Martin

Lloyd Martin, 89, of Dayton, died Thursday, October 15, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lloyd was born October 1, 1926 in Manville, to parents; William C. and Emma C. Kennard Martin, and a lifelong resident of Dayton. He attended Liberty High School, was a veteran of the US Army, and was owner/operator of the Western Auto of Dayton. He held memberships in the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post #5621 and the First United Methodist Church of Dayton. He also enjoyed dog and horse races, hunting, and fishing.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law: Ed and Annie Navratil, brothers: Billy, Burnell, and Bob Martin, and sisters: Wilma McCarty and Hazel Barrow. He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Dorothy Navratil Martin of Dayton, daughter: Shari Ripkowski and husband John of Dayton, sons: Bill Martin of Tyler and Mike Scott and wife Cindy of Dayton, grandchildren: Cory Ripkowski and wife Julie, Shelley Armstrong and husband Jim Ray, Annie Roberts and husband Blake, and Katie Scott, great-grandchildren: Cameron Ripkowski, Reed Armstrong, Grace Armstrong, and Elijah Roberts, sister-in-law: Lucille Martin, his buddies: M.J., Joey, and Lady, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

For those who desire, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church at 106 S. Cleveland, Dayton, Texas 77535, in Lloyd’s name.

Wengler

Dean August Wengler age 84 diedWednesday October 14, 2015 in Liberty, Texas. Dean was born September 3, 1931 in Overton, NE, the son of the late Matilda and William Wengler. Dean loved to be around his family and friends. He worked in Nebraska as a carpenter until his retirement. Upon retirement he moved to Hull, Texas and became involved in the Bee Business. He would deliver honey to all his customers in the area. Often at Christmas he would return to Nebraska and bring all of his family his processed honey. He loved living in Texas, and had many wonderful friends. His friends cared for and assisted him in the past years.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents as well as his daughters Marilyn and Linda Wengler, and his brothers Ed, Bob, and Leo Wengler.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Paulette Bendon of Fremont, NE, Terri Miller and husband Lynn of Valley, NE, Marie Placzek of Fremont, NE., sisters Maryann Schinzel and Sarah Claybaugh. In addition he also leaves his five grandchildren, Shawn, Amber, Brandon, Amanda, and Michael and three great grandchildren, Zachary, Layhla, and Connor.

The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the friends that took such wonderful care of Dean. A special thank you to Ron and Betty Fletcher, Kristy Bumgardner, and Dorothy Smith, you made everything a little easier just by being there. A memorial service for Dean will be held 2 P.M. Friday October 16, 2015 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575.

Johnston

Lemuel James Johnston, age 86 of Dayton, died at San Jacinto Hospital in Baytown on October 7, 2015.

Lemuel was born August 5, 1929 in Somerset, VT, son of the late Lacie Lemuel Johnston and Flora Mida Leonard Johnston. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949. Lemuel worked as a pilot for Standard Products and flying was his dream. He had a big personality and was funny. Lemuel enjoyed building model ships and telling stories. Photography was a love to him especially photographing from his airplane. His best friend was Bill Corbett who was an author that wrote “Cluster” which told of a house that Lemuel grew up in. He will be missed by all.

Lemuel was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Mary Joyce Johnston. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters; Nancy Rose & husband Charles, Betty Price and husband Ed, Terrie Rhew and husband Ronnie, Leslie Walker and husband David, Lauren Maddox and husband Larry, Cynthia Ivey, Deborah Fraley, Delena Johnston, sisters; Joy Marjorie Johnston-Golob, Delena Ann Johnston, best friend: Bill Corbett, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX.

Price

James Ray Price 85, of Hardin, Texas died on October 7, 2015.

He was born on June 9, 1930 in Center, Texas to Charlie Owens Price and Willie Lee Britton. He worked for Halliburton for 35 years. He lived in LaPorte, Texas and raised his family there then moved to Timpson, Texas until he settled in Hardin, Texas.

He is survived by his daughters Tina Fregia and husband James from LaPorte, Texas; Donna Noble and husband Brian from Hardin, Texas. Grandchildren Ross Fregia and wife Alison; Lucas McOmber and wife Adrienne. Great Grandchildren Kendon McOmber; Logan Brown; Emma McOmber; Aidan Fregia. He is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years Tommie Price.

He is preceded in death by his second wife of 17 years June Price.

Visitation will be Friday October 9, 2015 from 4-7pm at Paul U. Lee LaPorte Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday October 10, 2015 at 11am at Paul U. Lee LaPorte Funeral Home with internment immediately following at Grandview cemetery in Pasadena, Texas.

LaFour

Emma Marie Hargrave LaFour, 85, of Old River, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services at 2:30 p.m., Monday, at the Houston National cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Emma was born March 13, 1930 in Mt. Belvieu, to parents; Sam Hargrave and Mary Douglas, and has resided in Old River for the past 20 years. She was a retired beautician by trade and attended the Maranatha Church. She also enjoyed ceramics and breeding Chows.

Mrs. LaFour was preceded in death by her father: Sam Hargrave, mother: Mary Douglas Clymer, stepmother: Mary Hargrave, husband: Jack LaFour, son: Sidney D. LaFour, sisters: Marquita Daigle and Gloria Breeding, and brothers: Sam, Lester, Kenneth, Franklin, Denton, and Chester Hargrave.

Mrs. LaFour is survived by her daughter: Cheria Y. LaFour of Cove and Linda M. Dixon and husband Pete of Alvin, sons: Edwin G. LaFour of Cove, Paul J. LaFour of Cove, and Floyd D. LaFour of Deer Park, brother: David Hargrave of Old River, sister: Judy A. Clemmons of Huffman, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lasure

Carl Lasure of Dayton died Tuesday October 6th, 2015, in Houston.

Carl was born in Kentucky, on July 27, 1940. He honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He spent several years as a crane operator before moving to the area fourteen years ago. Carl loved his dogs, and loved to fish. He was even known to make bait out of cornflakes. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.

Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Carla Blank, and Husband Andy of Dayton; daughter Pamela Lyons of Glasgow, Kentucky; grandsons Wade Blank and Terry Conaster; granddaughters Aubreigh Blank, Madyson Blank, and Amy Wood; and two great-grandchildren. Carl will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main; Dayton, Texas.

Johnson

Betty Lou Johnson, age 79 of Dayton, died at her residence on October 7, 2015.

Betty was born October 30, 1935 in Little Rock, AR, daughter of the late Herman Carter and Eunice McFarlin Carter. She moved to the Dayton area from Arkansas and has lived here in Dayton for thirty-five plus years. Betty was a housewife all of her life and she enjoyed gardening. She loved her grandkids and especially loved her dog. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Billy Johnson, brothers; Lloyd Alton Carter, Clinton Carter, Floyd Carter and sister; Patsy McGahey. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son; Larry Johnson and wife Kelly of Dayton, daughters; Debbie Hues and husband Tommy of Shepherd, Vickie McElhaney of Channelview, brother; William Carter and wife Marilyn of Desmoines, IA, loving pet; Little Man, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Service for Betty Lou Johnson will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX with burial to follow at Palms cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service from 12n to 2pm.

Walker

Noland Walker, age 61 of Liberty, died in Houston on October 6, 2015.

Noland was born August 15, 1954 in Liberty, TX, son of the late Herbert Walker Sr and Christine Bush Walker. Noland graduated from Liberty High School and was a laborer for Brown & Root for several years. His family said that Noland was an outgoing and jolly person. Noland knew everybody and everybody knew him. He will be missed by all.

Noland was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers; Donald Ray Walker, James Walker, Herbert Walker Jr and Johnny Walker.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, brothers; Dennis Walker and wife Debra of Baytown, Kenneth Walker and wife Jennie of Houston, Clifton Walker and wife Stephanie of Baytown, Sylvester Walker of Ames, sisters; Jeanette Robbins and husband Milton of Dayton, Pamela Stephens of Baytown, and aunts; Joann Phillips and Janice Polk.

Services for Noland Walker will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11am at St. Miles Baptist Church in Ames. Burial will follow at Wells cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10am to 11am.

York

Kathy Denise Williams York age 57 of Dayton died October 3, 2015.

Kathy was born October 28, 1957 the daughter of the late Carl O. Williams and Mable M. Kervin Williams. Kathy will be remembered as a caring, loving, individual with a heart of gold. She never met a stranger and loved to spend time with her family. Kathy last worked for Wal-Mart as a Customer Service Manager.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as a sister Carla Watson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Ronnie York, daughter Jessica York, Grandchildren Lucas Myers, Aden York, and Oren York. In addition she leaves her sister Linda McCraw. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Wednesday October 7, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton, Texas. Funeral services to be held 1pm Thursday October 8, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Palms Memorial Park cemetery.

Segovia

Joe Segovia Sr. of Coldspring died Monday October 5th, 2015, in Houston.

Joe was born in Meriden, Kansas, on July 22, 1933, the son of the late Pomposa Segovia and Rosa Gonzalez Segovia. Joe had the honor of serving his country in the U.S. Army and Airforce, and is a veteran of the Korean War. He spent approximately 35 years working as a welder/fabricator for EFCO where he retired in 1993. A few years later he went to work for Walmart in Livingston as a greeter in the garden department. Joe loved to fish, but he loved his children and grandchildren even more.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Pete Segovia, Pat Segovia, Mose Segovia, and Ram Segovia; sister Theresa Segovia; daughters Theresa Pena and Joann Segovia; grandson David Boles, Jr.; and granddaughter Regina Boles.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Clara Millard Segovia; sons Joseph Segovia and wife Deborah of Coldspring, Joe Segovia, Jr of Coldspring; daughters Nancy Lively of Livingston, and Shirley Segovia of Coldspring; brothers Lupe Gonzalez, and Gilbert Segovia; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday October 10, 2015, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Sterling Funeral Home, located at 602 N. Main St. in Dayton, TX.

Schilling

W. N. “Sonny” Schilling, 91, of Dayton, died Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Sonny was born September 5, 1924 in Corsicana, to parents; Dewey W. and Emma James Schilling, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1942, received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 1950, a veteran of the US Navy with service during WW II, a retired petroleum engineer, and member of the First Baptist Church. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and reloading ammunition.

Mr. Schilling was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Mildred White Schilling, daughter: Jeanna Gail Schilling, son: Wilbur N. Schilling, Jr., brother: Don Schilling, and sister: Jean Holcomb. He is survived by his son: Ken Schilling and wife Debbie of Deer Park, daughter: Debbie Simpson and husband Marven of Utah, sister: Kathryn Mace of Dayton, grandchildren: Don Schilling, Deran Schilling and wife Amy, Dane Schilling and wife Melissa, Taylor Prewitt, Amber Creech and husband Taylor, and Aaron West and wife Lillian, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

To those who desire, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church at 202 E. Houston, Dayton, Texas 77535, in Sonny’s name.

Wright

Cindy Kay Wright 58, of Votaw, died Saturday October 3, 2015 at MD Anderson Cancer Center of Houston.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services with Pastor Beau Rosser officiating. Interment will follow at Votaw cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, 2015 also at Faith & Family from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers are John Wright, William Anderson, Alan Thompson, Mitchell Thompson, Mark Quinn and Dean Duncan. Honorary pallbearer is Phillip Cavazos.

She was born September 25, 1957 to George Dorsey Anderson and Lucille Smith in Nacogdoches, she lived in Votaw for ten years after moving from Highlands after living there for twenty-one years.

She was a teachers aide for West Hardin I.S.D. for many years.

Cindy is preceded in death by a brother, Roger Leon Anderson and her parents, George Anderson and Lucille Anderson. She is survived by her husband, John Wright of Votaw, daughters, Laura Wright of Houston, Candace Wright of San Antonio.

Brothers, William George Anderson of Votaw, Charles Dorsey Anderson and wife Elizabeth of Pensacola, FL, and best friends of 31 years, Alan and Kathy Thompson of Votaw.

Her god children are Elizabeth Graves of Dickerson, Jackie Duncan of Baytown and Mitchell Thompson of Baytown.

Grandchildren are Addyson Thompson and Ethan Draper. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, other family members and close friends.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to special needs children at West Hardin I.S.D. 39227 Hwy 105, Saratoga TX, 77585.
