Funeral arrangements for Coleman A. Pate are pending at Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.

Mr. Pate died Sunday at the University of  Texas Health Center in Tyler.

Evelyn Kimbrell

A private memorial service will be held for Evelyn Kimbrell.

Mrs. Kimbrell died Sunday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
She was born in Bullard to Alvin W. and Cassie Tarrant Henderson.

Mrs. Kimbrell graduated from Palestine High School. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Floyd “Lefty” Henderson; and Thurston Henderson; and sister, Sue Bryan.

Mrs. Kimbrell is survived by her husband, Ed Kimbrell of Palestine; sisters, Helen Braly of Three Rivers, Eloise Buchanan of Duncanville, Pat Kennedy of Lake Jackson; and Vivian Beard and Bobbie Denson, both of Palestine.

Thelma Anderson

Funeral arrangements for Thelma Anderson, 96, of Palestine, are pending at Herrington/Land of Memory.

Ms. Anderson died today at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Dorothy Fowler

Funeral arrangements for Dorothy Fowler, 51, of Dallas and formerly of Palestine, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fowler died Saturday in Dallas.

Olga Jimenez

Services for Olga Cortez Jimenez, 55, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Iglesia Evangelica Pentecostes El Sinai at 902 S. Fulton St. in Palestine. Burial will follow at Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Telesforo Castro officiating.

Emanuel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jimenez died Saturday at her residence.

She was born Sept. 1, 1945, in Valle Hermosa, Mexico to Jacinto Cortez Rosalz and Angela Martinez Vda de Cortez.
Mrs. Jimenez was a member of Iglesia Evangelica Penecostes El Sinai.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo Fuentes Jimenez, in 1997; her parents; and brothers, Cruz and Alberto Cortez.

Mrs. Jimenez is survived by sons, Jose Cortez, Gilberto Cortez and Alex Jimenez, all of Palestine; and siblings, Yolanda Castro of Palestine, Delfina Martinez, Martha Cortez, Rebeca Cortez, Noe Cortez, Mose Cortez and Ismael Cortez, all of Reynosa, Mexico.

Keller Bob Whittington

Services for Keller Bob Whittington, 86, of Oakwood, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mr. Whittington died Friday in Oakwood.
He was born Feb. 6, 1916 in New Brunfel, Ala. to Vandervelt and Nona Byrd Whittington.
Mr. Whittington served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and received an honorable discharge. He was employed as a longshoreman for many years.
He was preceded in death by six siblings.
Mr. Whittington is survived by daughters, Paula Whittington of Oakwood and Helene Davis of Sargota; a brother, Howard Whittington of North Carolina; sisters, Leona Maddox of Florida, Thelma Flower of Alabama, and Ona Cook of Alabama; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Howard Lee Gore

Services for Howard Lee Gore, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at The Church of Christ in Freeport. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gore Family Cemetery in Oakwood under the direction of Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson.
Mr. Gore died Tuesday.
He was born Dec. 2, 1930 in Oakwood. He owned Howard’s Refrigeration Services in South Houston until he retired in 1992. He won the  Texas Water Safari canoe race several times.
Mr. Gore was a member of the Church of Christ and worked for many years at the Main Street Church of Christ in South Houston.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Gore of Churchill; children, Donna Kay Gore-Freiburger, Sandra Waiser, Mark Howard Gore, Patricia Sass, Jennifer Aguirre, Kevin Tansey and Lisa Brewer; siblings, Dale Rabon, Lloyd Gore, Mack Gore, Sue Duck and Roy Gore; and 16 grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ernest “Ernie” Dale Williford

Services for Ernest “Ernie” Dale Williford, 58, of Huntsville, and formerly of Fairfield, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Lynn Williford officiating. Burial with TDCJ honors will be at 4 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mr. Williford died Monday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 24, 1944 in Freeport to Clarence “Bill” and Elma Ivy Williford.
Mr. Williford served in the National Guard during the  Vietnam War. After working many years as a welder, he became an occupational instructor for Windham School District and retired after 13 years with the  Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a safety officer.
Mr. Williford was a Mason and attended Family Faith Church in Huntsville.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lynn Williford of Huntsville; sons, Allen Ray “Bubba” Williford and Billy Dale Williford, both of Huntsville; daughter, Donna Pinon of Huntsville; sister, Shirley McKinney of Elkhart; stepchildren, Steven Williford of Quinlin, Rhonda Mitchell of Teague and Joey Hankins of Edna; and 10 grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be James McAlpin, David Granger, Bruce Greigo, Tommy Dye, Steven Williamson and Joey Hankins.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Patricia Jean Cordell

Services and visitation for Patricia Jean Cordell will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Cordell died Saturday evening.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Cordell; mother, Jean Pantel; daughter, Ricki Cagle; sisters, Judy Scogins, LaRae Pantel and Robbie Pantel; brother, Jim Pantel; and two grandchildren.
The family requests flowers, cards and any memorials may be sent in care of Ricki Cagle, 306 Second St., Palestine,  Texas, 75803.

Rev. Preston Edwards Sr.

Funeral arrangements for the Rev. Preston Edwards Sr., 92, of Longview are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.
Rev. Edwards died Tuesday night at Merritt Plaza Rehab Center in Marshall.

Sammie “Jack” Graham

Funeral arrangements for Sammie “Jack” Graham, 69, of Tennessee Colony, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Graham died Tuesday in Longview.

Moises DeLeon

Funeral arrangements for Moises DeLeon, 37, of Riverside, and formerly of Mexico, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. DeLeon died Tuesday in Riverside.

Charley Akerman

Services for Charley Akerman, 87, of Stephenville, and formerly of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Zacharias Kunnakkattuthara officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. military honors will be provided by VFW Post 3907.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel.
Mr. Akerman died Wednesday in Glen Rose.
He was born March 25, 1915 in Sacred Heart, Okla. to John Akerman and Cora Waldrip Akerman.
Mr. Akerman was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine. He was an Army veteran who served in the Pacific theater during World War II. Before retiring he worked as a car man for the railroad. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907.
Mr. Akerman was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hendricks Akerman, in 1985.
He is survived by daughters, Mary Bedre of Palestine, Pauline Conley of Glen Rose and Dorothy Asker of Loveland,  Colo.; sons, Paul Akerman of Palestine and Anthony Akerman of Humble; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Akerman, Bubba Bedre, Brian Bedre, Jason Akerman, Russell Conley and Ben Watson.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sammie Lee Williams

Services for Sammie Lee Williams, 66, of Montalba, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Tabernacle Church in Chandler with the Rev. Malachi Micheaux officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Montalba under the direction of the Brook Sterling and Garrett Funeral Home of Tyler.
Mr. Williams died Monday morning at a Tyler hospice.
He was born May 13, 1936, in Montalba to Elbert H. and Guida Coleman Williams.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.
He is survived by his son, Samuel Williams; sisters, Leathia M. Day, Jerri Lean Kimbrough, Glory J. Shaw, Louise Gray, Shirley  Jackson and Patricia Paul; and brother, Herman C. “Noisy” Williams.

Ola Bell Bass Rodgers

Services for Ola Bell Bass Rodgers, 81, of Houston, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. James Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Houston Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rodgers died Monday in Houston.
She was born Nov. 18, 1920 in Palestine to Oscar Sr. and Lucinda Crist Bass.
Mrs. Rodgers attended Palestine schools and was a lifetime member of Pilgrim Hill Baptist Church. She worked as a laboratory assistant in a Houston clinic.
Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Shelly Rodgers; brothers, Edward, Wilbert, Robert, Percy Sr., and Oscar Bass Jr.; sisters, Esther Mae Smith and Alice Mae Hollis.
She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Williams Barker of Houston; a sister, Lenora Bass Parker of Houston.
Pallbearers will be Reginald Barker, Larry Bass, Johnathan Deckard, Pleas Hollie Jr. and Tommy Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Pilgrim Hill Baptist Church.
The family will receive condolence calls from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Vernon “Pig” Leroy Morgan

Services for Vernon “Pig” Leroy Morgan, 63, of Palestine, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel.
Mr. Morgan died July 9 at Palestine Healthcare Center.
He was born Sept. 3, 1938 in Dallas to Vernon Walter and Lillie Bernice Ball Giles.
Mr. Morgan was raised in Kilgore before moving to Palestine six years ago. He was an antique furniture refinisher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Morgan, in 1991.
Mr. Morgan is survived by daughter, Jennifer Parker of Palestine; brothers, Timmy Morgan and Donnie Reid, both of Kilgore; sister, Becky Dillard of Kilgore; and three grandsons.
Condolence calls will be received at the home of Jennifer Parker.

Ommie Baker

Services for Ommie Baker, 73, of Lubbock, was held at 2 p.m. today at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse  Johnson officiating. Burial was to follow at Jimmerson Quarters Cemetery in Tennessee Colony under the direction of Ossie Curry Funeral Home of Lubbock. Local arrangements are being handled by Davis Funeral Home of Palestine.
Mrs. Baker died Sept. 18 in Lubbock.
She was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Anderson County.
Mrs. Baker lived in Lubbock for 17 years, coming from Seminole. She attended Providence School in Anderson County. She was a Baptist.
She married A.C. Baker Sr. in January 1945.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband on May 5, 1992.
She is survived by her mother, Eliza Hamilton of Lancaster; sons, A.C. Baker Jr. and Theressie Baker, both of Arlington, and Howard Baker of Austin; daughters, Beverly Chatman of Amarillo, Brenda Young of Alexandria and Shelia Hawthorne of Irving; sisters, Jackie Gavon of Houston, and Maudie Ellis and Annie Langford, both of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
