Irby

Marilyn Jean Warner Irby, 81, of Dayton died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at home after an extended illness.

She was born September 5, 1933 in Brainerd, Minnesota to parents, Floyd Brue Warner and Ruth Bessie Young Warner. She attended Barbers Hill schools and had previously lived in Batson. Mrs. Irby lived her life taking care of her family and will be truly missed by all of them.

Graveside Service form Mrs. Irby was1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Guedry cemetery in Batson under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Serving as pallbearers are Justin Foster, Cody Douzat, Kade LaFrance, Colby LaFrance, Kory LaFrance, and Taylor Irby.

Mrs. Irby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, A.D. Irby, and four sisters. She is survived by her children: Pat Hellums and husband John of Dayton, Shirley Dillard and husband Roy of Old River, Dan Irby and wife Brenda of Anahuac, Don Irby and wife Susan of Warren, David Irby & wife Janet of Killeen; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; brother: Buzz Warner of Minnesota; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Landry

Allen Wayne Landry, age 79 of Liberty, passed away in Kingwood, TX on October 22, 2014.

Allen was born February 21, 1935 in Baytown, TX, son, of the late Allen James Landry and Juanita Rose Landry. He graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School and then attended two years of college at Texas A&M University. Allen was a rice farmer for seven years and then was the owner and operator of Landry Welding Service for fifty-two years. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed doing stain glass art work. Allen’s passion in life was always helping people. He will be missed by all.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, wife of fifty-seven years; Rosa Lee Landry, sisters; Suzette Davenport and Shirley Jean Landry. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son; Kim Wayne Landry and wife Lisa of College Station, TX, daughter; Kindra Hefner and husband Steve of Kingwood, TX, brother; Calvin Landry and wife Ester of Brenham, TX, grandchildren; Cody Landry, Hayden Landry, Ashten Landry and Haley Hefner. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Allen’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Services for Allen Wayne Landry will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at the chapel.

Merrill

James Edward Merrill 66, of Saratoga, died on Monday October 20, 2014 at his residence with his loving wife and family by his side.

A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday October 23, 2014 at 10:00A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel in Batson. Interment will follow at Pine Ridge cemetery in Sour Lake, with military honors. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday October 22, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel.

James was born September, 7, 1948 in Kountze, TX to parents; Archie E. Merrill, and Aline A. Brown. He had lived in Saratoga, for forty years and had worked as an Oilfield Sales Representative for Basil's Oilfield Services of Saratoga. James was a U..S. Marine Corp. Veteran who faithfully served his country and fellow man. He had earned The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Rifle Badge, and Sharpshooter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Archie E. Merrill and Aline A. Brown. Brother; Clayton Gilbert Merrill, and sister; Rita Mae Merrill. Survivors are his wife of forty years Phyllis Elaine Merrill of Saratoga, nephew; Dakota Ryen Smith of Saratoga, special squirt Savannah Mae Blanchard of Saratoga. Brothers; Enoch Allen Merrill of Stephenville, TX, Emmett Orland Merrill of Stephenville, TX, and Robert Louis Merrill of Livingston, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones and a host of friends. Serving as pallbearers are Dakota Ryen Smith, Lawrence Albert, Blanchard, Kenneth E. Fregia Jr. Anthony Stephen Fregia, Morgan Lee Blanchard, and Noah Kolten Fregia and numerous honorary pallbearers.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. 40847 Hwy 105E. Batson, Texas 77519.

Brothers

Reverend Roger Neil Brothers, 54, of Saratoga, died Sunday October 19, 2014.

He was a minister, musician-song writer and great teacher of the Word. He pastured five churches and evangelized full time for 15 years from the East Coast to the West Coast. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who had a contagious laugh.

He spent his last two years pioneering the 123 Church in Hardin.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Brothers; brother, Donald Ray Brothers; sister, Diana Gail Brothers and grandson, Christian Malachi Campbell.

He is survived by his loving wife Connie Renee Brothers of Saratoga; mother, Ermadean Lois Brothers of Prairieville, LA; children, Christopher Neil Brothers and wife Maria of Liberty, Deonna Kamar Campbell and husband Michael of Saratoga and Jonathon Wacey Brothers and wife Michelle of Conroe; sisters Loyce Hollingsworth and husband Travis of Central, LA, Nancy June Messer and husband Thurston of Prairieville, LA and Patsy Jo Love and husband Gary of Belton and 14 grandchildren.

His family will receive friends Tuesday October 21, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church of Batson. A service of remembrance will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday October 22, 2014 at New Life Assembly of God Church of Batson, officiated by Reverend Chad Buttrey. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery in Liberty.

Potts-Cole

Della Mae Potts-Cole, 92, of Dayton, died Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home prior to services. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Della was born September 12, 1922 in Elysian Fields, to parents; James Westmoreland and Ovie Gaddis, a former resident of Willis, and has resided in Dayton for the past eight years. She was a former cashier from W.T. Grant Store in Northshore, attended the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed quilting, fishing, and trips to the hunting camp.

Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Claude Cole, Sr., and brothers: James and Ralph Westmoreland. She is survived by her son: Wayne E. Potts and wife Carol of Dayton, sister: Bernie Schaffner, stepsons: Sam Wayne Cole and wife Sandy, Claude E. Cole, Jr., and numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Ford

Milo Westel Ford, Jr., 96 of Dayton died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 19, 2014.

Services for Mr. Ford will be 3:30 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Dayton with Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Serving as pallbearers are Randal Arnold, Larry Harris, Vohn Myers, John Otto, Mike Scott, Dr. Robert Seaberg, Ralph Villermin, and Larry Wadzeck. Honorary Pallbearers are Boyd Arnold, Dr. Henry L. Dugat, Sr., Mark Morefield, David Parker, Carl Pickett, Roy A. Seaberg, Steve Stephens, Dr. Reginald Wilson, Lester Ray Wisegerber, Jim Woodall and the Disciples’ Class.

He was born May 26, 1918 in Houston, Texas to parents Milo Westel Ford, Sr. and Ella Fay King Ford. M.W. was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he was a 1936 graduate of Dayton High School. He started working at Dayton State Bank during his freshman year of high school as the janitor and part-time help on Saturdays wrapping coins. He retired as President of the bank in 1987 but continued to serve on the Board of Directors. He was a 1940 graduate of Rice University where he remained a member of the Rice University Alumni Association. He proudly served his country during World War II as Captain in the United States Army Air Corp.

The First United Methodist Church was very important to M.W. He was recently honored as a 75 year member. He had been organist and pianist for the First United Methodist Church for about 70 years when he retired at the age of 91. M.W. served in many capacities at the church, Lay Leader of Houston North District of United Methodist Church, Treasurer of Houston North District of United Methodist Church, Council on Ministries of Methodist Church, treasurer of the First United Methodist Church, member of the Disciples’ Sunday School Class and the board of development of Lon Morris College.

M.W. was very active in his community serving as a member of many clubs and organizations. He had been the Mayor of Dayton, a Liberty Hospital Trustee, Board of Director of Dayton State Bank, Advisory Director of Security State Bank, treasurer of Dayton Masonic Lodge, member of Liberty/Dayton Art League, member of the Beaumont Art League, advisory member of Board of Directors of Dayton Community Development Corporation, member of the Drainage Board, member of the Shriners, member and treasurer of the Magnolia Park cemetery. He was a member of the Texas Bankers Association where he was recognized for his 50 plus years of service.

Mr. Ford was a longtime member of the Dayton Rotary Club and was honored by receiving the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. In 1983 he received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Liberty-Dayton Chamber of Commerce. M. W. and his late wife Dorothy were honored this past weekend by the Dayton Historical Society by hosting the Dorothy and M.W. Ford, Jr. Art Exhibit at the Old School Museum. He not only had a love for art, but loved to travel, read, work puzzles, play dominoes, and enjoyed going to the beach. He loved his family, his community, his church and his God.

M. W. was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 57 years Dorothy Fay Russell Ford, granddaughter Elizabeth Bajgier, sisters Allene Ford and Boonie Ford, brother Dr. George David Ford, and nephew David Westel Ford. He is survived by his daughters, Gina Bajgier and husband Gary of Houston, Dr. Jessica Johnson and husband John of Dayton; grandchildren, Sam Mazzu, III & wife Tracie, Dorothy Jo Landry & husband Ryan, Boone Bajgier and wife Rebecca, Esther Bajgier, Ruth Ann Bajgier and William Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Mason Milo Landry, Georgia Mae Mazzu, and Ella Fay Landry; also numerous other family members and friends.

Claxton

Gena Carol Allen Claxton, 54, of Cleveland, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Concord cemetery in Rye. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Gena was born December 26, 1959, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to parents; Douglas Tryant Allen and Lynda Lee Freeman, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Cleveland for the past three years. She was a cosmetologist by trade and member of the Cornerstone Church. She enjoyed her work and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Claxton was preceded in death by her father: Douglas Tryant Allen and mother: Lynda Lee Freeman Townsend. She is survived by her sons: Richard Travis Claxton, Jr. of Pasadena and Nathan Daniel Claxton and wife Kaitlynd Constance of San Antonio, brothers: Randy Allen and wife Brenda of Dayton and Douglas Allen of Dayton, sisters: Vanessa Picazo and husband Juan of Cleveland and Nicole Langford and husband Lance of LaPorte, grandchildren: Presleigh Nevaeh Claxton, Payton Mercy Claxton, and Halo Renee’ Claxton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Matthews

Antoinette “Ann” Mitschke Matthews, 75, of Splendora, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital of The Woodlands.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens in Cleveland. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Ann was born September 17, 1939 in Houston, to parents; A. O. “Tony” and Violet Mae Redwine Mitschke, and has resided in Splendora for the past 40 years. She was a homemaker, member of the Splendora Church of Christ, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed fishing, the beach, going to the theatre, and her "Sister Days".

Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her parents: Tony and Mae Mitschke and brothers: Patrick and Tony Lyn Mitschke. She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Elster C. Matthews of Splendora, Sons: Charles Atwood and wife Donna of Humble, Jimmy Atwood of Splendora, and James Matthews and wife Ruth of Conroe, sisters: Deborah Richardson and husband Bobby of Splendora and Denise Dean and husband Kenneth of Splendora, grandchildren: Amanda Preece, Christine Ogle, Courtney Reese, Billy Atwood, Stephanie Robertson, Derrek Atwood, Ruben Ramirez, and Rachelle Carter, great-grandchildren: Zoe Robertson, Kamryn Preece, Anthony Preece, Kyra Reese, Avery Robertson, Gunnar Matthews, Melanie Preece, Lillian Ogle, Molly Robertson, Hunter Matthews, Matthew Preece, and Ellie Robertson, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Baughman

Emma Jean Baughman, age 85, of Ace, TX died peacefully at her home on October 18, 2014.

Emma was born April 4, 1929 in Liberty, TX daughter, of the late Isham Younger Herndon and Elsie Antoinette Matthews Herndon. She was the owner and operator of her club. Emma loved her family and life. She always had a smile on her face and she never was seen in a bad mood. She will be missed by all.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Jack and Wally Herndon, sisters; Martha Dillard and Barbara Lambert. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters; Sharon Escobar and husband Eloy of Dayton, TX, Cathy O’Hara of Ace, TX, grandchildren; Blake Higginbotham and wife Alicia of Cypress, TX, Tosha Wade of Austin, TX, Jeremy Burkland and wife Chelsey of League City, TX, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Emma Jean Baughman will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 2pm at Liberty City cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service from 12pm to 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Sandles

Stacie Roshawn Sandles, 43, of Liberty, Texas died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Liberty, Texas.

Visitation is Monday, October 20, 2014 at Trinity Valley Baptist Church, 801 Sam Houston St., Liberty, Texas from 09:30 am to 11:00 am with celebration of life to begin at 11:00 am.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street in Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Interment will be in Wells Memorial cemetery in Liberty, Texas

Herford

Dustin Travis Herford, 34, of Sour Lake, died Thursday October 16, 2014.

He was an animal lover. He loved his horses and teaching children about horses. He also loved his family and lots of friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hansford and Patricia Travis; brother, Ethan Herford and uncle, Johnny Holston.

He is survived by his parents Jay and Skyla Herford of Kountze; grandparents, Benny and Imogene Herford of Sour Lake and bother, Justin Cody Herford of Sour Lake.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Sunday October 19, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday October 19, 2014 at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Bill Fabriguze.

Davis

Reagan Elizabeth Davis, infant daughter of Marcus Davis and Amber Volkots, died in Beaumont, TX at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on October 14, 2014. She was born on October 14, 2014 in Beaumont, TX.

Reagan was preceded in death by her great-grandmother; Patricia Volkots, great-grandfathers; Donald Volkots, William Thibodeaux and Isaac Davis. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her parents, grandmothers; Regina Volkots of Liberty, Senora Davis of Liberty, grandfathers; Jeffrey Mederious of Liberty, Milton Davis of Houston, great-grandmothers; Florence Thibodeaux of Liberty, Georgia Davis of Beaumont, aunts; Jessica Mederious of Houston and Ashley Davis of Liberty.
Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Services, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, Texas. A memorial service is scheduled at a later date.
