Lee

Billie Ruth Smith Lee, 74, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at home in Hardin, Texas.

She was born December 13, 1940 in Liberty, Texas to parents, Elvin H. “Bo” and Vernice Wells Smith.

Service for Mrs. Lee will be held Tuesday January 20, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Reverend Tony Hines will officiate. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday January 19, 2015 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Pallbearers will be; Wayne Holman, Jim Moffett, James Holman, Ralph Clark and Casey Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 53 years; Larry Joe Lee.

Mrs. Lee had been a resident of Hardin for 23 years and previously resided in Baytown. She was a graduate of Tarkington High School class of 1958. Billie had obtained had attended business school and worked many years as an accountant. She was a member of Hardin Baptist Church. Billie enjoyed hunting, fishing, travelling and gardening. But what brought her the most joy and contentment was time spent with her family; she especially loved her time spent with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Lee is survived by her daughters: Cindy Barham and fiancé Lee of Baytown and Kristi Jones and husband, David of Dayton; brother: Charles Smith; grandchildren: Kelsey Alayne Jones, Kameron Lee Jones, and Sarah Elizabeth Barham, Joshua Tanton and Madison Tanton; great grandchildren: Sadie Grace Jones and Jace Tanton, special friend: Barbara Nugent; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Richter

Marie Louise Curlee Richter age 94 of Port O’Conner died Saturday January 17, 2015 at Magnolia Healthcare in Liberty.

Marie was born in Houston, Texas July 27, 1920 the daughter of the late Burt Irvin Curlee and Mattie Louise Bolling Curlee. Marie was owner and operator with her husband Lee Richter of Pasadena Outboard for over thirty years. They later went on to open Port O’Conner Marine.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Lee Richter and a grandson Ronnie Lee Richter.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Leah Marie Richter Griffin and husband Ken of Port O’Conner, sons Robert L. Richter and wife Penny of Covington, Alabama, and Mark D. Richter and wife Autumn of Mont Belvieu, sister Dorothy Dean and husband Tommy of Silsbee, and six grandchildren; Michael Richter, Danielle Richter, Kaytlin Engleherdt, Hailey Richter, Tyler Richter, and Ian Richter. In addition she leaves sixteen great-grandchildren.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Services 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marie’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarrior.com.

Turner

Marguriette “Margo” Turner, 87, of Anahuac, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015. She was born on December 28, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas to Sam and Mollie Morris.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac. She retired from Security State Bank both in Anahuac and Liberty after many years of service and enjoyed both her co-workers and her customers.

She and her husband John enjoyed many years of adventures traveling in their motor home. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Margo was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Turner, one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Johneta Turner: son Jim Collins: son Mike Turner and wife Bette: grandchildren: Wes Pogue and wife Beth, Amy McCracken and husband John, Kim Miller and husband Dewayne, Krissy Turner, Tex Collins, and ten great grandchildren.

A visitation with the family will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Wes Pogue and Rev. Kelly S. Krone officiating.

Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St., Anahuac, Texas 77514.

Lloyd

Annie Bea "Boots" Lloyd, 84, of Moss Hill, and Marysee community died on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Marysee, with Reverend Carlton Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. The family will be receiving friends on Friday January 16, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mount Calvary Church.

A native of Batson, she had lived in Moss Hill, for 48 years and was a Cook, for Hull Daisetta Independent School District for 10 years. She was also a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Marysee.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Strahan, Jack Strahan, and Billy Strahan and sisters, Dorothy Hart and Yvonne Largent.

Survivors are husband, Dorman Ray " Buddy" Lloyd of Moss Hill, son, Gary LeNormand Sr. and wife Esther of Moss Hill. Sister, Alice Fay Jacobs of Batson. Grandchildren are, Yvette Staton of Northville, Michigan, Gary LeNormand Jr. of Richmond, TX, Garrett Wayne LeNormand of Hull, Angela Cook of Baytown, and Steven Sellers of Moss Hill, and 13, great grand children. Serving as pallbearers are, Curtis Ray Johnson, Al Johnson, Terry Jacobs, Gary LeNormand Jr. Garrett LeNormand, and Gary LeNormand Sr. Honorary pallbearer is Steven Sellers.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. 40847 Hwy 105 E. Batson, Texas 77519.

Modzelewski

Rhonda Yvonne Modzelewski, 54, of Pine Ridge Community, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas.

She was born June 21, 1960 in Kountze, Texas to Lee Roy and Hazel Marie Tatom (Foster). She was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church. She worked at Dairy Queen for many years, and J&R Meat Market where she touched so many lives. She was a loyal and caring person to her family and her many friends. We will treasure every memory and moment she gave us in her lifetime. We will keep her in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Hazel Tatom; her daughter, Misty Dawn Modzelewski. Survivors include her children, Alecia Colwick of Pine Ridge, Caleb Modzelewski and wife, Ashley of Lake Charles. Her cherished and beloved four grandchildren; her brothers, Jerry Tatom and wife Cyndi, and Roy Tatom all of Sour Lake. Sisters, Linda Beggs and husband Bill, and Laura Pirtle all of Pine Ridge, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January, 17, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at The Pine Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend Drifty Cates officiating. A time of gathering of family and friends will be held also on Saturday January 17, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at the church

Maddy

Corwin D. Maddy, 79, of Houston died Monday, December 22, 2014.

He was born May 23, 1935 in Raymondville, Texas to parents Sylvester “Harvey” Maddy and Ruby Magdeline Reed Maddy. He was a graduate of Raymondville High School in 1953 and had been in sales for Eastman-Kodak before retiring. Mr. Maddy previously lived in Dayton. He enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Corwin was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children, Rita Faye Collins Maddy.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years: Maria Maddy of Houston; son: Scott Maddy of Dayton; Robyn Bell and husband Daryl of Liberty and Holly Maddy of Wellsville, OH; grandchildren: Matt Maddy and wife Shelly, Brian Maddy, John Maddy and wife Donna, Mark Maddy, Hannah Bell, and Presley Bell; seven great-grandchildren; brother: Ray Maddy and wife Barbara of Desoto; also numerous other family members and friends.

Private memorial services were held and graveside services are pending. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

West
November 27, 1976 - January 2, 2015

Teresa West was a resident of Moss Hill Texas. She was born on November 27, 1976 in Liberty, Texas. She departed this life on January 2, 2015.

Leaving behind to cherish her precious memories are, her mother and stepdad; Clara and Ray Williams. Her beloved sons; Kris West and Alex Kossak. Three brothers; Wayne West, James Weston and Anthony Williams. Two sisters; Shree West and Crystal Smith, and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at her parents residence on Saturday January 17, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. For further information contact Ray Williams at 281-223-0381.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Nichols

Henry Lee Nichols, 73, of Houston, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 in a local hospital.

Henry was born on January 31, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee to Henry and Hortense Nichols.

He served in the United States Army until he received his Honorable discharge in 1964, then Henry and Beverly built Uvalde Superette in the same year and Owned and operated it until the sale in 2001.

Henry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Beverly Jean Nichols; sons Brandon Nichols and fiancé Ashley McPherran and Arron Nichols.

A visitation with the family will be on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 6:00Pm until 8:00Pm at the Fellowship of The Nations Church, 13305 Woodforest Blvd., in Houston.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00AM in the Sanctuary of the Fellowship of The Nations Church, with Pastor Johnny Brady officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Park East cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas 77535.

Whitton

Clifton Clarence Whitton, 79, of Cleveland, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Montague cemetery in Cleveland. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Clifton was born August 7, 1935 in Coldspring, to parents; Clifton and Ida Bell Whitton, and has been a lifelong resident of Cleveland. He was a retired superintendent for the City of Cleveland Water Department after 40 years of service, member and deacon of Bear Creek Baptist Church, and member of the Green Forest Water Association for over 20 years. His involvement with the City of Cleveland over the years included; lifeguard for the city pool in 1958, garbage truck employee, Cleveland volunteer firefighter, and numerous employees of the month awards. He also enjoyed his tractor, working cattle, and especially his family and friends.

Mr. Whitton was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Johnny and Rosemond Whitton, sisters: Betty Bass, Agnes Lake, and Bell Hubier, and grandsons: Jason and Eric Whitton. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Mary Ellen Presnull Whitton of Cleveland, sons: Clifton Ray Whitton of Cleveland and Robert Clarence Whitton and wife Barbara of Cleveland, daughters: Karen Kirkland and husband Owen of Cleveland and Debbie White and husband Denny Ray of Cleveland, grandchildren: Jacob Kirkland, Cody Zeagler, Kristy Currie, Justin White, Daniel Whitton, CJ Whitton, Shona Turner, Joe Amburn, and Jake Amburn, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Walker-Davis

Ruth Louise Walker-Davis was born in Houston, Texas on June 21, 1939 to Desmoines Green and Mildred Marion Ware Walker.

Ruth was united with Christ at an early age at Northside Antioch Baptist Church, Houston, Texas. She united with Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Hardin, Texas and was a member until her death. Ruth held many positions at Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, including youth director (over 30 years), usher, Mission president, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School director and teacher, program committee chairman, benevolent committee member, new membership committee member, and food committee.

Ruth was an active participant in the Trinity Valley Baptist District Association for many years. She taught in the Congress of Christian Education for many years and even served as secretary to the Dean, serving under several Deans. She worked tirelessly in the Annual Session in the Women’s Auxillary and was usually involved in the Queen’s Pageant, taking several young ladies from Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church to compete.

Ruth completed LVN training and was employed as a nurse at Yettie Kersting Memorial Hospital and Autumn Hill Convalescent Home. After graduating from Lamar University, Ruth was an educator for Liberty County Co-Operative for Special Education, Beaumont ISD, Dayton ISD, and Liberty ISD.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father and mother; sons, Gary Bernard Davis and James Leslie Davis, Jr.; and brother, Thurman Moody.

Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memories: husband, James Leslie Davis; daughters, Jacqueline Davis, Venus Booker (Earnest), Donneshea Cook (Earl), Bonita Davis (Richard), and Morika Davis; brothers, Lawrence Walker, Roy Walker (Ruby), Alfonso Moody, Jr. (Alphoree), Charles Moody (Debbie); grandchildren, Rasheeda Davis, Erica Guerrero (Anthony), Leslie Davis, Fallon Kitchen (Jeremy), Terence Booker, Patrick Cook, Hunter Davis, Chance Ardoin, Devin Cook, and Savannah Ardoin; great-grandchildren, Anthony Guerrero, Jr., Nicholas Guerrero, Maya Porter, Kayleigh Fregia, Kierra Davis, Tillman Hawkins, Raniyah Hawkins, Tristen Davis, and Nasir Kitchen.

Services will be Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 5830 FM 1011 (Hardin, TX) Liberty, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until funeral at 11AM. Interment will be, Jan. 15, 2015, 1:15 P.M. Gate Time in Houston National cemetery, Houston, TX.

Mrs. Davis’ Family has chosen to allow us, Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac, the honor of caring for her remains.
