her loving husband, Hugh E. Howard, Dayton, Texas became her home. She and Hugh loved to shop the flea markets, take rides his on Harley and even attend bike rallies. Rebecca worked in the local fish market in Liberty for many years and retired after 20 years with the United States Postal Service as a Postal Carrier in the Dayton area. She was a wise woman who was always very organized.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and granddaughter. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son John and wife Robin; her daughters, Lisa Pavlich and husband John, Donna Norman and husband David and Helen “Sissy” Cronin; her grandchildren, Lauren, Elizabeth, Amanda and Brittany Howard, JJ and Shane Perkins and Erica Hassien; her great-grandchildren, Kyli Howard, Landen Marchant, Taylah Smith, Raegann, Jayden and Ava Perkins; her siblings, John “Tommy” Higgins and wife Kathleen, Delores Rosson, Debbie Gray and husband Josh, Lynda Johnson and husband Robert and Larry Logsdon and wife Sherri; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4pm until 8pm on Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home located at 602 North Main Street in Dayton. A graveside service and committal will be held at 2pm on Monday, February 29, 2016 in Palms Memorial Park, 2421 Highway 146, Dayton.

Scott

Mary Susan Ammons, nee Scott, of Dayton died, Friday February 26, in Baytown, Harris County, Texas at 67 years of age. Services for Mrs. Ammons will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday March 1, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Officiating will be Reverend Mike Blackburn & Reverend Stephen Ammons. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery. Pallbearers are; Bret Leatherwood, Patrick White, Carl Kennedy, Aaron Kennedy, Matthew Scott, Joe Maberry, Ethan Maberry, Brad Poland. Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Maberry, Michael Kennedy, David White, Haley Leatherwood and Trinity Baptist Church Mission Team. Visitation will be Monday February 29, 2016 at Pace Stancil Dayton from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M..

Mary was born July 12, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas to her parents: Charles Homer and Billie Jo Elliff Scott. Mrs. Ammons taught in Channelview ISD for many years before her retirement. Mary was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton and was very active with the Mission Team. She had opportunity to serve on the mission field several times through the years. Mrs. Ammons was one of the founders of Trinity’s Community Wide Thanksgiving feast, she loved knowing that everyone would have a place at a table during this special time. Mary loved people especially youth and developed wonderful relationships with many of the young people with whom she worked. She also loved to crochet and made beautiful pieces for her home, as well as to share. Mary will be greatly missed by those who were privileged to know and love her.

Mrs. Ammons is preceded in death by her parents; Billie Jo Scott and Charles Homer Scott.

Mary is survived by her husband, Ron Ammons; Daughter, Sara Ammons Maberry and husband, Joe; Sons, Charlie Ammons and Reverend Stephen Ammons and wife Tammie; Sisters, Cheryl White and Charlene Scott; Brothers, Charles and Michael Scott; Grandchildren Ethan Maberry, Tabitha Maberry, Joseph Maberry, Abigale Ammons and Rebekah Ammons.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church Community Wide Thanksgiving fund.

Harrison

Madge Marie Harrison, age 85 of Ames, died at her residence peacefully with her loving family by her side.

Madge was born February 2, 1931 in Liberty, daughter of the late Michael Sam Wickliff and Beaulah Mallett Wickliff. She worked for the Liberty Independent School District in Liberty for forty years before retiring. Madge was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all.

Madge was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur Lee Harrison Jr, son; Kenneth Ray Harrison, brothers; Donald Wickliff, Charles Wickliff and sister; Jeanette McGee. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters; Altonette Harrison of Ames, Floretta Reescano and husband Jerry of Houston, sons; Arthur Harrison III and wife Elizabeth of Raywood, Michael Harrison and wife Gayle of Daisetta, Daryl Harrison of Ames, Dale Harrison of Ames, Dominick Harrison and wife Audrey of Ames, brother; Sylvester Wickliff of Liberty, sister; Frances Thibodeaux and husband Hubert of China, thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Services for Madge Marie Harrison will be Wednesday, March 2, 2106 at 11am at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with burial to follow at Palms Memorial cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service from 9am to 11am with the rosary beginning at 10:30am.

Taylor

Mercedes R. Deshotels Taylor, 82, of Dayton, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at her residence.

Memorial graveside services will be held at later date, at the Houston National cemetery in Houston. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mercedes was born September 30, 1933 in Eunice, Louisiana, to parents; Oneil and Ella Fuselier Deshotels, and is a former resident of Friendswood. She was a homemaker and Catholic by faith. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and sewing.

Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, son: Baby Boy Savoy, and sister: Helen Coyle. She is survived by her husband: Clarence J. “Dutch” Taylor of Dayton, brother: Weston Deshotels of Beaumont, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pastorick

Katherine Fregia Taylor Pastorick of Batson, Texas died Tuesday February 23, 2016 at Fairy's Landing Residential Personal Care Center in Hull. She was 85.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday February 29, 2016 at 11:00A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Frank Aragon officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday February 28, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

Katherine was born September 6, 1930 in Hull, to Leo Fregia and Joanna Fregia. She had lived in Batson, most of her life and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rothel Avery Taylor, her second husband Frank Pastorick. Daughter, Dianna Fenton, brothers, Vivian Fregia, Alvin Fregia, and Clarence Fregia. Sisters, Elvira Sims, and Ruby Edmonds.

Survivors are sons, Harvey Taylor and wife Dennee, of Batson, David Taylor and wife Cynthia of Batson. Daughters, Angela Taylor of Benson AZ, and Mary Taylor of Batson. Brother, L.T. Fregia of Hull, and close nephew Bill Sims of Houston, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Fenton, Brian Fenton, Chris Fenton, David Fenton, Justen Taylor, Snapper Castilaw, Rance Taylor and Dusty Taylor.

Loftin

Elberta Kervin Loftin of Thicket, died on Monday February 22, 2016 at her daughter's residence in Santa Fe, surrounded by her family. She was 89.

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday February 26, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Michael Don Loftin and Reverend Kevin Garber officiating. Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday February 25, 2016 fro 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

She was born April 21, 1926 in Polk County to Arthur Kervin and Donia Collins. She had lived in Thicket, most of her life and was Baptist by faith. She had worked as a Office Manager for many years.

Elberta was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Ray Loftin, and sister Marie Bell. She is survived by her son, Charles Ray Loftin and wife Robbie of Pearland. Daughter, Thelda "Anita Lile of Santa Fe, TX. Brothers, Wilburn Kervin and wife Tina of Zavalla, and Raymond Kervin and wife Cheryl of Beaumont. Sister, Billie Jean Tomlinson and husband Pee Wee of Saratoga.

Grandchildren are Sandra, Laura, LaDawn, Tyler and Justin. Great grandchildren are Colby, Ashley, Hunter, Reese, Aaron, Kaylee, Alyssa, Taylor, Bailey, Mason, Krysta and Alina. Great - Great grandchildren are Bryce, Finley, Emma, Adalyn. Step grandchildren are Melissa and Cathyrn. Step great grandchildren are Max and Mason.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Loftin, Tyler Loftin, Hunter Burch, Colby Burch, Nick Cocker, and Aaron Schaepher. Honorary pallbearers are Reese Burch, Mason Garber, and Bryce Coker.

Mehl

Ethel Mae Clark Mehl of Batson, Texas, died on Friday February 19, 2016 at Magnolia Place Health Care of Liberty.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday February 27, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services with Reverend Herman Callais and Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Hashaw, Jason Smith, Brent Mosley, Corrie Mosley, David Mehl and John Meche

The family will be receiving friends on Friday February 26, 2016 also at Faith & Family from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M..

Ethel was born August 11, 1922 in Trinity, TX to Henry Alford Clark and Rosa Lee King. She was a self employed Oilfield Operator for Mosley Enterprise, Inc. She also worked on airplanes for Howard Hughes.

She lived in the Batson community since 1938 and attended the First Baptist Church of Batson as a sunday school teacher.

Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clark and Rosa King, son, Larry Mosley, first husband John W. Mosley and a brother, J.W. Mosley.

She is survived by her husband Fred Mehl of Batson., son, Randy Mosley and wife Jeanette of Batson, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Williams

Louise Williams of North Moss Hill, died on Thursday February 18, 2016 at Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center. She was 76.

Evelyn was born March 3, 1939 in Thomaston, Texas, to parents Clyde Alonzo Williams and Evelyn Ray Morrow.

She lived in the Liberty County area for many years where she was a sales clerk for Baskins in Liberty she was also known fondly for many years as the hat lady. She attended the Rebekka Baptist Church of North Moss Hill.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Ray Morrow Williams and brothers, Kenneth Williams and Wayne Williams.

She is survived by her father, Clyde Williams of North Moss Hill., sons, Gary Cain and wife Susan of Moss Hill and Randy Cain and wife Debbie also of Moss Hill.

Daughter, Candy Steele and husband Lemuel of Tarkington, Prairie. Sisters, Jean Durnay of North Moss Hill and Carolyn Whitehead of North Moss Hill. Special and longtime friend Bowen Cain of Moss Hill. grandchildren, 7 and great grandchildren 10.

Janik

Margaret Anna Marek Janik, lifelong resident of Crosby, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Kingwood, Texas.

One of fifteen children, she was born on December 13, 1920 in Crosby, Texas, to Charles and Anna Gerik Marek. Margaret was the ultimate family woman and her children were the center of her world. She had many hobbies some of which included knitting and crochet, flower gardening, dancing, playing dominos and cards. But most of all she enjoyed staying true to her roots and making kolaches.

On November 23, 1936 Margaret married Willie Janik and they started building their family together in Crosby. She was a homemaker until 1959 when she began working as a waitress at Hilliard’s Café, where she worked for eleven years. Margaret was a member of the Crosby Brethren Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Church Christian Sisters.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband of forty-nine years, Willie Janik; her daughter, Edith Evelyn Janik; her granddaughter, Ginger Rae Janik; and her fourteen siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Bernice Pavlat and husband Steve; her son Willie L. Janik and wife Deanna; her seven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and numerous extended family members and friends. Margaret will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm until 8pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home located at 602 N. Main in Dayton. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Crosby Brethren Church, 5202 First Street, Crosby, Texas. A graveside service and committal will immediately to follow in Chapel of the Pines cemetery in Crosby.
