Turner

Horace Eldon Turner, 80, of Cleveland died July 22, 2014.

He was born January 27, 1934 Cleveland to parents William Aaron Turner and Nannie Simmons Turner. He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and had worked as a truck driver in the chemical industry.

He enjoyed fishing and traveling but most of all he loved being with his family.

Service for Mr. Turner will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Private interment will follow at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by wife: Martha Madison Turner. He is survived by daughters, Karen Barfield and husband David, Karrie Bird and husband Chris, Katy McKay and husband Tony; grandchildren, Brandy Wisdom and husband Jason, Amber Linton and husband Adam, Jenna Motl and husband Karl, Mandy Householder and husband Drew, Chris Garner and wife Britt; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Fisher, Morgan, Devon, Connor, Mason, Masie, Abby, and Tristen; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Campbell

Carroll Ralph “C.R.” Campbell, age 69 of Liberty, died July 22, 2014 with his loving family by his side.

C.R. was born October 9, 1944 in Liberty, TX, son of the late Jim and Julia Anderson Campbell. He graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School in 1963. C.R. then entered into the Navy in August of 1965 and was honorably discharged in August of 1969. Hethen went to work for Texas Gulf Sulphur for thirteen years. C.R. then was self-employed as a salesman in the chemical services. C.R. was a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #48 and loved woodworking, leather working and wood burning. He will be missed by all.

C.R. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; J.L. Campbell, David Campbell and Jerry Campbell. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife; Carol Campbell of Liberty, sister-in-law; Mary Anne Campbell of Liberty, brother-in-law; Paul Henry of Liberty and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Carroll Ralph “C.R.” Campbell will be Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:30am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.

Carden

Beth Edwards Carden, 93 died July, 19, 2014.

Services for Mrs. Carden were Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland with Cory Wilkins and Jimmy Smith officiating. Interment followed at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster.

Mrs. Carden was born September 12, 1920 at La Crosse, Kansas. She was the second child of F.A. and Grace Edwards. In 1926 they moved to an irrigated farm in Garden City, Kansas. They lived there for twelve years. During the drought the wells went dry. They rented their farm and moved to Hayes Kansas where the whole family went to school. Her father received his Masters degree and her mother received her Bachelor of Arts. They then moved to Colorado where both parents taught school. Beth graduated from the junior college in Lamar, Colorado. She got one more year of college after teaching one year, then went back to the University of Denver and received her Bachelor of Music degree in 1947.

During this time she met Carl Carden, a student at the University of Colorado. They were married in March 1947 and Carl graduated in 1948. The same year their first daughter was born. To this union four children were born. She was the mother of Corliss Spence of Kerrville, Carolyn Walton, deceased, Steve Carden of Cleveland and Kathy Carden, deceased.

Carl joined the space program and Beth raised her children and taught twenty years as a first grade teacher. In all their moves Beth taught in four states. She retired from Clear Creek School District after fifteen years. They built their home in Cleveland after retiring. Beth was still living there. She enjoyed baking, gardening and animals. She also had a passion for music and loves to sing, often providing specials for worship at the Shepherd United Church. She had been the state soloist for the Cleveland VFW Auxiliary for five years and a long time member of the Barbershop Group. Whether singing a solo in Sunday Worship service or serving one of her home baked refreshments, she always let her Christian Spirit shine. Beth will be buried in Webster, Texas beside her husband and their daughter.

Stockwell

K.M. Stockwell, 83, of Anahuac, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 in Baytown, Texas. He was born May 26, 1931 in Crowley, Louisiana to John and Virginia Stockwell.

Mr. Stockwell served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers and was a member of the First United Methodist of Anahuac and the American Legion of Anahuac.

K.M. was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Stockwell, parents John and Virginia Stockwell, brothers John Stagg Stockwell and Wayne Stockwell.

He is survived by his sons: John Stockwell and wife Sally, of Liberty, Joey Stockwell and wife Rhea, of Ft. Worth, Texas and David Stockwell and wife Martha, of Baytown, Texas; sisters: Jeanette Gamble, of Kerrville, Texas and Shirley Stockwell, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A visitation with the family will be on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St, Anahuac, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac, 204 Trinity St., with Rev. Kelly Krone officiating.

Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Funeral Services are under the directions of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.

Northcutt

Bobby Northcutt was born March 1, 1943 and went to be with Jesus July 16, 2014.
He was born in Anahuac to Bill and Rynie Northcutt. Bobby attended Anahuac School.

Early in his career he was a mechanic at Thames Chevrolet in Anahuac. After years he opened his own boating business and then went to work at K&K Enterprises until the time of his death. Bobby loved his family, and loved to watch college football and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Liz Northcutt, parents Bill & Rynie Northcutt, brother Billy Northcutt and his brother in law Gary Cameron.

Survivors include his daughter Marilyn Moore & husband Bobby, son Troy Williams & wife Denise, son Lenny Williams, son David Williams & wife Shami (Bigalow). Grandchildren Danielle Morris & husband Robert, Cody Moore & wife Erin, Cortney Williams, Preston Williams, Baylee Williams, Lee Hatfield, Jacob Hatfield, Gage Kent, Brooke Williams, Brianna Enfinger, Brian Williams, Dakota Williams, Great Grandchildren Madelyn Moore, Caden Williams, Carleigh Williams, Sister Betty Ann Jenkins & husband Richard, Sister in law Norma Northcutt, Mary Williams, Carol Cameron, brother in law Jimmy Cameron, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Services for Bobby Ray Northcutt will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11am at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 South Main, Anahuac, TX with burial to follow at Anahuac cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home.

Mayes

Ella Mae Haynes Mayes, of Wallisville, Texas was born on November 28, 1921, in Double Bayou, Texas.

She died Friday, July 18, 2014 at the age of 92 years in Baytown, Texas.

Her parents were Jesse Floyd Haynes, Sr. and Effie Mae Jenny Haynes. She was married to George Clinton Mayes, Jr. of Wallisville, Texas. They had two children, George Clinton Mayes, III and Virginia Mayes Loya; grandchildren are Lex Mayes Loya, Danielle Mayes Schidlowski and Courtney Mayes; great grandchildren are Carter Mayes Watts, Tate Schidlowski and Chloe Schidlowski.

She grew up on the Haynes Ranch in Chamber County, Texas and was very well versed in the Cattle and Rice Farming Businesses. Her father, Jesse Haynes taught her to ride a horse and to shoot a gun well. Her mother, Effie Jenny Haynes, taught her how to be an accomplished artist, like herself. She spent many years in the Fine Arts Club in Anahuac, Texas. The PTA of Anahuac, Member, Secretary and Sunday school Teacher of the Middleton Memorial United Church of Wallisville, Texas.

She was Vice-President of The Wallisville Heritage Park Board of Directors, Wallisville, Texas and head of the Trinity Valley Exposition Queens Contest in the later 1960’s in Liberty and she was a cheerleader, played Tennis and Basketball at Anahuac High School.

Lastly she was a granddaughter of the Barrow, Dugat, Jenny and Haynes families, outstanding ancestors, which brought strength and longevity to her life.

Graveside services and interment were held on Monday, July 21, 2014, at 11:00 AM in the Wallisville cemetery Wallisville, Texas.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Duncan

Tucker Joe Duncan, infant son of Tommy and Jessica Hartwick Duncan of Dayton, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., prior to services at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral in Dayton.

Tucker was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Laurie Aube Hartwick. He is survived by his parents: Tommy and Jessica Hartwick Duncan of Dayton, paternal grandparents: Tommy and Regina Duncan of Dayton, maternal grandfather: Richard Hartwick of Maine, and numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Turner

Alma Lois (Harmon) Turner died in Beaumont, Texas at the age of 90 on Saturday, July 19, 2014.

She was the daughter of Alva Joshua and Mildred (Moor) Harmon and the granddaughter of Charles S. and Florence (Brown) Harmon and Euel Lester and Nora Eve (Stengler) Moor.

Alma Lois attended grade school in Hankamer, graduated from Anahuac High School in 1942, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader, and attended a business school in Beaumont after high school graduation. She began her working career in the Ration Office at the courthouse in Anahuac and in 1946, she became secretary to the County Judge and served in that capacity under five different Judges, later serving as County Judge for eight years until her retirement in January, 1987. She was an adult leader of the 4-H Horse Club and coordinator of the Chambers County Youth Project Show for many years, always looking forward to the show each May.

The first Harmon saddle was built by Joshua Harmon and Charles S. Harmon continued that tradition which was passed on to Alva J. Harmon and later to his three children. After her father’s death in 1973, Alma Lois continued to operate the Harmon Saddle Shop until May 2008. In October 1996, the saddle shop had a one hundred year celebration with the dedication of a State of Texas historical marker.

Alma Lois loved her cattle and horses, deer hunting, grandchildren and discussing politics whether local, county, state or national. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac, American Quarter Horse Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Independent Cattlemen’s Association, Epsilon Sigma Alpha service sorority and the James Taylor White I Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was recognized by the Former Texas Rangers Foundation as a Captain in 2010.

Alma Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Ira A. “Bub” Turner, her parents, grandparents and brother, Alva J. Harmon, Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia J. Turner; two sons, Otho E. Turner and wife Joy and Mike Turner, all of Hankamer; one brother, Billy E. Harmon, of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Brooke Kraehnke and husband Jesse, of Winnie, Texas and Blake Turner and wife Brandy, of Hankamer, Texas and three great grandchildren, Teal and Kolt Kraehnke and Hadley Turner. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main, Anahuac, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac, with Rev. Kelly Krone officiating, with the interment to follow in Abshier cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alma’s memory can be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 609, Anahuac, Texas 77514 or to the Wallisville Heritage Park, P.O. Box 16, Wallisville, Texas 77597 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Serving as pallbearers for Alma Lois will be Danny Chambless, Stephen Greak, Robert Gotcher, Mitch Hankamer, Danny Syphrett and Josh Harmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Hankamer, James Earl Weaver, Don Harmon, Linn Marcantel, Allen Barrow and Halley Ray Moor.

Funeral services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.

Love

Jimmy Dewayne Love, 65, of Thicket, and Votaw, died Wednesday July 16, 2014 at River Parrish Hospital in La Place, Louisiana.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday July 19, 2014 at 12 o' clock noon at The Votaw Worship Center with Reverend Phil Love, Kevin Vanya and Mitchell Vanya officiating. Interment will follow at The Hall cemetery in Thicket. The family will receive friends Friday July 18, 2014 beginning at 5:00 P.M at the church.

Jimmy was born in Call, TX, on November 22, 1948 to his parents Joe Love and Nobel Daisy Dryden Love and had lived in the Votaw, and Thicket area for about sixty four and a half years. He was a member of the Votaw Assembly of God and was an Oilfield worker and pipeliner for Mustang Engineering of Houston.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Love and Nobel Daisy Dryden Love; brothers, Terry Love, Bobby Joe Love Sr, N.J. "Pickle" Love, and Melvin Love; mother- in- law and father-in-law; Dovie and Price Burnett; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Burnett, Ray Bailey and Norman Stewart.

Those left to survived him are his wife of forty three years, Dovie Love of Thicket, and Votaw; son, Jimbo Love of Liberty; daughters, Shanna Laird and husband Sonny of Thicket, Jackie Williams and husband Corey of Thicket; brothers, Jerry Don Love and wife Joyce of Thicket, Phil Love and wife Rhonda of Big Sandy, Tony Ray Love and wife Melinda of Troy, TX. Nunnie Burnett and wife Jeannie of Holly Grove, Jack Burnett and wife Jessica of Honey Island, Rip Burnett and wife Sherry of Batson, Chint Burnett and wife Brenda of Kountze, Willie Burnett and wife Pat of Zavalla and Larry Burnett and wife Becky of Votaw; sisters, Yvette Love of Diboll, Carolyn Jo Love of Votaw, Carolyn Sue Burrows and husband Tommy of Huntington, TX, Bobbie Stewart of Votaw, Sissy Loftin and husband Bubba of Saratoga, Bessie Hudgins and husband Slim of Votaw, Nell Bailey of Votaw, and Melonie Vanya and husband Kevin of Votaw; grandchildren, Jacob Williams and fiancé Lacey of Thicket, "My Girl" Lanie Williams of Thicket, Amber Love of San Antonio, Taylor Snell of Moss Hill, Tristan Love of Dayton, Ethan Williams of Thicket, Alexis Love of Dayton, T.J. Laird of Thicket, Chet levi Williams of Thicket, and Austin Laird and wife Aly of Liberty; great - grandson, Easton laird and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends.

"God never created a better man that will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Heaven has received a mischievous angel and true friend, "We Love You."

Williams

Wallace Rodger Williams, Sr., 78, of Splendora died Monday, July 14, 2014 at home.

He was born July 2, 1936 in Colfax, Louisiana Services for Mr. Williams will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Rosewood cemetery in Porter. Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. before the service on Saturday at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter: Cheryl Lynn Hargraves of Cleveland; sons: Ronald Allen Williams of Lebanon, TN, Wallace Roger Williams, Jr. of Cleveland, and Paul Anthony Williams of Splendora; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters: Ellen Kuhl of Liberty and Winnie Garcia of Groves; brother: Dale Dewayne Hardy of Dayton; three nephews and two nieces; other relatives and a host of friends.

Wiggins

John Russell Wiggins, 63 of Splendora died July 14, 2014.

He was born December 6, 1950 in El Paso, Texas to parents Jay T. Wiggins and Martha Bell Fuqua Wiggins. He was a lifetime resident of the Splendora area and had worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Teamsters Union.

Services for Mr. Wiggins will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ernie Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington. Visitation for Mr. Wiggins will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Pace-Stancil.

Mr. Wiggins is survived by his wife Kathy Gwenett Green; his daughter: Catherine Miranda-Dawn Wiggins; brothers: Robert J. Wiggins, and Ralph Dean Wiggins; nephews: Aaron Wiggins, and Brian Wiggins; also other relatives and friends.
