Dorothy Johnston Vickery
Services for Dorothy Johnston Vickery, 86, of Kerrville, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Strong Memorial Cemetery in Slocum. Overby Funeral Home of Kerrville is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Vickery died Sunday at a local care center.
She was born Aug. 19, 1916 in Palestine to Samuel and Flora Johnston. She married James A. Vickery on Oct. 26, 1935. She was a resident of Kerrville since 1966. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Vickery was preceded in death by her husband in 1979.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia Powell of Kerrville; son, Jerry Vickery of Houston; sisters, Coye Lackey of Kerrville and Joyce DeFoore of Palestine; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Andrew Wendel Duncan Jr.
Services for infant Andrew Wendel Duncan Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hopewell Cemetery in Fairfield. Arrangements are under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home in Teague.
The infant died Thursday in Mesquite after living three hours.
He was born Thursday in Mesquite to Tamelia L. Burns and Andrew W. Duncan of Dallas.
He is survived by a sister, Ashanti Dakota Betts of Dallas; grandparents, Wanda Duncan, Ray Shaw, Lorie Betts and Leo Gonzales, all of Dallas; and great-grandmother, Doris R. Betts of Mexia.
Vergie Lee Wornell Brooks
Services for Vergie Lee Wornell Brooks, 88, of Oakwood, who resided in Buffalo Nursing Home for many years, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Pisgah Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Stevens officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Brooks died Tuesday at Buffalo Nursing Home.
She was born April 12, 1914 in Tyler to Joseph and Adelle French Wornell.
Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dallas Brooks; and a son, W.D. Brooks Jr.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by a daughter, Edith Lowe of Dickinson; son, Charles P. Brooks of Salt Lake City, Utah; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Girlina Boman

Mrs. Boman died Saturday at Palestine Healthcare Center.
Berness Collier
Services for Berness Collier, 81, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at South Union Baptist Church with the Rev. James Busby officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Palestine.
Mr. Collier died Wednesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 20, 1921 in Troup to Andrew and Annie Holmes Collier.
Mr. Collier retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 31 years of service. He was reared in Palestine and graduated from Lincoln High School.
Mr. Collier was a member of South Union Baptist Church and served as financial secretary of the Sunday School and was a member of the church Brotherhood.
He served in the armed forces during World War II and was honorably discharged.
Mr. Collier is survived by a brother, Robert Vernell Collier of Palestine; sisters, Katie Butler and Geneva Leveston, both of Palestine, and Darene Johnson of Augusta, Ga.; children, Lisa Mosley of Oregon, James Lewis of Palestine, Tommy E. Arthur of Colorado Springs, Colo., Stephanie D. Hatten of Palestine, Edwin B. Arthur of Redlands, Calif., and Sonya D. Bartlett of Miami, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Robert W. Collier, Byron A. Asberry, Norman Casey, Jesse Gray, Stacey Brisco, Johnathan Deckard and DeMetrick Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class XII and friends.
Michael Ray Wells
Services for Michael Ray Wells, 55, of Fairfield, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Capps Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Suits officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Wells died Saturday at his home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1947 in Dallas.
Mr. Wells was employed as an offshore driller and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Monday Wells.
Mr. Wells is survived by include his father, Claude Ray Wells of Fairfield; wife, Margaret DeLeon Wells of Fairfield; daughter, Jennifer Wells of Fairfield; adopted daughter, Summer Knight of Gilmer; stepdaughter, Mary Bresnahan of Fairfield; son, Matthew Wells of Fairfield; stepson, Paul Sacksteder of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Sharon Thornbrough of Fairfield; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Vannatter, Philip Shaw, Charles Bradley, Jesse Bean, Tony Hickson, and Brian Gilmore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Monday and Tee Burleson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Esteline Lavine
Services for Esteline Lavine, 91, of Grapeland, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Grapeland City Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Tindall officiating. Burial will be in the Grapeland City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mrs. Lavine was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Grapeland. Before retiring she was self-employed in the retail grocery business.
Mrs. Lavine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Homer H. Lavine, in 1981.
She is survived by a daughter, Joe Dailey of Grapeland; a sister, Dorothy Lavine of Hartsburg; and a grandchild.
Woodie Ray Ivey

Services for Jack H. Alexander, 78, of Oakwood will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Rick Dees officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Leon County under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Alexander died Friday in Wylie.
He was born Oct. 7, 1924 in Oakwood to Jim Alexander and Danny May Alexander.
Mr. Alexander was a Baptist. He was an automotive master mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Frances Alexander, who died in July 2000.
Mr. Alexander is survived by daughters, Billie Wise of Wylie, Tonya Alexander of Irving, and Mary Atkins of San Angelo; sons, James Alexander of Garland, Michael Alexander of Garland, Qunnia Alexander of Greenville, Ray Alexander of Lake Palestine and Beaurn Alexander of Dallas; sisters, Lula Mae Rogers, Pearl Roberts and Belle Nichols, all of Bryan; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gene Jones, Beaurn Alexander, Thomas Hatfield, Rob Wise, James Fred Alexander and Jon Winters.

Lee Roy Forest
Services for Lee Roy Forest, 86, of Buffalo, were held Saturday afternoon in the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Revs. Brett Moreland and James Vermillion officiating. Burial followed at the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
Mr. Forest died Thursday at a Buffalo healthcare facility.
He was born Sept. 20, 1914, in Trinity.
Mr. Forest was a retired operator with Amaco Oil. He was a 50-year Mason and a member of the Buffalo Masonic Lodge No. 544.
He is survived by wife, Pricilla Arlitt Forest of Buffalo; daughters, Lee Harris of Oakwood and Kathryn Turner of Louisiana; brother, David Forest of East Bernard; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dean Richmond, Kenneth Harris, Buddy Spikes, James Anders, Marty Mailey and Bob Mims.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Masonic Lodge No. 544 of Buffalo.
Walter Doolittle
Services for Walter Doolittle, 86, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park.
Mr. Doolittle died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 15, 1916 in Polk County to John Oren and Hattie Keene Doolittle.
Mr. Doolittle was a member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ. He worked as a freight claims adjuster for Union Pacific Railroad. He was an Air Force veteran who served in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lu Doolittle of Elkhart; daughter, Cathy Hughes of Spring; son, Chris Campise of Houston; sister, Lillian Dillon of Houston; and brother, Clovis Doolittle of Huffman.
Pallbearers will be John Thurman, Matthew Campise, Jordon Campise, Donald Seal, Don Bell and Dale Sparks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Truett and Leonard Truett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tyler Nephrology Association; Palestine Dialysis Center; or the American Heart Association.
Lottie McFarland
Services for Lottie McFarland, 82, of Cuero, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating.
Mrs. McFarland died Sunday in Cuero.
She was born Dec. 11, 1919 in Elkhart to Hulan Archie Brooks and Cisley Swan Brooks.
Mrs. McFarland lived most of her life in Anderson County until 1995.
She was a housewife and a member of Company 16, 21st Regiment, the third Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. Reserve in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.
Mrs. McFarland was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow McFarland, in December 1991.
She is survived by sons, Hulan “Mike” McFarland and Bill T. McFarland; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
