Guy

Howard Hamilton Guy Jr. age 93 died Monday March 9, 2015 in Liberty.

Howard was born October 8, 1921 in Angie, LA the son of the late Howard Hamilton Guy Sr. and Ethel Mae Adams Guy. Howard retired after over twenty years of service as the business manager for the Liberty Independent School District. A veteran of WWII Howard served in the Army Air Corp as a pilot of the B-29 Super Fortress, as well as an engineer and observer. He retired from the Air Corp after attaining the rank of second lieutenant. After Howard’s retirement he traveled the world and enjoyed oil painting the architecture he witnessed. He was the past president for Liberty Lion’s Club and was active in the Liberty Art League.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tommy Darrell Guy, Richard Odell Guy and Emmett Worth Guy, a sister Helen Guy Blackwell, and his lifelong companion Loyce Guy.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Ann Horvath and husband Chuck of Mt. Vernon, NY, step-son Paul Humber and wife Candy of Liberty, sister Doris Guy Pope of Port Arthur, and a brother Douglas Edwin Guy of Franklinton, LA. In addition he leaves his granddaughter Claire Horvath, step-grandchildren Will A. Humber and J.D. Humber II, step great-grandchildren Keaton, Abigail, and Everett Humber.

A memorial service for Howard will be held 11AM Thursday March 12, 2015 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Cawthon

Robert A. Cawthon, 82, of Hankamer, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 in Houston. He was born on November 6, 1932 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Amos and Iva Cawthon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 58 years Wanda Jo Cawthon, sister Clara Maupin and brothers Johnnie Cawthon and Norman Cawthon.

Robert was a member of Old River Baptist Church and he served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Robert is survived by his daughter Becky Sherman and husband Bubba; grandchildren Bruce David Sherman and wife Kelle, Jennifer Elizabeth Sherman, Brittany Susanne Sherman and great grandson Wyatt David Sherman.

A visitation with the family will be on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St., Anahuac.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2015, in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, Anahuac, with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating.

Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Cawthon will be Bill Davis, Josh Goodson, Glen Phillips, Bruce Sherman, Dane Wilcox and Melvin Williams.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St., Anahuac, Texas 77514, 409-267-3456.

Holmes

Lessie B. Holmes 74, of Anahuac died Mar. 03, 2015.

Services are Saturday, Mar. 07, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Anahuac, 405 S Magnolia Ave. Anahuac. Rev. L. Guidry Officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 noon until funeral at 2 P.M.. Interment will be in Richardson cemetery, Hankamer.

Lessie was preceded in death by her parents Odell Haskins and Lena Brooks; son Jerry Dwayne Johnson; brother Daniel Lee Haskins and sister Mary Ann Humphrey-Andrus.

The sweet memories of Lessie will be forever cherished by her husband: Gaston Holmes Jr, her loving children: Alzenia Faye Guidry of Anahuac, Texas; Robbie August of Houston, Texas; Shirley Scott (Kenny) of Houston, Texas and one step daughter: Angie (Fred) of Houston, Texas. Three sister: Alice Marie Haskins and Edna Raye Lewis of Anahuac, Texas; and Ruby Marie Jones (Kenneth) of Baytown, Texas; Nine Grandchildren: Erika Fontenot (Ferdinand); Tera Guidry (John) Anahuac, Texas; Tonya Sutton (Winston) of Baytown, Texas; Dwayne Thomas (wife); Dametria Gill; Leslie Howard (Richard) Yolanda King (Emmanuel); Jamie Dillard (Darryl); Keisha Brown (Albert) all of Houston, Texas; Two God Children: Kester Godfrey of Baytown, Texas; and Gloria Humphrey of Anahuac, Texas. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Holmes's services have been entrusted to Proctor's Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac, TX. 'We Make The Difference'.

Odom

Davey Lea Taylor Odom, age 84 of Austin, TX, died at her residence on March 4, 2015.

Davey was born December 25, 1930 in Angelina County, TX, daughter of the late Henry Doyle Taylor and Lydia Mae Cochran Branch. She was a resident of Moss Hill, TX from 1948 until 2012 when she moved to Austin, TX, to be with her daughter. Davey Lea was a homemaker who spent many enjoyable hours caring for her extended family, gardening, playing dominos with friends and family and, most recently, crocheting caps for cancer patients.

Davey Lea was preceded in death by her parents, husband of sixty-one years; Douglas “Dock” Ervin Odom, sisters; Laura Mae Tidwell and Dorothy Nell Hillburn. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter; Cathy Odom Staples of Austin, son; Charles Douglas Odom and wife Holly of Mont Belvieu, brother; Charles Donald Taylor and wife Mary of Hardin, grandchildren; Lea Ann Odom and partner Christopher Kilpatrick, Chad Douglas Odom and wife Kristen, Fallon Guidry, Jared Oliver Guidry and partner Kim Rich, great-grandchildren; Tori Zimmer, Grant Odom and Ethan Guidry. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.

Services for Davey Lea Taylor Odom will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Moss Hill Community cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at the chapel of Allison Funeral Home.

Castro

Refugio Castro, age 74 of Liberty, died March 2, 2015 in Baytown, TX with his loving family by his side.

Refugio was born July 4, 1940 in El Granjenal, San Luis, Mexico, son of the late Macardo Castro and Trinidad Vega Castro. Refugio worked in the construction business for many years and retired from Troy Construction.

Refugio was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson; Michael Anthony Gerardo. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters; Zoila Gerardo and husband Jesus of Liberty, Juanita Castro and husband Victor Sifuentes of Liberty, Zita Castro of Liberty, brother; Irineo Castro, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services for Refugio Castro will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 at Allison Funeral Service from 5pm to 8pm.

Fregia

Clarence Fregia 76, of Hull, Texas died on Tuesday March, 3 2015, at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday March, 7, 2015, at 10:00 A.M at Faith & Family Funeral Services with Reverend Jeff Blizzard and Darryl Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta, Texas. The family will be receiving friends on Friday March, 6, 2015, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Faith & Family chapel.

Clarence was born in Liberty, Texas, on October, 15, 1938 and had lived in Hull, Texas all of his life. He was a machine operator for Smalley Construction of Liberty, Texas.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, of Saratoga, Texas. he was preceded in death by his son in law, Jack Hanks, sisters, Elvira Sims and Ruby Edmonds. Brothers, Vivian Fregia and Alvin Fregia and grandson, Brent Fregia.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Claudine Fregia of Hull, Texas. Sons, Gary Fregia and wife Jessie of Hull, Texas, Clifford Fregia and wife Ruth of Hull, Texas. Daughters, Brenda Young and husband Howard of Hull, Texas, Ruby Hanks and Pam Fregia both of Hull, Texas. Brother, L.T. Fregia of Liberty, Texas, and sister, Katherine Pastorick of Batson, Texas. Grandchildren; are Michael Fregia and wife Amanda of Daisetta, Texas, Raye Ann Massey and husband Deke of Vidor, Texas, Destiny Jannise and husband Michael of Houston, Texas, and Ray Fregia, and Bessie Fregia both of Hull, Texas. Great- grandchildren; Brayden and Bryce Fregia of Daisetta, Texas, Lanie and Cami of Daisetta, Texas, Mason Massey of Vidor, Texas, and Torrie and Brandice Smith of Daisetta, Texas.

Gresham

Wendell F. Gresham, 74, of Dayton, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in a local nursing home in Baytown.

He was born on October 10, 1940 in Appleby, Texas to Aaron and Essie Gresham.

He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Essie Gresham, wife Betty Scarberry Gresham, son Wendell Gresham, Jr., sisters Mary Gresham Webb and Ellen Gresham Rawlinson; brothers Bobby Gresham, Leslie Gresham, Dan Gresham, A.M. Gresham, and Bill Gresham.

Wendell was a member of the Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge No. 312 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by his son Bobby Gresham and wife April; daughters Traci Gresham Lopez and husband Andrew and Cathy Gresham Kay and husband Mark; brothers James Gresham and Max Gresham; grandchildren Tyler Lopez, Brandon Gresham, Meagan Gresham, Samantha Kay, Jessica Kay and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will be on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, with a Masonic service beginning at 7:00 P.M..

A visitation will also be on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Dickie Allen Funeral Home, 989 7th St., Cushing, Texas, 936-326-4531, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, with a graveside service beginning at 11:00 AM in McKnight cemetery, Cushing, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas 77535.

Stokes

Michael W. “Mike” Stokes, 62, of Dayton, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, at the Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center in Liberty.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter.

Mike was born April 17, 1952 in Mobile, Alabama, to parents; Clarence V. and Christine Myers Stokes, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in Dayton for the past 16 years. He was a veteran of the US Army achieving the rank of sergeant first class, and a retired operator from Simpson Paper Mill in Pasadena. He also enjoyed motorcycles, working on cars, and barbecues.

Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 44 years: Caroline S. Blair Stokes of Dayton, son: David W. Stokes and wife Jennifer of Dayton, daughters: Sherry Brown and husband Jason of Baytown and Melissa Jones and husband Aaron of Baytown, brothers: Charles, Pat, David, and Joe Keefer, sisters: Paula Stevenson, Emma Kirk, and Diane Washington, five grandchildren with one on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Presnull

Beverly June Ray Presnull, 72, of Ace, Texas, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at a local nursing in Shepherd, Texas.

She was born September 28, 1942 in Cleveland, Texas to Walter and Margaret Ray.

She was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Thelma Quinn and brother Walter A. Ray.

Mrs. Presnull is survived by her daughter Tammy Presnull; son Walter Daniel Presnull; sisters Lillian, Mary Helen and Rachel; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A visitation with the family will be on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., with funeral services beginning at 11:00AM, with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas 77535.

Lack

Benny Davis “Ben” Lack, 65, of Dayton, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015, a the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Ben was born March 28, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama, to parents; Ben F. and Betty Sue Cole Lack, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 12 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, truck driver for American Road Transportation, and attended the Maranatha Church. He also enjoyed fishing, 4-wheelers, and remote controlled vehicles.

Mr. Lack was preceded in death by his parents, grandson: Trent Newman, sister: Kay Denton, and brother: Tab Lack. He is survived by his wife of 30 years: Debra Freeman Lack of Dayton, daughters: Julia Lack of Pearland, Sheila Carpenter and husband Brett of Baytown, and Carrie Smith of Alabama, brother: Merle Lack and wife Debra of Pearland, grandchildren: Heather Kelly and John Holcomb, Dylan Myers, Austin McMillan, Drake Smith, and Kadence Smith, great-grandchildren: Tyler Holcomb, Breanna Holcomb, and Kaleigh Holcomb, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Nash

Raymond R. Nash, 76, of Dayton, died Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Raymond was born September 1, 1938 in Rome, Georgia, to parents; Raymond L. and Lillian G. Marshall Nash, a former resident of Galveston, and has resided in Dayton for the past 16 years. He was a graduate of Milby High School class of 1957, a former Eagle Scout, former police officer for Atlanta, Georgia, as well as a former volunteer firefighter and reserve police officer for South Houston. He served in the US Army, US Navy, Texas Air National Guard, and retired from the US Air Force. Raymond also enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, and socializing.

Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Joyce M. Connaly Nash of Dayton, daughter: Sue A. Nash and husband Eric Bragg of Cove, sons: Jason R. Nash and wife Loretta of Hardin, Ronald W. Nash and wife Michelle of Hardin, George W. Milner and wife Vickie of Oklahoma, Garnett E. "Bubba" Milner and wife Valerie of Georgia, and Robert Nash of California, grandchildren: Brittany Stuessy and husband Jake, Shelby Monroe and husband Kellan, Whitney Milner, Katelynn Nash, Aaron Nash and Emily Hracek, Trevor Nash, Lily Nash, Noah Nash, Cody Bradshaw, Dylon Bragg, and MyKaela Bragg, great-grandchildren: Brentlee Nash and Kaylyn Hracek, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
