Lillian Maurine Jones Crosby, age 49 of Devers, died August 9, 2015 at her residence.

Lillian was born February 10, 1966 in Liberty, TX, daughter of Garland Lee Jones and Minta Lafon Ray Jones. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1984 and then attended San Jacinto Community College where she earned her degree as a LVN. Lillian worked in the home health care industry for five years.

Lillian was preceded in death by her father, paternal grandparents; O.H. Jones and Florence Jones, and maternal grandparents; Kenneth Ray and Maurine Ray.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, mother; Minta Lafon Clark and husband Hugh, son; Weaver Ray Brown and wife Brandi, daughter; Jane Grace Crosby, brother; Kenneth H. Jones and wife Linda, granddaughter; Avery Caia Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Lillian Maurine Jones Crosby were held, Monday, August 17, 2015 at 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis with David Cross officiating. Cremation services were entrusted to Allison Funeral Service.

Walker

Neta Frizzell Walker, 69, of Dayton, died Monday, August 17, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Neta was born in Shinewell, Oklahoma, to parents; Herby Calvin and Johnny Nomal Sherfield Frizzell, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. She was a homemaker, a former Dayton ISD bus driver after 10 years of service, and member of the First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed playing bingo, painting, fishing, gardening, and sports.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Gary L. Frizzell, sister: Esther Fortune, nephew: Guy Frizzell, and grandson: Kip Wayne Walker. She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Jimmy Walker of Dayton, sons: Kim walker and wife Andie of Dayton and Kris Walker of Dayton, sister: Janet Melancon of Dayton, brothers: Delton Frizzell and wife Ruth of California and Coy Frizzell of Hardin, grandson: Andrew Walker, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

For those who desire, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, in Neta’s name.

LeMelle

Victor Vincent LeMelle Jr, age 46 of Liberty, died at his residence on August 17, 2015.

Victor Jr was born October 4, 1968, son of Victor LeMelle Sr and Adlean Louviere LeMelle. Victor Jr graduated from Liberty High School and then went on and received his degree at ITT. He was a technician for Texas Instruments. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and nephew. He will be missed by all.

Victor Jr was preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides of his family, uncle; Lionel Morman LeMelle, first cousin; Jason LeMelle.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents; Victor LeMelle Sr and Adlean Louviere LeMelle, brothers; Bertrand LeMelle, Warren LeMelle, Leonard LeMelle, and sisters; Victoria LeMelle and Lorine LeMelle.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Jobes

Don T. Jobes, Jr., age 86, died August 15, 2015 in Houston, Texas.

He was born November 22, 1928 in Rocksprings, Texas to Don Temple Jobes, Sr. and Frances Marie Goodwin. "He was quite a cowboy!"

As a young man he worked on ranches in west Texas where he developed his love for cattle and agriculture.

He continued his love for the livestock industry in high school where he was active in the FFA and 4-H programs in Alpine, Texas.

He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Sul Ross University in 1953 and received his Master's in Agricultural Education at Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1954.

He did post-graduate work at Texas A & M University.

Don taught vocational agriculture at Cypress-Fairbanks High School for nine years before joining the Texas Education Agency in Austin, Texas where he supervised agriculture teachers across the state.

In 1956, he was named the Executive Secretary for the state association of Future Farmers of America.

Don also served as Livestock Superintendent for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo during this time.

On January 1, 1967 Don joined the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as Assistant General Manager where he served for 31 years.

Don retired to his J7 Ranch near East Bernard, Texas in 1998 where he raised registered Red Brangus cattle. He produced both show and commercial Red Brangus cattle and was largely responsible for introducing the International Red Brangus Show to Houston. In 2014 he was honored by the International Red Brangus Breeders (IRBBA) with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Mary Helen Jobes; daughter, Carrie Jobes Hitchcock and her husband Bob; son, Casey Jobes and wife Debra; daughter, Julie Ray Dunn; son, Robert Lee Dunn Jr. and his wife Rhonda; 7 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two half-sisters, several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Jack Jobes and his parents.

Service for Don T. Jobes Jr will be Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 10am at First United Methodist Church in Liberty with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Whisman

Albert B. Whisman, 75, of Liberty, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m., to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Albert was born March 26, 1940 in DuPont, Indiana, to parents; Cortes J. and Jenny B. Click Whisman, and has resided in the Dayton/Liberty area since 1978. He was a graduate of the Channelview High School class of 1958, attended college in Fairbanks, Alaska, a retired master sergeant from the US Air Force, member of VFW Post #5621, a Special Olympics volunteer, and Past-President of the NCOA. He also enjoyed playing golf, bowling, playing pinochle, and sports.

Mr. Whisman was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Geneva Stamper and Maxine Smith, and brothers: Hiram, John, J.R., Kenneth, Wendell, and Gene Whisman. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Dorothy Ladd Whisman of Liberty, son: Al Whisman and wife Julia of Moss Hill, daughters: Jenny Redden and husband Scott of Wyoming and Kennie Arnold and husband Mike of Tarkington Prairie, sister: Laura Keesee of Somerville, brother: Roy Whisman of California, grandchildren: Alex, Ashley, Kristen, Pvt. Rodney Stephens, Aaron, Austin, A.J., Samantha, Zach, Verna, and Susan, great-grandchildren: Ayden, Alisyn, Tiana, and Araleigh, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Taylor

Eddie Arnold Taylor of Daisetta, TX, died Monday August 11, 2015 at his residence. He was 71 years of age.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday August 15 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Daisetta, with Reverend Shawn Vickers officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday August 14, 2015 also at First Baptist Church of Daisetta, starting at 5:00 P.M.

Eddie was born on August 20, 1963 in Daisetta, and was a lifetime resident. He was a graduate of Hull - Daisetta High School and served on the school board for 15 years. He was the Mayhaw Festival president, citizen of the year, 4-H and FFA leader, and a volunteer at the TVE for 40 years serving on the Calf Scramble Committee, Barn superintendent, and Livestock Show president.

Eddie was a member of First Baptist Church of Daisetta, and was the owner of Taylor Welding Service established in 1971. Eddie is survived by his High School sweetheart and his one and only love, Shirley. They celebrated 52 years of marriage on Sunday August 9, 2015.

Eddie and Shirley were blessed with two children, the late Eddie Duane and Elicia Marberry and husband Fred of Daisetta. Eddie has 3 grandchildren, Chad and Chisholm Marberry, and Heather Roberts and husband Cody of Daisetta.

He had 3 great grandchildren, Thomas and Lydia Marberry and Brayden Roberts. Eddie loved his grandbabies and each one had their own name for him: PawPaw, Poppa, Grandpa, Pop Pop, Poppy, and Apaw. He is survived by a sister, Mary Sellers and husband Jerry of Houston and by a special family friend, Tony Allwright. He had 5 nephews and 5 nieces.

Serving as pallbearers are Buck Carl, Jimmy Douglas, Terry Wilson, Granville Taylor, Kevin Brown, and Travis Williamson.

Honorary pallbearers are Denman Watson, Jimmy Cossey, Mike Shannon, Fred Marberry, Chad Marberry, Chisolm Marberry, Cody Roberts, Heather Roberts, Helen Gilbreath, Mary Jo Hanel, and Tony Allwright.

McDade

Glenda Suann McDade, 42, of Dayton died Saturday, August 8, 2015 in San Jacinto County.

Memorial Service for Glenda will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2015 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Glenda was born February 20, 1973 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to parents, Robert Bernard McDade and Sheila Kay Miller McDade. She attended Boiling Springs High School and had been a resident of Dayton since 2008. Glenda was currently employed by Boomerang Tube in Liberty. She loved the outdoors, especially gardening, camping, wildlife and fishing. She was passionate about her pet rescues.

Glenda was preceded in death by her niece, Cari Ann Stailey and nephew, Jeremy McDade. She is survived by her husband Matt Wirrick; mother, Sheila McDade; mother-in-law, Elsie Wirrick; father-in-law, Raymond Wirrick, Sr.; sisters, Dawn McDade, Becky Hevel, Rocky Zuba and Robin Stailey; brothers, Rick McDade, Rich McDade, and Ronnie McDade; sister-in-law, Ernie Landis; brother-in-law, James Landis; nine nephews, five nieces, other relatives and a host of friends

Chance

Harry Crawford Chance died August 7, 2015.

He was with his friends at Magnolia Place Healthcare Center in Liberty, Texas. Harry was born on January 7, 1937 in Donaldsville, Seminole County, Georgia to Harry Dolphus Chance and Virdie Lena Averitt. At age 4, the Chance family moved to Columbia, Alabama, and then to Auburndale Florida, where Harry completed grade school and graduated from Auburndale High School.

After graduation, Harry got a job selling cleaning supplies and he was able to travel. In the early 1970's Harry moved to Liberty, Texas. Harry was employed by Liberty ISD and served as a custodian at Sam Houston Elementary School for as long as he was able.

Many Liberty residents will recall seeing Harry ride his tri-cycle or electric scooter around town; he never let his physical, financial, or mental limitations hold him back. Harry never met a stranger and cultivated friendships. He was generous with his time and energy and always wanted to be a part of any activities at First Baptist Church of Liberty, the Liberty Lion's Club, and the Liberty Opry. He was a faithful volunteer at Lions Club fundraisers and program sales at Liberty Panther football games.

Harry's needs for assistance blessed many friends with an opportunity for service. Harry knew when he needed help and was never too proud to ask. In doing so, he helped others build friendships that spanned generations, denominations, and social status.

Harry is survived by his older brother, William Thomas Chance of North Carolina and two half-brothers, James Kenneth Clemmons of Chicago, Illinois and Donald Wayne Clemmons, of Winter Haven, Florida. Harry's special friends in Liberty County are vast and include the families of Dr. Nylds and Mary Hinch, Wesley and Kimber Hinch, Karmen and Russell McGee, Karen and David Adams, John Hebert, R.B. and Mary McDonald, the Liberty Lions Club and the members of First Baptist Church of Liberty. Special thanks go out to Harry's friends and caregivers of Magnolia Place Healthcare in Liberty.

Services for Harry Crawford Chance will be held at First Baptist Church of Liberty, Texas on Friday, August 14, 2015 with visitation at 9:00 A.M. and a service at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Cooke cemetery in Liberty, Texas. Services have been entrusted to Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Roberts

Harold Wayne Roberts, age 79 of Anahuac, passed away at his residence on August 9, 2015.

Wayne was born September 2, 1935 in Colorado City, TX, son of the late Julius and Naomi Smith Roberts. He entered into the armed forces in August 1954 where he served for four years in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Wayne was a superintendent in the road construction business for over fifty plus years. His last employment was with Brown and Root. Wayne was a member of the VFW in Freer, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, building bird cages and working on small engines with his wife. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Donna Roberts Schneider, grandson; Terry Wayne Roberts and sister; Pat Roberts.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-nine years; Melva Roberts of Anahuac, sons; David Roberts and wife Paula of Baytown, Bryan Roberts and wife Kathy of Baytown, daughters; Sharron Mouton of Baytown, Penny Langham and husband Donnie of Anahuac, brother; Julius H. Roberts Jr of Houston, brother-in-law; Frank Kopecky, grandchildren; Shelly Roberts and husband Travis, Seante Potter and husband Aric, Lewis Schneider and wife Nicole, Margie Sheridan and husband Matt, Ryan Roberts, Ashley Roberts, Hayden Roberts, Donnie Langham and Levi Langham, Jade Elizabeth Cherry, Frankie, April and Tracy Terry, numerous great-grandchildren, special friends; Richard Kassman and sons; Jeremy and Drew.

Services for Wayne Roberts will be Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10am at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 South Main, Anahuac, TX with burial to follow at Anahuac cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
