Hunt

Christopher Lynn Hunt, 22, of Dayton, passed away Saturday September 28, 2014.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Liberty. He was employed at Sorrell Tree and Lawn Service since he was 17. He was a fun loving young man who was looking forward to the birth of his first child., Christopher Ray Hunt.

He is survived by his fiancé, Megan LaVergne of Daisetta; step-daughter, Gracelynn Hilton; biological father, Charles Sorrells and wife Bonnie of Dayton; mother, Tracy Hunt and husband Thomas Hunt (adopted father) of Georgia; brothers, Christopher “Big Chris” Hunt, Jeremy Hunt, Brian Hunt, Chayse Sorrells, Johnathon Sorrells, Jordan Roberts and Casey Roberts; sister, Kristy Spencer and many friends.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 18, 2014 at Central Baptist Church of Liberty, officiated by Reverend Harry Laxton.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

DeBlanc

Timothy Wayne DeBlanc 53, of Ames, TX; passed Oct. 13, 2014. Services will be Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at Trinity Valley Baptist Church, 801 Sam Houston St, Liberty, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Wells cemetery.

Timothy attended West Liberty High School in Liberty, TX. After completing his education he found work in many different arenas, where he was known as a, “Jack of all Trades”. His final occupation was a mechanic's assistant at Liberty Dayton Chrysler.

He met the love of his life Renia Kirkwood in 1989. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anybody in need.

Cherishing his memories are mother: Leona Barnes, the Love of his Life: Renia Kirkwood, children: Brandon Cole, Robert Lee Kirkwood, Jade Kirkwood and Patrick Kirkwood. Brothers: Patrick DeBlanc and Carl DeBlanc. 7-Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews other relatives and friends.

The family is being cared for by Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St., Anahuac, Texas. ” We Make The Difference” (409) 267-3122.

Votaw

Georgia Lee Votaw, 94, of Dayton died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Liberty Healthcare Center.

Georgia was born December 30, 1919 in Kountze, Texas to John Henry and Artie Simpson.

Georgia was retired from AT&T having worked as a telephone operator in Kountze, Liberty, and Houston. Her hobby was cooking and she loved taking care of her family, neighbors, and friends.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse Votaw, granddaughter Karla Votaw.

Cantu, and sisters Audrey Work & Rissie Brown.

Mrs. Votaw is survived by son, George Votaw and wife Iva of Kenefick; daughter, Betty Kersh and husband Tommy of Dayton; three grandchildren, Kevin Votaw of Dayton; Shelia Homeyer and husband Carl of Caldwell, Michael Kersh and wife Mariana of Mahomet, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren, Rhea Cantu, Madison, Abby, Ernie, and Tess Homeyer, Benjamin and Sofia Kersh; sister, Ida Mae Pope of Beaumont, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Georgia will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeff Day officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, Friday, October 17, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenville cemetery in Kenefick following the service.

The family wishes to thank Liberty Healthcare Center and Altus Hospice for Georgia’s care and also to the excellent caregivers she had at home for three years prior to going to the nursing home.

Scott

Juanita Abshier Scott, age 95, died Tuesday October 14, 2014 in her home in Jonestown, Texas.

Juanita was born in Daisetta, Texas, April 9, 1919, the daughter of the late Roy Abshier and Mattie Lou Finley Abshier. She was a very active volunteer for children’s charities and organizations. Juanita also was the founder of the International School of Kuwait, and was a member of P.E.O., an organization for the advancement of women. Juanita was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Lappe’ Scott, brothers Roy Abshier Jr, Jeff Abshier, and George “Pat” Abshier, and her sisters Willie Jo Brandt and Sue Carmichael.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Hugh L. Scott Jr. and Paul Craig Scott and four grandchildren Katherine Cezeaux, Lauren McCarthy, Paul Scott, and Roy Bray. In addition she leaves four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 12:30 P.M. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at City cemetery in Lib

Dewey

George Edward Dewey, 78, of Dayton died Monday, October 13, 2014 at home after a brief illness.

He was born March 1, 1936 in Merryville, Louisiana to parents, George Dewey and Ethel Harvey

Dewey where he was a 1954 graduate of Merryville High School. Ed served in the United States Army. He attended McNeese University majoring in Geology and later attended Stephen F. Austin College where he received his master’s in education. Ed had lived in Dayton for the past 50 years after moving from Lake Charles, Louisiana. He retired from Exxon in Baytown where he worked for 25 years. Ed was a member of Central Baptist Church, American Legion #512, Louisiana Mayhaw Association, and NRA. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and was well know in this area for his mayhaw jelly.

Services for Mr. Dewey will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harry Langston officiating. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Buddy Dewey, and sisters, Opal Miller and Marie Bennett. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Boone Dewey of Dayton; daughter, Susan LaFour of Dayton; son: Skip LaFour and wife Eva of Galveston; grandchildren, Kris LaFour and wife Sally and Morgan LaFour Butler and husband Howard; great-grandchildren, Ty, Dylan, and Brady LaFour; sister, Lousie Drounette of Sulphur, Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Johnson

Mitzi Cassandra (Hanks) Johnson, 38, of Dayton, lost her battle with a terrible disease and joined her family and our dear lord in Heaven on Friday, October 10, 2014.

A new Angel gained her wings and Heaven gained a wonderful beautiful soul. While our hearts here on earth break we are at peace knowing she is no longer in pain and will forever be watching over us all. Rest in peace Mitzi we will forever love and miss you until we meet again.

Mitzi is preceded in death by her parents George Thomas Hanks Jr., and Caren Ann Hanks, daughter Kasey Cassandra Johnson and brother Richard Lynn Hanks.

She is survived by her children Kayden Wayne Johnson and Kaylee Ann Davis; sister, Kimberly Ann Taylor and husband Dan; brothers: Thomas DeWayne Hanks and George Wesley Hanks; step sister Katy Faye Hanks.

A visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. in Dayton, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM.

Graveside services and interment will be on Wednesday, at 2:00 P.M. at Concord cemetery, in Rye, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers for Mitzi will be George Wesley Hanks, Thomas DeWayne Hanks, Dan E Taylor,
Edward Lavalley, Michael Graves and Pat Nichols.

Funeral services are under the directions of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Taylor

Tracy Kaye Taylor of Hardin, Texas died on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Baytown, Harris County, Texas.

Services for Miss Taylor will be held, 2:00 p.m., Monday October 13, 2014 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton, Texas. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin, Texas.

Tracy was born May 6, 1968 in Houston, Harris County, Texas to her parents; Clifton Wayne and Rebekah Marcell Childress Taylor. She was a member of Heights Baptist Church in Liberty, TX and attended Tri-County MH/MR Lifeskills in Liberty for twenty years.

She was preceded in death by her father: Clifton Wayne Taylor; grandparents: Cliff and Ida Lee Taylor and Marvin and Ruth Childress all of Houston, Texas and uncle: Ronald Childress of Kountze, Texas. Miss Taylor is survived by her mother: Rebekah Marcell Taylor; sisters: Wendy Pete & husband, Bob of Texarkana, Texas and Kelly Robertson of London, England; Nephew: Micah Pete; Uncle and Aunt: Tom and Jean Taylor of Flatonia, Texas, and numerous cousins and loving friends.

Hales

Kadence Marie Hales infant daughter of Caleb and Amber Hales passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014. She was born September 28, 2014 in Houston.

Graveside services for Kadence will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Ryan cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Kadence was preceded in death by her great-grandparents: George Hales, Charles Weaver, & Louise Weber. Kadence is survived by parents: Caleb & Amber Hales; grandparents: Dewayne & Ellen McCartney, Wesley & Debbie Hales; great-grandparents: Phillip Bourgeois & Carol Pate, Faye Weaver, & Billie Herrin; great great-grandmother: Jewel Herrin; brothers: Ryan, Wesley, Coleman, & Preston; sister: Madison; aunts: Christina Moore & husband Josh, Sara Herrin, & Cynthia McCartney; uncle: Michael Herrin; numerous other relatives and friends.

Jones

Alice Shirley LeJune Jones, 80, of Liberty, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton, with burial at 4:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn cemetery in Beaumont. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Shirley was born April 14, 1934 in Beaumont, to parents; Bertrand and Naomi Shaffer LeJune, a former resident of Alabama, and has resided in Liberty for the past 32 years. She was a homemaker, attended North Main Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading and her bible.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years: Kyle E. Jones, father: Bertrand LeJune, mother: Naomi Shaffer LeJune, daughter: Debbie Wirick, grandsons: Stephen Scott Campbell and Kevin Jones, sisters: Pat Kittell and Palma LaPoint, and brother: David LeJune. She is survived by her daughter: Cheryl Lynn Jones Stubblefield and husband Eric of Dayton, son: Kyle Eugene Jones, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Vidor, grandchildren: April Watson Alford and husband Doug, Christian Eugene Stubblefield and wife Angelica, and Cheryl Jones, great-grandchildren: Kevin Jones, Lane Alford, Hunter Alford, Elijah Campbell, and Autumn Alford on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pulley

James Henry “Jim Baby” Pulley, age 88 of Liberty, died October 7, 2014 in Winnie, TX.

Jim Baby was born August 2, 1926 in Aspen Hill, TN, son of the late Edward Boaz Pulley and Dewesee Porter Pulley. Jim Baby was in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1947 and then spent many years in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the National Labor Union, lifetime member of the VFW and member of the Elk’s Lodge in Liberty. Jim Baby loved to fish, going to cook offs with his late wife, Mable and doing charity work for the Shriners. He also loved to feed his birds and squirrels. He will be missed by all.

Jim Baby was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Mable Pulley, brother; Edward Boaz Pulley Jr and sister; Teresa Pulley. He leaves behind to cherish his memory sisters; Nancy Carolyn Marks of Tennessee, Peggy Joyce Godsey and husband Bill of Tennessee, brother; William Neal Pulley and wife Charlotte of Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for James Henry “Jim Baby” Pulley will be Friday, October 10, 2014 at 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 1pm to 2pm at Allison Chapel.

Godfrey

Wallace Godfrey, 91, of Hankamer, Texas died Friday, October 03, 2014 at a local hospital in Winnie, Texas.

Visitation is Friday, October 10, 2014 from 09:30 am to 11:00 am at Church of Christ in Hankamer, Texas. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Troy James officiating.

Interment will be in Richardson cemetery in Hankamer Texas.

Cross

Patrick Eugene Cross, age 66, of Liberty died October 4, 2014 in Liberty. Patrick was born December 27, 1947 in Conroe, TX, son of the late Homer and Helen Angel Cross. Patrick was a pipe fitter and worked for Exxon.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife; Donna Cross of Liberty, daughters; Robynne Leipold and husband Ernest of Spring, Rebecca Rouse of Ohio, step-sons; Edward Tanner and wife Linda of Liberty, Buddy Tanner of Liberty, Jonathon Tanner of Baytown, Cain Cole and wife Joy of The Woodlands, Sean Sellers of California, brother; Mike Cross and wife Charlotte of Houston, sister; Gwendolyn McClumg of Arkansas, step-brother; Billy Rosser and wife Marilyn of Jasper, two grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.

Private memorial services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.
