Clark

Norman “Doc” Wayne Clark age 80 died Sunday June 29, 2014 at Liberty-Dayton Regional Hospital.

Doc was born Devers, Texas June 23, 1934 the son of the late Corbett Clark and Lora Harris Clark. He worked for many years for the railroad as a switchman and Brakeman. He also served as the Devers Drainage Commissioner and served in the US ARMY from 1957-1959. Doc was willing to do just about anything for anybody. He loved his family and spending time with them. He especially enjoyed gardening and fishing. He will be remembered as a devoted and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Doc was also a member of the Daisetta United Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters Helen Allen and Betty Jean Copeland, and a brother James “Sammy” E. Clark.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Billie Jean Clark, sons Kevin W. Clark, Robert R. Moore, David W. Moore, Mike Holmes, and Gary Holmes, and his daughter Deborah “Rose” A. Moore, sisters; Doris Garner, Peggy Clark, and Jeanette Burrell. In addition he leaves his ten grandchildren, David Holmes, Daniel Holmes, Noah Holmes, Richard Moore, Dustin Moore, Shane Moore, Candice M. Villereal, Candice J. Moore, Derrick Rose, and Dylan Rose. In addition he leaves numerous great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and dear friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Doc will be held Tuesday July 1, 2013 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 10AM Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Daisetta United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Lonnie Jordan to officiate. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service in Stacy cemetery. Acting as Pallbearers will be Richard Moore, Dustin Moore, Shane Moore, Derrick Rose, Dylan Rose, and Corbett Clark.

Neal

Raymond Ernest “Junior” Neal, 81, of Dayton, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at his residence following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with burial following at Linney cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Raymond was born March 25, 1933 in Denton Valley, and has resided in the Dayton area since 1967. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He and his wife have owned Neal Construction Company for thirty six years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved and respected by his family. He was involved in the community and always willing to lend a hand. He was considered by all to be “A Man's Friend". He enjoyed fishing, dancing, gardening and hunting.

Mr. Neal was preceded in death by his mother: Ruby E. Sneed Beck, brother: Clarence Edward Sneed, and grandmother: Sarah Sabrina Bennett Sneed. He is survived by his wife of 36 years: Gaye McAllister Neal of Dayton, daughters: Alicia M. Brooks of Dayton and Pam Hillier and husband Franklin of Dayton, sons: Boyd Neal of Dayton, Brad Alan Neal and wife Stacey of Dayton, and Christian Brendan Neal of Kingwood, sister: Sally Evelyn Hooper of Abilene, grandchildren: Brad Alan Neal, Jr., Kassie Neal, Brie Brooks Short, Landon Neal, Brendon Neal, Blake Neal, and Boyd Alan Neal, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to thank Billie French, Sabra King, Debbie Bederka, and Clara Villafan, for their care given to Raymond.

Willoughby

Jo Beth Willoughby, 65, died at her home in Liberty on June 28, 2014 surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 43 years, Pete Willoughby; daughters Amy Whitehead and husband Jay, Becky Mayes and husband J.J. Grandchildren are Luke and Loren Whitehead and Sydney, Baxter and Casey Mayes. Other family members include her sister Carolyn Wilkinson and husband Grey; mother-in-law Jo Willoughby; brother-in-law Mike Willoughby and wife Kay, Gary Willoughby and wife Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jo Beth taught English at both Liberty High School and Hardin High School. After her retirement, she enjoyed travelling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberty and enjoyed serving the church in any capacity that she could. She especially cherished her time as a member of the handbell choir.

She is preceded in death by her parents E.C. and Ruth Parker; brother Alan Parker; and father-in-law C.M. Willoughby Jr. The Family would especially like to express their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Holland of Beaumont as well as the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson in Houston for providing such wonderful care. Special thanks to Lanelda and Michele from Harbor Hospice for their care and compassion during her final days. As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made to a local college scholarship fund.

Services for Jo Beth Willoughby will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, June 30, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Ranges

Odessa Lynn Ranges, 41, died June 27, 2014 after twenty years of captivity in a body broken and paralyzed from an accident to be with our Heavenly Father.

Odessa was born February 22, 1973 in El Paso, Texas to parents Paul E. Ranges of Montgomery, Texas and Marquita Berry Ranges of Dayton, Texas. She attended Dayton Schools starting in the 7th grade when her family moved to Dayton. She was active in Academic UIL competitions, Young Women’s youth group at the Latter Day Saints Church in Liberty, Texas, Rainbow Girls of Dayton, Texas, and wrote for the Baytown Sun Teen Times for 3 years. She was a member of the Junior National Honor Society and National Honor Society, and her favorite was being a Dayton Dazzler in high school. Odessa graduated in the top 10 of her class in 1991 at Montgomery High School, Montgomery, Texas. She attended the University of Texas El Paso for one year, got home sick, returned home and attended schools in Houston to pursue a Media Journalism career until her accident in 1994.

Odessa is survived by her parents, brothers Robert E. Ranges, of Dayton, Texas and Paul John Ranges and wife Tammi, of Cleveland, Texas; nephews Jordan Ranges and Tyler Ranges, of Nome, Texas.

A visitation with the family will be on Monday, June 30, 2014, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 331 Vera Lane, Liberty, Texas.

Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to the Dayton High School Dazzlers or to the Shriner’s Children Burn Center in Galveston, Texas.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Barrow

Larry Don "Boody" Barrow, born December 13th 1954, passed June 25th 2014.

He was preceded in death by his father Elro and mother Willie Mae Barrow.

He is survived by his sister Josie and nephew Kyle Walker. A native son of Anahuac Texas, he was a graduate of the class of 1973 from Anahuac High School where he then proceeded to work for Chambers County for his entire life.

He was a proud member of the Anahuac Lodge of Freemasons. Friends are invited to join family in celebration of his life, at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac Texas on Sunday June 29th from 3-5 for visitation and a small service.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.

Harris

Verda Mae Harris, age 92 of Liberty, died June 27, 2014 in Liberty with her loving family by her side.

Verda was born November 15, 1921 in Homer, Louisiana, daughter of the late Archie Boe Elliott Holland and Mary Emma McCravy Holland. She attended New London High School and was a purchasing agent for Kersting Hospital. Verda was a member of the Liberty Eastern Star Chapter 634 where she was a past Matron. She loved to cook, was an active member of Heights Baptist Church and was the Sunday school secretary for well over thirty years. Verda and her late husband loved to travel and camp. They visited Big Bend many times and even drove all the way to Alaska for a trip. She will be missed by all.

Verda was preceded in death by her parents, husband; James Ross Harris Jr, sisters; Emma Genettie Jimmerson, Valeria Ferrell and brother; Robert Dale Holland. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son; Jim Harris of Liberty, daughter; Vanita Vance of College Station, TX, grandchildren; James Ray Harris Jr of Austin, TX, Paul Harris of Mount Belvieu, TX, Austin Vance of College Station, TX, Caroline Vance of College Station, TX, great-grandchildren; Michael Wells of Liberty and Preston Harris of Mount Belvieu, TX.

Services for Verda Mae Harris will be Monday, June 30, 2014 at 2pm at Heights Baptist Church in Liberty with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Verda to your local Hospice Center.

McCann

Betty Marie Fregia McCann 69, of Liberty, and New Caney, died on Wednesday June 25, 2014 at her residence in New Caney.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday June 30, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at The Pentecostal Tabernacle in Liberty, with Reverend Sue Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery in Liberty. The family will be receiving friends on Monday June 30, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

She was born December 10, 1944 in Liberty, to William Eugene Fregia and Maxine Ray and had lived in Liberty, most of her life before moving to New Caney, where she lived for twenty three years.

She was preceded in death by her father; William Eugene Fregia, stepmother; Alice Fregia, stepfather; Tommy Jackson Sr. Brothers Tommy Manuel Jackson and B.F. "Bustie" Gaston.

Her hobbies were being with her three precious dogs Missy, Ollie, and Little Bit also she enjoyed setting on the porch with her family and being out doors.

She is survived by her husband of twenty four years Kenneth McCann of New Caney, mother; Maxine Ray of Cleveland, stepmother; Alfie May Jackson of Casey Ridge, TX. Brothers; Chester Fregia and friend Betty Henderson of Liberty, Bill Fregia and wife Nita of Liberty, James Gaston and wife Ellen of Hull, Kenneth Fregia and wife Sharon of Crosby, Curtis Fregia and wife Alma Jo of Hardin. Sisters are Emma Coogler of Cleveland, and Joyce Tanton of Liberty, and also numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great-great niece and a host of loving friends. Serving as pallbearers are Curtis Fregia, Kenny Fregia, Chad Fregia, Jimmie Fregia, Bubba Owens, Mike Owens, Honorary pallbearers are Chester Fregia, Bill Fregia, James Gaston, Jerry Fregia, and Tammy Thompson.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. 40847 Hwy 105E. Batson, Texas 77519.

Benoit

Michael K. “Mike” Benoit, 65, of Dayton, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, June 30, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mike was born February 14, 1949 in Port Arthur, a former resident of Louisiana, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 11 years. He was a carpenter, a former steel worker, and enjoyed playing music, fishing, hunting, and playing dominoes.

Mr. Benoit was preceded in death by his father: Henry Benoit, mother: Lillian Goulas Ross, and a grandson. He is survived by his wife of 14 years: Sharon Gorton Benoit of Dayton, daughter: Melondy Stokes of Baytown, sons: Michael M. Benoit of Dayton, Randall Kershaw of Gordonville, and John D. Benoit of Dayton, sister: Jessica Thompson of Arkansas, brothers: Jerry Benoit of Louisiana and Clayton Benoit of Groves, 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Smith

Donald Louis Smith, 82, of Splendora died June 26, 2014. He was born July 16, 1931 in San Antonio. His parents were Joe G. and Mary Gist Smith.

The Smith family moved to Splendora in 1970 from Houston. He worked for Brown and Root as a heavy equipment inspector and was owner operator of the Smith Gun Shop in Splendora. Donald enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He cherished spending time with his family. He was very active in AA and had just celebrated 47 years of sobriety in May. Donald also was co-founder of the Splendora AA that meets at the Country Side Methodist Church each Monday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Donald and his wife Frances are members of the Splendora First Baptist Church.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Splendora First Baptist Church with Rev Bob Grayson officiating. Visitation for Mr. Smith will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. Interment will follow at Splendora City cemetery.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Joseph Smith. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances Smith of Splendora; three daughters, Anna Lois Boyett and husband Richard, Carol Dishongh and husband Harold, and Linda Willis and husband Larry; two sons, Jay Smith and wife Sissy and Donald Lee “Red” Smith and wife Tracy; thirteen grandchildren, Jamie and Lindsey Boyett, Jana Boyett-Buller, John and Keith Willis, Rachel Willis-Coleman, Carli, Skyler, and Jake Smith, Cori Smith Christensen, Jeremy and Kayla Smith and Faith Dishongh; nine great-grandchildren, Anna Beth and Maggie Mae Willis, Hayden and Hannah Coleman, Ramsey and Piper Smith, Addi and Presley Christensen, and Juliet Buller; also a host of other friends.

Gaskamp

Judith Elaine Gaskamp, 66, of Cleveland, Texas, died on June 18, 2014 at her home.

She was born on December 8, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to parents Troy D. and Frances Conway Berry. She attended cosmetology school and always loved having her hair and nails done. She enjoyed all family gatherings, especially going to the beach with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Gaskamp was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Danny Gaskamp Sr., four sons; Danny Gaskamp Jr., Richard Gaskamp Sr., Benjamin B.F. Gaskamp and Michael Gaskamp, one daughter, Kitty M. Wells, sisters; Phyliss Roberts and Katherine Reno Jenkens, brother, Troy D. Berry Jr., nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

No public services are planned at this time. Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Services, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas.

Granger

Linda Lea Granger, 65, of Liberty, died Monday June 23, 2014. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

She lived a life dedicated to the Lord. She was a licensed cosmetologist for 45 years. She was a giver. She could always make people laugh. When she loved you, you knew you were loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Granger and Velma Granger Desormeaux; great nephew, Jeremy Thomas; uncle, Gene Broussard.

She is survived by her daughters, Misty Dawn Abalos and husband Frank of Winnie and Michelle Vaughn and husband of Millard of Douglas, TX; grandchildren, Autumn Bertrand and husband Taylor of Winnie, Leah Abalos of Winnie, Justin Vaughn of Douglas and Jaydon Vaughn of Douglas; great grandchild Emma Taylor Bertrand of Winnie; step-dad, Francis Desormeaux of Anahuac; sisters, Georgene Grounds of Corsicana, Judy Compton of Hardin and Lisa Ruddick and husband Kenneth of LaPorte; aunt, Beulah Broussard of Florida; nieces and nephews, Tammy Kay Manuel of Hardin, Wayne Olin Manuel of Washington, Jessica Dequent and husband Zach of LaPorte, Brandy Morace of Beaumont, Greg Ruddick of Wichita Falls, Mike Ruddick of Washington, Kimberly Sullivan of Austin, great nephew, Jaret Thomas of Hardin, great niece, Loren Manuel and numerous great nieces and great nephews and other family.

Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Thursday June 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday June 27, 2014 at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Gideon Watson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Abalos, Millard Vaughn, Jaret Thomas, Kenneth Ruddick, Zachary Dequent, Taylor Bertrand and A.C. Manuel.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Hayes

Wilton Jack Hayes, 88, a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and longtime resident of Anahuac, died peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Arboretum Nursing Home in Winnie.

Jack was born in Orange, Texas to Brady and Lorraine Hayes on February 13, 1926. Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from Exxon in 1981 after 35 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ann Hayes; daughter Karen Snow and husband Joe Ray, of Santos, TX; grandsons Chandler Snow and wife Michele and Brady Snow; granddaughter Janna Willingham and husband Paul. Jack had five great grandchildren Kennedy and Gracie Snow, Bradyn Snow and Macyn and Luke Willingham.

A visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 South Main St, in Anahuac.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at The First United Methodist of Anahuac, 204 Trinity St., with Rev. Eddie H. Hillyer officiating.

A private burial will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Services are under the directions of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.
