Charles Lee Dark, 96, of Cleveland, died Monday, June 2, 2014, in Cleveland.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, at First United Methodist Church in Cleveland with burial following at the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 303 East Crockett, Cleveland.

Charles was born, March 30, 1918 in Winnfield, Winn Parish, Louisiana to his parents, Clarence Lee Dark and Eugenia Sowers Dark. Mr. Dark was a longtime resident of Cleveland where he was owner and operator of a retail business. Charles served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Dark was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Lee Dark and Eugenia Sowers Dark; his wife, Cecelia Faye Russell Dark; daughter-in-law, Peggy Bear Dark and great-granddaughter, Riley Ann Dark.

He is survived by his children: Charles Kent Dark and wife, Claire, Russell Lee Dark and wife, Jeannette, Martha Louise Dark Bounds and husband, Craig; grandchildren: Jeremy Dark and wife, Kami; Marissa Johnson and husband, Robert; Lauren Bounds; Jonathan Dark and wife, Jana; Kimberly Barnett and husband, Mark; Benjamin Dark; Andrew Bounds and wife, Abby; Rachel Barron and husband, Julio; Ryan Bounds and wife, Lauren; and Elaina Dark; great-grandchildren: Robert, Jr., Lexy, Peggy, Camryn, Karlee, Chloe, Brynlee, Jackson, Sypris, Braden, Creed, and Carson.

Rolison

Roy Lee Rolison, 73 of Cleveland, Texas, died Tuesday, June 3 2014.

He was born August 31, 1940, in Eustace, Texas, to parents, Roy Franklin Rolison and Ora Lee Harrington Rolison.

Mr. Rolison was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Meadors Rolison; daughter, Julie Litzler and husband Ron; son, Jeff Rolison; sisters, Betty Kopecky and husband Lonnie, Geraldine Fleck and husband Marcus; brother, Delwin Rolison and wife Joy; grandchildren, Megan, Cody, and Nicole Rolison, Aaron and Tyler Litzler; numerous nieces, nephews, a host of other family members and friends.

Mr. Rolison served his country proudly in the United States Navy from November 9, 1961 to November 8, 1967. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal – Vietnam and the 1st Good Conduct Medal Award for period ending November 8, 1965. He loved tractors, gardening, woodworking, traveling and music. Roy lived a well-rounded life, was loved beyond measure and will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with graveside following at Ryan cemetery, Tarkington, Texas.

Morgan

Donald Craig Morgan, 56, of Cleveland died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Conroe.

He was born April 16, 1958 in Cleveland to parents, Donald Leon and Anna Marie Reisner Morgan. Craig graduated from Tarkington High School in 1977 where he was an avid high school athlete participating in football, baseball and track. He was also an FFA member and played drums in the FFA talent band. Craig was a great father to his children and was happy to support them in all their activities. He was a longtime active volunteer in his community, especially in 4H, FFA and the school board. He loved spending time with family and friends. Craig also enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Graveside services for Mr. Morgan will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Oak Shade cemetery in Tarkington. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loyal companion, Karla Codina; daughter, Jessica Mazoch and husband Scott; son, Thomas Morgan and wife Ali; grandchildren, Jason Mazoch, Machelle and Gabe Morgan; brother, Ronnie Morgan; also numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Hart

Clarence Albert Hart, Jr., (our Punkin), died June 2, 2014, at Christus, St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 81 years and 88 days.

He loved God, his country and his family. He attended Mt. Calvary Baptist church in Marysee (Batson, Texas), served in the U.S. Army in Panama, and was Santa Claus, the Easter bunny and the big brother to nine other siblings.

He was predeceased by wife Dorothy Marie (Strahan) of Rye, parents, Verna Lee (Turner)Hart and Clarence Albert Hart, Sr., sisters, Melba Hart High and husband Billy, Betty Lee Hart Chenoweth and husband Jessie, Marjorie Hart Strickland Spangler, and brother, Thomas Wayne Hart as well as beloved nephews, Kenneth Lee Holbrook and Christopher Hughes Arnold.

Clarence was born in Groveton, Texas and had lived over 50 years in Rye, TX, where hunting and fishing were his full-time hobbies. He was a retired employee of Liberty County. He was very proud of being the oldest of a huge family and for reading his Bible cover to cover several years in a row and never missing a Sunday sermon at Mt. Calvary until his health declined.

Punkin leaves behind a step-son, Aury Gene Richey and wife Kae of Port Neches, brothers Floyd Hart and wife Pat of Houston, Lester Hart and wife Myra of Pearland, sisters Clara and Rick Yoss of Rowlett, Texas, Beverly and Steve Ryan of Vienna, West Virginia, Dorothy Dean and children, Jay and Justine. There are numerous nieces and nephews and their children that loved Uncle Punkin.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Clavary Baptist Church. A service of remembrance is scheduled for Saturday June 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church on Hwy 105 between Moss Hill and Batson. Bro. Carlton Bailey will officiate. Interment will follow at the Guedry cemetery located off HWY 770, 11713 Batson Prairie Road, Batson, Texas.

Guinn

Harvie Lee Guinn, 78, of Dayton, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Harvie was born November 27, 1935 in Seminole, OK, to parents; William I. and Dora M. Snow Guinn, a former resident of Corpus Christi, and has resided in Dayton for the past 30 years. He was a retired machinist from Austin Industries, volunteered with Boy Scouts and Little League, and was registered with Muscogee Creek Nation. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Guinn was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 59 years: Nancy I. Orsack Guinn, daughter: Pamela Sue Mills, sisters: Rachael Christine Guinn and Ora Loretta Huntington, and brother-in-law: Gordon Huntington, Sr. He is survived by his son: Ron L. Guinn and wife Michelle of Dayton, daughter: Patricia A. Griffin and husband Terry of Dayton, grandchildren: Joshua Mills, Michael Mills, Beverly Guinn, Derek Guinn, Keegan Griffin, Tonya Gangluff and husband Paul, and Stacy Sutton, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dugat

Mr. Harry Dugat, 73, of Dayton died, May 25, 2014 in Sylacauga, Alabama. He was born in Dayton on October 16, 1940 to parents Joe Welder Dugat and Henrietta Gates Dugat.

Harry was a lifelong resident of Dayton, attended Dayton schools, and worked for many years at Milchem before his retirement. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Harry enjoyed music, hunting, and fishing. He most of all enjoyed talking to his friends and never seemed be at a loss for words. He loved being with his family.

Services for Mr. Dugat will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Faircloth officiating. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at the funeral home.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 25 years, Julia Annette Wilcher Dugat. He is survived by his daughters: Lisa Chandler and husband, Jimmy of Sylacauga, Alabama and Debbie Chennault and husband, Darrel of Crosby; his son: Harry 'Bud' Dugat and wife, Dana of Tarkington; grandchildren: James Landrum, Jr. of Alabama, Amanda Landrum of Crosby, Beverlie Jahnke of Crosby, Brandon Chennault of Crosby, and Kerri Chapman of Tarkington; numerous great grandchildren; brother: Joe Dugat of Hutig, Arkansas; sister: Frances Fore of Liberty; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ibarra

Joe Ibarra, age 8 month old son of Efrain Ibarra and Edna Ibarra of Dayton, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas after a brief Illness.

Services for Joe will be Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Iglesia Cristiana Vida Eterna in Dayton with Reverend Cleto Tovar officiating.

Joe was born August 26, 2013 in Houston, Texas. He was a happy baby, who brought joy to those who knew and loved him.

Joe is survived by his parents, Edna Ibarra and Efrain Ibarra; grandparents, Baltazar and Nabora Ibarra and Juan and Nelly Ibarra; aunts, Mirka, Lynda and Melissa; Uncles Angel, Baltazar, Jr., Edgar William, Christopher, Eder, Oscar, Ascencion, Juan, Josue and Kevin.

Fregia

Raymond (George) Fregia, 67, of Dayton, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 and he was born October 10, 1946 in Liberty, Texas.

He was preceded in death by parents Hubert & Bertha Mae Fregia, brothers Charles and Kenneth Fregia and sister Opal Mott.

He is survived by wife: Lolly M Fregia; sons: Richard Keith Fregia and wife Misti, James Patrick Miller and wife Pamela; daughters: Julie Michelle Peak, Lana Marie Webb.

Grandchildren Morgan and Rhett Fregia, Andy Miller, Cody Roberts, Cassie Fregia and 1 great grandchild Azeleigh Fregia. Sister Joyce and husband Bill Vanya, numerous nieces and nephews and numerous family and friends.

Mr. Fregia request that there be no services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home Dayton, Texas.

Krull

Mary Frances 'Fran' Krull, 71 of Cleveland, Texas, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014.

She was born June 22, 1942, in Harlingen, Texas, to parents, John Spruce Varnon and Anna Marie Finley Varnon. She was loved beyond measure and will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Varnon; sister, Dora May; children, Matthew Krull and Meredith Krull; granddaughter, Jessica Sage and niece, Kelle Johns Krull.

Survivors include her husband, William 'Bill' Krull; mother, Anna Marie Finley Varnon; daughters, Marina Brown, Marla Schroder, Sarah Hall, Monique Sage, and Debbie Krull; son, John Krull; sister, Myrt Krull; brothers, Jimmy Varnon, Johnny Varnon and Coy Varnon; grandchildren, Meredith Lee, Stefan Wright, Randall Brown, Will Schroder, Merris Schroder, Micah Schroder, Hannah Sage, Hunter Sage, Ethan Hall, Ryan Hall, Ashlyn Hall and Ashley Webb; great-grandchildren, Sophia Lee, Olivia Lee, Destiny Lee and Kaidence Stanford; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, 2014, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mary's name for Memorial Masses.

Somers

Linda Annette Somers, 62, of Sour Lake, died Friday May 23, 2014.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Kountze. She was loved and adored by her family and friends.

"He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it." --- Isaiah 25:8...

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of over 40 years, Clyde F. Somers, Sr. and her father, Roy Williamson.

She is survived by her mother, Geraldine Witzke of Enid, Oklahoma; children, Sandra Somers and husband Jimmie Mullins of Kountze, Clyde Somers, Jr. and wife Karla of Sour Lake and Shannon Somers, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Leslie Davis Kettery, Bradley Davis, Kasee Rae, Somers Reed and Chase Somers and 8 great grandchildren; nieces, Kristi Williamson and Kaci Williamson, siblings, Diana Lucio, Cindy True, Craig Williamson, Bruce Williamson and George Witzke; special friends, Mary Elliott, Alura Kelly and Ginger Studensky.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday May 30, 2014 at Pine Ridge Baptist Church of Sour Lake.

Arrangements are under the direction of Faith & Family Funeral Services, 40847 E., Batson, TX, 77519.

Scroggins

Nancy Marie Laub Scroggins, born November 17 1953 in East Cleveland Ohio, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, age 60, died January 29 2014 in Manchester, CT.

Nancy is survived by her husband Dr. Charles W. Scroggins, her daughter Mary Catherine Scroggins Vlaar, and her son Charles W. Scroggins, Junior. Surviving grandchildren are Dyllon Scroggins, Liam Scroggins, and Arianna Marie Vlaar. Her brother Charles Laub (Houston TX), her sister Shirley Murrell (Pasadena TX), numerous nieces and nephews, and her three loving canine companions George (Yorkie), Laura, and Mr. Bean (Boston Terriers), also survive Nancy.

After a memorial service held at Trinity Covenant Church in Manchester, Connecticut Monday February 3 2014, Nancy's committal and interment will be in the Scroggins family cemetery in Old Snake River Estates, Texas on June 5, 2014 at Twelve Noon.

A Celebration of Nancy's Life by family and friends follows her internment at Beth Scroggins' residence adjacent to the cemetery. The celebration will include Texas Barbeque and music. Dress will be Texas Summer Casual.

Chambliss

Audrey Jean Chambliss, age 85, a long-time resident of Anahuac, TX, died Friday, May 23, 2014.

Born April 4, 1929 in Alvin, Texas, to Henry and Margaret Durant, she attended Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women’s University) and graduated with a Bachelors in Science. She received her Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University. Audrey studied journalism and wrote for the Houston Post and the Baytown Sun. She became a school teacher and taught second grade for over 30 years. On April 26, 1952, Audrey married Jack Edward Chambliss and went on to raise three children.

Audrey was a social butterfly and active in her community. She played piano beautifully and taught many Anahuac children how to play. She was a member of the Love Notes, a musical group that plays for church events, a member of the Fine Arts Society and a civil service sorority member for over 60 years. She loved her home on the bayland and watching the amazing sunsets. Audrey’s unyielding faith was admirable and she contributed greatly to her church, First Baptist Church of Anahuac, serving on the finance committee to count offerings each Sunday and teaching Sunday School.

Audrey will be remembered for her quick wit, spirit, and charm. Her intelligence and knowledge of the world around her made it a joy to spend time with Audrey. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and anything to keep her mind sharp. Audrey loved playing cards and traveling with her girlfriends. In her later years, her daughter taught her how to use Facebook and Audrey reveled in keeping up with family and friends. She adored her family and maintained a strong bond with her children, granddaughter, and great grandsons.

Audrey is loved dearly and will be missed tremendously by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack. She is survived by her children, Barney Chambliss of Anahuac, Cissy Closson and husband Jeff of Austin, Dan Chambliss and wife Holli of Baytown, and her granddaughter, Macy Douglas and husband John, and her great grandchildren, Jack and Drew Douglas. She is also survived by her sisters, Bettye Epperson and Margie Snyder and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Anahuac, Texas. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Hillyard officiating.

Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Funeral services are under the directions Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.
