McCown

Patricia Modean Cherry McCown, of Cleveland died, Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Kingwood, Texas at 72 years age.

Patricia was born April 8, 1942 in Havana, Arkansas, to her parents, Claude Cherry and Florence Jane Robinson Cherry.

She was a pastor's wife for many years and served faithfully at Crossroads Assembly of God for more than 26 years.

She loved quilting and made beautiful quilts to share with loved ones.

Patricia loved children and enjoyed having a home daycare for many years.

Service for Mrs. McCown will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Splendora Assembly of God in Splendora, Texas with Rev. Glenn Mead officiating. Interment will follow at Montague cemetery in Cleveland.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014, Pace Stancil Funeral Home at 303 Crockett, Cleveland, TX 77327.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Florence Jane Robinson Cherry, husbands, Max Battles and Rev. Ernest McCown, and daughter, Theresa Plunkett.

She is survived by sons, Max Battles, Jr. of Cleveland and Doug McCown and wife, Cindy of Cleveland; grandchildren: Dana Rogers, Darrell Cobb, Samantha Plunkett, Max Battles, III, Chase Battles and Tanner, Hunter and Skyler McCown; Great-Grandchildren: Seth and Summer Cobb; Jason, Carley and Trinity Rogers;

Sister: Geneva Scrimsher of Carlisle, Arkansas; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bacon

Kyle Ed Bacon, 25 of Dayton, Texas died Monday, May 5, 2014 was born July 25, 1988 in Idabel, Oklahoma.

Kyle enjoyed hunting, fishing, mudding and watching racing. Kyle loved and cherished his son and daughter and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Ashley Bacon; daughter: Natalie Bacon; son: Dalton Bacon; father: Gary Bacon; mother and step father: Randa Warren and husband Greg; sisters: Verranda Taylor and husband Dustin and Aterra Warren; grandparents: Curtis and Norma Carter and Kenny and Marilyn Zwahr; father and mother-in-law: Larry and Kathy Hanna; brothers-in-law: Jason Hanna and wife Allison and Kevan Zwahr and wife Erica. Also, Kyle is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

A visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. in Dayton, Texas.

Funeral services for Kyle will be on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of Sterling in Dayton, Texas.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Boles

Auda Boles, age 98 and a resident of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Cleveland, Texas.

She was born April 24, 1916, in Leon County, Texas to Thomas Samuel Shaw and Gertie Ann Smith Shaw. She loved gardening and just being outdoors as a hobby. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Boles is preceded in death by her parents; husband J. B. Boles; son J. C. Boles and grandson Del Butler.

Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Butler and husband Jimmy; brother, George Shaw and wife Dee; grandchildren, Tommy Boles, Verleen Bolton, Dee Barfield, Jeff Butler, Casey Butler and Tracy Butler; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Brother Melvin Holifield will preside over the services held Wednesday, May 7, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with internment following at Cleveland Memorial cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

Southard

Linda Kay Wheeler Bahm Southard, 65, of Cleveland died Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born October 17, 1948 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Earl Mars Wheeler and Miriam Bullock Wheeler.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Hayden officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Southard was preceded in death by parents, sister, Pat Purswell, brother, Franklin Earl Wheeler, and her husband, James Southard. She is survived by one son, Gerald E. Bahm and wife Lynne of Cleveland; two brothers, Michael D. Wheeler and wife Patricia and Royce L. Wheeler and wife Rebecca; aunt, Dorothy Racca, also numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Loftin

Hank L. Loftin, 62, of Saratoga, TX, died Sunday May 4, 2014. A native of Trinity, he lived in Thicket/Saratoga for 48 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Golfing. He retired from Temple Inland, where he worked for almost 30 years. After retirement, he served as Commissioner and Board of Director for West Hardin Youth Sports, for almost a decade.

His family will receive friends Tuesday evening May 6, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Thicket Church of God. A service of remembrance will be Wednesday May 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Thicket Church of God, officiated by Reverend Frank Aragon, Bishop Mark Ainsworth and Mordie Lloyd Marcontell. Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket.

He is preceded in death by his father, Reverend S. C. Loftin.

He is survived by his his wife Cathryn Sue Loftin; son, Clif Loftin; daughter, Cristy Loftin; mother, Vera Loftin; brothers, Marty Loftin and his wife Judy, Rev. Michael Loftin and his wife Suzanne; sister, Latasha Loftin; granddaughter, Alyssa Brown; grandsons, Chance and Jake Loftin and one great grandson, Jaxson Melancon.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Parrott

Ivy L. Parrott, 49, of Cypress, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Kindred Hospital NW in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Ivy was born August 15, 1964 in Loring, Maine, to parents; Jerry C. and Eva L. Laird Parrott, and enjoyed swinging and playing with her beads.

Miss Parrott was preceded in death by her father: Jerry C. Parrott and sisters: Eva M. Southall and Helen B. Jackson. She is survived by her mother: Eva L. Laird Parrott of Silsbee, sisters: Paula Webb of Anahuac, Peggy Pittman of Baytown, and Thelma Clark of Crosby, brothers: Harvey Parrott of Silsbee, Jerry Parrott of Oklahoma, and Mark Parrott of Baytown, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Strange

Lonnie David Strange, age 69 and a resident of Cleveland, Texas, died Monday, April 28, 2014 with family at his side.

He was born June 28, 1944, in Temple, Texas, to parents, Raymond and Opal Holderfield Strange.

Mr. Strange is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Strange; and son, James Strange. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; mother, Opal Simmon; son, Greg; daughters; Rhonda, Gretchen, Betheny, Kristina, Amanda, and daughter by choice, Leah; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

A memorial service for Lonnie will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland with Chuck Davis and Don Stevens officiating.

Miller

Bailey Mae Miller, 8 months of age, and of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014.She was born August 23, 2013, in Kingwood, Texas to parents, Wesley Allen Miller and Jessica Annie Jean Whitley.

Survivors include her mother, Jessica Annie Jean Whitley; father, Wesley Allen Miller; grandparents, Riley Whitley and wife Denise, Jerald Miller and Karen Rodgers; sisters, Kaylyn Miller, Alexis Miller and Brooklin Miller; aunts and uncles, Gary Evans and wife Kacey, Toby Whitley and wife Laken, Kelly Miller and wife, Kristy and Jearld Miller; cousins, Alley Evans, Breaton Whitley, Kayzlee Whitley, and Bryce Prince.

She was all smiles and perfect in every way. She will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 2, 2014, 10:00a.m. - 12:00 noon at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Brother Melvin Holifield will preside over the service at Noon, Friday, May 2, 2014, with graveside following at Pace Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas

Guidry

Agnes “Coco” Guidry, 88, of Dayton, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Liberty with burial following at Wells cemetery in Liberty. Services are entrusted to Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Agnes was born June 9, 1925 in Orange, to parents; William and Hattie Mouton Stevenson, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. She was a retired custodian with the Liberty I.S.D. and a faithful member of Mt Olive Baptist Church under leadership of Rev. R. J. Revels and Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church under leadership of Rev. Paul Edward Cross. She also enjoyed shopping, collecting, gardening, and especially caring for her family.

Mrs. Guidry was preceded in death by her father: William Stevenson, mother: Hattie Mae Mouton Stevenson, father of her child: Sanders Marshall, husbands: A. C. Perry and Weldon Guidry, sisters: Mary Washington, Mammie Washington, Willie Mae White, and Alice Shaw, and brothers: Willie Washington, Henry Stevenson, and Jesse Stevenson. She is survived by her daughter: Edith Mallet and husband Noel of Dayton, grandson: Miles Walker of Dayton, godchildren: Paula Stevenson of Dayton, Sierra Cooper of Dayton, Delwin Bunton of Spring, and CaRez Carter of Dayton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Vail

Woodrow Dallas Vail, 85, of Liberty, died Tuesday April 29, 2014 at Magnolia Place Healthcare Center.

He was born in Daisetta November 3, 1928. He graduated Albany High School in Albany, Ohio. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, then he received his BA Degree in Zoology and Chemistry from the University of Texas. He later attended San Jacinto College and earned his Associates of Applied Science Degree in Electronic Technology. During his vast career he was a quality control chemist for Cosden Petroleum Corp, he was an electrical draftsman for Loomis Construction, he taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics, he worked as a maintenance electrician for many years in Houston. In his later years, he was a self-employed carpenter. He loved music, cooking, reading and Church and he lead singing at the rest homes where he lived.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Evelyn Vail; siblings, Beulah Borque, Pearl Wing, Cecile Hays, Percy Vail, Ida Viles, Wilson Vail, Vivian Guy, Jessie Vail and Emanuel Vail.

He is survived by his sisters, Helen Joyce Ownbey of Liberty and Rose Warn of Daisetta.

His family will receive friends at Faith & Family Funeral Services Thursday May 1, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be 2:00 p.m. Friday May 2, 2014, at Faith & Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Howie Howeth and Reverend Frank Davis. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Houska

Donald Edward Houska, 69, of Hull, Texas, died of pneumonia, April 4, 2014 at Harbor Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. He was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma, July 24, 1944 to Edward Emil and Glenda Louella (Johnson) Houska.

He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his wife, Brenda Houska of Hull; mother, Glenda Houska of Deer Park; step-son, Bradley Sias and wife Sharon of Hull; granddaughter, Nikki Sias of LaPorte; great granddaughter, Morgan Rollins of LaPorte; sisters, Patricia L. Brock of Deer Park and Judy M. Jett of Deer Park; brother, Daniel E. Houska and wife Sue of Eustace, Texas.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1962 and The Institute of Far Eastern Language, Yale University, in 1963 and San Jacinto College in 1974. He served in the Air Force. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Liberty, Texas. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was employed at Exxon Chemical in Baytown and retired after 30 years of service.

Don was an intelligent, kind and considerate man. He was loved and respected in many walks of life.

He loved to garden and share his bounty. His delicious pickled okra and many kinds of pickles were known to be the BEST by all who ate them. He baked wonderful bread and everyone enjoyed his tender, tasty brisket as he loved to entertain his many friends and relatives. His love of music and making CDs was shared by many and all who received them will always enjoy the memories he gave them.

He loved his dogs with passion and gave homes to many, many strays. He was happily welcomed at Rainbow Bridge.

Don Bowled for many years and enjoyed golfing. He was an avid sports fan and remained a true "Okie" always cheering for Oklahoma University. BOOMER SOONER!!
