Helen E. Hines age 92 formally of Raywood died Friday June 26, 2015 in Dallas.

Helen was born July 10, 1922 in Bronson, Texas the daughter of the late Frank Ellison and Willie Jordan Ellison Drawhorn. Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as spending time at her cabin in Colorado. She was an active member of the Liberty\Dayton Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Devers. She also enjoyed playing piano, singing, scrapbooking, and studying the family genealogy.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, T.D. Hines, sister Bernice Dubisson, brother Maurice Drawhorn, and her beloved daughter Helen Joyce Hines Hyden.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her grandchildren; Dana L. Hyden Sommerfield, Lisa Hyden Cooper and husband Tony, Micheal Hyden and wife Kara, great grandchildren; John Marc Cooper, Craig Cooper, Bryant Hyden, Julia Cooper, Jordan Sommerfield, Garret Hyden, and Jack Sommerfield. In addition she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Helen will be held at 2 P.M. Monday June, 29, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine St. Beaumont, Texas.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial to take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Beaumont, Texas. Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575 has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Waldrop

Anne Heckler Waldrop, 93, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at her residence in Houston.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Florence and William Heckler, two brothers, Bill and John Heckler, her husband, Leonard E. "Monk" Waldrop, sisters-in-law, Marion Heckler and Frances Waldrop, and brothers-in-law, Nelson Waldrop, Claude Waldrop and Raymond Waldrop of Liberty, Texas.

She is survived by her four loving children, David Waldrop of Yucca Valley, California, and Andy, Bill and Marianne Waldrop, all of Houston. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Waldrop of The Woodlands and Evelyn Waldrop of Madisonville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request, there will be no service. Her remains will be interred in the family plot in Springdale cemetery, Peoria, Illinois.

We wish to thank the wonderful people at Houston Hospice for their care and concern as well as the dear people that held our family in thought and prayer these last several months.

In lieu of usual remembrances, please consider a gift to Houston Hospice, the American Cancer Society, your local animal shelter, or the charity of your choice.

Harrington

Lorena “Toot” Simon Harrington, 91, of Dayton, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the St. Anne’s Catholic cemetery in Cow Island, Louisiana, with entombment following thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lorena was born April 11, 1924 in Forked Island, Louisiana, to parents; Oday and Marie Borque Simon, a former resident of Fannett, and has resided in Dayton since 1968. She was a homemaker and catholic by faith. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, crabbing, fishing, and going to the beach.

Mrs. Harrington was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Ernest Harrington, sons: Curlen and Ronald Harrington, granddaughter: Angie Addington, great-granddaughter: Stormie Addington, two brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter: Linda Addington and husband George of Dayton, sister: Cecile Cox of Lake Charles, Louisiana, grandchildren: Curtis Addington and wife Carol Ann, Glen Addington and wife Shannon, Jodi Plauck and husband Andy, Anna Caswell and husband Nate, and Randy Harrington, great-grandchildren: Shelbie Addington, Kaitlyn Addington, Kendal Addington, Bri Cothren, Courtney Boudro, Sara Jamison, Julia Jamison, and Corrie Caswell, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

To those who desire, donations may be made to the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department at P.O. Box 606, Dayton, Texas 77535, in Lorena’s name.

Lehew

Thomas Robert Lehew, 57, of San Leon, TX. died on June 20, 2015 in Texas City.

Tommy was preceded in death by his dad: Robert Joseph Lehew, mom: Betty Ruth Wetherill Husser, Uncle and Aunt: Tommy and June Wetherill, and daughter: Crystal Lynn Lehew.

Survived by his sons: Thomas and Michael Lehew, grandson, dear friend: Peggy DeVault, brother: Richard Husser, and numerous cousins including Melinda Rhame, Robin Prejean, Julie Crawley, and Leslie Driggers. Tommy was a glazier for over 25 years. He loved his family. Fishing was his passion.

A private memorial lunch for Tommy and his Mom will be held for family on Saturday, June 27.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Coastal Fisheries Management. From the lake where we live, rivers and tides move and unite us.

Robinson

Catherine Redmon Robinson, 75, of Liberty, Texas passed away at her residence on June 16, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

Catherine was born July 4, 1939, in Liberty, Texas, daughter of the late John Murphy Redmon, Sr. and Margaret Brooks Redmon. She graduated in 1957 from Liberty Training Center and went to Lee College where she received her degree as a LVN. Catherine worked for Home Healthcare for forty plus years. She was a faithful member of Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on many committees. Catherine love bowling, bingo, shopping and traveling. She will be missed by all.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: John Murphy Redmon, Maurice Redmon, George Redmon; one sister: Margaret Brooks.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: husband; Will Robinson, one son: Gregory Baldwin; one sister: Lillie Gradney; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friday, June 26, 2015, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Wells Memorial Chapel, 300 Alabama St, Liberty, Texas, She will Lie-in-State, Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 Wallisville Rd, Liberty, Texas, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, services will follow, Rev. A.K. Thomas, officiating. Interment Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty, Texas.

Final arrangements entrusted to Wells Funeral Services 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas.

Ellis

Danny Lee Ellis age 53 formally of Liberty died Sunday June 21, 2015 at his home in Willis with his loving family by his side.

Danny was born April 19, 1962 in Onaga, Kansas the son of the late Robert Ellis and Icie Elizabeth Holley Ellis. He worked for numerous years as an Oilfield Mechanic last working at Tri-Point Energy and later Fourm Energy. Throughout Danny’s working career he spent a lot of time traveling, his work has taken him to Africa, Germany, Mexico and all over the United States. Danny was brave, strong, honest, and had a great sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife and partner for nineteen years, Gwen Ellis, daughters Benjie Fregia and Shelly Courtney, sister Cindy Shackleford, and four beloved grandchildren; Draie Fregia, Katy Letney, Isabel Fregia, and Lanie Courtney.

A memorial service for Danny will be celebrated Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 6 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Bayliss

Bobbie Carroll Bayliss age 66 of Highlands passed away June 18, 2015 in Franklinton, LA.

Bobbie was born in Biloxi, Mississippi January 11, 1949 the daughter of Robert Campbell and Janie Elise Nimmons Campbell. Bobbie enjoyed traveling; she especially enjoyed taking her five children on trips throughout the years. One of her favorite things to do was to get a hotel room just to get away. Many of Bobbie’s trips involved spending time at the beach. Bobbie was a graduate of the University of Houston; it was there she received bachelors in two disciplines. Bobbie started her career in education and later went on to be the owner/operator of H-Med Inc. as well as become the Director for Respiratory Therapy Department at Sunbelt hospital.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Campbell. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Jesse Morgan wife Tammy, Danny Morgan wife Natasha, Chris Bayliss, Holley Morgan, and Cindy Friedrichs, sisters; Louise Ziriax, Marie Wilson, Patricia Reeves, Joyce Lednum, and Betsy Campbell, brother; Bobby Campbell; mother; Janie Elise Campbell, Ex-husbands; Leonard Morgan and Bobby Bayliss, grandchildren; Whitley Eltrabulsi, Paige Garrett, Kristina Friedrichs, and Jesse Friedrichs, great-grandchildren; Emily, Zeiydan, Esmeralda, and Hellena. In addition she leaves her caregivers and adopted family; Theresa Vaughn, Larry Beard, and Tammy Kaib. She will sadly missed all who knew and loved her.

Visitation for Bobbie will be held Tuesday June 23, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. at Wooster Baptist Church 7007 Bayway Dr. Baytown, Texas. Funeral services to be held 10AM Wednesday June 24, 2015 at the church with burial to follow in Earthman Memory Gardens Baytown, Texas. Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Hobbs

Comer Earl Hobbs, age 77 of Liberty, died June 19, 2015 in Pasadena, TX.

Comer was born September 5, 1937 in Texas City, TX, son of the late William Washington Hobbs and Earlene Nottingham Hobbs. He graduated from Dayton High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in History from Florida State University. Comer retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after twenty-one years of dedicated service to his country. After retirement, he worked for Red Smart as an electrician and then worked as a teacher for seventeen years. Comer loved to read and work crossword puzzles as well as recondition his firearms. But mostly, he loved his family.

Comer was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Vernon Eugene Hobbs and sister; Edith Mae Hearnsburger.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-seven years; Marcia Hobbs of Liberty, daughters; Bonnie Portier of Liberty, Meredith Hackney and husband Thomas of Houston, sons; Steven Hobbs and wife Laura of Crosby, Stewart Hobbs and wife Brooke of Houston, brothers; William Hobbs and wife Johnnie of Cypress, Arthur Hobbs and wife Baynes of San Angelo, sisters; Linda Clark of Dayton, Kathy Worden and husband Les of Lumberton, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Comer Earl Hobbs will be Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty with burial to follow at Palms Memorial cemetery in Dayton.

Dalton

Alva Marie “Pat” Philips Dalton, 85, of Dayton, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the Kindred Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with rosary at 7p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Pat was born September 4, 1929 in LaGrange, to parents; Walker and Christine Kadlecek Philips, a former resident of Port Lavaca, and has resided in Dayton for the past seven years. She was a homemaker, member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, and the Women’s International Leadership Association. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing, and crafts.

Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Alonzo “Don” Dalton, son: Troy Dalton, and brothers: Frank Philips, William Philips, and Leboy Philips. She is survived by her daughters: Pam Mulcare and husband Mike of Dayton, Sandy Livanec and husband Mike of Dayton, and Donna Dalton of Dayton, sisters: Evelyn Pickering of Tennessee and Jeanette Boutwell of Houston, brothers: B.J. Philips of Gonzales, Leslie Philips of Houston, and Michael Philips of Sugarland, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Gaskin

Cathy L. Stiles Gaskin, 81, of Dayton, Texas died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at a family residence in Dayton, Texas, in the company of loved ones as they celebrated her life in preparation for her peaceful journey to be with the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton and delivered by a close family friend Reverend Wayne Johnson. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather in commencement after the ceremony at The Parker House meeting facility located at 201 S. Hill, Dayton, Texas, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Cathy was born November 2, 1933 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to parents; Gilbert F. and Mildred P. Fleming Stiles. The family moved to Rockport, Texas in 1967 where she married Charles Gaskin in 1970, they moved to Dickinson, Texas, in 1977. After retiring as owner/operator of C & C Mobile Home and RV Park, Cathy enjoyed many years of travel with her loving husband and became a member of the Good Sam Club, a national travel club. Cathy resided in Dayton, Texas for the past eight years, where she enjoyed her many hobbies including crafts, traveling, genealogy, photography and family gatherings.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, grandson: Travis Thompson, and sisters: Alberta Snyder and Janet Karow. She is survived by her husband of 44 years: Charles “Pop” Gaskin of Dayton, Texas, children: daughters, Janet Odom and husband Wally of Moss Hill, Texas and Cindy Bowles and husband Shorty of Dayton, Texas; sons, Jim Henry and wife Pat of Wylie, Texas and Steve Russ and wife Debbie of Rockport, Texas; step-daughter, Melba Gaskin of Rockport, Texas and step-son Dwayne Gaskin and wife Margarette of Rockport, Texas; brother, Harry Blair Stiles and sister, Phyllis Marie Butterbaugh both of Indiana, Pennsylvania, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73123-1718, in Cathy’s name.

Read

William “Bill” Jack Read, 80, was surrounded by family when he died at Magnolia Place in Liberty, Texas on June 17, 2015.

Bill was born in Port Neches, Texas on March 25, 1935 to Leon and Bessie Read. He grew up in Merryville, Louisiana before settling in Mauriceville, Texas.

An employee of Firestone for 42 years, Bill spent much of his spare time with his sons.

Whether it was fishing at Beavers Bend in Oklahoma or hunting in the Texas Hill Country, he enjoyed the outdoors and sharing the tall tales of their adventures.

His final years were spent in the community of Liberty, Texas. Bill was active in the First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and looked forward each year to the annual men’s banquet. He was passionate about helping others and continued his service at the Liberty Senior Activity Center. You could often find Bill at the Liberty Opry on Saturday evenings, enjoying the music and friendship of many. After moving to Magnolia Place, Bill remained active by calling bingo games, supporting Spirit of Sharing, and those special lunches at Minnie’s place. As the President of the residents group, he made sure that all the residents had an ear to listen and an extra pair of hands to help with whatever they needed.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Majol Basco Read. He is survived by their three sons, Blane Read and wife, Joanna, of Mauriceville; Bruce Read and wife, Linda, of Little Cypress; and Barry Read and his wife, Kristi, of Katy. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Catherine Holt Read, and son, John Holt. He is survived by Kathy Johnson and husband, Bill, of Danbury; Jacque Holt; Rick Holt and wife, Emma; and Jess Holt and wife, Kelly, all of Deer Park. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Herrington Read, and children Deena Van Pelt and husband, Robert, of Mauriceville; and Darren Grissom and wife, Sarah, of Leander, Texas.

Family was at the center of Bill’s life and he treasured every moment with his siblings. Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Ida Mae Hennigan and Bee Hare Guillott. He is survived by his two brothers, John P. Read and wife, Darlene, of Orange; and Gerald Read and wife, Gene, of Merryville, Louisiana; along with his two sisters, Merle Craft and Aileen Read, both of Merryville, Louisiana. Bill was a caring and proud grandfather of seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and the favorite uncle to dozens of very special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5 pm – 8 pm on Friday, June 19, with funeral services on Saturday, June 20, at 10 am. Both the visitation and funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Liberty. A graveside service, at St. Mary’s cemetery in Orange, will follow the funeral at 3:00 pm. All services are under the care of Allison Funeral Service.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff and residents of Magnolia Place, Dave Neal, and to the family of Juan and Maria Venegas, owners of Casa Don Boni. Your care and friendship was a blessing to Bill and our entire family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Magnolia Place Activity Fund, 1620 Magnolia Street, Liberty, Texas 77575.
