Reavis

Edward N. Reavis age 67 died Saturday September 6, 2014 in Texas City, Texas.

Edward was born in Liberty, Texas January 14, 1947 the son of the late Dewey Ryland Reavis and Christina Strahan Reavis. Edward worked for numerous years for Methodist Tri-Gas as an inside sales representative. Besides his love for his family, Edward also had a passion for fishing.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children; Gary Reavis and wife Maria, Kelvin Reavis and wife Jeanne, and Ben Reavis, brothers; Vernon Reavis and Gene Reavis, sisters; Charlotte G. Cooley and Mary Beth Stengler. In addition he leaves his grandchildren; Samantha, Kaymon, and Claire Reavis and a host of nieces and nephews. Edward will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday September 9, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St. Anahuac, Texas. Funeral Services will be held 10AM Wednesday September 10, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Hillyard to officiate. Burial will follow the service in Anahuac cemetery.

Heard

Mrs. Rita Smith Heard, age 95, of Anahuac died, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. James House in Baytown, TX.

Rita was born on August 22, 1919 in Crowley, Louisiana. A resident of Anahuac for fifty-six years, she had been a teacher’s aide in the Special Education Department at Anahuac Junior High School for ten years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Ashton and Annie Gremillion Smith, husband; John T. Heard and son; Allen George Heard.

She is survived by sons; John T. Heard Jr and wife Barbara of Kirksville, Missouri, Stephen A. Heard and wife Maureen of Seattle, Washington and James D. (Jim) Heard and wife Susan of Yorktown, Virginia, daughters; Linda Parish and husband John Howard of Anahuac, Anne Heard of Houston, Eugenia Heard of Anahuac and Marie Heard of Houston. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Cherie Sambrano and husband Troy of League City, Texas, Ashli Bertrand and husband Lane of Anahuac, Stephen A. Heard Jr. and wife Jennifer of Tacoma, Washington, John T. Heard III and wife Kristel of Sammamish, Washington, Stephanie Heard of Seattle, Washington and Christopher, Andrew, Katelyn and Samantha heard of Yorktown, Virginia and great-grandchildren; Cameron, Sydney and Brady Bertrand, Isabel and Sofia Heard and Cayden and Kenna Sambrano, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11am at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Anahuac, TX. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10am to 11am. Burial will follow at Anahuac cemetery.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, nurses and staff at St. James House, Audrey George and Joann Alexander for their excellent, Dr. Leonides and Lois Corner for their many years of exemplary care and concern. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. James House, 5800 West Baker Road, Baytown, TX 77520-1694 or the charity of choice.

Funeral services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral home, 1201 South Main, Anahuac, TX 77514.

George

Katherine Ruth Heckel George, 53, of Dayton, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 8, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Katherine was born February 13, 1961 in Jacksonville, Florida, a former resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and has resided in Dayton for the past three years. She was a consultant for Lofton Staffing Services and former board member of the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. George was preceded in death by her mother: Betty Jean Warren Waters, daughter: Caitlyn Grace George, and brothers: Roger, Kenny, and Danny Heckel. She is survived by her father: Harvey Alton Waters of Florida, sister: Elaine Fuller of Florida, brothers: Carl Heckel of Florida and Randy Heckel of Dayton, niece: Morgan Heckel of Florida, nephews: Brantley Heckel of Dayton and Kevin Fuller of Florida, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

McMillan

John E (Jack) McMillan, 89, of Moss Hill, Texas, formerly from Monaca, Pennsylvania died September 3, 2014 at his home in Moss Hill, Texas.

He was born July 13, 1925 and was the son of the late John H.E. McMillan and Pauline (Fischer) McMillan of Monaca.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Theresa R. McMillan, his son, John E McMillan Jr. (Mickey), his daughter, Kathleen R McMillan and a sister-in-law, Cecilia Barrett. Jack is survived by his siste, r Catherine McMillan, Los Angeles, CA, daughters, Patti Dicianna and husband Terry, The Villages, FL, Debbie Cain and husband Randy, Moss Hill, TX; grandchildren. Kristen Dicianna, San Antonio, TX, Kevin Dicianna and wife Tammy, Draper, UT, Buddy Covalt and wife Ashley, Hopwell, PA, Monica Weis, Lexington, TX, Kathleen McMillan, Center, PA, Danny McMillan and wife Angela, Douglasville, GA, Cody Cain and wife Bethany, Moss Hill, TX, Karli Cain, Kountz, TX; great grandchildren, Hayleigh Dicianna, Hunter Dymock, Kelsea & Jillian Dicianna, Alana & Jaxsen Covalt, Cody Mason & John Clyde Cain, and Nicolas Zapsic; sister-in-laws, Margaret Patterson and Gertrude Mellott; also other family members and friends

Jack was a WWII Vet proudly serving in the United States Navy. Following discharge he found employment with Arco Chemical of Potter Twp. where he retired after 35 years of service. Jack was born, raised and lived in Monaca for 80 years before moving to Texas. He was a life time member of the Beaver Valley Sportsman’s Club, Monaca, served for over 30 years with the Pennsylvania Fish Commission, Pennsylvania Game Commission Beaver County, Beaver County Sportsman Conservation League and was a member of the Beaver Valley Police Revolver League. He was a long time Pennsylvania Hunter Educational coordinator and instructor and he was heavily involved with the Beaver County Youth Field Days.

Jack was an avid reader. He and wife Theresa sponsored a brick at the Monaca Memorial Library. He continued his love for reading in Texas at The Liberty Municipal Library. He loved history, westerns, military and police novels. Jack was a history buff and loved to talk about US history, Pennsylvania history and his adopted state of Texas history. Jack’s other passion was his motorcycles. He toured 49 states only missing out on Alaska. He talked of the history and told travel stories often about each state visited. In his late golden years he maintained his sense of riding mastering a John Deere Z720A zero turn mower and took great pride in keeping 4 acres absolutely beautiful. He was affectionately known as “The Lawn Ranger!”

At a later date a private ceremony will be held by the family.

Doucette

John Robert Doucette, 73, of Cleveland, died Wednesday September 3, 2014.

He was born and raised in Oakdale, LA. His family moved to Saratoga when he was seven. He was an outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed a good joke and he was always there with a helping hand.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Mack and Elva Doucette.

He is survived by his daughters, Elva Marie Neil and husband Mike of Conifer, Colorado, Charlotte Dianne Freeman and husband J.B. of Shepherd, Sheila Pauline Wood and husband Michael of Splendora and Roberta Lynn Warren-Hooks and husband John of Kountze; brothers, Herman Doucette of Town Bluff, Frankie Doucette and wife Jessie of Wells, Evert Doucette and wife Patty of Tarkington Prairie, Ricky Doucette of Saratoga and Jesse Doucette and wife Teresa of Saratoga; sister, Melba Cochrell and husband Reece of Nacogdoches; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday September 5, 2014. A service of remembrance will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 6, 2014 at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Tony Current, Reverend Nathan Hendricks and Reverend Gene Denham. Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket.

Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Payton, Jesse Doucette, Harold Richard, Tony Hammond, Gary Paul and Scott Hatcher.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Smoke

Billy Charles Smoke, 72, of Liberty, died Thursday, August 25, 2014, at the Liberty-Dayton Regional Hospital in Liberty.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2014, at the Houston National cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Billy was born August 6, 1942 in Flat Creek, Alabama, a former resident of Mississippi, and has resided in Liberty for the past 34 years. He was a retired diesel mechanic, former employee of the Liberty Medical Mart, veteran of the US Army with service during Vietnam, and was Baptist by faith. Billy also enjoyed wood working and spending time with his family.

Mr. Smoke was preceded in death by his father: Talbert G. smoke, mother: Nola B. Poston Smoke, sister: Willie Louise Chewning, brother: Donald Ray Smoke, brother-in-law: Samuel Chewning, and grandson: Chet Smoke. He is survived by his sons: Todd Smoke and wife Suzy of Liberty and Greg Smoke of Liberty, brothers: Daniel and Mark Chewning, sisters: Chrissy, Becky, and Donna Chewning, grandchildren: Logan, Caleb, Dalton, Brianna, and Kellyn, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Orebo

Daniel Joseph Orebo, 80 departed this life, Saturday, August 30, 2014 at a Beaumont hospital.

Daniel Orebo was born to William Orebo and Josephine Guillory in Acadia Parish Louisiana on March 24, 1934. Daniel attended Blessed Sacrament School in Beaumont, Texas and had been employed by Baptist Hospital.

Daniel is survived by his wife Lillie M. Orebo, daughter Sharon Jones, grandchildren; Brandy Wickliff and Courtney Jones, 3-great grandchildren; Sierra Wickliff, Kierra wickliff and Emerie Wickliff, and sisters; Carolyn Antoine, and Clara Benoit. Daniel is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Wallace and William J. Orebo.

Visitation Services are Friday September 05, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wells Funeral Services Chapel.

He will lie in state, Saturday, September 06, 2014 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at Our Mother Of Mercy Catholic in Ames, Texas. Rosary will begin at 10:00 am and Mass will follow at 11:00 am.

Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery in Raywood, Texas.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Baldwin

JoArnette Baldwin 56, of Liberty died Aug. 30, 2014.

Services are Saturday, Sept. 06, 2014 at Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church, 808 Washington St. Liberty, TX 77575. Pastor Rev. L. C. Speights, Officiating. Visitation will begin at 11AM until Funeral at 1 P.M.. Interment will be in Acie cemetery Dayton, TX.

JoArnette was the second of two (2) children born to Joe L. Baldwin and Patsy Prater Baldwin. She also has two (2) brothers and two (2) sisters by her father. After the death of her mother at a very young age Jo Arnette was raised by her grandmother: Mable Baldwin.

She finished school at Dayton High School. She worked as a Provider for ten years.

JoArnette was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, grandfather, long-time special friend Wilbert Dark and three (3) uncles.

JoArnette leaves to cherish her memories her sister: Sandra B. Cubillas (Isaisa), Children/ nephew: Cameron Baldwin, LaQuincy Baldwin, Channing Lillie Baldwin. Her other siblings: Makalia Baldwin, Katrina Jerrels (James), Everett Baldwin (Debra) and Danny Baldwin (Barbara). Aunts: Lois Murphy (Henry) of Houston, Marcye Hunter of Cleburne, Lyndia Davis, Mattie Curtis, Tina Williams of Baytown, Sharon Cummings of Crosby. Grandmother: Doris Baldwin of Barrett, TX. Uncles: Thomas Baldwin (Audrey), Keith (Rose), Robert of California and Phillip Baldwin of Stafford. One loving step-daughter: Sheri Dark and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Baldwin’s Family has chosen to allow us the honor of caring for her remains; Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac, TX. .

Quinn

Danny Wayne Quinn, age 51 of Hardin, died at his residence in Hardin on September 2, 2014.

Danny was born January 21, 1963 in Liberty, TX. He graduated from Hardin High School and was a crane operator. Danny loved to ride his motorcycles which he cherished. He loved spending time with his family and loved to cook food on the pit. He will be missed by all.

Danny leaves behind to cherish his memory, parents; Nelda and Fred Barton of Hardin, sons; Matthew Quinn of Rye, TX, Jerney Quinn of Coldspring, TX, Colby Quinn of Coldspring, TX, daughter; Kaitlin Quinn of Hardin, TX, brothers; Joel Wilson of Hardin, TX, B.J. Quinn and wife Pat of Longview, TX, Billy Alexander of South Carolina, Tony Alexander and wife Tonia of Daisetta, TX and sister; Tonja Henderson and husband John of Baytown, TX.

Services for Danny Wayne Quinn will be Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10am at Hardin Chapel cemetery with the Rev. Gideon Watson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 6pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Atkinson

Barbara Kay Atkinson, age 81 of Liberty, died with her loving family by her side on September 2, 2014 at her residence.

Barbara was born November 16, 1932 in Crockett, TX, daughter of the late Awtry Fleming Daniel and Edna Peterson Daniel. She graduated from Pearson Chapel High School. Barbara married Bobby Atkinson on December 25, 1948 and they were married almost fifty-nine years. They moved to Liberty in 1952 and was a housewife all of her life. Barbara enjoyed her flower garden, painting on canvas, her church, family get togethers and cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Liberty Art League and the Joy Club at First Baptist Church in Liberty.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Bobby Nolan Atkinson, sisters; Bebe Bynum and Audrey Millican. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son; Robert A. Atkinson and wife Ellen of Liberty, daughters; Cynthia A. Henderson and husband John of Livingston, TX, Roberta A. Deakle and husband Dorrance of Liberty, sisters; Margie Miller of Odessa, TX, Ruth Corley of Madisonville, TX, grandchildren; Chris Henderson, Jeff Henderson, Dawn Holland, Donnie Deakle, Eric Atkinson, Ashley Atkinson and twelve great-grandchildren.

Services for Barbara Kay Atkinson will be Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Liberty with the Rev. Harry Laxton officiating. Burial will follow at Cooke cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be Friday, September 5, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.
