Thompson

Joyce Elaine Thompson, age 86, formerly of Liberty, TX passed away on February 28, 2015 in Centre, Alabama.

Joyce was born February 10, 1929 in Mansfield, Louisiana, daughter of the late Samuel and Nancy Scott. She married John P. Thompson Sr on February 25, 1956. They were married for fifty years and together they had five children, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was a housewife all of her life and loved to sew and paint.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; Samuel & Nancy Scott, husband; John Thompson Sr, daughter; Nancy Johnson, son-in-law; Andrew Johnson and five sisters.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons; John Thompson Jr and wife Nona, Michael Thompson and wife Pennie, daughters; Joyclyn Rusk and partner Dana Worley, Naomi Herrington and husband Quinten, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Joyce Elaine Thompson will be Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10am at Cooke cemetery in Liberty, TX. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Williams

Clara Lee Williams, 57, of Cleveland, Texas, born on February 5, 1958, in Fred, Texas. She died February 27, 2015.

Leaving behind to cherish her precious memories are: her husband; Ray T. Williams. Two-sons; Wayne West and James Weston. Six grandchildren; Kristopher West, Alex Kosack, Pachantz West, Randy Roy West, Mia Weston and Dillon Lastonzita; Siblings: Margaret Smith, Criket Friega, Mable Hicks, Buddy Willson, Rusty Willson, also numerous nieces and nephews friends and family.

Visitation: Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Wells Funeral Services Chapel, 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas.

Graveside Services at Williams Family cemetery, 360 County Road 2554, Cleveland, Texas 77327 on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, 1:00 pm.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Mettlen

Terry Wayne Mettlen, age 59, of Liberty died February 25, 2015 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown after a brief illness.

He was born in Anahuac, Texas on October 16, 1955 to A.B. and Myrtle E. Mettlen. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1974.

He was the owner of Printed Impressions in Liberty and was big help to Anderson’s Bar-B-Que. He enjoyed going to the drag races with his friends, classic cars, and anything red with flames on it.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and his late wife, Carolyn A. Mettlen.

He is survived by Linda Anderson Mettlen, Tisha LeJeune and husband Mike, James Anderson, Jr., Brenda Anderson and Kettie Elkins. Grandchildren: Morgan Coker, Cory Elkins, Hunter, Brooklynn, Madison, and McKenzie Anderson and Trent LeJeune. In addition he leaves behind cousins: Marie Diaz-Henson and husband Karl, Mandy Ihuit and partner Johnny Patterson, and Sandra Helken and husband Gary, and special friends Skeet Raggio, David Norris, Jack Kinsey, Joel Bell, and David Perew along with other relatives and a host of friends.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A "Celebration of Life" for Terry Wayne Mettlen will be Saturday, March 7th at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church in Devers. Officiated by Brother Rick Edwards.

Bond

Jimmie Lee Wright Bond, 76, of Dayton, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 with burial following thereafter, at the Linney cemetery in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jimmie was born October 15, 1938 in Liberty, parents; Jim and Effie Weeks Wright, a former resident of Liberty, and has resided in Dayton for the past 19 years. She was a caregiver for many people through the years and enjoyed gardening, as well as tending to her yard.

Mrs. Bond was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 30 years: Warren Bond, son: Joel Davis, brothers: Dewey, Ronald, and Harold Wright, and sister: Margaret Griffin. She is survived by her daughter: Louella “Sissie” Holstein and husband Charles of Dayton; their son: Jeffrey Holstein, sons: James Davis and wife Linda of Diboll, Bryan Davis and wife Brenda of Liberty, Wesley Davis of Dayton, and Dru Bond and wife Lisa of California, sister: Virginia Huckabay of Utah, brother: Tommy Wright of Goodrich, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Silva

Sue Silva age 75 died Wednesday February 25, 2015 at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Sue was born September 19, 1939 the daughter of the late John Winger and Gwendolyn Sheffield Winger. Sue worked for over thirty years as a manager at the Liberty Wal-Mart. She was an extremely talented cook who always wanted to feed everyone. She especially enjoyed her time spent with her beloved family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters; Rebecca Heredia husband Alex of Houston and Debbie Tilton of Houston, six grandchildren; Chad Cobb, Amber Portis, Keisha Avrentz, Kara Tilton, Janet Potts, and Amanda Felts. In addition she leaves ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation for Sue will be held 5-8 P.M. Friday February 27, 2015 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services to be held 10AM Saturday February 28, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Cooke Memorial cemetery.

Simmons

M. J. Simmons, 91, of Dayton, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

M.J. was born in Rockdale, Texas to Robert and Margarette Simmons. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. MJ worked many years in the oilfield and owned numerous small businesses. He owned and operated Home Farm Propane in Dayton for 25 years. He was an active member of Grace Community Baptist Church and he enjoyed the fellowship with the members.

He liked to fish, loved to play dominoes (42 was his game), but most of all he enjoyed telling stories of his life to anyone who would listen.

He loved his wife and his children but his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. We loved him dearly and will miss him. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Mary Simmons, his son John C. Simmons, his parents and his brother.

He is survived by his daughters: Margaret Simmons, of Dayton, Rosemary Brothers and husband W.T., of Dayton and daughter-in-law: Susan Simmons, of Dayton; grandchildren: M.J., Katherine and Anna Brothers, Nicholas Saffel and wife Marina, Adam Saffel, and wife Aline, Lindsay Hanton and husband Shaun, Phillip Saffel and wife Amanda, Jonathan Davis who he thought of as a grandson and six great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special companion Dotty. He was crazy about his dog Dotty and she went everywhere with him.

A visitation with the family will be on Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 2:00 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., with the funeral services beginning at 3:30 P.M., with Pastor Wayne Hardin officiating.

Interment will follow in Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton, Texas.

Pallbearers for Mr. Simmons will be Adam Saffel, Nicolas Saffel, Phillip Saffel, Jonathan Davis, Billy Joe Simmons, Larry McNulty, Billy Wayne Cox and Bobby Cox Jr.

In lieu flowers, donations may be made to Grace Community Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 545, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas 77535.

Wood

Randall Logan Wood, 17, of Dayton died Monday, February 23, 2015.

Randall was born January 28, 1998 in Houston, Texas. He attended Dayton High School and he enjoyed playing video games (Pokemon, Skyrim, Borderlands, and Dishonored were among his favorites) he also liked to hang out at the mall with his friends and was an avid player of Magic: The Gathering. He also liked to lay around on the couch and watch TV shows with his big sister, who will always save a spot for him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents William (Bill) and Carolyn (Zaruba) Cox and James Wood and Sara Lewis.

Randall is survived by his mom and dad Debra and David Wood and sister Emily; uncles and aunts: Nell and husband Barry Johnson, Norris and wife Celenda Cox, Randy and wife Jana Cox, Donna and husband Larry Beran, Dana and husband Gary Holmes, Ricky and wife Debbi Dixon, and Jesse and wife Abby Wood. He is also survived by many many relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.

A visitation with the family will be on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas.

A celebration of Randall’s life will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Linney cemetery.

Randall's family wishes to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this difficult time. It is all treasured.

Pallbearers for Randall will be Bradley Galluegus, Travis Mourer, James Donovan, Kyle Brill, Ricky Dixon and Bill Johnson.

Jackson

Ida Jackson 94 of Ames, Texas died Sunday February 22, 2015.

Visitations will be held on Friday February 27, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Services Chapel. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Lie-In-State from 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM, and Rosary at 10:30AM following with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Ayo Efodigbue, MSP is officiating.

Interment will be in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic cemetery, Ames, Texas.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Citizen

Janice M. Citizen 59, of Ames, passed Feb. 18, 2015.

Service will be Feb. 28, 2015 at Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist Church 801 Sam Houston St. Liberty, TX. Visitation will begin at 11AM until Funeral at 1 P.M.. Interment will be in Wells cemetery, Liberty, TX.

Cherishing her memories are mother: Mary Roy, children: Eric Roy, Keith Citizen and Alonzo Citizen. Siblings: Sharon Jordan, Barbara Pryor and Ivy Ndikanwu. 4-Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Family is being cared for by Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac, TX.

Walker

Shirley A. Walker 53, of Winnie, TX died Feb. 23, 2015.

Services will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at St. Paul Baptist Church 303 ½ E. 1st St. Stowell, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until Funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Winnie.

Cherishing her memories are children: Dalesha James (Patrick) and James Harbor Jr. (Alesha). Siblings: Clarence Tezeno (Peggy), Jimmy Tezeno (Matilda) of Winnie, Darrell Tezeno of Houston, Jeanella Bushnell (Michael) and Gloria Young of Beaumont. 6- Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews other relatives and friends.
