Caywood

Lynda Francine Withers Caywood, 70, of Dayton, died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with services concluding thereafter. Visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lynda was born December 21, 1943 in Post, to parents; Calvin and Zella Gray Withers, a former resident of Odessa, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 25 years. She was a graduate of the Andrews High School, a retired clerk for Finley’s Store, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, and cooking.

Mrs. Caywood was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years: Robert “Bob” Caywood, father: Calvin Withers, mother: Zella Gray Withers, and sister: Jan Gryder. She is survived by her sons: Calvin Pence and wife Dana of Old River and Philip Pence and wife Sue of Baytown, sister: Gay Ragland and husband Larry of Andrews, grandchildren: Hailey Pence, Colton Pence, Samantha Pence, Skye Pence, and Christopher Diberardino, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lowe

Mary Lee Lowe, 77, of Batson, died Friday, October 3, 2014. She enjoyed playing Dominoes and Bingo, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Cleo Lowe, Sr.; parents, Alfred and Helen Brown and brother, Oliver Brown.

She is survived by her children, James Lowe and wife Cindy of Shelbyville and Shelia Dagle and husband Gene of Batson; grandchildren, Talisa, Donnie, Luke, Ashley, Tommie, Patrick, Whitley, and Travis; great grandchildren, Blayne, Bailey, Clayton, Lance, Gracie, Dylan, Ally, Dillon, Treyson, Trinity, Dowl, Cole, Wednesday, Anniston and Dustin; 5 brothers and 5 sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Her family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday October 5, 2014 at Faith and Family Funeral Services. A service of remembrance will be 10:00 a.m. Monday October 6, 2014 at New Life Assembly of God of Batson, officiated by Reverend Darrell Brown and Reverend Herman Moore. Interment will follow at Blue Water cemetery near Segno.

Serving as pallbearers are Donnie Dagle, Jr., Blayne Fregia, Lance Lowe, Dustin Drown, Clayton Hanks, Trey Deckert, A.L. Brown and David Drown.

Hynson

Fredrick Earl Hynson, Sr., 47, of Lake Charles, Louisiana died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at home.

He was born June 1, 1967 in Dayton, Texas to parents, Henry Fred Hynson and Leona Briggs Carter. He graduated from Dayton High School where he played football and received a scholarship to Navarro College. Fredrick worked as a truck driver for 25 years before he recently retired. He continued his love for football being a big Texan fan. Fredrick enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren especially when they had gatherings and barbequing. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Services for Mr. Hynson will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton, TX with Father Sebastian officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 until 2:00 p.m. before the service on Saturday.

Mr. Hynson was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ruby Briggs, his father, Henry Fred Hynson, and his brother, Nathaniel Franklin. He is survived by his wife, Debra Manuel Fontenot Hynson; his mother, Leona Briggs Carter; daughters, Ashley Blackmon Hynson of San Francisco, CA and Andrea Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA; sons, Fredrick Earl Hynson, Jr. of Dayton, TX, Brandon Fontenot and wife Megan of Colorado Springs, CO, Cory Fontenot and wife Leia of Lake Charles, LA; sister, Angie Jackson of Atascocita, TX; brothers, David Carter, Jr. of Dayton, TX, Curtis Franklin of Bay City, TX and Darrell Franklin of Texas City, TX; grandchildren, Madison Fontenot, Kylie Fontenot, Payton Fontenot, Casey Fontenot, and Sterling Fontenot; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alfred

Mr. Elwood “Chief” Alfred 87, of Anahuac died Sept. 30, 2014.

Elwood was born September 13, 1927 to the late Valmout Alfred and Leah Richardson. He attended school in Eunice, Louisiana. He retired from the City of Anahuac. Chief was a faithful usher of Bright Light Missionary Baptist Church. Chief loved to fish and hunt. He married Lorraine Alfred on October 17, 1979.

He is preceded in death by the following: parents: Valmout Alfred and Leah Richardson; son: Johnnie “Soul” Alfred, step daughter: Helen Spencer, sister: Ethel “Momee” Gallow, brothers: Orice, Forest, Horace and Ozanius Edwards and Roy Alfred.

He leaves to cherish his memory and will be deeply missed by his daughter: Etonia Alfred, step daughters: Lois Sims and Linda Bias, step sons: Clifford Hardy, Tony Rivon, Donnie Coates, Ricky Coates, Ronald Coates, Robert Coates, Jerry Lewis, Jewel Lewis, Jimmy Lewis, and Tracy Coates, and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends;

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 04, 2014 at Lily of the Valley Church of God Of Christ, 1222 N. Main St. Anahuac, TX. Pastor; L. Walters, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9AM until funeral beginning at 11AM. Interment will be in Rivon cemetery, Anahuac, TX.

Barnhart

Lela Belle Barnhart, 74, of Batson, TX, died Tuesday October 1, 2014 at Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

She has lived in Batson since 1995. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God of Batson.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Barnhart; parents, Wallace and Mozelle Phillips; brothers, Wallace Phillips, Jr. and Gene Phillips.

She is survived by her ex-husband, Joe R. Barnhart Jr. of Batson; sons, Gary Barnhart and wife Leesia of Dayton and Keith Randall Barnhart and wife Jeanette of Baytown; brothers Pat Phillips of Uvalde and Ira Phillips of Dallas; sisters, Betty Reeves of Katy and Mary Domstead of Boerne, TX; grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher, Kendra, Tiffany, Little Joe, Stephanie, Kevin, Chris, and Dustin; great grandchildren, Cody, Jazmine, Jerrot, Shelby, Brianna, Morgan, Avery, Katelyn, Kolby, Alexis, Reagan, and Eason and her beloved Tia.

Her family will receive friends Friday October 3, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at New Life Assembly Church of Batson.

A service of remembrance will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 4, 2014 at New Life Assembly Church of Batson officiated By Reverend Bill Campbell. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Barnhart, Little Joe Barnhart, Christopher Whittlesey, Kevin Gilmore, Chris Gilmore and Dustin Gilmore. Honorary pallbearers are Kendra Whittlesey, Tiffany Rose and Stephanie Chance.

LaFour

Sidney Doyle LaFour, 45, of Old River, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services at 1:15 p.m., Monday, at the Houston National cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Sidney was born January 8, 1969 in Baytown, to parents; Edwin “Jack” and Emma Marie Hargrave LaFour, and has been a lifelong resident of the Dayton area. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1987, a veteran of the US Army, and a pipefitter by trade. He also was an avid fisherman.

Mr. LaFour was preceded in death by his father: Edwin “Jack” LaFour. He is survived by his son: Caleb B. LaFour of Crosby, daughter: Cheyenne N. LaFour of Dayton, mother: Emma Marie Hargrave LaFour of Dayton, brothers: Floyd LaFour, Edwin LaFour, and Paul LaFour, sisters: Linda Dixon and Cheria LaFour, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Archer

John Christian Archer, age 74 of Liberty, died September 25, 2014 in Houston, Texas.

John was born July 31, 1940 in Houston, TX, son of the late Harry Walter Archer and Lennie Christian Archer and moved to Liberty in 1945. John graduated from Liberty High School in 1958 and then received a Bachelor of Science degree from TCU in 1962. He then went on and received his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law. John was an Eagle Scout Order of the Arrow and attended the European Jamboree in 1957. While in high school, John was a member of the Declamation Team and he went to the state finals. He also lettered in Art. John served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. Upon graduating from law school, he went to work for Governor Price Daniels in the Office of Emergency Preparedness in Washington, D.C. at the White House. He then went to work for the American Gas Association in the office of congressional affairs. John worked for Brown & Root where he was Vice President of Congressional Affairs. John retired from the corporate world to become a partner of PAYS Law Firm (Parmer, Archer, Young & Steem) in Austin, Texas. John established his own law office in Liberty where he served as delinquent tax collector for many years. He served five terms as Liberty County Democrat Chairman and was very active in the Democratic Party. John enjoyed Art, cooking and reading. He had a real love for culture and was a civil War enthusiast.

John was preceded in death by his parents; Harry Walter and Lennie Christian Archer, sister; Carolyn Archer Eddleman, sister-in-law; Janet Mallory Harder and granddaughter; Ruby Love Scott. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of fifty years; Nancy Mallory Archer, daughters; Mallory Archer Samson and husband Bill, Carolyn Lenn Scott and husband John, son; John Christian Archer II and wife Catherine, grandchildren; Calvin, Spencer and Gigi Samson, Christian, James and Emily Archer and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Private graveside services for John Christian Archer will be Monday, September 29, 2014 at 10am at Cochran Family cemetery in Coldsprings, TX. Visitation will be Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Frewin

Betty Louise Frewin 85 of Liberty, Texas died on Tuesday September 23, 2014 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Hardin Chapel cemetery, in Hardin, Texas, with Reverend Woody Sonnier officiating. A native of Truman, Arkansas, she had lived in Liberty since 1989, and was a Meat Wrapper for Randall's Foods in Houston, Texas. Betty is preceded in death by her father; Alfred Pat Young and mother; Mineriva Jane Manners, husband; Walter W. Frewin Jr. Sisters; Anna Hinkle, Helen Grace Bates and Patsy Brown and a brother; William Ray Young. She is survived by her step-son; Butch Frewin and wife Rhonda of Cypress, Texas, daughters; Linda Adams and husband Kerry of Forney, Texas and June Stamper of Liberty, one sister; Diane Ashley of Magnolia. Grandchildren are Byron Weido, Jared Stamper, Kevin Weido, and Sean Adams. Great grandchildren are Kimberly Weido, Cory Weido, Kadence Stamper, Tori Stamper, Trevor Adams and Hayden Adams.

Perez

Roselia Perez, age 76 of Liberty, died September 25, 2014 in Humble, TX.

Roselia was born October 7, 1937 in Michoacán, Mexico, daughter of the late Jesus and Irene Gonzales Franco. She was a housewife all of her life and enjoyed working in her garden. Roselia loved to cook but mostly loved her children, grandchildren and extended family.

Roselia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Alfredo Franco, Gabriel Franco and sister; Angelina Franco. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of fifty-five years; Pablo Perez, daughters; Maria Villegas and husband Salvador, Gloria Perez, sons; Javier Perez and wife Esperanza, Ricardo Perez and wife Dioselina, Esequiel Perez and wife Rafaela, Fernando Perez and wife Celerina, David Perez and wife Yesenia, Eugenio Perez and wife Sonia, Eladio Perez and wife Guadalupe, sister; Claudia Perez and husband Isaias, brothers; Isaias Franco, Santiago Franco and wife Lucina, twenty-four grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Services for Roselia Perez will be Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 9:30amat Immaculate Conception Church, 411 Milam, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Liberty Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm with the rosary starting at 6:30pm.

Jones-Bush

Adeline Jones-Bush 82, of Liberty died Sept. 23, 2014.

Service will be Sept. 27, 2014 at St. John Baptist Church, 3709 N. Main St. Liberty TX. Visitation will begin at 10AM until funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Wells cemetery, Liberty.

Neal

Loretta Svoboda Neal, 55, of Cleveland, died Sunday, September 21, 2014, at her residence.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Loretta was born April 2, 1959 in Dayton, to parents; Joe F. and Georgia M. Buchta Svoboda, a former resident of Dayton as well as California, and has resided in Cleveland for the past 13 years. She was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1977, attended Sam Houston State University, and Catholic by faith. She enjoyed animals and anything to do with nature.

Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her father: Joe F. Svoboda, mother: Georgia Buchta Svoboda, and husband: Gary Neal. She is survived by her companion: Howard Lee Boatwright of Cleveland, sisters: Alice Svoboda of Dayton and Mary Jo Kuehn of Caldwell, brothers: J. T. Svoboda of Cibalo, Ervin Svoboda of McKinney, and Alan Svoboda of Houston, her beloved pets: Pistol, Two Spots, Rat, Skinny Fat, Dusty, and Brownie, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Deskins

Laurie Renee Deskins 37, departed this life on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at a Houston Hospital.

On May 6, 1977 a loving daughter Laurie Renee Deskins was born in Hammond Indiana, where she was reared as a child later she moved to Baytown Texas and graduated from Crosby High School.

After graduating from high school, she worked in Baytown, Texas until her untimely death. She was a fun loving and outgoing person. Laurie lost her battle with cancer, and was with her family and friends at the time of her death. Laurie will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death her grandparents Edward J. and Betty Ernst; her uncle’s Rick Ernst and Barrett Deskins:

Cherishing her memories, three children; one son Marquise Smith, two daughters; Kiana & Alicia St. Croix, Mother & Stepfather; Debra & James Szymaszek Father & Stepmother; Billy Sr. & Martha Deskins, Sister; Elaine Deskins(Ruben), Brother; Billy Deskins Jr.(Jamie), Half-sister; Cressie Deskins, (James), two Half-brothers; Chad Deskins(Jena), Jared Deskins (Cortney), one step-brother Joshua Szymaszek(Heather), three Step-sisters Jennifer, Kimberly and Beth Szymaszek.
