Shirley Faye Baggett Pitts, 79, of Huffman, died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Memorial Hermann NE Hospital in Humble.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the family residence of 905 Wood Branch, Huffman. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Shirley was born July 6, 1935 in Henderson, to parents; Gaylon Baggett and Easter Mae Griffith, a former resident of Louisiana, and has resided in Huffman for the past 20 years. She was a graduate of the Liberty High School class of 1953 and a homemaker. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping, fishing, cooking, playing cards, and especially spending time with her family.

Mrs. Pitts was preceded in death by her husband: Loren Pitts, father: Gaylon Baggett, mother: Easter Mae Griffith Jones, sister: Patsy Ruth Davis, and daughter-in-law: Susan Kornegay. She is survived by her daughters: Donna Roddy and husband John of Huffman, Tanya Yarbrough and husband Duncan of Huffman, Kathy McLemore and husband Roland of Huffman, Paula Fletcher and husband Mike of Huffman, and Brenda Reeves of Corpus Christi, sons: Randy Kornegay of Huffman and Brent Kornegay and wife Angel of Deer Park, sister: Barbara G. Cain of Liberty, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Harris

Donna Lynn Dryden Patterson - Harris, 65, of Liberty, died at her home on July 6, with her family by her side.

She was born November 19, 1948 in Liberty to Zeak and Willie Mae Dryden of Hardin, Texas.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved making people happy, she loved to cook and she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved playing and taking care of her Lucky Puppy.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Patterson; parents, Zeak and Willie Mae Dryden, as well as long time friend, Elizabeth (DeeDee) Graves.

She is survived by her sister, Sherry Shipman and husband Dennis of Hardin, brother, Frosty Dryden and wife Dolly of Hardin, sister, Bobbie Van Horn and husband Charlie of Hardin, brother, Ed Dryden and wife Terri of Daisetta, brother, Mike Dryden and wife Marion of Canada, daughter Laura Morgan and husband John and three grandsons of Bridge City, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 10, 2014 at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel, with Reverend Bill Fabriguze and Brother David Stark officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Huntley

Vivian Lorice Huntley, age 90, of Livingston, formerly of Dayton died July 6, 2014 in Livingston, TX.

Vivian was born August 25, 1923 in Warren, AR daughter of the late Monroe and Margaret Patrick McKinney. Vivian was a housewife most of her life. She enjoyed fishing and loved to garden and crochet in her spare time. Vivian was a strong will person and always provided for her family. She will be missed by all.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Edward Franklin Huntley, grandchildren; Chad Huntley, Rhonda Huntley, Melissa Huntley, two brothers and five sisters. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons; Joe Huntley and wife Sandra of Dayton, Jerry Huntley and wife Diane of Baytown, James Huntley and wife Rita of Livingston, Bennie Huntley and wife Elizabeth of Livingston, Richard Huntley and wife Connie of Dayton, daughter; Sarah Peltier and husband David of Onalaska, brother; N.A. McKinney of Star City, AR, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services for Vivian Lorice Huntley will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 2pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX with burial to follow at Palms cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home.

Scheffer

Yolanda Marie Scheffer, 46, of Dayton, died Friday, July 4, 2014, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Yolanda was born August 17, 1967 in Houston, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 10 years. She was a graduate of the Sam Rayburn High School Class of 1987and a bartender at the Oaks Club in Dayton. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, shopping, gardening, and was an activist in the community.

Mrs. Scheffer was preceded in death by her mother: Mary Ann Cerda. She is survived by her husband: Alan Scheffer of Dayton, sons: Kevin Goodson of Dayton, Allen Goodson of Dayton, and Kenneth Scheffer and fiancé Emily of Dayton, sister: Angela Santos Villarreal and husband Tim of Houston, brothers: Frank Santos and wife Susan Sides of Austin, Matthew Trevino of Pasadena, Greg Santos of Baytown, Robert Santos and wife Tammy of Kemah, and Mike Cerda of Houston, grandchildren: Zachary Goodson, Shawn Goodson, Zaida Goodson, Grace Scheffer, Ruby Goodson, Carter Goodson, and Kaleb, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Daigle

Alice Carolyn Daigle, 84, of Tomball, TX, formerly of Port Neches, died on Friday July 4, 2014 at Tomball Medical Center.

A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Woody Sonnier officiating. Private interment will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. There will a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service time.

She was born November 3, 1929 in Liberty to Charles Ryan and Lillian Finklea and had lived in Port Neches for thirty years before moving to Tomball, and was an homemaker. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin Daigle and her parents. Survivors are her daughter Debbie Freeman and husband Gary of Tomball; grandchildren, Aaron Freeman of The Woodlands, Ashley Peterson of Lucas, TX, and one great grandchild, Carter Freeman.

Odum

Christine Allbritton Odum, age 90 of Liberty, died with her loving family by her side on July 4, 2014, in Kingwood, TX.

Christine was born August 10, 1923, in Beth Eden, MS, daughter of the late R.L. and Lummie McKay Allbritton. Christine graduated from Louisville High School in Mississippi and then went on to receive a degree in nursing from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA in 1944. After earning her RN certification, she worked as a school nurse in the Liberty school system for thirty years before retiring. Christine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberty and enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Otto Odum, son George Arthur Odum, brother Billy Allbritton, and sisters Jodie Lee McDavid, Nancy Sue Allbritton, Eva Kate Bridges, Myrtle Jeanette Miller and Ruth Justice. She leaves behind to cherish her memory sons Johnnie Douglas Odum and wife Deborah of Boulder, CO, Michael Glen Odum and wife Susan of Liberty, daughter Margaret Annette and husband Lt Col (ret) Jack Oden of Leesburg, VA, daughter-in-law Anne Bossley Odum of Lufkin, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Christine Allbritton Odum will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014, from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Main, Liberty, TX. Burial will be at Houston National cemetery at 11am on Thursday, July 10, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Christine to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston.

James Coldman "Jake" Loftin 98 of Thicket, TX, died on Friday July 4, 2014 at Kountze Nursing Center. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday July 7, 2014 at 10:00A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Frank Aragon officiating. Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday July 6, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Faith & Family. Jake was born October 14, 1915 to Wiley Loftin and Myra Rosier in Thicket, and was a lifelong resident of Thicket, and he had worked as a pumper for Mobil. He was preceded in death by his parents; Wiley Loftin and Myra Rosier, wife; Katherine Perkins Loftin, daughters; Wennette Loftin, and Jeanine Taylor. Brother Arlen Loftin and one sister; Jettie Lee Hughes. Survivors are his daughters Annette Cotten and husband Joe of Thicket, Jeannette Kelley of Thicket, and Norma Creel of Thicket. Grandchildren are Roger Moore of Thicket, Billy Earl Taylor of Thicket, Ronnie Taylor of Thicket, Robert Taylor of Thicket, Kevin "Buck" Taylor of Thicket, DeWayne Kelley of Thicket, Sandi Munson of Thicket, Randy Kelley of Thicket, Tony Cotton of Lumberton, Coleman Cotton of Buna, Brian Cotton of Thicket, Gayla Kirkland of Votaw, Kathy Ryan of Kountze, Timmy Creel of Thicket, and Wesley Creel of Thicket. Great grandchildren; thirty two, great- great grandchildren; twenty, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Serving as pallbearers are Billy Earl Taylor, DeWayne Kelley, Randy Kelley, Tony Cotten, Brian Cotten, and Timmy Creel.

Williams

Stephen Joseph Williams, age 52, of Dayton, died on July 2, 2014 in Humble, TX.

Stephen was born January 14, 1962 in Liberty, TX, son of the late Solomon Thadeous Williams Jr and Willie Mae Gradney Williams. Stephen was a master mechanic and worked for Hlavinka Equipment out of Nome, TX. He loved to work on the farm and especially loved his cows and animals. He also loved to fish and was a private man until it came to his family. He will be missed by all.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Desiree’ Marie Williams-Schubert. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters; Ashley Williams of Dayton, Savannah Marie Williams of Worland, WY, brother; Gerard Williams-Derbonne and wife Hillary of California, sister; Leilani Ann Williams-Hardy of Dallas, TX and three nieces.

Services for Stephen Joseph Williams will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dayton. Visitation will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX.

Mitschke

Patrick Henry “Ricky” Mitschke, 70, of Splendora died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Kingwood, Texas.

He was born March 17, 1944 in Houston, Texas to parents Arnold Oswald “Tony” Mitschke and Violet “Mae” Redwine Mitschke and had been a lifelong resident of Splendora and was a brick mason. Ricky served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, being with his family and classic autos.

Services for Ricky will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Shiflet officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 4, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Mr. Mitschke was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tony Lyn Mitschke. He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Judy Ann Swarthout Mitschke of Splendora; his son: Douglas Mitschke of Splendora; his daughter: Connie Tyler of Splendora; three sisters: Antoinette Matthews and husband Elster “Bubba” of Splendora, Deborah Richardson and husband Bobby of Splendora, Denise Dean and husband Kenneth of Splendora; six grandchildren: Patrick Tyler, Sarah Tyler, Brian Mitschke, Heaven Mitschke, Derek Mitschke, and Madison Mitschke; great-grandchild: Carson Rauch and one on the way; his pet: Tippy; numerous other relatives and friends.

Swearingen

Alice M. Navarre Swearingen, 84, of Conroe, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at the Conroe Regional Medical Center in Conroe.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland with burial following at Felps (also known as Phelps) cemetery in Thicket. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Alice was born August 17, 1929 in White Castle, Louisiana, to parents; Henry and Bernadette Boudreaux Navarre, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Conroe for the past 37 years. She was a retired beautician and attended Lakewood Church. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, and enjoying hummingbirds and squirrels in nature.

Mrs. Swearingen was preceded in death by her husband: James A. Swearingen, parents: Henry and Bernadette Navarre, brother: Harry and sister: Bernice. She is survived by her sons: Randall Swearingen of Jersey Village, Kenneth Swearingen of Conroe, and Keith Swearingen and wife Marlene of Humble, grandchildren: Jason, Mark, Mickey, Charles, Joseph, Michael, Ryan, and Mandy Swearingen; brother: Henry Swearingen; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Murphy

Mary Lee Warren Murphy, 90, of Liberty died Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Liberty Health Care Center.

She was born December in Segno, Texas to parent Luther Odis and Mary Cain Warren. A lifelong resident of Liberty she had worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elbert Watson Murphy and her grandson, Shawn Michael Murphy. She is survived by her sons: Larry Don Murphy of Humble and John Michael Murphy of Onalaska; grandchildren: Allison Stoner and husband Mickey, Karen Fagerquest and husband Allen, Tammie Nicar and husband Johnie, and Elizabeth Hendrix; great-grandchildren: Alexis Cotton and husband John, Brittney Thibodeaux, Brooklyn Goodman, Jordan Murphy, Karen Stoner, Hannah Allison, Ethan Fagerquest, and Erin Fagerquest; numerous other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff of Liberty Health Care Nursing Home for the years of love and care.

Michael Nicholson, Sr, 66, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at a local hospital in Houston, Texas.

Celebration of his life will be Saturday, July 05, 2014 at 1:00pm at Wells Funeral Service Chapel, 300 Alabama Street in Liberty, Texas.

David Mata, 2, of Dayton, Died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Iglesia Cristiana Ebenezer in Dayton with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home and continue 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

David was born February 28, 2012, to parents; Juan Diego Mata and Araceli Aguilar, and has resided in Dayton throughout his life.

David is survived by his mother: Araceli Aguilar, father: Juan Diego Mata, brothers and sisters: Yoselyn, Briana, and Diego Emanuel Mata, grandparents: Raymundo and Juan Aguilar and Elvia and Urbaro Mata, great-grandparents: Felipa and Andres Medina, Felipa Aguilar, and Matilde Mata, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Kathryn “Granny - Nonny” Cone Walker, 76, of Dayton, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, with family by her side in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Dayton First Assembly of God Church with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Kathryn was born November 28, 1937 in Dayton, to parents; Ben and Marie Kresh Cone, and has resided in Dayton throughout her life. She was a homemaker and seamstress, member of the Dayton First Assembly of God Church, former election pole judge, and member of Tribe of Judah. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting, cooking, and doll making.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband: Elie Walker, son: Wilber Elie “Bubba” Walker, Jr., father: Ben Cone, mother: Marie E. Kresh Cone, and brother: David Cone. She is survived by her daughters: Brenda Martin and husband Tommy of Liberty, Gale Butcher and husband Frankie of Dayton, Janet Sanders and husband Ben of Nacogdoches, Lisa Rossow and husband Gary of Dayton, and Chandra Green and husband Alex of Dayton, sister: Madeline Grimes and husband Charles of Cleveland, grandchildren: David Butcher, Terry Butcher, Jennifer Mercer, Brad Butcher, Racheal Martin, Rebekah Brand, Andrea Martin, Brandy Martin, Amanda Wilson, Meagan Rossow, Blake Rossow, Ashley Green, and Cody Green, great-grandchildren: Triston Butcher, Bailey Butcher, Austin Butcher, Arianna Butcher, Jaxon Mercer, Jacob Mercer, Jenna Kay Brand, Jonah Brand, Tommy Lane Martin, Allie Marie Martin, Samuel Langford, David Langford, Jacob Martin, and Kendall Wilson, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
