Falk

Rosa Lee Falk, 89, of Dayton, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Silsbee, Texas. Mrs. Falk was born on September 17, 1925 to John and Ethel Shipman.

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd (Sonny) Falk, son Clifford Sprayberry, Jr. and grandson Tracy Lee Symmank.

Mrs. Falk is survived by daughter: Annetta Kay Symmank and husband Joe; son: Donald Frank Sprayberry and wife Suzanne; stepdaughter: Sandy Campbell; stepson: Ronnie Falk; grandchildren: Wendy Dupree and husband Bobbie, Heather Pourteau and husband Chris, Theresa Stewart, Angie Falk, Clyde Slate, Gracie, Sophia, Cameron, Victoria, four great grandchildren and numerous relatives and other friends.

A visitation with the family will be on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00AM, in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Palms Memorial Park Dayton, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Falk will be Jimmy Shipman, Fred Barton, Cameron Walker, Troy Barton, Bobby Dupree, Joe Banning, Bryan Douzat, Chris Pourteau, Joe Symmank, Ronnie Falk, Kenny Ethridge, Kenneth Barton, Phil Billedeaux, Johnny Shipman and Sam Parker.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas 77535.

Russell

Lois Inez Russell, 89, of Liberty, Texas was called home on Tuesday, January 21, 2015.

She was born in Riverside, Texas on February 14, 1925.

Lois was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Russell, Jr., and son Robert E. Russell, III.

She was the best mother she knew how to be with the knowledge and resources that she had. Lois imparted a wealth of knowledge to her children. She taught them to live off the land, to grow a garden, make a quilt and how to make homemade butter. She loved tending her chickens and on Sunday’s, she made the best fried chicken and homemade yeast rolls. She also instilled honesty and integrity in her children and she was a devoted wife and a great mother and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her sons; Bill Russell and wife Frances, of Dayton, Texas, Edwin Russell and wife Robin Kay, of Valliant, Oklahoma, Bruce Russell, of Highlands, Texas, Anthony Russell and wife Jerri, of Stroud, Oklahoma and Kelley Russell and wife Renee of, Russellville, Arkansas; daughters; Marie Shepard, of Houston, Texas, Betty Cox and husband Lewis, of Alto, Texas, Inez Frye and husband Claude, of Dayton, Texas, Roberta Fregia and husband Tommy, of Hull, Texas, Sue Wille and husband Harold, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Annette Chambers, of Cleveland, Texas and Caroline Russell, of Crosby, Texas; brother; Wilbur Morgan, of Riverside, Texas; sister; Ruby Leviness, of Livingston, Texas; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other relatives.

A visitation with the family will be from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at New Life Assembly of God Church, 42493 Hwy 105, in Baston, Texas, where funeral services will be at 11:00AM with Bro. Bill Campbell officiating.

Mrs. Russell will be buried in Davenport cemetery in Davenport, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas 77535.

Brown

Mary Louise Wilkinson Brown, 79, of Dayton died peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2015 at home.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Dayton, Texas with Rev. Ken Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery, Dayton. Visitation for Mary will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mrs. Brown was born December 12, 1935 in Anderson, South Carolina to parents Major Harry John Wilkinson and Jimmie Louise Dodd Wilkinson of Clemson, S.C.. She was a graduate of Clemson High School and attended Clemson State College, Winthrop College and Lee College. Mary was an executive secretary for Eli Lilly & Company, a paralegal, a secretary for Judge Boots Krueger and held a realtors license but spent most of her life helping the family farm operation as secretary.

Mary and her husband Gene began farming in Dayton with Elmer and Maebeth Pruitt in 1963. Soon after they began farming with three of Gene's brothers, farming rice, soybeans, san augustine grass, milo and other crops in the Dayton area as Brown Brothers Farms. The farm also owned and operated 3 grain elevators in Beaumont, Nome and Dayton. Gene and Mary also raised cattle and 5 children.

Mary was an avid fisherman, even fishing in Bass N Gals tournaments in Arkansas, Texas and La. She instilled a love and appreciation for animals and nature in all of her children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Bass‘n Gals Association, Eastern Star, the Pilot Club, Texas Farm Bureau, and Texas Cattle Raisers Association.

Mary Brown was preceded in death by her parents of Clemson, SC and her brother Harry Wilkinson of Pendleton, SC and her daughter-in-law Brenda Brown. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gene Arnold Brown of Dayton; her children, Donnie Lloyd Brown of Dayton, Wade Brown of Tarkington Prairie, Jerry Brown and wife Lorraine of Dayton, Mary Catherine Wilson and husband Ralph of Dayton, Gena Hanagriff and husband Roger of Huntsville; grandchildren, Brett Brown, Brent Brown, Rhett Wilson, Audrey Brown, Boyd Hanagriff and Samuel Hanagriff; great-grandchildren, Logan, Tyler, and Brynlee; sisters-in-law, Betty Brown of Dayton, Waltraut (Margie) Brown of Austin and Nancy Wilkinson of Pendleton, SC; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Bagwell

Eda “Deede” T. Bagwell age 85 died January 18, 2015 in Beaumont.

Deede was born in Phoenix City, Alabama July 1, 1929 the daughter of the late Elias Richard Robertson and Hattie Leola McCall Robertson. Deede along with her husband R.J. were the owner and operators of Royal Variety in Daisetta. She enjoyed reading, going to the beach, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing cards and dominos.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Royal J. “R.J.” Bagwell, brothers; Charles S. Robertson, Roy W. Robertson, E.R. Robertson Jr. and James Robertson sisters; Lottie Estelle Roberts, Annie Louise Cochran, Myrtle Leola Michel, Elissa Merle Rigdon, and Carrie Kathleen Mahon.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Michael Bagwell and wife Sheryl, Richard Timothy Bagwell and wife Pat, Anita Patricia Wadenpfuhl and husband Sonny, and Tammy Kathleen Powell and husband Lesley. In addition she leaves eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held Thursday January 22, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 10AM Friday January 23, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Guedry cemetery, Batson, Texas.

Broxson

Edna Belle Broxson, 72, of Kenefick, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles.

Born on March 24, 1942 in Merryville, Louisiana to her parents, Wilburn Martin Broxson and Ella Mae (Pollock) Broxson, she lived in Kenefick for the Last 6 years and had previously lived in Orange. Edna was a Homemaker and a member of the Kenefick Baptist Church in Kenefick. Edna was a very kind hearted person who assisted in the raising of many children in addition to her own; she enjoyed shopping, sewing, listening to music and spending time with her family.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Aaron Lynn McKnight; her grandsons, Jeremy Vercher and Jason Vercher and the father of her children, Joe Max McKnight. Those who will both cherish her memory are her daughters, Gladys Ross and husband, Clyde Hedrick of San Leon, Texas and Connie Bankston and husband, Woody of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; her son, Joe Allen McKinght of Kenefick; her sister, Helen Collins of Meridian, Mississippi; her brother, Walter “ Lucky “ Broxson and wife, Mitzy of Indiana; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Graveside services to remember and honor Edna’s life will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Day, pastor of the Kenefick Baptist Church. A gathering of Edna’s family and friends will be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 Wednesday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Interment will follow services and condolences may be expressed for the family at www.dormanfuneralhome.com

Sikes

Andrew Levi Sikes lived a full life of honorable service to God, Country, family and friends.

He always encouraged young people to excel by example and admonishment. He was a true of a military hero, leader in his church, community, and home.

Andy Sikes was born to Ola Irene Sikes and John Andrew Jackson Sikes in Keltys, Texas May 25, 1922 and died in Pearland, TX January 17, 2015. He is preceded in death by Ethylene Shivers Sikes and June Maxine Sikes, along with his brother Lawrence Sikes. His is survived by his sister Gail Abner of Aiken, South Carolina, children Andrew Lonnie Sikes, Gwen McDonald, Laura Ann Gibson, and Fred Skinner: plus 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Andy grew up in East Texas, graduating from Jasper High School. He entered Texas A&M College in the Class of 1946. His education was interrupted by service in the WWII Army Air Corps. After nineteen combat missions over the South Pacific and parachuting out of one burning B-24, he finished his military service flying missions in the United States. During his service he received a Purple Heart, WWII Victory Medal, Air Medal, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Philopeans Libertaition Ribbon, and American Theater Ribbon as well as five Battle Ribbons.

In 1949 Andy graduated from Texas A&M College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. This degree led to a career with Gulf Oil Corporation. On his second tour with Gulf Oil, he spent 8 years as chief facility engineer in Nigeria. In between his two terms with Gulf Oil, Andy worked for Boeing Aircraft Corporation in Seattle and New Orleans. During this time he earned an award for meritorious service on the Apollo/Saturn Mission.

At all times in his efforts, Andy was a moving force in the development of churches. He was a founding member of a mission church in Mercer Island, Washington, became a deacon in Slidell, La., served as deacon of First Baptist Church of Lagos, Nigeria. Andy used his business connections to aide in securing building permits for a mission church in there. He was also a deacon of South Main Baptist Church, Houston, TX while attending SMBC’s mission church in Sugar Land, TX. Andy spent over 40 years as a deacon of First Baptist Church, Hull, TX.

Between work and church Andy lived a life of community service, art, fishing, and wood working. He acted as a clown with Lions Club in Seattle and Slidell, La. In Hull, Tx. Andy supplied the nursery with wooden toys made in his home shop.

Andrew Levi Sikes was a true Christian patriot carrying the word of Christ to the World in all of his endeavors. Each of his awards and accomplishments exemplify his strength through Jesus Christ. The world is a better place after the life of Andy Sikes.

A funeral service will be held 11AM Wednesday January 21, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Hull with a visitation to be held one hour prior. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday at Magnolia cemetery in Woodville, TX .

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Andrew’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Hull Early Childhood Education Fund 1 FM 834 Hull, Texas 77564

Etress

Ralph Paul “Bama” Etress, 50, of Dayton, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Bama was born January 20, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama, to parents; Ernest E, Sr. and Polly Ann McDaniel Etress, a former resident of LaPorte, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 14 years. He was a graduate of the Pascagoula High School, a former Westlake and Old River Volunteer Firefighter, former employee of Zachary, and was a pipefitter and crane operator by trade. He also enjoyed fishing, riding bikes, and kayaking.

Mr. Etress was preceded in death by his daughter: Ashley Ann Nicole Etress and father: Ernest E. Etress, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Mandy Dickey Etress of Dayton, daughters: Kayla Etress of Dayton and Lisa McKnight of Dayton, mother: Polly Ann McDaniel Etress of Dayton, sister: Rene’ Etress Smith of Dayton, brother: Ernest E. Etress, Jr. and wife Lucila of Carrizo Springs, special niece: Athea Davis, and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Williams

Mary “Madea” Dossie Taylor Williams Age 89 died Thursday January 15, 2015 at her home in Ames.

Mary was born in Arnaudville, LA, September 25, 1925 the daughter of the late Frank Offie Taylor and Hazel Gordon Taylor. Mary worked for over twenty seven years for Diamond Shamrock as a reproduction clerk. She was a member of the Our Mother of Mercy Church in Ames and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and children.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sisters; Lona M. Joubert, Rita V. Alpough, and Rosalie Taylor Jones, and a brother Terry Taylor.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons; James R. Williams Sr. (Shirley), Glenn F. Williams, Reuben C. Williams Sr., daughter Carolyn Williams-Walker (Larry), sister Linda Valyan (Willie), step-daughters; Doris Williams, Margaret Strain (Kenneth). Her beloved grandchildren; Shani Spears (Darren), Reginald Rollins (Christina), Glenn Gerald Williams, David Gee (Tonya), Reuben Williams II, James Williams Jr., and Nicole Williams. Mary also leaves seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition Mary leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held 11AM Saturday January 24, 2015 at Our Mother of Mercy Church, Ames, Texas, with a Rosary service to be held at 10:30AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mary’s memory to Our Mother of Mercy Church.

Sartin

Cecil Edward Sartin, 75, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at San Jacinto Methodist hospital in Baytown, Texas.

He was born July 22, 1939 in Palestine, Arkansas to parents, Jeff Talley and Jennie Soley Sartin.

Service for Mr. Sartin will be held Tuesday January 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Reverend Wes Foster will officiate. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday January 19, 2015 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Pallbearers will be, Stephen Sartin, Timothy Sartin, Jonathan Sartin, John Martinic and Paul Martinic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 50 years: Betty Lou Maddox Sartin, brother: Vernon Sartin and sisters: Martha Guenther and Catherine Carter.

Mr. Sartin had been a resident of the Dayton/Kenefick area for more than 40 years years. Cecil served proudly in the United states Air Force from 1958 – 1969. After his military service Cecil became an agent for American National Life Insurance Company, where he worked until his retirement. Mr. Sartin attended First Assembly of God church in Dayton, Texas. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting or tinkering with old cars. Cecil enjoyed meeting people and had an easy laugh. He especially loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Cecil is survived by his sons: Anthony Sartin and wife, Sue, David Sartin, Robert Sartin and Tim Sartin and wife Stacie; brothers: Harry Sartin, Charles Sartin and Jeff Sartin; sister: Joan Barron; grandchildren: Stephen Sartin, Brittany Kirkpatrick, Timothy Sartin, Jennifer Shuman, Taylor Sartin, Jeana Sartin, Kelsey Sartin, Jonathan Sartin; great grandchildren: Zackary Sartin, Waylon Sartin, Jaxson Sartin and Raelynn Sartin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
