Mosley

Larry Wilber Mosley 66 of Batson, Texas died on Sunday August 31, 2014 at his residence surrounded by a host of friends and his loving family by his side.

A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday September 4, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Batson, with Reverend Tom Muirhead and Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating. Interment with military honors and masonic rites will follow at Guedry cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday September 3, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at First Baptist Church in Batson.

Larry was born November 30, 1947 in Dayton, TX, to John Wilber Mosley and Ethel Mae Clark. He had lived in Batson, for twenty six years and had worked for Energy Transfer/Houston Pipeline, as an Welding Inspector. He was a faithful member of The First Baptist Church of Batson, where he served as deacon and adult class Sunday School teacher. Larry was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in Viet-Nam. He was a mason with the Liberty, and Batson, lodge.

He was preceded in death by his father; John Wilber Mosley, and uncle; J.W. Clark.

Those surviving him are his loving wife of forty five years Carolyn Mosley of Batson, mother; Ethel Mae Mehl of Batson, sons; Larry Brent Mosley and wife Amy of Batson, and Jonathan Corey Mosley of Batson. Brother; John Randell Mosley and wife Jeanette of Batson, aunt; Kathryn Clark of Liberty. Grandchildren are Austin, Madison, McKenzie, Carington, Lance, Aniston and A'lise. Nephews are Trint Taylor and Yancy Mosley. Great nephews are Brody Mosley Hayden Taylor, Calden Nolf, Gaven Nolf, and niece Jolie Mosley Nolf. Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Glenn Carney, Leslie Hancock, Joe Zernicek, Gordon "Pee Wee" Melacon, Kevin Madeley, Donnie Cain, Harold Nugent, and Butch Hart. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Slankard, Travis Castilaw, Brian Jeansonne, Bubba Guedry, John Cain, Verne Hinklin, Heath Bradley, Joe Bob White, and Joey Ramsey.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. 40847 Hwy 105E. Batson, Texas 77519.

Henry

Joyce Marie Henry age 76 died August 31, 2014 in Dayton, Texas.

Joyce was born in Marlin, Texas, December 8, 1937 the daughter of the late John Greensage and Beaulah Stachowiak Greensage. Joyce enjoyed trips to the casino, fishing, and watching football. She retired after twenty years of service from Channelview ISD as a custodian in the girl’s gym. She grew up in Denver Harbor area of Houston after retirement she moved to Arkansas, later returning to Dayton to be with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Don Henry and a daughter Carol Henry.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Donna Bennett and husband Jug of Dayton, Sandra Henry of Spicewood, TX, and her son Archie Henry and wife Michelle of Stanwood, Washington. In addition she leaves her brothers Johnny Greensage and Gene Greensage, her dearest friends Rosemary and Buck Johnson, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Joyce will be held Wednesday September 3, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 10AM Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster, Texas.

Hagan

Richard Lancaster Hagan, age 62, formerly of Liberty, died September 1, 2014 in Kenefick, TX.

Richard was born June 12, 1952 in Abbeville, Louisiana, son of Richard Spalding Hagan and Margie Gale McEvers Hagan. Richard graduated from Liberty High School and then went on to the University of Texas where he received his degree in Nursing. He was currently enrolled at San Jacinto College in Baytown where he was working on a degree in computer science. Richard was in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 and was a Vietnam Veteran where he served as a helicopter gunner. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service stars and the Expert Rifle medal.

Richard was preceded in death by his father; Richard Spalding Hagan and his twin brother; Charles Hagan. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, mother; Margie M. Hagan of Liberty, brother; Patrick Hagan and wife Robin of Houston and nephew; Christopher Hagan of Liberty.

Cremation services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Kossa

Edward J. “Eddie” Kossa, Sr., 72, of Dayton, died Friday, August 29, 2014, at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Dayton followed by graveside services at 3:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic cemetery in Ammannsville. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with rosary beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Eddie was born March 10, 1942, in Ammannsville, to parents: Jerome and Georgie Sassin Kossa, a former resident of LaPorte, and has resided in Dayton for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of Bishop Forest High School, a pipefitter for Pipefitters Local #211, and member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Dayton Masonic Lodge #825. He also enjoyed restoring antique cars, watching westerns, camping with his family, and his two Boston Terriers Rocky and Roxie.

Mr. Kossa was preceded in death by his father: Jerome Kossa and sisters: Geraldine Kossa and Annie Ondrusek. He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Velma Carol Kossa of Dayton, daughters: Mary Catherine Sargent and husband William of Milano and Lee Ann Brewer and husband Johnny of Dayton, son: Edward Jerome Kossa, Jr. and wife Becky of Huffman, sisters: Dr. Mary Jones and husband Lynard of Ft. Worth, Josephine Lynn Petrosky and husband Willie of Yoakum, and Caroline Kasper of Florida, brothers: John Kossa of Gladewater and Mike Kossa and wife Linda of Ammannsville, seven grandchildren: Jonathon, Joshua, Nathaniel, and Benjamin Brewer and Michael, Rachael and Daniel Kossa, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Cook

James Louis Cook 63 of Liberty died Aug. 21, 2014.

Services will be Aug. 30, 2014 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Liberty. Visitation will begin at 9AM until funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Wells Memorial cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. & Mrs. Henry and Melvina Cook. Brother: Henry Allen Cook and Paternal and Maternal Grandparents.

Cherishing his memories are siblings: Clarence McAllister (Lillie) of Beaumont, Sharon Hubert (Wendell Sr.), Mae Jean Jones (Burnette), Debra Baldwin (Donald) all of Dayton, Wayne Cook (Pamela) of Houston, Fredrick Cook (Jeanette) of Jasper and Gregory Cook of Liberty and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Family is being cared for by Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac, TX. .

Stelly

Phyllis Stelly died, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at a Beaumont hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Memorial Service is Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:00 am with Father Dominic Oguama, officiating at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood Texas.

Wells funeral services at 300 Alabama Street in Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Clevenger

Terry Glenn Clevenger, Sr., 65, of Dayton, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Terry was born August 3, 1949 in Nacogdoches, to parents; Hayden Clevenger and Verline Johnson, a former resident of Highlands, and has resided in Dayton for the past 32 years. He was a retired millwright and member of Family Worship Church. He enjoyed watching TV, wood working, and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Clevenger was preceded in death by his father: Hayden Clevenger, mother: Verline Johnson Jenkins, an infant daughter, and brothers: Jerry and Joe Mac Clevenger. He is survived by his wife: Charlene Crather Clevenger of Dayton, son: Terry Clevenger, Jr. and wife Tabitha of Dayton, daughter: Stacey Trahan and husband Joey of Winnie, stepsons: William Eastep and wife Summer of Dayton and Michael McLemore and wife Leeanna of Dayton, sister: Charlott Cooke of Nacogdoches, 14 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Taylor

George Lesley Taylor, 88, of Crosby, Texas died Monday, August 25, 2014.

He was born July 2, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Albert William Taylor and Dorris Margaret Edwards. George is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and severed his country proudly during World War II. He called Dayton, Texas home for 15 years prior to moving to Crosby, Texas in 1998. Mr. Taylor loved spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren, and being outside fixing something. He had a huge heart full of love and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Elizabeth Hatina Taylor, parents, Albert and Dorris Taylor; sisters D.J. Hudson, Hylda Ahlstrom, and Alice Bergstrom, and grandchildren Maddyson Grayce, Johnathan, Rebecka, and Braydon.

He is survived by his daughters Leslie Manly and husband James, Beth Christy and husband Stanley, and Amanda Trantham and husband Kenneth, sister Florence O’Connor, sister-in-law Carol Gemlick, brothers-in-law Dan Hudson, Jim Ahlstrom, and Frank E. Hatina, grandchildren Matthew Manly, Emily Patrick, Nathan Scroggins, and Baby Trantham, numerous nieces, nephews, cherished family members and treasured friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Taylor will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Harvest Time Church of God, 495 S. Diamondhead Blvd., Crosby, Texas 77532.

Massey

Donald Wayne Massey, 69, of Vidor, died Friday August 22, 2014.

Donald was married to Hazel Campbell in 1966 and honorably served his country during the Vietnam Conflict as a member of the 173rd Army Airborne.

Donald and Hazel moved to Vidor, Texas in 1977 where he supported his family as a automotive body repair mechanic and farmer. After retirement, Donald enjoyed working and supporting the FFA while spending time with his grandchildren.

Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Campbell Massey; parents, Cecil and Jean Massey and brother, Cecil Massey, Jr.

His survivors include his daughter, Lisa Duty and her husband Sam of Baytown; grandchildren, Lane and Reagan Duty of Baytown; siblings, Larry Massey, Kenny Massey, Ronald Massey and Carol Sickler all of New Jersey.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday August 31, 2014 at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Billy Walston. Future interment will be at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Hand

Lillian Hand, 94, of Anahuac, died Sunday, August 24, 2014. She was born February 8, 1920 in Pasadena, Texas to Joseph E. and Ursule Ledet.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph E. Ledet and Ursule Carlin and sister Lucille Rauwerda.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac, American Legion Auxiliary for 68 years and served as Treasurer of the Golden Triangle POW.

Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Broughton L. Hand; daughters Phoebe Fergerson and husband Eddie and Myra Norman and husband Terry, all of Anahuac; son Lynn Hand and wife Ann, of New Braunfels; sister Lee Alice DiCarlo, of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren: Laurie Lawrence, Mary Beth Richey, Kimberly Poe, Crystal Norman, T.J. Hand, Susie Copeland and Sarah Lain; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5:00 Pm until 7:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St., in Anahuac.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 204 Trinity St., with Rev. Kelly Krone officiating.

Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.

Brown

Charles “Buddy” Owen Brown age 78 died Sunday August 24, 2014 at his home in Liberty.

Buddy was born July 27, 1936 in Poplar Creek, Mississippi the son of the late Sims Brown and Rosa Lee Walker Brown. Buddy worked for numerous years as a Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic for Liberty ISD and Armco Steel. He received his vocational degree from San Jacinto College. Buddy was also a veteran who served in the US Air Force as a mechanic from 1957-1961. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was known to many to be a crack shot.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of forty-one years Brenda Davis Brown of Liberty, his son Kent Brown and wife Jasmine; daughter Kathy Brown Sterling and husband Clay; sisters Dorothy Keith and Meredith Herndon; brothers Jimmy Brown and Morris Brown; and three grandchildren Grayson Sterling, Ryleigh Sterling, and Judith Brown. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Buddy will be held Thursday August 28, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Cremation services to follow.

Jackson

Barbara Jeanette Hollis Jackson, 74, of Shepherd, died Friday, August 22, 2014, at the Cleveland Healthcare Center in Cleveland.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2014, at the Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Barbara was born February 21, 1940 in Longview, to parents; Clarence C. and Clorene S. Cooper, has lived in Shepherd since 1985 and had formerly lived in Cleveland for 25 years. She was a self-employed beautician until her retirement and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and fishing. She loved being "Me Maw" to her grandchildren.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband: Willie Jackson, her parents, sisters: Martha Ann Deel and Shirley Bones, and stepdaughter: Pamela Whiddon. She is survived by her daughters: Wendy Williams, Sherri Reynolds and husband Larry, and Kathleen Welfl and husband Frank, son: Ron Pickering and wife Jeannie, stepdaughter: Cheryl and husband Emmet, stepsons: Ronnie Jackson, Danny Jackson, and Glen Jackson and wife Joy, sisters: Carolyn Sue Hollis and Sherry Gordon, brothers: Wayne Hollis and Danny Hollis, grandchildren: Travis, Randall, Robert, Evan, Clayton, and Nolan, and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
