Taylor

Sharon Elizabeth Hatina Taylor, 66, of Crosby, Texas died unexpectedly on Thursday, August, 14, 2014.

She was born June 26, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Frank Hatina and Edith Benes. She had called Dayton, Texas home for 15 years prior to moving to Crosby, Texas in 1998. Mrs. Taylor loved spending time with her family, loving on her grandchildren, going to church and celebrating God. She had a big heart full of love and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edith Hatina; brother-in-law, Fred Gemlick; sisters-in-law; D.J. Hudson, Hylda Ahlstrom, and Alice Bergstrom, and grandchildren, Maddyson Grayce, Johnathan, Rebecka, and Braydon.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, George Lesley Taylor, daughters, Leslie Manly and husband James, Beth Christy and husband Stanley, Amanda Trantham and husband Kenneth, son, Brian Hatina and wife Tonya, sister, Carol Gemlick, brother, Frank E. Hatina and wife Shirley; grandchildren, Matthew Manly, Emily Patrick, Nathan Scroggins, baby Trantham, Erika Hatina, Emily Hatina, and numerous nieces, nephews, cherished family members and treasured friends.

A memorial service for Mrs. Taylor will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Harvest Time Church of God in Crosby, Texas.

Herndon

Alvin Ray Herndon, Sr., 58, of Dayton, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in Dayton, Texas.

He was born April 17, 1956 in Dayton to his parents, Donald Ray and Eva Geraldine Hand Herndon. Alvin had been a longtime resident of Tarkington and had resided in Dayton for the past 20 years. He was a retired instrument fitter and worked in plant maintenance. He had a passion for motorcycles and rode as often as he could. Alvin enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Service for Mr. Herndon will be Monday August 18, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m.

Alvin was preceded in death by: his father, Donald Ray Herndon; son, Lucas L. Herndon; brother, Donald L. Herndon; grandson, Sevyn Herndon, granddaughter, Grace Herndon.

Survivors include: his mother, Eva G. Barnes and husband, Frank of Dayton; girlfriend, Darlene Walker of Dayton; sons, Alvin “Tinker” Herndon, Jr. and wife, Daisie, Bruce Herndon and wife, Amy and Quintin Herndon; daughters, Misty Dawn Herndon and Lacy Lee Herndon; sister, Patricia Herndon; sister-in-law, Pat Herndon, 14 grandchildren, his beloved dog, numerous other relatives and friends.

Jurecka

Frank Jurecka Jr age 84 died Tuesday August 12, 2014 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Frank was born June 18, 1930 in Tioga, Texas the son of the late Frank Jurecka Sr. and Ethel Burge Jurecka. Frank began working at a young age at a Sinclair service station before going into the oilfield. He had numerous positions within the oilfield, working as a tool pusher prior to his retirement. Frank loved to work, he especially enjoyed welding. He worked tirelessly on tables and trailers at his home in Raywood. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army as a cook. Frank was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife of over fifty years Marjorie Jurecka and daughters Donna and Cathy Jurecka.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children; Nelsalee Amy and husband James of Pearland, Nelson Jurecka Sr. and wife Sherry of Riverside, Franklin Scott Jurecka of Raywood, and Christine Land of Dayton. In addition he leaves his sisters; Mary Bennight, Janet Woods, and Patsy Walker all of Dawson, and a brother Wayne Hill of Midlothian. He also leaves nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday August 17, 2014 from 5-7pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575. A funeral mass will be held 10AM Monday August 18, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood, TX. Burial will be held in Fairlawn Memorial cemetery, Liberty, with full Military Honors.

Domain

James Robert Domain, 55, died at his residence in Ames Texas, Monday, August 11, 2014.

Visitation is Friday, August 15, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wells Funeral Service Chapel at 300 Alabama in Liberty, Texas.

He will lie in state, Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church at 808 Washington Street in Liberty, Texas. Services will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. L.C. Speights officiating.

Interment will be in Wells Memorial cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama Street, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Kerr

Irene Laura Kerr, age 94 of Liberty, died in Houston, TX on August 12, 2014.

Irene was born April 21, 1920 in Hickory, NC, daughter of the late Arthur and Ilah Susan Reitzel Lohr. She attended high school in Springfield, IL and then went on to attend college at Illinois St University the college of Guam where she received her teaching degree. Irene was in the education field for over sixty years. She loved to read her Bible, spend time with friends and help others, she also liked to be active with her children and grandchildren, water skiing, horseback riding, hiking, etc. Irene spent thirty-six years of her life in Hawaii. She also loved singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Irene was a member of the Delta Kappa Gama, the Coterie Club of Liberty, South Liberty County Teachers Association, Friends of the Library and an active volunteer in the community.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Capt. William Gilbert Kerr Jr, son; Robert J. Kerr and brothers; Arthur C. Lohr and Harold Lohr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons; William Kerr and wife Karen of Georgia, Jim Kerr of Liberty, daughter; Beverly Mulder and husband Brian of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, daughter-in-law; Evelyn Kerr of Nashville, TN, grandchildren; Rebecka Kerr, Laura Kerr, William Kerr IV, Jacquelyn Kerr, Nicholas Kerr, Rosalyn Rhodes, Kaitlyn Mulder, Michale Elliott, Nicole Kerr, Alexander Kerr, great-grandchildren; Madeleine Rhodes, James Rhodes, Leela Rhodes and Delvon Elliott. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Irene’s memory to the Jerry D. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church in Liberty.

Services for Irene Laura Kerr will be Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11am at First Baptist Church in Liberty. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 10am to 11am. Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Storey

Eva Mae Jackson Storey, 76 of Batson, Texas died Monday, August 11, 2014 at home.

She was born June 15, 1938 in Saratoga, Texas to parents, Robert Villow Jackson and Lessie Edna Smith Jackson. She had lived in Hardin County since 1975 after moving from Hull Daisetta. Mrs. Storey played the piano at the West End Baptist Church in Saratoga and at other local churches. She loved to serve her family by sewing for the grandchildren, cooking, and gardening.

Services for Mrs. Storey will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, l2014 at the West End Baptist Church in Saratoga with interment to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at West End Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas

Mrs. Storey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 27 years John B. Storey, and her sisters Anna Doris Rountree and Loyce Guillory. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Cummings and Robin Ashworth and husband Dustin; sons, Ken Cummings and wife Lori; sister, Helen Carouthers; grandchildren, Benjamin Brownlee, Ashley DeRon and husband Nathan, Ally Foss and Jon Foss; great-grandson, Jackson Willborn; stepsons Rickey Storey, wife Gaynelle their daughter Brandy and family and son Cole and family, Wesley Storey, and Wade Storey; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Arrendell

Linda Marie Arrendell, age 62, a resident of Livingston, Texas, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas.

She was born June 7, 1952, in Evansville, Indiana to Clyde Druelinger and Mary Hoosier. She loved to crochet spending many hours making ornaments, baby blankets and booties for many family members and friends. She also loved helping in the family photography business, spending hours sorting and packaging many children's school photos. Linda loved her family and all of her friends from the American Legion Post 629. She was known for her ability to whip just about anyone in a dart throwing contest. She had a big heart full of love and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Clyde Druelinger; husband, Tommy Arrendell Jr; sisters, Joyce James and Sandra Campbell; daughter-in-law, Krissy Summers.

Survivors include her sons, Joseph Ray Summers of Omaha, Nebraska and Mike Arrendell of Abilene, Texas; mother, Mary Druelinger of Owensboro, Kentucky; brothers, Larry Druelinger and wife Linda of Lamont, Illinois; Steven Druelinger of Germantown, Tennessee; sisters, Anna Walruff of Chrissney, Indiana and Connie Pierson of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon Raye Summers of Fleming Island, Florida, Chris and Brandon Fernandez of Biloxi, Mississippi; niece, Stevie Rae Hill and husband Mike; great-great nephew, Braxton Wayne Black; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, other cherished family members and treasured friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Jimmy Kelso will preside over the services held Friday, August 15, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with internment following at Victory Place cemetery, Livingston, Texas.

Gilliam

Donald Wayne "Boo" Gilliam 32 of Liberty, died on Tuesday August 5, 2014 in Liberty.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Katy Fillingim officiating.

Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

The family will be receiving friends also on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at Faith & Family.

Born in Galveston, he had lived in Liberty, and was a machine operator for Boomerang Tubing of Liberty.

He is survived by his parents Billy and Betty Gilliam of Saratoga, wife Lisa Michelle Gilliam of Liberty, son; Dakota Gilliam of Liberty, daughter; Rebecca Gilliam of Liberty; Mother-in-law Patricia Whitney of Liberty, and Father - in - law Tommy Bowlen of Liberty. Brother -in-laws; David Davis of Liberty, Jeromy Tuttle of Pasadena. Sister-in-laws; Helen Whitney of Pasadena, Renee Whitney of Liberty, and Mary Ann Slavin of Liberty. Cousin; Jeff Gilliam of Rye, and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are David Davis, Jeromy Tuttle, Wes Jenkins, Jeff Gilliam, William Cantrell, and Douglas Fillingim. Honorary pallbearer is Tommy Bowlen.

Berotte

LaVerne Marie Berotte, 59 of Dayton died Aug. 06, 2014.

She was born January 3, 1956 in Liberty, TX to the late Josephine Mitchell and John Berotte Sr. who both preceded her in death. She attended Liberty High School. LaVerne accepted Christ and became an usher at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Paul Jones. LaVerne served as an active mother to not only her sons, but others in the Dayton community.

LaVerne loved to laugh, play, and cook with her fellow peers.

LaVerne is preceded in death by her father John Berotte Jr, mother Josephine Mitchell, and sisters Barbara Berotte and Margret Davis.

LaVerne leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Robert Elliott Jr. (Teresa) of Dayton, TX, Kendall Elliott (Joanna) of TN, and James Elliott (Kristen) of Baytown, TX; five sisters Kathleen of Pasadena, TX, Wilamae Berotte of Houston, TX, Jewel White of Pasadena, TX, Carolyn Moore of Dallas, TX, and Rhonda Berotte of Pasadena, TX; three brothers, Wilbert Mitchell of Beaumont, TX, John Berotte of Ames, TX and David Berotte of Pasadena, TX, fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. LaVerne also leaves a special friend Greg Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a community of friends who will dearly miss her.

A Wake Service will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014, 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church 1406 Beauty St. Dayton, TX.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 14, 2014, 11:00AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church 1406 Beauty St. Dayton, TX. Visitation from 9AM until Funeral. Interment will be in Well’s cemetery.

Ms. Berotte’s services have been entrusted to Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St., Anahuac, Texas. ” We Make The Difference” (409) 267-3122.

Johnson

Delores Rose Johnson, 83, of Liberty, died on Saturday August 2, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday August 11, 2014 at 10:00A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services with interment to follow at Moss Hill, cemetery in Moss Hill. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday August 10, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel.

Delores was born February 16, 1931 in Orofino, Nebraska, to William Marvin Clubb and Lula Arizona DeRuse. She had lived in Liberty, most of her life and was an homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Burl Eldridge Johnson, son; Kenneth Burl Johnson and daughter Terri Lynn Johnson. Those left to survive her are her daughter Barbara Nugent and husband Frank of Hardin, nephew; Darrell Johnson and wife Penny of Moss Hill, niece; Belinda Johnson of Hardin. Grandchildren are Stacey Nugent of Hardin, and Tracie Litton of Liberty. Great grandchildren are Kody Winkle of Welty, OK, Destiny Aisenbrey of Hardin, Roy Murphy of Liberty, and Paige Nugent of Liberty.

Savage

Alex Allen “Rebel” Savage, 70, of Dayton, died Thursday, August 7, 2014 in Beaumont.

He was born September 24, 1943 in Kennedy, Texas to his late parents, Frank Benjamin Savage, Jr. and Cassie Huckman savage.

Rebel was a longtime resident of the Baytown area, a 1961 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, retired welder from the pipeline industry and after retirement he enjoyed being a straight rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rance Savage and a sister, Lana Burns. Survivors include his wife, Lilla Hooks Savage of Dayton; son, Anthony Wayne Savage of Dayton; grandchildren, Christiana Matthews, Alexandria Savage and Seth Savage; great-niece, Steeley Rhea Franklin and Steeley’s mother, Shae Lynn Franklin; brothers-in-law, Dan Hooks and his wife Cynthia of Orange and Jimmy Earl Burns and his wife Sheila of Baytown; numerous nieces and nephews; his dog, Emily and his horse, Sally.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Navarre Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2014 at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Pallbearers will be Raymond LaFour, Pat Sappington, Jimmy Earl Burns, Johnnie Barrow, John Harrison, Ronnie Pittman and Blue Burns.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to JBJ Ranch and Dr. James Jones.
