Jesus Acevedo, Jr., 31, of Crosby, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Crosby.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with burial following at White cemetery in Highlands. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. throughout the evening on Friday, at the family residence in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jesus was born November 7, 1982 in Houston, to parents; Jesus, Sr. and Gloria Ramos Acevedo, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Crosby for the past eight years. He was an electrician contracted under Exxon in Baytown and attended Lee College. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, carpentry, and reading.

Mr. Acevedo is survived by his wife of nine years: Cynthia Lopez of Crosby, son: Emanuel Acevedo of Crosby, daughter: Valerie Acevedo of Crosby, father: Jesus Acevedo, Sr. of Dayton, mother: Gloria Ramos Acevedo of Dayton, brothers: Jose Acevedo and wife Yeseni of Dayton, Mike Acevedo and wife Lorena of Dayton, and Richard Acevedo of Dayton, sister: Dolores Clara of NY, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Edwards

Channie Edwards, 72, of Dayton, Texas died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 am, She will lie in state from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Dayton, Texas with Pastor Emery Maxwell Officiating.

Interment will follow in Acie cemetery in Dayton, Texas.

Nash

Ivy Lavern Vandver Nash, 63, of Cleveland, Texas died Sunday, April 20, 2014.

She was born December 31, 1950 in Cleveland to parents, Orland and Jessie Edward Sanders Vandver and had worked as a truck driver.

Service for Ivy will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland with Rev. Jimmy Charles officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.

Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Vernon Vandver and Buckshot Vandver, nephew Chuck Vandver. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Nash; daughters, LaMonica Parker and husband Frank; son, Brady Lloyd; grandchildren, William Rosbach, III, Lacie Rosbach & husband Matthew Ladner, Christian Rosbach, Brydon Lloyd, and Kadincee Lloyd; sister, Doris Noack and husband Paul; brothers, Roy Vandver and wife Linda and Douglas Vandver and wife Denise; nephews, Troy Vandver, Keith Collum, Michael Collum, and Jason Vandver; nieces, Suprena Frank, Teria Noack, LeeAnn McGibney, Zeanetta Porter and husband Mike, and Shantell Wetch; also other relatives and friends.

Watson

Geneva 'Ginny' Watson, 81, of Wallisville, Texas, went home to Heaven to be with her husband George, on Friday, April 18, 2014, just 20 days after the Lord called him home.

Geneva began her journey when she was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina on October 15, 1932 to parents Betty and John Kelly Blackburn. She was the second child born with five siblings.

She met the love of her life while he was in the Army stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. They married May 28, 1955 in Dillon, S.C. They had two daughters, Alice Marie Klaus and Georgia Annette Hatcher. They were married for 58 years and enjoyed doing many of the same hobbies and past times.

Geneva had a flair for cooking and taught all of her children and grandchildren how to cook for their families. She had many hobbies; a few were making jewelry, crocheting, and sewing clothes for her family. She really enjoyed gardening, grafting her fruit trees and raising cattle.

She is preceded in Death by her parents, Husband George Watson and her six 5 siblings Lawrence (LB) Blackburn, of Olney, Texas, JK Blackburn of, St. Paul’s, N.C. Albert Blackburn, of St. Paul’s, N.C, Betty Jean Cooper of, Conally, S.C, and Fairley Todd, of S.C.

She is survived by her daughters Alice Klaus and Husband Johnnie Klaus, Annette Hatcher and husband Chad Hatcher, all of Wallisville, TX. Grandchildren: George Broussard and wife Lisa, great grandson Dylan Broussard, of Wallisville; Crystal Hatcher Arthur and husband Steele and great grandson Trigg, of Baytown, TX, John Klaus and wife Sherry, great grandchildren Mariah, Nathaniel, Nadalie, of Wallisville, TX., and many nieces and nephews of North and South Carolina.

A visitation with the family will be on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, with Bro. Robert Pitts officiating.

Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Funeral services will be under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Breithaupt

Patricia Suzanne Breithaupt 51 of Hockley, formerly of Saratoga, died on Sunday April 20, 2014 at her residence in Hockley.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday April 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Guedry cemetery in Batson, officiated by Reverend Phil Love.

She was born in Kountze and grew up in Saratoga. She had lived in Hockley, and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Leon Breithaupt and Emma Davenport Breithaupt; brother, Keith Breithaupt.

She is survived by her spouse, Dale Lehman of Hockley; sons, Wesley Pool of Highlands; step-son, West Pool; daughters; Carla Pool, Emily Pool and Katie Breithaupt all of Dayton; step-daughter, Misty Pool; sisters, Vickie Welch of Saratoga, Mary Hendrix of Saratoga, Karen Flowers of Saratoga, and Brenda Alpers of Trinity; grandsons, Mason and Brent and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Smart

Charles Douglas “Red” Smart, age 78 of Liberty, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Red was born September 10, 1935 in Mont Belvieu, TX, son of the late Aubrey and Alma Holyfield Smart. He was an electrician by trade and was the owner of Smart’s Armature Works. Red was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Liberty, loved restoring old cars, enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. Red enjoyed his work, had a very strong work ethic and could be quite the jokester with a larger than life personality.

Red was preceded in death by his parents, grandson; Charles Harrod, brothers; James Earl Smart and Royce Smart. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife; Kelly Smart, son; Charles Daniel Smart, daughters; Sharron Smart, Melanie Miller, Priscilla Frazier, brothers; Aubrey Smart, Oliver Smart, sisters; Wanda Wesch, Kathleen Blackburn, grandchildren; Derek Jason Smart, Jennifer Easley, Courtnie Coker, Alyssa Frazier, Abby Frazier, great-grandchildren; Sarah Yarberry, Allison Yarberry, Aubrey Quinn and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Charles Douglas “Red” Smart will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, with burial to follow at Fairlawn Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service chapel.

Cunningham

Alene Mathis Cunningham, 76, of Huffman, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at the Icon Hospital in Humble.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Huffman cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Alene was born December 24, 1937, in El Centro, California, to parents; W. L. “Buck” and Georgie Brown Mathis, a former resident of New Mexico, and has resided in the Huffman area for the past 48 years. She was a homemaker, former cafeteria worker for Huffman ISD, and Baptist by faith. She also enjoyed painting, ceramics, and was an avid reader.

Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her parents, son: Carle Cunningham, brothers: Walter, Jerry, Bobby, and Melvin Mathis, and sister: Thurzia Corker. She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Billy J., Cunningham of Huffman, sons: Jim Cunningham and wife Elizabeth of Huffman, Allen Cunningham and wife Karen of Wimberley, Don Cunningham and wife Pat of Florida, and Jeff Cunningham and wife Angela of Austin, sister: Linda Smith of Redrock, brother: Glen Mathis of California, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Hatcher

Kenneth Eugene Hatcher 72 of Saratoga, Texas died on Friday April 18, 2014 at his residence.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday April 23, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Aaron Hatcher and Reverend Gene Denham officiating. Interment will follow at Saratoga, City cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 22, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family. Kenneth was born on December 8, 1941 in Saratoga, to parents Clarence Leonard Hatcher and Hazel Gladys O'Quin and had lived in Saratoga, and was a Roughneck in the oilfield industry. He was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Hazel Hatcher, two brothers; John Hatcher and Elmer Hatcher. Sisters; Ethel Courts, Margaret Wilson, Jacklyn Wood and grandson; Chance Hatcher. Survivors are sons; Gregory Hatcher and wife Chanelle of Saratoga, Tracy Hatcher and wife Mary of Mt. Belvieu, Aaron Hatcher and wife Mandy of Evadale. Daughters; Wendy Wickman and husband Philip of Lumberton, Misty Arabie and husband Coonie of Lafayette. Sisters; Pat Gross of Batson, Jeanette Wynn of Batson, and Vera Rountree and husband Gordon of Batson. Grandchildren: nine and Great grandchildren; two.

Speights

K. D. Speights Jr. 63, of Hankamer, TX passed Apr. 18, 2014.

Service will be Apr. 26, 2014, at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church Hankamer, TX. Visitation will be from 10AM until Funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Richardson cemetery Hankamer, Tx.

Cherishing his memories are sons: Koret D. Williams (Crystal), Gary A. Williams (Kelly), Barry E. Williams (Shendrell) and Jerry Williams. Siblings: Mattie M. Hill, Ida B. Gibson, E.A. Speights, Mary J. Speights and Gilbert Speights. 6-Grandchildren. Close friends: Fritz Whittington and Anthony Speights and a host of other Relatives and friends.

Mr. Speights services has been entrusted to Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St., Anahuac, Texas. ”We Make The Difference” (409) 267-3122.

Arceneaux

Adam Curtis Arceneaux age 77 died April 16, 2014 in Liberty.

Adam was born in Ames, Texas October 10, 1936, the son of the late Willie Arceneaux and Vester Guidry Arceneaux. Upon graduating from High School, Adam enlisted in the U.S. Army. His assignment was Intelligence, completing tours in Vietnam and Korea. In 1979 he retired after serving for twenty-three years. He worked until 1996 with the U.S. Postal Service; National Pipe and Tube; Chevron Chemical, and various municipal offices. He was a faithful member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas where he served as an usher for over thirty years. Adam had a great affinity for children. He spent many hours with neighborhood kids, teaching them to count with dominos and cards, or over -seeing mud-pie creations and volleyball matches. He organized several softball teams within the community. Adam was also a proud H.O.S.T. Reading Program volunteer at Liberty Elementary School. The friendly farmer, known to many as “Vegetable Man”, supplied the community with fresh vegetables for years, and would put anyone to work who came along during planting time. He was passionate about history trivia, and left many memories in the form of his unique and colorful stories. He collected vintage records, brass “what-nots”, model antique cars, and baseball caps. Let’s not forget his beautiful roses.

Adam will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters, Annie Lee Hollimon and Bernice White and two brothers Willie Arceneaux Jr. and Earl Arceneaux. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of twenty-one years Valencia Arceneaux, his six children, Jon Adrian Arceneaux, Chinita Arceneaux, Anita Donatto, Victor Donatto, Danielle Donatto, and Nicole Donatto Natt; brother Fredrick Arceneaux and wife Ida Mae, sisters; Josephine Bernard and Mary Elouise Walker and husband Lloyd. In addition he leaves twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11AM April 26, 2014 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames. Visitation will be held from 8AM-10AM with a Rosary service to be held at 10AM. Burial will follow in Ames Catholic cemetery.

Williamson

Beverly Ann Williamson, 70, of Hardin, was carried Home by angels to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday April 18, 2014.

She was a rancher and raised cattle. She enjoyed sports, including fishing, softball, baseball and football. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and other family members. She fought the good fight and is now Home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Wayne Williamson; parents Earl Miller and Dean Woods and step-father Terry Woods.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Williamson of Hardin, Laura Williamson of Hardin and Jesse Wade Williamson and wife Belinda Kay of Hardin; grandchildren, Rowdy Williamson of Hardin, Jessica Williamson of Hardin, Cheyenne Williamson of Hardin and Walker Williamson of Hardin; brothers, David Miller of Liberty and Ricky Woods of Liberty; nieces, Jerre' Delaney of Liberty, Michelle Fatheree of The Woodlands, Angie Parrish of Hardin and Darbie Wood of Liberty; numerous great nieces and great nephews and other family members.

Her family will receive friends Monday April 21, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at North Main Baptist Church of Liberty. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 22, 2014 at North Main Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Dick Lintalman. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Parrish, Kyle Combes, Eric Iler, Justin Key, Dennis Hall and Bubba Campbell. Honorary pallbearers are Aubrey Parrish, Harris Jackson, Bill McElhatten, Frank Davis and Jay Haywood.

Calhoun

Bessie Etta Johnson Calhoun, 87, died Friday April 18, 2014 at Highland Pine Nursing Home in Longview, Texas.

She was a member of the Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary VFW. She was also a retired legal secretary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.H. and Georgia Johnson; siblings, Charlie Lambert, Ray Lambert, Jimmy Johnson, Ernest Johnson, Peabo Johnson, Nannie Lou Guidry, Johnnie Lee Hart, Hazel Carson, Polly Williams; great granddaughter, Danielle LeCompte.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, John Bill Calhoun; children, Gary Bass of Jones Creek, TX and Barbara LeCompte and husband Larry of Jones Creek, TX; 6 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends at Faith & Family Funeral Services on Monday April 21, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until 12:30 p.m. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday April 21, 2014 at Guedry cemetery in Batson, TX, officiated by Reverend Roger Fancher.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Jones, Harold Jones, James Carson, John Lambert, Dwayne Hart and Howard Jordan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Services, Hwy 105 E, Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.
