Poorbaugh

Robert Wayne "Bobby" Poorbaugh 47 of Houston formerly of Liberty, died on Tuesday May, 19, 2015 in Houston.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday May, 23, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at North Main Baptist Church of Liberty with Reverend Dick Lintelman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday May, 22, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at North Main Baptist Church.

Bobby was born September 6, 1967 in Liberty, to Guy Poorbaugh and Edna Maxine McGuire. He had lived in Houston, for fifteen years and was an accounts manager for CRC National in Houston.

He was preceded in death by his mother Maxine Poorbaugh.

Survivors are his father Guy Poorbaugh of Liberty, brothers, Rick Poorbaugh of Houston, Randy Poorbaugh and wife Erica of Houston, and Mitch Streeter and wife Charlene of Las Vegas N.V. One sister Sherry Scritchfield and husband Ken of Liberty.

Nieces are Brooke, Amber, Heather, Alex, Abbi, and Alivia.

Nephews are Chris and wife Dolores, Nick, and Ethan.

Serving as pallbearers are Rick Poorbaugh, Randy Poorbaugh, Chris Wiley, Bobby Payne, Tracy Collins and Miguel Castro.

Johnson

Julia “Judy” Johnson, 88, of Old River-Winfree, Texas and formerly of Burnet, Texas passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, in San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas.

She was born on March 9, 1927 to Alexander and Rachel (Cihat) Nagy.

Judy was fluent in Hungarian and using her skills, she along with her family, sponsored several Hungarian Immigrants during the 1950’s Hungarian Revolt. She was the first woman president of the East Lake/Buchannan Fire Department and a licensed rehabilitator of wildlife for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Judy is a past Eastern Star Worthy Matron and she and her husband Bill have traveled to over 50 countries. Judy enjoyed gardening, fishing and hiking.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alexander and Rachel Nagy, siblings Ethel Stanford, Alex Nagy and Irene Gilliam.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 73 years Bill Johnson; sons Bill Johnson, Jr., and wife Cynthia and Dennis Johnson and wife Becky; four grandsons, three granddaughters, twelve great grandsons, three great granddaughters, one great great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews, a host of friends and her beloved pets Honey and Rusty.

A visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas with funeral services following at 2:00pm, with interment to follow in Palms Memorial Park. A memorial service in Burnet, Texas, by the Burnet Eastern Star will be held at a later date.

Pallbearers for Judy will be Corky Curry, Mike Hudman, Bubba Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Jr., Seth Johnson and Raymond Luna. A reception will immediately follow the interment at Old River-Winfree Community Building, 4818 N. FM 565 in Old River-Winfree.

Shaw

Bobbie Jean Shaw 86 of Thicket, died Thursday May 21, 2015 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont.

A native of Cedar Bayou, TX, she had lived in Thicket, most of her life and was an homemaker. She was a devoted Christian woman who fought a good fight. She attended the First Assembly of God Church of Saratoga.

She was preceded in death by her parents Owen Remie Davis and Willie Mae Kerbin also sister Lily George and brother Owen R. Davis.

Survivors are husband, Lowell Shaw of Thicket. Daughter, Lanelle Shaw - Young and husband Ted of Cypress, TX. Grandson, Andrew Stilwell and wife Shannon of Cypress.

Brother, Orville Davis and wife Valerie of Thicket, and brother in law, Alf Shaw and wife Dorothy of Hardin.

Step granddaughter, Wendy M. Young of Flatonia, and step-great granddaughter Christinia Colfield and her 3 children of Carlsbad, N.M.

Great grandchildren, Finley Andrew Stilwell and Kieran Avery Stilwell. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday May, 25, 2015 at The First Assembly of God Church of Saratoga, with Reverend Jeff Blizzard and Reverend Adolph Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday May, 24, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at First Assembly of God Church of Saratoga.

Johnson

Patricia Lynn Johnson 49 of Moss Hill, died on Thursday May, 21, 2015 at Harbor Hospice in Houston.

A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday May, 24, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Chaplain Mark Robinson and Melissa Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Moss Hill cemetery.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday May, 23, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

A native of Odessa, TX, Patricia had lived in Moss Hill, since 1982 and was a homemaker. A devout Christian she loved spending time with family and also enjoyed her arts and crafts. She was always helping people and putting others first.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Johnson of Moss Hill, parents, David and Wanda Harrison of Moss Hill. Daughter, Kaitlynn Nicole Perkins of Moss Hill, and brother Wesley Harrison and wife Charlotte of Tarkington.

Serving as pallbearers are Lee Harrison, Lance Harrison, Laramie Harrison, George Green, Fred Armstrong, and Jason Kelley.

Best

Linda Mayo Best, 76 years old of Liberty, TX died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in Houston, TX at Hermann Memorial Hospital after battling breast cancer.

She was born in Livingston, TX on September 30, 1938 and was the daughter of Leroy Mayo and Willie Mayo Winningham. Linda is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Gene best of Liberty, TX, daughter, Gena Wilcox and husband Dave of Anahuac, son, John Best and wife Janet of Tatum, TX, daughter, Jennifer Blanco and husband Robert of Celina, TX, grandchildren, Curt Wilcox and wife Taylor Jean, Taylor Ann Wilcox, Julia Mathes and husband Donnie, Blair Best, Morgan Best, Jasper Best, Stockten Blanco, Sullivan Blanco and Saylor Blanco, and great-grandson, Donald Scott Mathes. Linda was preceded in death by her mother and father, step-father, Paul Winningham, sisters, Bobbie Mitchell Dodd and Patricia Moyers.

Linda earned her Bachelor of Business Education degree from Sam Houston State University and her Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from Lamar University. She taught in several school districts including Anahuac and Liberty ISD. Linda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty, a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and had a love for collecting and selling antiques. Her favorite past-times were traveling, cooking with grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.

A memorial service for Linda Mayo Best will be Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10am at The First Baptist Church in Liberty, TX. Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Guzman

Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” Guzman, 55, of Anahuac, died at her home on Monday, May 18, 2015.

She was born on October 22, 1959 in Tarimoro, Guanajuato (Mexico) to Candido and Sofia Guzman.

Lupe was a member of Nocturnal Adoration Society, Our Lady of Light Catholic Church and was very active in the parish for over 30 years. Lupe enjoyed children, gardening, crocheting, the outdoors, her community as well as helping others that she came into contact with.

She was preceded in death by her parents Candido and Sofia Guzman, grandparents Maximo Salazar, Baltazar Guzman, Manuela Renteria and two sisters.

Lupe is survived by her grandmother Rosario Estrada; brothers Manuel Guzman and wife Guadalupe, Felipe Guzman and wife Maricela, Ramiro Guzman and wife Felipa, Jose Luis Guzman and wife Rocio and Jose Guzman and wife Salu; sister Rosa Maria Guzman and husband Jesus Alnanza; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her Anahuac family, along with Mike, Adaire, Josh and Lizzie.

A visitation with the family will be on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St., Anahuac, Texas with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 P.M..

Funeral Mass for Lupe will be celebrated at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church, 2207 S. Main St., Anahuac, Texas with Father Neil Arce officiating. Rite of committal will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Gaskamp

Danny Lee Gaskamp Sr, age 73 of Cleveland, died at his residence on May 17, 2015.

Danny was born December 13, 1942 in Houston, TX, son of the late Henry Lee Tidwell and Cleta Holiday Gaskamp. He graduated from Smiley High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army for six years. Danny was a carpenter and was always proud of his work. In his spare time, Danny loved to hunt and fish. He loved his wife and loved his family.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Judith Gaskamp, brothers; Paul and Johnny Gaskamp, father-in-law; Troy Berry and sister-in-law; Barbara Evens.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons; Danny Gaskamp Jr, Richard Gaskamp Sr, Benjamin Gaskamp, Michael Gaskamp, daughter; Kitty Wells, sisters; Kathy Adkinson, Jeanette McIntyre, brothers; Freddy & Thomas Gascamp, eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Cremation services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Evans

Marguerite Marie Evans, 74, died surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 16, 2015.

She was born in Jennings, LA on June 10, 1940 to Laurent and Clementine Guidry, the youngest of 15 children. On November 27, 1958 she married her beloved husband Bob. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2015.

Marguerite is dearly loved by her children: Rhonda Ducote & husband Steve, Robbie Evans, and Renee’ McClanahan. She has three granddaughters: Scarlett Green Love & husband Stevie, Kaci Call and parents Keli & Butch Call, and Maggi McClanahan. She has a great-granddaughter Madi Ducote and a great-grandson Steele Love.

Most precious in life to Marguerite was her faith, her family, and her friends. A faithful member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, she loved her country pastor Rev. Luong Tran. She found great comfort and strength in praying the rosary. She enjoyed the art of rug hooking and made lifelong friends through this craft. She was a wonderful cook and especially known for her cookies.

Marguerite was a lady in every sense of the word – classy, gracious, giving, and compassionate. She will be missed by many. Her life will be celebrated with a funeral mass on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in China, TX. Burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic cemetery in Liberty, TX, with lunch following at the Immaculate Conception church hall. Pall bearers will be Marguerite’s nephews.

The family suggests donations to the Our Lady of Sorrows Altar Society, P.O. Box 38 China, TX 77613 or the Immaculate Conception Altar Society, 411 Milam Street Liberty, TX 77575.

Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Bolt

Jordan Lynn Bolt, age 20, died Sunday May 17, 2015 in Liberty.

Jordan was born April 14, 1995 in Galveston the daughter of Marjorie Johnson Bolt and Joseph Bolt. Jordan never met a stranger, always treating her friends as if they were family. She was a graduate of Hardin High School, Class of 2013, where she was active in cheerleading and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Jordan leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, Marjorie Bolt of Liberty, father Joe Bolt Jr. of Hull, brother, Joey Bolt of Hull, fiancée Chris Wallace of Liberty, uncle Jeffrey Bolt wife Carrie, paternal grandfather Joe Bolt of New Caney, aunts; Lorie Limbaugh husband James, Terri Brock husband James, and Bonnie Sowell husband Lee. In addition she leaves her cousin and close friend Samantha Guest and husband Travis. She also leaves a host of cousins, adopted brothers and sisters, and extended family.

Visitation for Jordan will be held Wednesday May 20, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral services to be held 2 P.M. Thursday May 21, 2015 at the Hardin Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Hines to officiate, burial to follow in Cooke Memorial cemetery.
